‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ Comes in First at the Box Office

Raya and Sisu in Raya and the Last dragon

Raya and the Last Dragon‘ Comes in First at the Box Office. Though movie theaters are just beginning to reopen their doors nearly a year after the global shutdown due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Disney’s new animated feature film, Raya and the Last Dragon managed to snag the #1 spot at the box office, earning $26 Million globally over its premiere weekend.

Domestically, the film only brought in $8.6 million over the course of the weekend, but that is much better than most films that have tried to brave a theater release with a majority of theaters still shuttered or in this case refused to screen the film after Disney’s refusal to offer exhibitors a larger cut of box office revenue. Theater chains such as Cinemark and others refused to screen the film due to the conflict over earnings.

Regardless, the film has been performing well, and it is currently unknown how many Disney+ subscribers bought into the $29.99 Premier Access digital release, which may swing the numbers in Disney’s favor. The film was said to cost the animation studios around $100 Million to make and produce, but taking the pandemic into account and realizing a good amount of the film was recorded and finished from the homes of the cast and crew, we would say the movie is still a crowning achievement for Disney and we can’t wait for audiences to love Raya just as much as we did!

The news was shared a little while ago on twitter.

Super Nintendo World Officially opening next week

Universal Studios Japan will hold its grand opening of the world’s first SUPER NINTENDO WORLD on March 18, 2021 – bringing to life a highly themed and immersive land featuring Nintendo’s legendary worlds, characters and adventures where guests will be able to play inside their favorite Nintendo games. The grand opening of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD will kick off the park’s year-long 20th Anniversary Celebration.

It also provides guests with an all-new type of “Asobi” play experience where they will jump, punch ? Blocks and collect virtual coins. Guests can purchase a Power-Up Band in the land and sync it to their smartphones to keep track of their score and compete with other park guests. At Key Challenge attractions around the land, guests can collect keys, gather character stamps and more using their entire bodies in dynamic activities. Families and friends will unleash their passion to play in the new SUPER NINTENDO WORLD.

Aerial look at the demolition of Innoventions West

demolition innoventions west
Aerial look at the demolition of Innoventions West

Aerial photos reveal the continuing demolition of Innoventions West as EPCOT continues its transformation at Walt Disney World! Back late last year, demolition and construction work started in EPCOT, preparing the park for its biggest expansion in history! Now from aerial photos we see how this transformation is taking place, thanks to Twitter account Bioreconstruct and The Disney Pilot on Instagram!

Steadily over the last couple of months, we have seen the complete demolition of Innoventions West to make way for the four new lands- Showcase, Celebration, Discovery and Nature. However, it definitely takes a while to get used to the change, particularly when Innoventions West has been around for over a decade! As you can see from Bioreconstruct on Twitter, see tweet below, the vast amount of space the demolition has left!

Related: Progression of the Demolition of EPCOT Innoventions!

Therefore, after the trusses are removed, the entire Innoventions West is gone! Innoventions West, which used to house the Character Spot in EPCOT, alongside Club Cool (and the love/hate Beverly drink) as well as Fountain View, will be transformed into Moana- Journey of Water and more of the World Celebration neighborhood!

Related: Moana- Journey of Water delayed til after 2021!

From the Instagram post by The Disney Pilot above, you can also see the continuing construction on the new, highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy attraction! The construction update seems to be the new blue panels added to the top of the roof! Whilst it’s very hard to see from the aerial photo, it seems construction is also speeding along for this attraction as the roof of the attraction is completely different from when we saw it back in January!

In comparison to Innoventions West, Innoventions East has new materials being added rather than taken away! As previously reported, Innoventions East received new windows for the main EPCOT gift shop redo!

We look forward to seeing the finished EPCOT!

How to make a Mickey Leprechaun Hat for St. Patrick’s Day

Top of the morning, with St Patrick’s Day coming this month, why not learn how to make a Mickey Leprechaun Hat in time for this festive celebration but with a Disney twist!

Related: St Patrick’s Day Treat at Disney Springs

Thanks to Disney Family, we now know how to make a magical Mickey Leprechaun Hat just in time for St Patrick’s Day on the 17th March! This super fun activity only takes you 15 minutes to make but endless hours of fun! A great activity to do, when you’re at home with the children or even when celebrating the day with friends! Check out how to make the Mickey Leprechaun Hat below!

Click here to download the PDF needed to make a Mickey Leprechaun Hat!

Time: 15 Minutes

What You’ll Need

  • Regular paper or cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Tape or glue

How To Make It

  1. Print the template on regular paper or cardstock and cut out the pieces.
  2. Start by gluing the A tab on the front piece to the left-hand side of the back piece. Close the top of the hat by gluing the B tab to the left-hand side of the front piece.
  3. Tuck the C tabs on the top piece into the top of the hat and tape or glue them to the inside of the hat.
  4. Tuck the D tabs on the brim of the hat into the bottom of the top piece and glue or tape them to the inside of the hat. Line the brim up with the top piece so that the two dotted lines on the brim are on either side. These lines are where you will attach Mickey’s ears.
  5. Fold and glue each ear piece in half so the design is two-sided. Line the ears up on the dotted lines on the brim and glue the red tabs to the side of the hat and the green tab to the brim of the hat. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Notes

Cutting should be done by an adult.
