Special D23 Live Event Will Feature The Genius of Ub Iwerks

The D23: Official Disney Fan Club will be hosting a special live-stream event this week with Walt Disney Imagineering. This free special event will be available to all with the help of Disney Legend, Don Iwerks.

Fans are already loving all The Imagineering Story provided by Disney+ and Leslie Iwerks, daughter of Don Iwerks. Now from her father’s newly released book, “Walt Disney’s Ultimate Inventor: The Genius of Ub Iwerks”, the Imagineering Campus will feature a special event based on his stories.

Don will be presenting how Disney Imagineers and filmmakers have paved the way in story telling. This presentation will then be followed by a panel discussion of the history of Disney Innovation. This panel will be led by Leonard Maltin. Included in the discussion will be Bob Weis (President of Walt Disney Imagineering), Linda Folsom (Media Producer), Leslie Iwerks, and of course, Don Iwerks.

This live stream will take place this Wednesday, December 11th, at 3 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, with a pre-show beginning at 2:30.

This special live stream event will be available to everyone. You don’t want to miss out on this historic and fascinating presentation!

New Baby Yoda MagicBands, Phone Cases, And Magnets At D-Tech

You can now scoop up some pretty epic new Baby Yoda exclusives at Walt Disney World! You can now find Baby Yoda MagicBands, phone cases, and magnets at D-Tech locations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort! That’s right, the Child has officially landed at the Disney Parks, with customizable items from D-Tech.

MagicBands!

There are two MagicBand choices for “The Child”, one featuring the “Protect, Attack, Snack” meme, and another featuring a pattern of chibi “Baby Yodas”. You can select any of the solid color bands as the base, and then have it printed with the design of your choice. We chose the chibi design, because it was just too cute.

Magnets!

As for magnets, there are two offerings. There is the play on the honor roll student bumper sticker, and a twist on the baby on board decal. The honor roll style says “My child can levitate your child”, and features an image of The Child looking extra curious. The Baby on Board design is exactly what you would guess. It says “The Child on Board”, and has it in its “cradle”. There is also a frog for extra cuteness and fun.

There are four “Mandalorian”, phone cases, and 3 of them feature “The Child”. There are the “meme”, and “chibi” designs from the MagicBands, as well as a silhouette of Mando, and “The Child”. Plus there is also a Mando helmet one, if Baby Yoda actually isn’t your favorite part of this show. Which would be crazy, I know!

The cases are currently available in iPhone sizes.

We also had one of the MagicBands, and a magnet made so that we could show an up close look at them. Although we chose white, my vote was for light pink.

I was sadly overruled, but come on, the light pink is also extra cute too!

The magnet was a bit larger than expected, and a really nice quality too.

Ever since the debut of the Mandalorian, fans have been clamoring for merchandise inspired by “The Child”, and we were so excited to see these customizable options!

A Delicious Wreath Donut Spotted at Walt Disney World

Disney just keeps cranking out the Christmas treats this season and now we have a new Wreath Donut at Walt Disney World!

This new donut is a glazed donut featuring red, green and white sprinkles in the shape of bears, trees, and stars with chocolate frosting. The donut is then topped off with a decent sized chocolate red Minnie bow with cute little white dots.

If we didn’t want to eat this already, this picture in front of the tree at Wilderness Lodge makes me want one even more. Oh, we just love the Disney Christmas magic!

Guests can find this new wreath donut as a seasonal donut at the Wilderness Lodge for only $2.19 or a dining plan credit!

We absolutely are loving all of the treats that we are seeing, especially donuts. Did you see the snowman donut?!

New Droid Driven Star Wars Coke Stands in Galaxy’s Edge

We first saw the droid driven Star Wars coke stands during the media previews in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Well, now they have officially landed in Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland.

As you can see, these stands are driven by an R-5 unit at the helm of the stand. The stand also features the classic signature red and white colors of the Coca-Cola company. The side of the stand also features Coca-Cola written in Arubesh, which is also the same writing on the side of the thermal detonator-style bottles.

These thermal detonator-style bottles cost $6, while the Dasani bottles cost $4.25. Guests visiting Black Spire Post can find these new coke stands scattered around Galaxy’s Edge.

Two of Disneyland’s Beloved Horses Are Now Retired Cast Members

After 11 years of service for the Disneyland Resort, two horses have trotted down Main Street for the very last time. Meet the two furry legends, Brother and Reggie! Thanks to Marcy Smothers (@foodwinemarcy), we have these wonderful photos of their last moments as everyone’s favorite four-legged cast members.

These two iconic horses had their last day in the park on Nov. 24 and as you can see, they had quite the going away party. Even Mickey Mouse came to say his goodbyes, though I’m sure it was more of a, “see ya real soon!”

