After 1 year Port Canaveral remains hopeful cruises will be able to leave port soon

It has been almost a year since the last passengers departed on a cruise from Port Canaveral, Florida. Disney Cruise Line has canceled all cruises through May and some through August. In spite of all of this, Canaveral Port Authority CEO Capt. John Murray remains hopeful that cruises will soon be able to depart from Port Canaveral.

Even though Murray is hopeful, it could still take months before cruises return to Port Canaveral. “At the time, everyone thought it was going to be 30 days, 45 days, and the industry would develop a plan and move forward,” Capt. Murray said. “But the CDC order remains in effect a year later…no end in sight when they might consider lifting the restrictions on sailing.”

The port’s cargo business has been able to continue, but parking lots and passenger terminals remain empty. The Disney Fantasy, Disney Dream, and Disney Wonder are all currently off the coast of Port Canaveral, but they only come to port for maintenance and supplies.

“It’s been devastating to the businesses here. You know the hotels, the tourism is just taking a hit, and we’ve got ground transportation drivers, Uber drivers, LYFT drivers, buses from Orlando, you name it,” Murray said.

Now that President Biden signed a new stimulus bill, Florida’s ports will receive some relief. Still, Murray says the real relief for the port won’t come until more Americans get the COVID-19 vaccine.

“It’s going to take the industry months to get back up and running,” Murray said. “It’s not something that if they said the restrictions are lifted tomorrow, we’d have our first ship on the weekend. It’s not going to happen.” It will take time to get crew members back and retrained on the new cruise protocols.

Disney Cruise Line is also hopeful regarding the return to sailing. Disney CEO Bob Chapek said they are hoping to resume sailings this fall.

Disney World Annual Passes are NOT on sale in the UK

Update: It looks like Stitch is up to his old tricks again. Unfortunately UK residents are not able to purchase Annual Passes at this time.

Disney shared with us this official annoucement.

This web page is out-of-date and we are working on updating it. Sales of new annual passes remain temporarily paused as part of our overall efforts to manage capacity with a focus on health and safety. With reduced attendance limits, we are continuing to focus on existing Passholders for the time being.

Here is the news we shared earlier this morning that got us excited…

New Walt Disney World Annual Passes have not been available to purchase for some time now. But we’ve got great news for UK Disney fans! Annual Passes are now on sale in the UK.

UK guests can now purchase the Disney Platinum Pass which includes:

Admission for a year to all 4 theme parks with no blockout dates
Park hopping ability
Disney PhotoPass downloads
Up to 20% off on select dining
Up to 20% off on select merchandise
Standard theme park parking

The Walt Disney World Platinum Pass is $1195.00 plus tax.

There are some modifications for annual passholders during the pandemic. Park pass reservations are required along with valid admission in order to enter a theme park. Annual passholders can make up to 3 park reservations at a time when not staying at a Disney hotel. Park hopping has also been modified. Park hopper hours are now in place and run from 2 pm until park closing at each theme park.

Disney Cruise Line is Looking for Character Performers

Have you missed Disney Cruises this past year? Are you aching to get back on the high seas, maybe even for a long time? Maybe you should consider working for Disney Cruise Line! They are currently auditioning for character look-alikes!

After the initial outbreak of COVID-19, sailings were suspended for Disney Cruise Line. They have continued to push back their timeline in accordance with CDC guidelines. Now, sailings are suspended through May 2021 with Disney Magic sailing canceled through August 2021. The expectation remains that Disney Cruise Line will resume sailing this fall. With this in mind, it looks like DCL is bringing in Cast Members to fill the proper roles.

Disney Cruise Line is Looking for Character Performers

Photo submissions will be accepted through March 21, 2021. Currently, Disney Auditions is only filling the roles of Mulan, Jasmine, and Moana. If you think you look like one of these Disney Princesses, now is your chance to become her! The anticipated start date is not yet known, but DCL hopes to resume limited operations by Fall 2021.

The successful candidate will be expected to handle entertainment events, meet & greets, and staged appearances. The contract is said to include competitive pay, room, and board, and a bonus upon contract completion.

Bake Some Magic With These Sorcerer Mickey Cupcakes!

It’s time to bake some magic! Put on your sorcerer hat and let’s make some delicious Sorcerer Mickey Cupcakes!

Inspired by Fantasia, these treats feature red frosting, a magical sugar cone, mini donuts and sprinkles! Delicious for sure.

Making them is super easy, all you have to do is follow this easy recipe from Disney Family and have fun!

