Cast Members Took Part In Tradition At Coronado Springs Expansion Site

Cast Members Took Part In Tradition At Coronado Springs Expansion Site

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort has been busy adding their 15 story tower to the property. One more milestone has been reached with the tower’s construction and cast members were able to take part in it. The signing of the support beam has been a long standing tradition at Disney. Cast members from all different areas came together to add their names to the steel before that beam was lifted into place.

Everyone from Steven Fisher, Event Services Director and Ken, Banquet Server took part in this event by adding their signatures.

The new 15 story tower will overlook the beautiful Lago Dorado waters and is expected to be completed in 2019. It will host a boardroom and multi-purpose rooms as well as 500 guests room and suites.

60 Day FastPasses Extended Through 2019 For Disney Springs Resorts

60 Day FastPasses Extended Through 2019 For Disney Springs Resorts

Late last year, Disney announced it’s decision to extend FastPass and Extra Magic Hour benefits to guests staying at select Disney Springs Resort area hotels. This decision allowed those guests to make FastPass selections at 60 days prior to arrival instead of the standard 30 days prior for off site visitors. They were also given the opportunity to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours. Those hours were previously dedicated to Disney resort guests. They would  have an hour, either before park opening, or a few hours after closing to enjoy a less crowded park. Those benefits have now been extended through 2019 for Disney Springs Resort area hotels.

Even though guests staying at Disney Springs Resort area hotels can continue using the 60 day Fast Pass benefits and Extra Magic Hours, Magic Bands and complimentary Disney transportation is still a Disney resort perk. Guests can use their Magic Bands to open their resort door, enter parks and attraction lines as well as charge any purchases to their rooms. Disney’s Magical Express service will transport guests in between Disney resorts and Orlando International Airport.

Justin Theroux Cast as Tramp

On the heels of the news that Ashley Jensen will lend her voice to Scottish Terrier Jackie, we’ve got even more Lady and the Tramp casting news.  Justin Theroux is in talks to lend his voice to the character of Tramp in the upcoming Disney live-action/CG remake of the animated classic.

Directed by Charlie Bean, this remake of the 1955 classic tells the tale of streetwise mongrel Tramp who rescues and then falls in love with the luxery-loving Cocker Spaniel, Lady who is on the streets after her owners had a baby.

The remake is set to premier on Disney’s upcoming streaming service.  The service launches in 2019 and we expect to see this film debut shortly after.

The scrip for this film was penned by Andrew Bujalski with Jessica Virtue and Chaz Salembier overseeing for Disney.

Theroux is well known for his role in the critically acclaimed HBO drama The Leftovers, which wrapped after three season. His newest movie, The Spy Who Dumped Me, opens in theaters on August 3rd.  In December we can see him in both Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s biopic, On the Basis of Sex and the Transformers spinoff, Bumblebee.

New Disney Movies Rumored To Be Headed To The Big Screen

New Disney Movies Rumored To Be Headed To The Big Screen

Disney fans all over the world are thrilled with the new movies hitting the big screen. Whether it’s a live action remake of your favorite childhood animated Disney film or a sequel to beloved series movies, there are tons of rumored remakes in the works.

Princess Diaries 3: After 20 years, Anne Hathaway may be reprising her role as Mia Thermopolis. After tons of speculation, Meg Cabot, author of the novel series that started it all, was quoted as saying “[It] could happen, as we say. I am not allowed to say.” Director Gary Marshall wanted the third piece of the story to come about before his passing in 2016.

Father of the Bride: Fans of Father of the Bride have been patiently waiting for the 3rd movie to happen for quite some time. Steve Martin may, in fact be headed back to the theater. According to George Newbern, Charles Shyer, the director of the first two already has the script. Newburn also stated “I’m sure most of the cast would be into it if the script was right. So maybe that’s just a question of that happening.”

Honey, I Shrunk The Kids: Although Disney is super busy these days remaking those animated favorites into live action pieces, it seems as though some of the live actions may be getting rebooted as well. Rick Moranis accidentally shrunk his kids back in the late 1980s and caused them to survive their own backyard as the size of insects. Today’s technology could really turn this classic into an incredible film!

The Parent Trap: Along with those classic live action favorites is a rumored reboot of The Parent Trap. The original was produced in 1961 and Lindsay Lohan took part in the 1998 remake. Disney may decide this film needs another run with a fresh story line. We’ll just have to wait and see.

A Bug’s Life 2: Who doesn’t remember this incredible classic Pixar film? Almost 20 years ago, these insects stole our hearts and they may now be getting a sequel. Disney has recently hinted that it may be coming soon. A simple tweet with a still from the movie with a caption that read “Try a new perspective” has fans incredibly excited that the second part of the film is on the horizon!

The Hunchback of Notre Dame: With so many classic animated films getting a fresh breath lately, Disney fans are anxiously anticipating official news on this one. Disney songwriter and composer Alan Menken recently stated in regards to the sequel “Possibly, I can’t say anything yet but I think Hunchback would make an amazing live-action musical.”

National Treasure 3: Nicolas Cage could be back on the hunt for more historic treasures if this film gets a third installment. He recently told Entertainment Weekly on a script rumor “I know that it’s been a challenge to get the script where it needs to be. That’s as much as I’ve heard. But they’re still working on it.”

Haunted Mansion: Guillermo del Toro is rumored to be planning a reboot of the Haunted Mansion (and has been working on it since 2010). This 2003 film starring Eddie Murphy wasn’t a huge favorite but with a little tweaking, could instantly become amazing!

Pirates of the Caribbean 6: Johnny Depp fans rejoice! There may be a sixth installment of the fantastically popular Pirates of the Caribbean on the horizon. Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of the franchise recently told Variety “[If] Johnny wants to do another one and Disney wants to write a check, we’ll be there.”

