Brand New City Works Eatery & Pour House at Disney Springs is Crafty

Brand New City Works Eatery & Pour House at Disney Springs is Crafty

This week we had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of City Works Eatery and Pour House at Disney Springs. It is located on the West end right next to the recent addition, The NBA Experience. Thursday was the ribbon-cutting ceremony, that was full of excitement for this new restaurant that brings an upscale sports pub-type atmosphere to Disney Springs. This addition will make the tenth City Works location across the United States.

They call themselves “Beer Geeks”, and boast a selection of upward of 90 beers. They have an outstanding craft beer selection from local to global drafts. City Works doesn’t just have an amazing beer and wine selection, but they also are a scratch kitchen with outstanding American cuisine, with a twist. They make pretty much everything in-house even down to the sauces. City Works has its own smoker. They smoke their own meats! Even their salmon burger, and Ahi Tuna burger they hand prepare.

So now the question is how are the drinks and food. Let me start by saying amazing! There was nothing that we didn’t thoroughly enjoy. For Drinks, we tried a beer flight. City Works does a create your own beer flight which was our favorite option. We tried the Brown Sugar Brown Cow, by D9 Brewing.  It was sweet had notes of caramel, chocolate and a touch of coffee. Next, we tried the Big Wave by Kona Brewing this one is pretty popular we were told. This ale was a bit tropical hence the name but a bit more hoppy. While good we preferred the others due to their flavor components. The third beer we tried was a wheat ale called You’re My Boy Blue, crafted by Blue Bus Brewing. Out of the beers, this was my favorite it was creamy and had a blueberry flavor to it. We also added in a cider to get a variety we tried the Strawberry Lemonade Cider, made by Broski Ciderworks, which I couldn’t put down, it was so good. The beer flights are four 6 ounce pours and cost around $16-17.

In addition to that, we wanted to see how mixed drinks faired. I got the Cranberry Mojito which normally I’d go for a strawberry but our waiter recommended it. Let me tell you this mojito was so refreshing. I was impressed, it was perfectly made.

For starters, we enjoyed the Buffalo Shrimp, which was jumbo shrimp that was crispy and covered in the most perfect buffalo sauce on a bed of blue cheese crumble and dressing. So I’m not a huge shrimp or blue cheese fan but even I liked it! I didn’t even mind the blue cheese! It had just the right amount of spice. We tried the Kung Pao Cauliflower. I would get this again in a heartbeat. Its a sweet and spicy cauliflower with peppers, green onions, and peanuts and garnished with chilies. Its got a kick but the sweetness balances it out. We also had the BBQ Chicken flatbread that was great. It had the nice smokey Chicken with onions, and housemade BBQ and I loved the cilantro on top of it. Appetizers ranged from $10-18.

For the main course, we tried a few different options to see a variety of the menu. We went with the pork chop ($26), Chicken Tinga Tacos ($16), and the smokehouse burger ($20). The pork chop was my favorite, but I really loved all the flavor combinations in each individual dish. The chop was perfectly cooked with a sweet chipotle maple glaze that was out of this world! It was topped with spiced cinnamon apples and fried buttermilk onion rings, on a bed of potato puree. This is a must! It was absolutely delish!

The Chicken Tinga Tacos were full of flavor, pulled chicken, grilled corn pickled red onion, avocado mash, queso, and cilantro on corn tortillas, accompanied by a corn and black bean salad. On to the burger! We ordered the Smokehouse Burger and whoa! This was one massive burger with layers of goodness. It’s topped with BBQ pulled pork, BBQ Bacon, smoked provolone, onion relish, a Carolina mustard BBQ sauce and covered in crispy onion rings. This burger is served with tasty olive oil parsley fries which I could have eaten a whole plate of, but a little on the salty side.

For the sweet ending of the meal, I’m sure you all want to know what to get! The Peanut Butter Snickers Pie, get this!!  If you love peanut butter its heaven! I wouldn’t even call myself a huge peanut butter person but I loved this dessert! It was my favorite of the three. It is a peanut butter mousse, snickers, whipped cream, with a chocolate and caramel drizzle on top of an oreo cookie crust.

Next was the Smores Dip. This dessert we found out is a Disney location exclusive. It would be the perfect sharing dessert, definitely a hit for the kiddos very gooey with the chocolate and toasted marshmallows. Last but not least was a Baked Cookie Dough, it is cookie dough crisped in a little cast iron skillet with caramel and chocolate drizzle, topped with ice cream and whip cream. It’s good and sweet. All of these desserts cost $10 and are great shareable treats.

