As many of you recall, we reported earlier this week the TSA banned the souvenir on flights due to its similarity to an explosive. After further review, the TSA reversed the decision on the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge souvenir coke bottles.
The original decision to ban the bottles sent Star Wars fans visiting Galaxy’s Edge both in Disneyland and Walt Disney World into an uproar!
Fans became enamored with these coke bottles before SWGE opened earlier this summer in Disneyland. The coke bottles proved to be a collectors item for all fans far and wide, many bringing them home to put on shelves or as ornaments.
However, on Friday, the TSA reversed the decision by releasing a statement “We have completed our review and instructed our officers to treat these as an oversized liquid.” All travelers are advised to put the coke bottles in their checked luggage before travel.
For guests traveling with Lightsabers and/or Droids, the TSA does permit hand-built lightsabers and Astromech droids that are sold at the Black Spire Outpost.
The TSA’s “What Can I Bring” guide even has a sense of humor about it, saying: “Sadly the technology doesn’t currently exist to create a real lightsaber. However, you can pack a toy lightsaber in your carry-on or checked bag. May the force be with you. ”