Which one are you most anxious to see??

H2O Glow Nights Featuring Partysaurus Rex Review

H2O Glow Nights

Did you know that you can purchase tickets for an after-hours event at Typhoon Lagoon?  H2O Glow Nights are available, Thursday and Saturday evenings, now through August 11th.  From exploration time and a media presentation to a crazy storm, a quiet park and onto the awesome H2O Glow Nights After Hours event, the day went by much too quickly.   Here is our review of this terrific night-time event.

When we arrived earlier in the day, the weather was very warm and sunny.  The entrance of the park was sporting signs of the H2O Glow Nights event to take place that evening.

First of all, we had some time to explore Typhoon Lagoon for a bit to get some photos before heading to a media presentation.

During our journey, we particularly enjoyed the wave pool.  You hear the “Woosh!” sound just before the wave appears.  At that moment, everyone begins to scream as the wave approaches.  It was great fun, and quite mesmerizing, to watch this.  See our Live video of the Typhoon Lagoon Surf  Pool here:

Check out our short “Woosh!” video of a wave forming during H2O Glow Nights here:

Next, we attended an event where Chef Hal let us know about many of the food offerings available during H2O Glow Nights.  Our personal favorite was the adobo chicken with rice, plantains and black beans.  We also enjoyed the Impossible Burger, which is exclusive to H2O Glow Nights at the moment.  Another popular choice on the table, also exclusive for the event, is the Gelato Cookies.  According to Chef Hal, the sugar cookie Sunrise Lagoona Delight, and the chocolate chip Sunset Lagoona Delight, are very popular amongst the younger crowd. Also popular is the Sprite with Fruit Boba and a glow cube for the little ones or the Glow XFusion with vodka and passion fruit boba for the adults.

Also available during the media presentation was Mark Dukes, General Manager.  He spoke with us about the Pixar inspiration, including Partysaurus Rex, for H2O Glow Nights.

After the conclusion of the media presentation, we walked around Typhoon Lagoon to take some photos.  There was a storm rolling in, but we enjoyed seeing some of the water slides, food and beverage options, photo-ops, ride props and floral representations. We also had the opportunity to meet Lilo outside of Singapore Sal’s Souvenirs.

Due to the storm wreaking havoc upon us, we had to take cover.  The wave pool was cleared, all rides were closed, and Lifeguards were directed to leave their stations.  As the storm settled down to just rain, we grabbed the umbrella and headed out.  What an amazing experience it was to see the park empty, the wave pool calm and picnic tables void of humans.  We were particularly fascinated by the fact that Castaway Creek had no tubes floating.  What could have happened to them so quickly?

When we found the tubes we were in utter amazement at how many of them there were!  See our short video of the tube phenomenon here:

Next, we picked up our H2O Glow Nights wristbands and put on our glow-gear.

At 8:03 pm, everything was re-opened and a joyous sound rang out around the park.  H2O Glow Nights had begun!  There was still a bit of falling rain, but that did not deter us from getting our party on.  Every water slide was open and many were challenged to ride them all before the end of the night.  During the day, such a challenge would be impossible. That was not the case with H2O Glow Nights as all the rides were basically walk-right-on.  Our little ones met the challenge and still had time to enjoy the wave pool and the Rex’s DJ Dance Party on the beach with Partysaurus Rex representing center-stage.  We met Jessie, Woody and Buzz Lightyear too!

Furthermore, our favorite treats of the evening were the Fred’s Purple Siren and the Bananas Foster Sundae. So delicious!

See our short video of the Fred’s Purple Siren Presentation here:

Towards the end of the evening, we did a full Live video walk-through.  You can see this here:

In conclusion, H2O Glow Nights is a really fun and interactive event that is fabulous for the entire family.  If you are looking to experience a Disney After Hours event, then this is a good one to start with.  At $55 for adults, and $50 for children ages 3-9, H2O Glow Nights is an excellent value.  Experience Typhoon Lagoon all aglow during the cooler part of the day with no crowds and no waits.  We are hopeful Disney will offer H2O Glow Nights again next summer.  If they do, we will see you there!

Consequently, we wish to send a very special thank-you to the folks at Disney for allowing us the opportunity to partake in this incredible event.  We are grateful to have been granted this opportunity and we truly enjoyed the experience.

Are you planning to check out Disney’s H2O After Hours event at Typhoon Lagoon?

Disney Acquires Sadé – A Fairytale About an African Princess

Disney Acquires Sadé

Is Disney getting their first African princess?! The Walt Disney Company has obtained a pitch for a live-action fairytale, Sadé.  This tale of an African Princess is based on an original story by  Ola Shokunbi and Lindsey Reed Palmer.

Shokunbi and Palmer are set to pen the screenplay together while Rick Famuyiwa will produce and Scott Falconer is attached at executive producer.

The story focuses on a young African girl, Sadé.  Her kingdom comes under the threat of a mysterious evil force so Sadé takes on her recently discovered magical warrior powers to protect her people – and herself. Together with the prince of the kingdom, Sadé sets out on an adventure that allows to her to accept and embrace that which makes her special and save her people.

Quarterbacking this project for the studio will be Tendo Nagenda and Zoe Kent.

This film will have the distinct honor of being the first time we see an African character as an original Disney Princess.  Back in 2009 we saw our first Black princess when the studio released “The Princess and the Frog” – an animated Disney favorite.

As of this point a director has not been linked to the film.  No production date or release dates have been announced.

Are you excited by this news?  I know the storyline has me very intrigued.  And I love seeing different cultures represented by Disney princesses. And it looks like this is set to be a live-action film straight from release, which is interesting as well.  Live-action remakes of classic princess tales like Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast have been very successful for Disney in recent years.
