With work being done on Rivers of America, the highly anticipated Cast Member Canoe Races have been absent for the past two years. They made their return this year to the delight of all Cast Members as 70 teams from all areas of the Walt Disney Company took part.

“This brings the cast together in a way no other event can,” said Cast Activities Program Manager Rick Henson. He began his Disney career as a merchandise host at the Disneyland Hotel 37 years ago. Since then, he has helped oversee the Canoe Races for the last 16 years. “I’ve had cast members tell me how they heard about the races before they started working here, and it was so special once they became a cast member to be able to form a team. I’m honored to be the person who gets to put on these races and keep the tradition alive.”

Along with the Canoe Races, Cast Members can also take part in some newer opportunities. Sunrise Yoga at Sleeping Beauty Castle and a Cast Member, Friends and Family 5K took place on Saturday, July 14th.

The morning run through the parks was coordinated by Tim Sullivan, the Fitness Program Manager. “We have so many cast members that have been working here for a number of years. It’s so fun to see them run into each other and talk about where they are now in their professional Disney careers, introduce their families and reminisce about their time together working in the parks. This place means a lot to so many of us, and to be able to have these events in the park, before or after hours is really special.” Tim’s 22 year career at Disneyland began as a Jungle Cruise Skipper.

The Ultimate Disney S’mores from The Ganachery in Disney Springs

Have you tried The Ultimate Disney S’mores from The Ganachery in Disney Springs yet this summer?! This made-to-order treat comes with the added fun of watching while your S’more is being made in The Ganachery’s show kitchen.

Made with two homemade graham crackers and topped with cinnamon and sugar, The Ultimate Disney S’more is a must-try.  Both crackers are spread with a salted caramel ganache and then the ganache is sprinkled with sea salt.

Next, a homemade vanilla bean marshmallow, made from scraped Madagascan vanilla beans, is toasted with a blowtorch. The heating process caramelizes the sugar on the marshmallow with the flame.

Following the addition of the marshmallow toasting with the blowtorch, a custom blend of chocolate called “Dark 65” is laid on top. “Dark 65” has been specially prepared in sheet form with the Ganachery’s logo. It is a single origin chocolate with beans harvested from the Dominican Republic. The 65 means that 65% of chocolate came from the cocoa bean.

2018 Second Quarter Orlando Theme Park Accident and Injury Report

Florida’s 2018 Second Quarter Theme Park Accident and Injury Report has been released and includes any accident and injury from April 1, 2018, through June 30, 2018. The report includes all incidents which have occurred on rides, resulted in immediate hospitalization lasting more than 24 hours, or any deaths.

For the first quarter of 2018, Busch Gardens, SeaWorld, and Legoland had no injuries or accidents to report. Universal reported 3 incidents and Walt Disney World reported 15 incidents (including one resulting in death).

Woody's Lunch Box No Longer Serving The Monte Cristo Sandwich

The Monte Cristo Sandwich has disappeared from the menu at Woody’s Lunch Box. It was being offered as a lunch and dinner entrée, served with raspberry jam and a choice of side. That option is no longer listed on the menu board at Woody’s Lunch Box or on the mobile app.

Don’t worry! Guests will not leave Toy Story Land hungry. Woody’s Lunch Box is continuing to serve their BBQ Brisket Melt, Smoked Turkey Sandwich, Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich and Totchos.

Their beverage options are plentiful and feature Mystic Portal Punch (that you can have in a Souvenir Alien Sipper cup), ice cream floats, juices or Joffrey’s Coffee. There are also adult beverages available. Woody’s Lunch Box carries Grown Up Lemonade (with Three Olives cherry vodka, Odwalla lemonade and black cherry puree) along with a small variety of beer.

Woody’s Lunch Box is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily so swing on by while you are having fun in Andy’s backyard!

With the record breaking release of the Incredibles 2 a few weeks ago, it’s no surprise that Incredibles themed treats are in the mix. These vibrant Incredibles Red Velvet cupcakes were recently spotted at Rosie’s All American Café at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The Incredibles Red Velvet cupcake is topped with a cream cheese buttercream and is perfect for every super hero! Other desserts include a fantastic strawberry shortcake and a decadent chocolate mousse.

Rosie’s All American Café is open for lunch and dinner daily. They offer great burgers, like the Fresh Angus Onion Straw Cheddar Cheeseburger. It features 1/3 lb chargrilled Angus beef and comes topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and fried onion straws on a Kaiser roll. You can pair that with your choice of coleslaw or French fries.

The Lighthouse Sandwich has returned to Columbia Harbour House at Magic Kingdom. The very popular vegetarian option disappeared from the menu nearly a year ago. Made with hummus and tomato broccoli slaw, the Lighthouse Sandwich is served on toasted multigrain bread and comes paired with great house made potato chips.

Rivers of Light has been a great way to end the day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park. Now it’s getting even better. A brand new Rivers of Light Dessert Party will begin on Monday, August 6th, 2018.

NEW Rivers Of Light Dessert Party Coming To Animal Kingdom

Guests can enjoy a beautiful buffet of Animal Kingdom themed desserts, snacks and drinks before a VIP viewing of Rivers of Light. Offerings will include house-made desserts, snacks, specialty alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, iced tea, lemonade and water. Check in will be 60 minutes prior to the main show (8:15pm for a 9:15pm show) at the Rivers of Light Asia Viewing Area Terrace located across from Expedition Everest. Right before the show, guests will head down the VIP seating area for stunning views of Rivers of Light.

This exciting new experience will take place on select night beginning August 6th, 2018. Reservations are now being accepted. Pricing is $79 for adults and $47 for kids ages 3 to 9. Total cost is due upon booking. Guests must be at least 21 years of age or older and present valid ID to consume alcoholic beverages.
