‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Producer Shares Captain Jack Sparrow was Inspired in Part by Pepé Le Pew

Pepé Le Pew and Captain Jack Sparrow

Pirates of the Caribbean‘ Producer Shares Captain Jack Sparrow was Inspired in Part by Pepé Le Pew. After the very public decision to cut Pepé Le Pew from ‘Space Jam 2: A New Legacy‘, a resurgence of interest for the controversial Looney Tunes character has brought the spotlight back onto a conversation between Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Rob Lowe on the Literally! with Rob Lowe podcast.

In 2020, the pair discussed the inspirations behind Johnny Depp’s character, Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean films, with one of them being Looney Tunes’ Pepé Le Pew. “He’s [Johnny Depp] a very inventive actor.” Bruckheimer shared, “He had a young daughter at the time and he was watching a lot of cartoons and fell in love with Pepé Le Pew.”

Related: Johnny Depp ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Re-Hire Petition Reaches Over Half a Million Signatures

The producer had also shared a large inspiration for the character was The Rolling Stones’ guitarist Keith Richards. Jerry shared with Lowe that during production, “[Keith Richards] would go into Johnny’s closet and try on his jackets and then he’d leave wearing Johnny’s jacket!” Richards played Jack’s father in the Pirates franchise.

Reportedly, after a petition garnishing over half a million signatures was presented to The Walt Disney Company, the studio is reconsidering their choice to fire Johnny Depp from his role as the famed Captain Jack Sparrow. Warner Bros. has firmly stated they will not be rehiring the actor for the Fantastic Beasts franchise as Grindelwald.

‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ Director Teased the Series Villains may be “Non-Human”

Poster for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘ Director Teased the Series Villains may be “Non-Human”. Marvel Fans are gearing up for the premiere of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier this Friday March 19th on Disney+! In the intermediate time, Director Kari Skogland may have let slip that the mysterious new group of villains, under the direction of Baron Zemo, may not be as human as they appear in the trailers.

Skogland teased fans during an interview with The Direct, saying: “Well, like with anything you have you cherry-pick how much time you’re going to spend with them. I think also villains in general have a big concept behind them. What I do love is that in all of the cases we’re able to spend a little bit more time with them and get to know them and understand them a bit better.”

She added, “So as humans, or not humans as the case may be, whatever, we understand their motives a bit more. That makes for nuanced, and I’d like to say trickier grey zones. No one’s all bad, but no one’s all good. So it’s the exploration of where that takes you.”

Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” debuts a new trailer today, ramping up the excitement for Friday’s debut of the new original series on Disney+.  All eyes are on the shield, as Sam Wilson aka The Falcon, and Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier decide to team up—or rather, work together—when a new global threat launches them into an unexpected mission that may hit too close to home.

Check out the final trailer for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in the video posted below and get ready to stream the first of six episodes this Friday, March 19th:

YouTube player

As if we weren’t already excited for the series premiere of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier!

The series is directed by Kari Skogland with Malcolm Spellman as head writer, the six-episode series stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Emily VanCamp and Daniel Brühl. The series also features Erin Kellyman, Georges St. Pierre, Amy Aquino, Adepero Oduye and Danny Ramirez. “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” debuts on Disney+ March 19, 2021.

Who, or what, do you think Sam Wilson and James “Bucky” Barnes will be fighting in the new series? Are you excited to see the introduction of U.S. Agent to the MCU? We would love to hear your thoughts and theories in the comments.

Nine Dragons

Those traveling to Epcot’s World Showcase will see an alteration for one restaurant quick-service location. The Lotus Blossom Cafe is a popular quick-service location in the China Pavilion. Disney is now allowing Epcot park guests to sit inside the nearby Nine Dragons restaurant as additional seating.

Even though the Nine Dragons restaurant has yet reopen since the Disney Parks closing a year ago, it’s a nice change of pace to be back inside.

Covid travel restrictions could lessen by July 4th

Orlando Airport

Hopefully by July 4th Covid-19 Guidelines “will be much more liberal” according to Dr. Anthony Fauci on a recent CNN interview.