City Works really paid attention to creating their restaurant even down to the sound system louder towards the bar and softens the sound volume further from the bar. It can also become an open-air restaurant with all the windows being retractable. They have some really neat features here. Great big screens for the games. They even have an outdoor bar and seating area. There is something for everyone on the menu, even designated gluten-free options and vegan options labels on the menu. They even have an impossible burger as well. I highly recommend City Works Eatery and Pub. It is a great new addition to Disney Springs. Check out the NBA Experience after your meal right next door. As you can see day one and the place was hoppin’!

Follow Chip and Co for other reviews of new restaurants, as Disney has a few in the works!!

The New Olaf Oreo Cheesecake Is Like Warm Hugs

The New Olaf Oreo Cheesecake Is Like Warm Hugs

There’s a new flavor cheesecake at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe at the Norway Pavilion in Epcot. The Olaf Oreo Cheesecake has just arrived and it’s not only adorable but delicious as well.

The New Olaf Oreo Cheesecake Is Like Warm Hugs

Inside this fun themed bakery are loads of delicious snacks (hello traditional School Bread) but we couldn’t wait to try this new cheesecake. The cheesecake has an Oreo base crust and also Oreo cheesecake flavor. It’s also a really good size piece as far as snacks go. The Olaf on top was white chocolate.

This delicious Olaf Cheesecake was $5.99 plus tax or a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan. The cheesecake itself was light and fluffy and had an amazing flavor. This was definitely a good choice for a snack.

Dream Came True For Boy Who Wanted To Meet John Ratzenberger

John Ratzenberger

John Ratzenberger

Make-A-Wish and Disneyland Resort have been partners for almost 40 years. They work together to help bring joy to young children with medical conditions. Last year, Make-A-Wish granted nearly 700 wishes for children and their families at Disneyland Resort. They continue helping children such as Spencer, who wanted to share a frozen treat with actor John Ratzenberger at Disney California Adventure.

John Ratzenberger has been working for Pixar for years. Pixar fans have heard his voiced featured in films such as Toy Story,  Cars, and many more. He even voiced the Abominable Snowman for the Monsters Inc. franchise. This Pixar character happens to be one of Spencer’s favorites.

Meeting John Ratzenberger was a dream come true for the young boy. Spencer said, “He’s my hero. He’s funny and he sounds like such a nice guy. He’s in every Pixar movie and I love that. I feel happy when I watch him.” Spencer and his family left Maryland to visit Disneyland Resort on January 28th. Spencer brought along his beloved Abominable Snowman plush for meeting John Ratzenberger at the Disney theme park. The boy was delighted to have John call Spencer his friend and spend quality time together. The experience filled Spencer with happiness and made his heart shine brighter.

It’s inspiring to see a child meet his hero and enjoy a truly memorable day at Disney!

Mark Ruffalo Is Not Sure If ‘Hulk’ Will Return To The MCU

Mark Ruffalo Is Not Sure If 'Hulk' Will Return To The MCU

Mark Ruffalo Is Not Sure If ‘Hulk’ Will Return To The MCU. On Friday, Mark Ruffalo (Hulk/Bruce Banner) guest starred on The Graham Norton Show alongside David Schwimmer, Nick Mohammed, and Tamsin Greig. The Marvel Actor shared his embarrassing story about how he accidentally live-streamed the intro of Thor: Ragnarok at the world premiere of the film, which led to more discussion about his role as The Hulk/Bruce Banner in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Graham candidly asked Ruffalo if he would be in any more movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to which Ruffalo replied, “I don’t know.” As soon as he said those words his eyes went wide, Ruffalo covered his mouth, not quite sure he should have shared that information with the world.

Though it is far from a “spoiler” and not much can be determined by his answer, Ruffalo does make it is clear that Marvel Studios has not openly shared their plans for The Hulk or Bruce Banner in the future of the MCU. One reason being that Mark Ruffalo is notorious for revealing spoilers in the MCU, partly because he is not fully aware of what has been shared and what has been determined to be kept a secret. Mark is not the only actor that frequently lets spoiler slip in interviews. Norton and Ruffalo even joked in the episode about Tom Holland (Spider-Man/Peter Parker) also being a common spoiler for Marvel with Ruffalo claiming “I taught [Tom Holland] how to do that!”