SORCERER MICKEY CUPCAKES

INGREDIENTS:

Your favorite cupcake recipe
Blue candy melts
Sugar cones
White fondant
Vanilla frosting
Red food coloring
Mini chocolate covered donuts
Silver sprinkles
Wax paper
Toothpicks
Small star and moon cookie cutters

INSTRUCTIONS:

Prepare your favorite cupcake recipe. Let cupcakes cool completely before decorating.
Melt blue candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl, or over stovetop.
Line surface with wax paper. Coat each sugar cone with melted blue candy.
Roll out white fondant to 1/8″ thickness.
Punch out star and moon shapes. If you don’t have a moon shape, use a small circle shaped cookie cutter. Punch out a circle and then reposition to punch out a half moon.
Press star and moon fondant pieces onto blue candy melt coated sugar cones. Leave to set as the blue candy melt hardens.
Add red food coloring to vanilla frosting. Stir completely.
Frost cupcake and place blue sugar cone upside down on top as Mickey’s hat.
Cut mini chocolate covered donut in half. Insert a toothpick into each piece of donut and press into either side of the cupcakes as Mickey’s ears.
Top cupcake with sprinkles.

After you are done, you can enjoy your cupcakes while you watch Fantasia on Disney Plus!

Classic Disney Channel Games Now On Disney+

Remember the summer of 2008 when your favorite Disney Channel stars were competing against each other at the Walt Disney World Resort during the Disney Channel Games? That was a good summer!

Oh the days when you had to pick to root for just one Jonas Brother or your favorite Cheetah Girl, it was a hard decision!

If you miss it, then you are in luck because now you will be able to chant “If you wanna know, who’s the best. It’s the D-I-S-N-E-Y Disney Channel Games!” again! All you have to do is log in on Disney+ and relieve that amazing summer.

These games took place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida, were you one of the few lucky people that got to see them in person?

There were four teams competing: Red Team Inferno, Green Team Cyclones, Blue Team Lightning and the Yellow Team Comet. The winner team would win money that would go to charity.

These games had unforgettable challenges like waving through an obstacle course while linked together, matching their rival teammates to their baby pictures (that was a funny one), a human foosball game and of course the ultimate obstac-tacular challenge!

This even also included performances from the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus and many other Disney stars! Awesome right? What team were you rooting for back then? Let us know!

First Look at the new Minion Cafe at Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal Studios Hollywood is back open for the Taste of Universal! A fun food festival with all your favorite food and drinks from Universal Studios. Opening with this new festival is the Minion Cafe. This cafe is designed around the Minions from Despicable Me and have some fun new eats as well. Let’s take a look!

The outside of the new Minion Cafe is bright and colorful!! There are pictures of Minions trying some of the treats inside.

The outside of the new cafe has a nice seating area. Some fun colorful chairs and also some spots with umbrellas. Perfect for nice outside dining.

Some of the wall murals are so adorable. Here’s a bright colorful one with the Minions.

Listen to the New Entry Music in Epcot

There are a lot of changes occurring at Epcot from a new fountain, flagpoles, Guardians of the Galaxy Ride and more. Disney is finally giving Epcot some much needed TLC. However one thing you might not notice when you walk into Epcot is the music.

As you admire the new flagpoles and fountain you might hear new music playing in the background.

Disney Park and Marvel Fans Will Love this ‘WandaVision‘ and ‘The Haunted Mansion’ Crossover Print. We appreciate great fan art, but this piece brings together two of our favorite things! The cast of WandaVision and the iconic Disney Parks attraction The Haunted Mansion!

Artist Brian Kesinger created his own take on the fan favorite paintings from inside the Haunted Mansion’s stretching room by adding the characters Wanda Maximoff, Vision, Agatha Harkness, Monica Rambeau, Jimmy Woo, and Darcy Lewis from the hit Marvel Studios live-action series, WandaVision. He even included the Shark from the commercials, Jimmy’s cards from practicing up-close magic, and the deed Vision left for Wanda for the property he purchased in Westview. (Still tearing up from that moment of the finale, tbh… ?)

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘ Working Title Revealed Online. For those who follow the production side of film, it is common knowledge that movies, especially highly anticipated films, have working titles to throw off fans, but many times, the titles has a special meaning that clues fans into an aspect of the project. This is especially true for Marvel Studios films. Currently, several projects are in the works for the studio, but the most recent rumors may reveal the working title for Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The working title for the third Ant-Man film is reportedly, “GOAT Rodeo.” Yes, you read that right. GOAT Rodeo. Apparently, a “Goat Rodeo” is the “slang term for something going totally, unbelievably, disastrously wrong, and there’s nothing left to do but to sit back and watch the trainwreck.” With the introduction of Kang the Conqueror, it’s no surprise that things are about to take a turn for the worst. Especially if the Quantum Realm is involved!

Peyton Reed is set to return as the director for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania to complete the trilogy. Both Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly are set to reprise their rolls as Scott Lang (Ant-Man) and Hope Van Dyne (The Wasp). Also returning for the film is Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), Michelle Pfeiffer (Janet Van Dyne), Michael Peña (Luis) and Kathryn Newton (Cassie Lang). Writer and co-producer Jeff Loveness has been chosen by Marvel to pen the script.

Filming for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to begin in Summer 2021, and is rumored to premiere in theaters on February 17, 2023. This is a developing story, so be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Marvel!
