Discover Culinary Masterpieces at the 2020 Epcot International Festival of the Arts

The Epcot International Festival of the Arts is back Jan. 17 – Feb. 24, 2020! This festival is a celebration of art, entertainment, and, of course, food. You will discover creative twists on delicious bites and drinks around Epcot during the Epcot International Festival of the Arts. Today, we are looking at the menus from the different food booths that will be open for the festival.

Update: Walkway from the Grand Floridian Resort to the Magic Kingdom

Anyone who has been to the Magic Kingdom lately can attest to the fact that getting in and out of the park can take a long time. Whether you’re taking the monorail or the ferry boat, the crowds can be overwhelming at certain times of the day (especially when that monorail breaks down!). It’s had many guests over the years wondering why there isn’t an easier way. Well, guests of the Grand Floridian are about to get one!

For years, the perks of staying at the Contemporary Resort have included the fact that it is within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom. While the Grand Floridian Resort and the Polynesian Resort are also in close proximity, guests have been resigned to using the Resort Monorail to access the park. But recently it was discovered that the Walt Disney Company received a permit to begin construction on a walkway from the Grand Floridian directly to the Magic Kingdom!

Imagine how easily guests of the resorts will now be able to access their accommodations; no more waiting in long monorail lines! This will also help guests attempting to make it back to their cars after the fireworks, as many guests can opt to walk and shorten wait times for others.

It’s pretty clear that the walkway still has a long way to go before it’s completed, but it’s nice to see that construction is well underway! As a guest of the Grand Floridian, do you think this walkway would enhance your visit to Walt Disney World? Time will tell!

New Caramel Treat at Epcot! The Sweet Caramel Gingerbread Cookie Sandwich!

There’s a new caramel dessert at Epcot! The Sweet Caramel Gingerbread Cookie Sandwich. The new treat is available at the Karamell-Küche in the Germany Pavilion.

It consists of two soft gingerbread cookies with cream cheese frosting and decadent caramel in the middle of the cookie sandwich. The two gingerbread cookies are delicious! Since they are soft and chewy, it’s easy for hungry guests to bite into the cookie sandwich without spilling any cookie crumbs. Even the cream cheese frosting is great. For some, the frosting on top is the best part of a dessert, but here it’s featured as the yummy center! Each bite gives you a terrific blend of tastes and texture to enjoy. The caramel is quite rich and smooth. The Karamell-Küche takes pride in making wonderful caramel treats, which is evident with how tasty this treat turned out!

It certainly is a generous-sized dessert! The cookie sandwich is big enough to share and quite filling. Eating one of these will bring a smile to those traveling through World Showcase. It costs $5.99 and annual passholders can use their AP discount for purchasing the caramel dessert.

Disney Becomes First Film Studio in the World to Earn $10 Billion in a Year

Disney Becomes First Film Studio in the World to Earn $10 Billion in a Year. 2019 has been one of the best year in movies, at least for Disney, Pixar, Marvel Studios, and soon to be Lucasfilm! Disney has become the first ever film studio to gross over $10 billion in a year, and they still have one more major film premiere, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on December 20th, which will likely launch the studio well past the $11 billion mark before the end of 2019.

So what has led to this wildly successful year? The theatrical line-up for 2019 was set up for success. With at least one major title being offered by each studio and with staggered release dates through out the year, many fans were able to enjoy most, if not all, of the releases in theaters, adding to their earnings.

Disney and associated studios have had 5 titles join the “Billion Dollar Club” so far in 2019, with expectation for Frozen II to join the club within the next week or two, and high expectations for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to also join the Billion Dollar Club, possibly before the end of 2019.

Check out the titles that have joined the “Billion Dollar Club,” according to Box Office Mojo, in 2019:

1.) Captain Marvel

During its theatrical run, Captain Marvel, the first female led superhero film from Marvel Studios, grossed $ 1,128 billion, easily securing its spot in the Billion Dollar Club (BDC).

“Captain Marvel is an extraterrestrial Kree warrior who finds herself caught in the middle of an intergalactic battle between her people and the Skrulls. Living on Earth in 1995, she keeps having recurring memories of another life as U.S. Air Force pilot Carol Danvers. With help from Nick Fury, Captain Marvel tries to uncover the secrets of her past while harnessing her special superpowers to end the war with the evil Skrulls.”

2.) Avengers: Endgame

2019 not only saw the ushering a mega-hits in theaters, but a new #1 grossing film of all time with Avengers: Endgame. The cultivation of 23-films in the making, Avengers: Endgame earned an unprecedented $2.798 billion, surpassing James Cameron’s Avatar, which held the record for a decade.

“Adrift in space with no food or water, Tony Stark sends a message to Pepper Potts as his oxygen supply starts to dwindle. Meanwhile, the remaining Avengers — Thor, Black Widow, Captain America and Bruce Banner — must figure out a way to bring back their vanquished allies for an epic showdown with Thanos — the evil demigod who decimated the planet and the universe.”