At the end of Avengers: Endgame only Hawkeye, Thor, and Hulk/Banner remained out of the original Avengers characters, and with Thor and Hawkeye’s futures fairly set with Thor: Love and Thunder and the new Hawkeye Series coming to Disney+, it does beg the question: “What about Hulk?” Though Marvel has announced the development of She-Hulk for Disney+, which will introduce Bruce’s cousin, Jennifer Walters, to the MCU, there is no indicator that Mark Ruffalo will be tied to the project in any way other than by character associate.

Do you think Avengers: Endgame was the last time we will see The Hulk/Bruce Banner? What other Marvel projects would you like to see Mark Ruffalo return in? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Marvel!

Wickedly Good Entertainment from the Villains After Hours Party

We had such an amazing time at Villains After Hours. It was a really fun experience and we would definitely go again. The crowds were very light and the entertainment was amazing. The added villains made it really special in comparison to a regular After Hours event. If you’re wanting to visit the Magic Kingdom and not worry about long wait times and maybe get away from the heat of the day this is an event you would love. The park really felt empty and the atmosphere was so much fun.

Don’t forget to say farewell to your favorite villains on the way out. They were hilarious and ended the night on a plus.

Deleted Scene From ‘Frozen II’ Reveals Elsa and Anna’s Parents True Feelings About Hiding Elsa’s Powers

Deleted Scene From 'Frozen II' Reveals Elsa and Anna's Parents True Feelings About Hiding Elsa's Powers

Deleted Scene From ‘Frozen II‘ Reveals Elsa and Anna’s Parents True Feelings About Hiding Elsa’s Powers. Disney has released a deleted scene from Frozen II that gives us insight into how Elsa and Anna’s parents felt about hiding Elsa’s powers from Anna.

Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee shared this moment with fans in the deleted scenes category that will be available after the films digital release (February 11th) and DVD/Blu-Ray release (February 25th). Lee discusses how in early adaptions of the film, Anna was struggling with why her parents shut her out of Elsa’s life and never trusted her with the knowledge of her powers. The reason is truly heartbreaking and the moment is bittersweet having never been able to play out in the movie or the story so far… (We are getting major “Frozen III” vibes based on the way the directors discussed this scene.)

Check out the deleted scene for yourself and see why Elsa and Anna’s parents kept Elsa’s powers hidden from Anna:

We currently do not know why the scene was deleted, but likely this is an avenue the studio wants to further explore and it would have taken away from the track of the story featured in the film. We hope to see that exploration in another Frozen film sometime in the future.

“Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” Is Coming To An End

Star Wars

We have felt a disturbance in the Force… Some sad news for Star Wars fans. One of the current live stage shows at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is soon coming to an end.

Disney has confirmed that “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” will be on February 22nd.

No reason is given for the closure of this stage show. Some wonder if this means the show is moving to Galaxy’s Edge or if some new live-entertainment show will debut in the Star Wars-themed land. Nothing has been announced yet, but it would be wonderful if Disney Parks a created new Star Wars show.

“Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” has been at Disney’s Hollywood Studios since 2016. While Galaxy’s Edge was being built, the show helped bridge the gap by bringing more Star Wars content to the theme park. The character ensemble show served as a great opportunity for guests to catch memorable characters from the movies. Fan-favorites such as Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, Darth Maul, and Boba Fett were among the characters in the show.

It will be sad to see this show come to an end, but hopefully, this will make room for new entertainment offerings to emerge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

LADY AND THE TRAMP is a heartwarming tale featuring exquisite animation, unforgettable songs and one of the greatest love stories of all time.  The film, originally released in June 1955, was the first Disney animated feature to be filmed in CinemaScope.

Directed by Hamilton Luske, Clyde Geronimi, and Wilfred Jackson, the film follows the adventures of a young cocker spaniel from a respectable house, and her romantic escapades with Tramp, a devil-may-care mutt from the wrong side of the railroad tracks.  Lady’s comfortable life with her human family undergoes some dramatic changes with the arrival of a newborn baby, and she turns to Tramp for support.  Together they have several memorable outings, including a romantic moonlit spaghetti dinner at Tony’s, but things go seriously awry when Lady ends up being thrown in the dog pound.

The film features several enchanting songs by Peggy Lee (who voices the characters Darling and Peg) and Sonny Burke – including ‘Bella Notte,’ and ‘He’s a Tramp’.”
