Social Distancing Markers Being Removed from Walt Disney World Rides and Attractions

Social Distancing Markers Being Removed from Walt Disney World Rides and Attractions

Social distancing markers are slowly making their way out of Walt Disney World! The new normal is looking much more like the old normal as guests are no longer required to stand six feet apart as they wait in lines for attractions. Due to shifting health and safety protocols coming from the CDC, Disney recently announced that they would be phasing out this part of their plan.

For the most part, social distancing markers have been removed from outdoor queues. The area they once occupied is still visible to the naked eye. You might also notice many indoor queues still have the markers, but they are not being observed by guests or enforced by Cast Members. The old “fill in all available space” mantra may not be uttered out loud anymore, but the theory still seems to be in play for many locations in the parks.

Walt Disney World has been creeping in the direction of resuming business as usual. In the last couple of months, you may have noticed that Disney no longer requires temperature checks or masks to be worn in outdoor locations (aside from outdoor attractions which still require masks to be worn at all times). In April, reports were released that lowered social distancing guidelines to three feet. Disney has followed up that information by relaxing its policies.

Remember that even though the guidelines have relaxed, many people still enjoy their personal space. We are so thankful for Cast Members who have been patient and diligent to keep the magic alive through all the changes they’ve encountered over the last year. Have you noticed Walt Disney World looking more like its former self lately?

New Touchfree Security Scanners installed at Universal Orlando

Touchfree Security Scanners

New Touchfree Security Scanners are being tested and installed at Universal Orlando. These are the same type of bag and body scanners used at Walt Disney World. The scanners are able to distinguish between weapons and personal items when a guest walks through. Keeping us safe and secure. We just happened to be leaving the park today as they started testing, and got some photos to show. We have not heard anything from Universal directly yet.

Guests are able to walk through in groups or individually. When using these scanners, guests do not have to take items out of their pockets to pass through a metal detector or wait for a security guard to check their bag. These types of scanners can accommodate up to 3600 guests an hour.

Related: Magic Kingdom now has Contactless Security Screening!

Undoubtedly, the metal detectors and x-ray machines used at Universal right now work and do a fine job, but it is a choke point for crowds. Especially in the morning rush. During the pandemic, the lines in this area would bog down for a good bit of time.

We have not been able to see the scanners up-close yet, due to the testing on the opposite sides of the moving walkaway. It should be noted that Evolv Technology is the company behind the newest security technology being used. They have installed them in major sporting stadiums, Disneyland, and Disney World along with major events across the country.

New Touchfree Security Scanners

As you can see in the photos attached, the new Touchfree Security Scanners were being tested. Right before the metal detector and x-ray area. These photos were taken headed in from King Kong, Jurrasic Park, and also Jaws parking garage.