3.) Aladdin (Live-Action)

In the age of Disney live-action remakes, it seems the films have been either extremely successful or complete flops at the box office. One success this year was Disney’s Live-Action Aladdin, which earned $1.05 billion at the global box office. The film looked to “fix” outdated references and topics discussed in the original animated film, and looked to provide the same story at its care, while ushering a new expectation for character usage and representation within filmmaking. Almost every live-action film by Disney has been wrought with controversy this year, but it appears Aladdin was successful at sharing “A Whole New World” of storytelling in 2019.

“Aladdin is a lovable street urchin who meets Princess Jasmine, the beautiful daughter of the sultan of Agrabah. While visiting her exotic palace, Aladdin stumbles upon a magic oil lamp that unleashes a powerful, wisecracking, larger-than-life genie. As Aladdin and the genie start to become friends, they must soon embark on a dangerous mission to stop the evil sorcerer Jafar from overthrowing young Jasmine’s kingdom.”

4.) Toy Story 4

The fourth installment of the Toy Story franchise from Pixar, Toy Story 4, was visually stunning and drew a huge summer crowd in 2019, earning $1.07 billion at the global box office.

“Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the gang embark on a road trip with Bonnie and a new toy named Forky. The adventurous journey turns into an unexpected reunion as Woody’s slight detour leads him to his long-lost friend Bo Peep. As Woody and Bo discuss the old days, they soon start to realize that they’re worlds apart when it comes to what they want from life as a toy.”

5.) The Lion King (Live-Action)

“Live-Action” The Lion King was met with the lions share of controversy over its entire production, from concept to finish, but still managed to earn $1.656 billion and the #2 spot for top grossing films of 2019, after Marvel Studios Avengers: Endgame.

“Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny on the plains of Africa. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother — and former heir to the throne — has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is soon ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. Now, with help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba must figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.”

Next: Frozen II

Frozen II currently sits around the $922 Million mark in global box office earnings according to Box Office Mojo, but is likely to pass the $1 billion mark within the following week or so, becoming the 6th title by Disney and related studios to earn over $1 billion at the. box office.

“Why was Elsa (Idina Menzel) born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna (Kristen Bell), Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), Olaf (Josh Gad), and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen II,” she must hope they are enough.”

“It’s difficult to describe the momentousness [year] that Disney is enjoying,” says senior media analyst at Comscore, Paul Dergarabedian. “Disney has consistently put almost unfathomable numbers on the board by delivering a diverse and irresistible slate of films, while capitalizing on the goodwill and viewer loyalty that has been built up by years.”

Walt Disney World Sweatshirts Have Cozy Chic Style

With the cooler weather here, a cozy sweatshirt is always a nice addition to our wardrobes. Luckily, we have spotted some seriously adorable Walt Disney World Sweatshirts at Disney Springs recently. These are super cozy looking, and come in four stylish designs.

What is fun about these sweatshirts, is that they are a lightweight material, and also have the “Walt Disney Logo” in shimmery appliques across the front. Each shirt features the logo with a different design, for unique and whimsical looks. You’ll find a traditional Mickey Mouse style, a classic Minnie Mouse, a chic black and silver, and also an enchanting pastel rainbow design!

These totally have a Spirit Jersey vibe to them. They are a bit different with no yoke, and the logo appears across the front, instead of the back.

The logo designs are also fabric appliques, that have been embroidered on! Each style has a shimmery look to it too. I love the longevity that embroidered appliques have too, there is no peeling, or fading!

A love letter to the art of animation!

Later last month we showed you a first look into the new Cirque Du Soleil show coming to Disney Springs in 2020 and now we are happy to say that the show has an official name! It will be called Drawn to Life and it looks amazing.

The story will follow Julie, a courageous and determined girl who finds an unexpected gift by her late father: an unfinished animation piece. This drawing will take her on a journey through her Disney childhood memories as she learns to imagine new possibilities and animate the story of her future.

The show will officially debut on April 17th, 2020 with previews starting on March 20th, 2020.

Watch a Livestream of the Riviera Resort Grand Opening

You can watch the grand opening of Walt Disney World’s Riviera Resort live on December 16th!

Disney has invited viewers who aren’t “home” to be a part of the special grand opening of the newest Disney resort. You can tune in to #DisneyParksLIVE stream on Monday, December 16th at 9:55am EST.

You will be able to see the resort be dedicated, listen to wonderful music from the European Riviera, and toast to the opening of the newest Disney Vacation Club property. Disney and the Epilepsy Foundation Partner to Share ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker‘ Photosensitivity Warning. In an unprecedented manner, Disney and Lucasfilm have partnered with the Epilepsy Foundation to ensure safe viewing for audience members who may have photosensitivity epilepsy.

“The Walt Disney Studios and the Epilepsy Foundation are working together to advise photosensitive viewers to use caution when watching “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” The film contains several sequences with imagery and sustained flashing lights that may affect those with photosensitive epilepsy.”

The Epilepsy Foundation shares this message with viewers who may be in the audience for the highly anticipated Star Wars finale, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker:

“We thank Disney for reaching out to us and proactively providing information to movie theatres and moviegoers in advance of the movie’s release. If you or someone you know are sensitive to lights, please consider the following as you make plans to watch the movie:

Ask a friend to watch the movie first.
Take your friend with you when you go see the film to alert you to which scenes contain the flashing lights so you block your eyes during those scenes.
Teach your friend the three simple steps of seizure first aid — Stay, Safe, Side — so that they can assist if you have a seizure.

