Pop Warner Celebrated the Organizations 90th Anniversary at Walt Disney World

Pop Warner Celebrated the organizations 90th anniversary at Walt Disney World. The 2018 Pop Warner Super Bowl and National Cheer & Dance Championships starts today at ESPN Wide World of Sports. My family is a part of the football and cheer world for year. I coach youth cheerleading, my husband coaches youth football, both of my boys have played football since they were 6 years old, and my daughter has cheered since she was 6 as well! Walt Disney himself knew how important these types of athletic programs were to the youth of America.

Pop Warner has been providing youth football for 90 years! This week they will celebrate with over 60 teams from around the nation competing for a title in their division. The organization got its start in 1929 in Northeast Philadelphia as a way to get local teenagers involved in an athletic program, so a four-team Junior Football Conference was formed. In 1933, a local clinic was scheduled for top college coaches to speak to almost 800 athletes. Due to inclement weather, the only coach to show was Temple’s head coach Glen Scobie “Pop” Warner, thus the youth program was renamed the Pop Warner Conference.

The first National Pop Warner-Disneyland Bowl Football Festival, now known as the Pop Warner Super Bowl, was held in 1959 in the Holidayland area of Disneyland. In 1969, the game was moved from Anaheim, California to Orlando, Florida as a prelude to the opening of Walt Disney World. From 1971 -1980, the competition had a couple of name changes including the Walt Disney World-Pop Warner Football Festival and the Pop Warner – Walt Disney World Bowl. Since 1997, the Pop Warner Super Bowl has been played at the current ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

In 1960, Walt Disney Productions produced a two-part television episode entitled “Moochie of Pop Warner Football” broadcast on ABC as part of Walt Disney Presents. In the second part, From Ticonderoga to Disneyland, Walt Disney appears in a cameo role when the team wins the First Annual National Pop Warner Disneyland Bowl game.Today, there are over ten million alumni of the Pop Warner Football program. The National Football League Players Association estimates that between 60-70% of all NFL players began their careers playing Pop Warner Football.Pop Warner Spirit teams have participated in the organization for many decades on the football sidelines but it wasn’t until the 1970s that the Cheer and Dance Program was officially recognized. The first National Cheer and Dance Championship was held in 1988 and the event celebrated its 30th anniversary last year.

“There’s No More Festive Place To Be” Video Released

“There’s No More Festive Place to Be” according to Maxwell Glick and his new Disney-inspired Christmas song. Glick, aka mrcheezypop, wrote the song with musical artist and blogger Rjay Taylor. A music video, produced by Glick, was shot at Disneyland in Anaheim, California and was released on November 16th, 2018. It has since gotten over 10,000 views. Glick is most famously known for his role as Mr. Collins on the Emmy award-winning series The Lizzie Bennet Diaries and has appeared on numerous television shows, including The Office and Castle.

The song is available on all streaming platforms, and the music video is available on Glick’s mrcheezypop YouTube channel, a home for family-friendly content with over 10 million views and over 60 thousand subscribers. Glick releases content daily, often inspired by his many trips to the Disney parks. Glick was named one of the top ten Disney influencers you should know about by Luxury Influencer.

“There’s No More Festive Place To Be” is the second music video Glick has released. He previously produced a video for “Magic in the Air,” another Disney-inspired original song he wrote in 2015 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Disneyland park. The holiday festivities at Disney inspired Glick and Taylor to write “There’s No More Festive Place To Be.” “The Christmas season at Disney is the most magical time of the year,” Glick says. “It has always been a dream of mine to create a song that people can sing as they celebrate the season in the park.”

From start to finish, Glick and Taylor produced and recorded the song, as well as shot and edited the music video, in twelve days. Producing the song took a team of four, while a team of six spent twelve hours shooting the music video in various areas of the Disneyland park.

Another Netflix/Marvel Series Bites the Dust

Say it ain’t so! After three up and down seasons, including the fantastic, most recent one, Netflix has canceled Daredevil.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Netflix said, “Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix. We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note. We’re thankful to our partners at Marvel, showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years. While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.”

Marvel also released a statement: “Marvel is extremely grateful to the huge audience that loved Marvel’s Daredevil. From the moment of young Matt’s first act of heroism to the birth of Page, Murdock, & Nelson, it has been an unbelievable journey. We are incredibly proud of the amazing showrunners and writers starting with Drew Goddard and Steven DeKnight, Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie and Erik Oleson, Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio and our casts who brought our characters to life with such excellence, and every one of the fantastic crews in NYC. We look forward to more adventures with the Man without Fear in the future.”

This is the third Netflix/Marvel series to meet its demise in recent weeks. Both Iron Fist and Luke Cage were previously canceled. This leaves only Jessica Jones and The Punisher, whose most recent seasons have yet to air. If any announcement is to be made about their fates, one would expect them to be made after the upcoming seasons.

The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen had his great moments, and at least in my house, will be missed.

Not familiar? Let me fill you in! Once you purchase this pass, you’re credentialed. Well, sort of. Upon purchase, you’re given a credential pass with 8 pull off tabs. It makes a really cool souvenir! Each tab can be redeemed for one food item and one non-alcoholic beverage. You can use your pass at any of the several Festive Food Marketplace locations within the park. Redeem all 8 tabs and walk away with a full belly!

So, a little confused about what to redeem your tabs for? There are definitely an overwhelming amount of options. So, to point you in the right direction, I recommend the Shrimp and Grits with Andouille Sausage at Holiday Duets. Or pop into Winter Sliderland and pick up some Holiday Stuffing Mac & Cheese. Travel Back in Time as We Take a Closer Look at the Backstory to the Newly Re-Imagined World of Disney Stores.

The World of Disney Stores has been newly re-imagined, and we could not be happier! With the most anticipated store re-opening officially here, it is no wonder Disney Addicts are buzzing with excitement! The World of Disney stores are located in Downtown Disney at Disneyland and in Disney Springs at Disney World. They are your one-stop shop for items such as kitchenware, plush animals, Mickey ears, jewelry, or that special memorabilia to commemorate your magical adventures. As you journey through the store be sure to take a look at the decor and discover the small touches the Imagineers used for the store’s new re-imagined backstory. Imagineers enriched the store with new history tied to the legacy of The Walt Disney Company and Walt’s journey through California. Now join us as we journey back in time as we take a closer look at The World of Disney Store in California.

Our journey begins as we immerse ourselves in the store’s past with “ghost art” and faded advertisements. While visiting The World of Disney in California, can you find the fading banner for “Adventure through California”? How about the ad for the 1401 Series Luxury Coaches, which is a reference to Imagineering’s street address?

As we continue on our journey we enter into a famous animation studio. Through this imagined history, Walt Disney expanded his animation studio beyond the famous location in Burbank. Although The World of Disney stores are not animation studios they are still very much alive with the magic of Disney. Can you find the paint jars lining the wall behind the registers? Take a closer look, you might find a little extra pixie dust that brings the surrounding wall art to come to life!

Of course, the imagineers don’t stop there! Those registers you are standing at? Those are re-imagined as re-purposed desks from the Nine Old Men themselves, which include actual sketches from the Animation Research Library! On the wall you will find a large bulletin board also dedicated to the Nine Old Men. The bulletin board provides snippets of animation advice for aspiring animators, as well as, caricatures of each of the men. You will also find find the reproduction of the Nine Old Men sketches, but don’t look away, never know what you might see!
