Veteran Military Employees Sail Newly Restored Pirate Ship Back To Legoland

Last September, the Legoland Resort in Florida had to remove it’s pirate ship, Brickbeard’s Bounty, from it’s water show. The ship was damaged during Hurricane Irma. After 10 months of extensive restoration, Legoland was finally able to return the ship to Pirate’s Cove. To celebrate their veteran military employees, Legoland gave them the opportunity to sail on the ship as it’s made it’s way back to port. Each branch of the military was represented and there were over 100 years of combined service between the employees.

The ship was completely stripped down to the frame in order to properly restore it. It returned to port complete flying new sails.

Celebrate Legoland Florida Resort this Independence Day with their annual celebration, Red, White & Boom. The whole day will be full of fun activities that include a dance party and a giant Lego American flag build. After dark, guests will experience Legoland’s biggest fireworks display of the year. Guests can wear special 3D viewing glasses and enjoy as Lego bricks illuminate the sky above Lake Eloise. Red, White & Boom will take place from 10am and 9pm. It is included with park admission. 3D glasses will be available beginning at 8pm and the fireworks start at 9pm.

Active duty military members receive free admission to Legoland Florida Resort without restrictions or blackout dates. They must present their military ID at the ticket window to take advantage of this offer. VIDEO: Tim Allen Spends Time At Toy Story Land

Toy Story Land celebrated it’s grand opening on Saturday June 30th at Hollywood Studios. During it’s dedication ceremony on June 23rd, Bob Chapek, the Chairman of Disney Parks Experiences and Consumer Products was joined by none other than Tim Allen, Buzz Lightyear himself. To officially declare Toy Story Land open, the two pulled a Crayon lever that sent Slinky Dog on a wild dash around Andy’s backyard.

Tim Allen and his family had the chance to experience the new land! He and his daughter Elizabeth took a spin on Alien Swirling Saucers along with everyone’s favorite little green aliens. They also dashed along with Slinky Dog. He and his wife Jane even enjoyed some 4D midway games on Toy Story Mania!

Of course, his Toy Story Land day would not be complete without visiting the Buzz Lightyear statue standing guard out front of Alien Swirling Saucers.

Progress on the Disney Skyliner is coming along nicely. We are so excited for this project to be completed and provide another mode of transportation at The Walt Disney World Resort!

When this project is complete the Disney Skyliner will connect EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Riviera Resort (DVC), and Caribbean Beach Resort, with the final stop at the Generation Gap bridge.

This project should make getting around the Walt Disney World Resort a lot easier for guests. Construction is expected to be completed around the middle of 2019. We are extremely excited to have more resorts connected to theme parks! My guess is staying at a Skyliner resort will be just as convenient as staying at a Monorail resort when next year or the year after!

Imagine if stunts could be preformed by a robot?! Disney is currently working on a new project that could transform the stunt industry forever – both in film and television and even in its theme parks thanks to the Disney Stuntronics figure!

Earlier this year, Disney researchers presented Stickman, a z-shaped robot capable of performing somersaults while flying through the air. This incredible innovation has continued to evolve into the first Stuntronics figure—capable of accomplishing extreme aerial maneuvers with precision. Take a look at the development of a Stuntronics figure, and watch it in action.

In their mission to create a realistic robotic figure capable of performing complex, acrobatic stunts, Imagineers designed a 90-pound Stuntronics figure to use sophisticated onboard sensors to make its own real-time decisions—all while flying 60 feet in the air. It knows when to tuck its knees to perform a somersault, when to pull its arms to twist, and even when to slow down its spin to make sure it sticks that perfect landing.

Disney remains at the forefront in the evolution of both Audio-Animatronics® figures and advanced robotics as the Company continues to find innovative, unconventional ways to bring thrilling stories to life.
