'The Book of Boba Fett' and 'The Mandalorian: Season 3' Will Be Two Different Series

‘The Book of Boba Fett’ and ‘The Mandalorian: Season 3’ Will Be Two Different Series. This post contains MAJOR SPOILERS for The Mandalorian Season 2. If you do not wish to know any spoilers about the season we recommend you stop reading past this point. Thank you!

It seems many fans have been confused by misleading information about the surprise announcement at the end of the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian. We hope this article helps to clarify any confusion on the matter and want to note, there is no official word yet from Disney regarding the situation.

'The Book of Boba Fett' and 'The Mandalorian: Season 3' Will Be Two Different Series

So to start off we want to share that several publications tried to share information about an all-new Star Wars series following the adventures of Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) from The Mandalorian, but the information presented in said articles was misleading. Many sites announced the upcoming Season 3 of The Mandalorian would focus on Boba Fett rather than series leader Din Djarin (Mando). This is simply a rumor at this time.

All production signs indicate that Lucasfilm and Disney+ are developing a third season of The Mandalorian separately from The Book of Boba Fett. The Mandalorian is confirmed to receive three spin-off’s, with at least two of the titles happening congruently with The Mandalorian timeline in the Star Wars Universe. The two shows in question will be the Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka Star Wars series. It is currently unknown if The Book of Boba Fett will take place as a prequel series, or a congruent series with a heavy presence of flashbacks. From current understandings about the series the show will likely be a prequel series that may catch up to the “current events” featured in the second season of The Mandalorian and beyond. This would give audience insight into how Boba Fett escaped the Sarlacc Pit and what the infamous bounty hunter has been up to until his arrival in The Mandalorian, likely, up until the moment he saves Fennec Shands (Ming-Na Wen).

Lucasfilm artist, Paul Bateman, attempted to air out any confusion on Twitter, but later recanted a bit saying he is not a formal representative for the company, and essentially, we should all take the news with a grain of salt until Lucasfilm or Disney make a formal announcement regarding The Book of Boba Fett series.

It’s completely understandable that Star Wars fans are excited for the new shows and films headed our way, but for now we’ll just have to wait for m ore details from Disney and Lucasfilm. In the meantime check out what we do know about these different Star Wars series by reading these articles, and be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Star Wars!