At 18 years old, they can now live peacefully on the farm of their new owner- a Cast Member who adopted them! These two retirees will be missed by their Disneyland family and park guests, but they sure have fulfilled their jobs as cast members. I hope they get to keep their name badges!

Contestants Win Disney Vacations on “Wheel of Fortune” Secret Santa Weeks

Contestants will compete for a chance to win a Disney vacation during Secret Santa Weeks on “Wheel of Fortune”!

Starting tonight, December 9th, and continuing throughout the whole week and next week, “Wheel of Fortune” will be featuring its Secret Samta Weeks.

Disney has teamed up with the “Wheel of Fortune” during the most wonderful time of the year to give trips to not only contestants…but to those viewing at home too!

Whatever a contestant wins during Secret Santa Weeks will be gifted to a home viewer too! Prizes include vacations to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, and even Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa!

You’ll notice that longime host, Pat Sajak, is not present for these episodes. He suffered a health setback during filming and Vanna White stepped into take his place. Mr. Sajak is currently fully recovered and back to work!

The set is also decorated with hundreds of Disney toys, games, plushes, and holiday home decor. Keep and eye out for Mickey and Minnie – Vanna White’s job was up for grabs afterall!

Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal To Be Closed For 5 Months

Disney Cruise Line‘s terminal at Port Canaveral will be closing for five months to undergo a renovations.

Cruise Terminal 8 (Disney’s terminal) will be closed from June – October 2020. Fortunately, thie renovation will not impace any DCL sailings. Disney has made an agreement to use Cruise Terminal 10 in the interim. Cruise Terminal 10 is located right next to Terminal 10 so this should not cause too much of an issue for those traveling next year.

In previous years, renovations to Disney’s terminal at Port Canaveral were done during regular operations or on non-cruise days. Because Terminal 8 needs extensive renovation, Port Canaveral has decided to shut it down in order to make the necessary changes. The terminal needs to be shut down so that the majority of the changes can be made before the Disney Wish arrives in early 2022.

According to Disney Cruise Line Blog, the renovations will include the installation of a new curtain wall in the current building, seating replacement, new ticket counters, IT infrastructure replacement, extending the drop-off canopy, and structural steel installation.

New Classic Walt Disney MagicBand Available

It all started with a mouse, and this new Classic Walt Disney MagicBand celebrates Walt and Mickey in the beginning! This nostalgic band showcases Walt on one side in black and white, and Mickey plush in color on the other side.

The black and white side shows Walt Disney surrounded by vintage Charlotte Clark Mickey dolls. Charlotte Clark created the first line of Mickey Mouse dolls and also other Disney characters!

The reverse side also showcases the vintage plush Mickeys in color! The white band really let’s this design pop too. This band retails for $29.99, and can be found throughout the Walt Disney World Resort, as well as online at shopDisney.com!

Star Wars Fan Starts Petition to Add Baby Yoda to Emoji’s. Star Wars superfan, Travis Bramble, started a petition with Change.org to convince Apple to add Baby Yoda emoji(s) to the Emoji Keyboard. At the time of writing, the petition has garnished 500+ signatures, and Bramble is looking to gather 1000 or more signatures before presenting the petition.

“I think Baby Yoda should be an emoji,” wrote Travis Bramble. “He stole our hearts and now I want him to steal our keyboard space. Your friend shares a pic of her new born baby? Respond with a cute little Baby Yoda emoji to show that you think her little rascal is cute beyond words. You’re sick and your mom texts you, ‘do you want some soup?’ Respond back with a cute little Baby Yoda to show her that your thirst for soup is insatiable. Join me into this movement and let your voices be heard. WE WANT BABY YODA EMOJI!!!”

Gary Sinise and American Airlines offer ‘Snowball Express’ for Children and Families of Fallen Service Members to Visit Walt Disney World. The Gary Sinise Foundation and American Airlines has partnered to provide the 14th ‘Snowball Express’, bringing 0ver 1000 Gold Star Children (children of fallen service members) and their families to Walt Disney World Resort at Christmas time for his annual Snowball Express program.

The CSI:NY and Forrest Gump star shares this mission statement for his charity, the Gary Sinise Foundation. “Freedom and security are precious gifts that we, as Americans, should never take for granted. We must do all we can to extend our hand in times of need to those who willingly sacrifice each day to provide that freedom and security. While we can never do enough to show gratitude to our nation’s defenders, we can always do a little more.” -Gary Sinise, GSF

Gary, GSF, and American Airlines have all shared photos and support via Twitter for this selfless act of kindness for these grieving families, who have loved ones that gave the ultimate sacrifice for their nation, her interests, and her people. American Airlines was happy to partner and get all these families to Orlando to enjoy the holiday season in the place “Where Dreams Come True.”