“If by the time we get to the Fourth of July, with the rollout of the vaccine, we get the level of infection so low — I’m not going to be able to tell you exactly what the specific guidelines of the (US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) are, but I can tell you for sure the guidelines will be much more liberal than they are right now about what you can do,” said Fauci.

Covid travel restrictions could lessen by July 4th

“Covid-19 continues to exert a tremendous toll on our nation. Like you, I want to be able to return to everyday activities and engage with our friends, families, and communities,” CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said at the White House briefing last week.

“Science, and the protection of public health must guide us as we begin to resume these activities. Today’s action represents an important first step. It is not our final destination.””As more people get vaccinated, levels of Covid-19 infection decline in communities, and as our understanding of Covid immunity improves, we look forward to updating these recommendations to the public.”

Related – Disney Cruise Line being sued by guests who claimed they caught COVID onboard ship

The new CDC guidance says fully vaccinated people can:

  • Visit other vaccinated people indoors without masks or physical distancing
  • Visit indoors with unvaccinated people from a single household without masks or physical distancing, if the unvaccinated people are at low risk for severe disease.
Covid travel restrictions could lessen by July 4th

Recently Bob Chapek said that he thinks facemasks will be around till atleast 2022 in a recent interview.

The outlook for parks is “really going to be determined by the rate of vaccination of the public.” He also said, “And that could accelerate our expectations, and give people the confidence that they need to come back to the parks. Will there be overlap until we know that we have herd immunity? Sure there will. But do we believe we’ll be in the same state of 6 foot social distance and mask-wearing in 22? Absolutely not.”

Since the outbreak Disney World has Enhanced Cleaning and Housekeeping Modifications, promoted Physical Distancing, and supported Reduced Contact at the theme parks.

Along with Park Reservations to limit the number of people in the parks, to strict Facemask rules, and even temperature screenings Disney World has gone above and beyond keeping their theme park guests safe.

We are hopeful that travel restrictions will be lessen over the next few months and we can get back to living normal lives soon!

After 1 year Port Canaveral remains hopeful cruises will be able to leave port soon

After 1 year Port Canaveral remains hopeful cruises will be able to leave port soon

It has been almost a year since the last passengers departed on a cruise from Port Canaveral, Florida. Disney Cruise Line has canceled all cruises through May and some through August. In spite of all of this, Canaveral Port Authority CEO Capt. John Murray remains hopeful that cruises will soon be able to depart from Port Canaveral.

Related – First Look at the New Disney Cruise Line Terminal at Port Canaveral

After 1 year Port Canaveral remains hopeful cruises will be able to leave port soon

Even though Murray is hopeful, it could still take months before cruises return to Port Canaveral. “At the time, everyone thought it was going to be 30 days, 45 days, and the industry would develop a plan and move forward,” Capt. Murray said. “But the CDC order remains in effect a year later…no end in sight when they might consider lifting the restrictions on sailing.”

Related – Port Canaveral predicts $43 Million loss due to lack of cruising

The port’s cargo business has been able to continue, but parking lots and passenger terminals remain empty. The Disney Fantasy, Disney Dream, and Disney Wonder are all currently off the coast of Port Canaveral, but they only come to port for maintenance and supplies.

“It’s been devastating to the businesses here. You know the hotels, the tourism is just taking a hit, and we’ve got ground transportation drivers, Uber drivers, LYFT drivers, buses from Orlando, you name it,” Murray said.

Now that President Biden signed a new stimulus bill, Florida’s ports will receive some relief. Still, Murray says the real relief for the port won’t come until more Americans get the COVID-19 vaccine.

After 1 year Port Canaveral remains hopeful cruises will be able to leave port soon

“It’s going to take the industry months to get back up and running,” Murray said. “It’s not something that if they said the restrictions are lifted tomorrow, we’d have our first ship on the weekend. It’s not going to happen.” It will take time to get crew members back and retrained on the new cruise protocols.

Disney Cruise Line is also hopeful regarding the return to sailing. Disney CEO Bob Chapek said they are hoping to resume sailings this fall.
