The Disney Princesses Welcome Kelly Marie Tran as Raya into the Royal Family. The hit animated feature film, Raya and the Last Dragon premiered on March 5th in select theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access. To honor the event, Disney hosted a virtual red carpet premiere event and several other Disney Princesses gave a warm welcome to the newest Princess Raya, played by Kelly Marie Tran.
Actresses Anika Noni Rose (Tiana), Paige O’Hara (Belle), Ming-Na Wen (Mulan), and Jodi Benson (Ariel) recorded special messages welcoming Kelly Marie Tran into the Animated Disney Royal Family. The special guests shared:
Ming-Na Wen: “I am so happy and excited that there is another princess warrior in the mix.”
Paige O’Hara: “The year you were born was the year I started recording Beauty and the Beast. So, I want you to prepare yourself for a very, very long but a very, very happy ride filled with wonderful experiences and thousands of children dressing up to look just like you.”
Kelly was also congratulated by fellow Disney actress Ginnifer Goodwin (Judy Hopps, Zootopia) and actor Jonathan Groff (Kristoff, Frozen.) Tran was very surprised and excited for the message from Groff, who shared:
“Sven and I just wanted to say happy premiere,” Groff shared, then using a Sven stuffed animal and Sven’s voice to say, “Happy premiere, Kelly!”