The families were able to participate in community building activities, meet with Disney characters, enjoy world class service at Disney resorts and restaurants, and have been treated to plenty of Disney Magic during their stay at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL. Though we know each and every one of these participants would prefer to have their loved ones here, this wonderful event allows for them to find some joy and light in the darkness.

Next Generation Theme Park Coming to the United Kingdom!

Finally confirmed, The London Resort has revealed a “next-generation” theme park coming to the United Kingdom! The new theme park will include six lands in the first phase on the 535-acre site and will be in partnership with the BBC, ITV Studios and Paramount Pictures!

Following the previous announcement with EDF Energy promises The London Resort to be the most “sustainable, major theme park destination in the world”. This is believed to be the first for the global tourism industry as the theme park in the United Kingdom aims to achieve a Net Zero emissions goal!

Alongside the recent announcement, The London Resort also released four visuals promising “next-generation” rides and unique experiences for people to enjoy when the park opens in 2024!

PY Gerbeau, Chief Executive of London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH) promises guests a “first-class theme park” containing “all-new, immersive and interactive technologies and experiences”, first in the world! Not only will this theme park be a “world-class leisure destination” but it will also be “one of the most sustainable theme parks on the planet”. Gerbeau said that the company has three guidelines when it comes to developing the attractions; firstly, “innovation” to not copy what is out there but to create an immersive experience like never before. Secondly, “relevance” to think about the guests “of 2024, not today”. Lastly, “flexibility” to create a park that will “evolve and adapt easily” to meet the needs of the guests!

The London Resort promises to be one of the “most ambitious theme park projects ever in Europe” and it will be the first of its kind since Disneyland Paris opened in 1992! The London Resort will be a two-park resort with its first gates opening in 2024 and the second park opening within 2029 (around 5 years) with 70% of attractions to be undercover.

The six lands of The London Resort, theme park in the United Kingdom!

Guests will enter the London Resort via the grand plaza which will lead guests through “The High Street” full of shops, restaurants, hotels, a Convention Centre and a first-class waterpark.

Guests will then make their way into The Studios, set to be a “gritty, modern-day warehouse” with thrills containing “big, blockbuster features”. Full of “explosive action, high-octane car chases and high-stakes espionage”.

Follow through to The Woods, featuring an enchanted realm where the lines between reality and fantasy dissolve! Here, guests of all ages will find themselves in the heart of a storybook full of adventures based upon bedtime stories, fables and fairy tales!

From The Woods, take a trip into The Kingdom! A world full of swords, sorcery, dragons and legends- the essence of England with threatening and imposing castles shrowded in mystical Arthurian legends!

To the north of The Kingdom lies The Isles a land filled with giant creatures, mythical beasts and adventures, featuring magnificent “next-generation” thrills amidst jaw-dropping architecture!

Now to turn to something different, guests will find themselves in The Jungle. Full of ancient ruins with hidden secrets and mysteries from “long-lost Mesoamerican civilisation”. Transporting guests of all ages and encouraging the inquisitive explorers to emerge!

The final land is Starport dedicated to futuristic experiences, alien encounters and big thrill rides! Set in a 23rd-century landing zone, promising thrilling science-fiction adventures that are out of this world, making guests question the impossible possible!

Frozen 2 LEGO Display Materializes in Disney Springs

With the release of ”Frozen 2,” Frozen fever is sweeping the world once again! It seems that little princesses and their families just can’t get enough of the story about Elsa and Anna, not to mention their snowy little friend Olaf. Everyone is singing the songs and buying the merchandise, but some fans take it to the next level. That’s exactly what our friends over at Disney Springs’ LEGO Store have done. They’ve molded their love for ”Frozen” into a life-size display!

The characters featured in the entrance to the LEGO Store change frequently and vary in complexity. Employees work hard to give us a stunning project to look up to, and this Frozen display is no exception!

Anna, Olaf, and Elsa stand together, each in their new ”Frozen 2” costumes. The girls are about as tall as the average woman walking through the doors of the store, and the details in their faces and clothes are impressive. Elsa has her arms spread out, showing off a long blue cape, waving behind her patterned and belted blue dress. Anna looks as sassy as ever, eyebrow raised, and wearing a caped black dress with brown trim and details. Both have leaves swirling around their ankles, adding a nod to the film itself.

Olaf is his usual smiley self, hoisted up on a pedestal between the two royal sisters. Although certainly the simplest of the three characters, he attracts a good number of children, some of whom can’t restrain their desire to cross the barrier and say hello!

This beautiful piece of art is currently at the LEGO Store in Disney Springs, but as ever, there’s no clue as to how long it will remain. Hurry over and see it for yourself while you can!