For about 3% of people with epilepsy, exposure to flashing lights at certain intensities or certain visual patterns can trigger seizures. This condition is known as photosensitive epilepsy and it’s more common in children and adolescents.

Its heartwarming to see Disney take a minority of audience members into consideration with this warning to ensure the safety of their viewers who may have photosensitivity.

According to the Epilepsy Foundation’s website, “With a network of nearly 50 partners throughout the United States, the Epilepsy Foundation is leading the fight to END EPILEPSY^®. The Foundation connects people to treatment, support and resources; leads advocacy efforts; funds innovative research and the training of specialists; and educates the public about epilepsy and seizure first aid. According to the World Health Organization, epilepsy is the most common serious brain disorder worldwide with no age, racial, social class, national or geographic boundaries. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) estimates that 3.4 million people in the United States are affected by epilepsy. It is the underlying tendency of the brain to produce seizures which are sudden abnormal bursts of electrical energy that disrupt brain functions.”

For those who may not know, the finale of the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, will be the ending of a story that spans generations and touches fans all around the world.

New Stitch Candies Are the Cutest Sweets at Walt Disney World

The best possible way to enjoy all things Experiment 626 has just arrived at the Walt Disney World Resort and it tastes pretty sweet. That’s right, Stitch has his very own “Stitch Extreme” candy line!

You can find these sweet treats at The Darkroom store in Hollywood Studios. The packages are complete with an adorable image of Stitch on the front of the bag with the candy peeking out right underneath him. They shouldn’t be too hard to find!

There are four different types of the “Stitch Extreme” Candy- Mike and Ike Mega Mix Sour! Chewy Candy, Spicy Mango Gummies, Mini Rainbow Sour Belts, and Sour Taffy– though they were out of the very popular Spicy Mango Gummies.

The Mini Rainbow Sour Belts, Spicy Mango Gummies, and Mike and Ike Chewy Candy are all $6.29 and the Sour Taffy is $7.99.

These candies have released just in time for the Holidays and would definitely make great stocking stuffers! (That’s a hint for you, Santa!)

New Holly Jolly Christmas Tree Cupcake Arrives At The Polynesian Resort

There’s been some fun Christmas themed treats popping up all over the Walt Disney World Resort. The latest one we got to try was at the Polynesian Resort. This seasonal Christmas Tree Cupcake is packed with Christmas cheer.

The Christmas Tree cupcake is made up of a chocolate cupcake, some peppermint buttercream frosting for a tree skirt, and an ice cream cone covered in frosting to make a tree. There is a chocolate bow at the top of the tree. The inside of this festive cupcake is filled with a peppermint mousse. The choclate of the cupcake pairs really well with the mint flavor of the mousse inside.

You can find this delicious peppermint surprise upstairs at Disney’s Polynesian Resort at the Kona Island. The cupcake is $5.99 plus tax or a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan. This one seems to sell out, we were able to snag the last cupcake yesterday so make sure to head there early if its something you’d love to try.

Overall this wasn’t my favorite of all the new Christmas treats. The ice cream cone tree is more for decoration then eating since the frosting makes the cone so soggy. Construction has officially begun on Zootopia Land!

Disney has just begun construction on its all-new Zootopia themed land at Shanghai Disney Resort! After the opening, the park will become the first Disneyland theme park in the world, immersing visitors in the lifelike mammalian metropolis of Zootopia and the beloved characters from the movie.

Joe Schott, president and general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort, said: “This is an exciting time for fans of Shanghai Disney Resort and ‘Zootopia.’ Today, the official start of the construction of this new park is a major development of the project and also continues in Shanghai The Disney Resort continues to promise to create a new and unique experience for tourists, and attract tourists to visit Shanghai Disneyland. “

Zootopia Land will be adjacent to the “Dreamland” area and will bring brand-new attractions, entertainment performances, merchandise and yummy dining options to Shanghai Disneyland

Posters started showing up at the parks teasing guests on what to expect at the all-new Zootopia Land! The Polar Bears of TundraTown join Flash with more posters expected to arrive soon.

“Zootopia” is the second major expansion project of Shanghai Disney Resort, and its construction start is another important milestone in the development of the resort. Disney Receives 17 Golden Globe & 49 Critic Choice Nominations

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced yesterday the nominees for the 77th Annual Golden Globe® Awards. In the film categories, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen 2, Walt Disney Pictures’ The Lion King and Fox Searchlight Pictures’ Jojo Rabbit received two nominations apiece.

In the television categories, FX’s Fosse/Verdon leads with three nominations: Best Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Sam Rockwell) and Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Michelle Williams).

Other film and TV nominees include Hulu’s The Act, Catch-22 and Ramy; FX’s Pose; 20th Century Fox’s Ford v Ferrari and Pixar’s Toy Story 4. Winners will be announced on Sunday, January 5, 2020, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
