Character Couture Makeover Packages at Walt Disney World

Disney World is an amazing place to have fun, but with that fun also comes some downtime. Several of the resorts at the Walt Disney World Resort have full-service salons that give you the ultimate pampering experience to unwind and relax. Not only are the salons the perfect place to relax, but now they offer “Character Couture Packages” where Disney stylists transform for your hair, makeup and nails into designs inspired by your favorite classic characters!

There were a few glitches with the scheduling of these at first, but I am happy to report that these makeovers are going perfectly now. Take a look at the video for some princess makeover inspiration!

These are just a few of the characters that the salon can transform. Other character styles include princess, villains, fab five, “galactic” styles and “hero/heroine” styles.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp”, the newest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is now in theaters and Disney Springs is celebrating with an epic photo opportunity inspired by the film. Just outside the AMC Disney Springs 24 Dine-In Theatres, you can find the brand new #WaspWings photo wall.

The artwork was hand-created by artist Apexer on a recent visit to Disney Springs. Check out the time-lapse video below to watch how this intricate piece came together.

Discover New Disney Cruise Line Destinations In France

Disney Cruise Line offers some amazing adventures all over Europe. Next year, for the first time DCL will stop in Brest and Toulon, France! These beautiful, not so ‘poor provincial towns’ seem straight out of a certain Disney movie. Discover enchanting medieval villages, elegant castles, street markets and incredible seaside vistas!

Brest, France is a picturesque naval port city. It is also considered the gateway to the charming region of Brittany in northwestern France. The city is divided by the Penfield river and features medieval landmarks, scenic coastlines and exquisite dining. Seafood straight from the ocean to the table and the most decadent crepes imaginable.

Discover New Disney Cruise Line Destinations In France

Brest’s oldest landmark, the Château de Brest, is a 1,700-year-old castle. It is currently home to the National Maritime Museum. You can also visit the Tour Tanguy, a 14-century watchtower positioned just across the river, whose rounded walls house historical maps, coats of arms and city models.

The whole family will love a day at the incredible Océanopolis aquarium. This center is the only one of its kind in Europe. You can discover unique exhibits, 50 different tanks and more than 1,000 species. Brest also has a magnificent conservatory where extensive work is being done on the cultivation of rare and endangered species. Here you can relax among the many tropical gardens or in the lush valley with waterfalls and streams.

Near the city center is Plage du Moulin Blanc. This amazingly beautiful white-sand beach is perfect for kicking back with a cocktail or trying out surfing, windsurfing and other watersports.

If you need more adventure, the ruins of Abbaye de Daoulas, a 12th-century abbey, is located 15 minutes outside of Brest. It still features a beautiful cloister and gardens. Explore the grounds and fort surrounding the medieval lighthouse at the Fort du Petit Minou while you are there. It is located just westward along the coast of Brest. There is also great hiking on nearby granite cliffs where you’ll find hidden beaches and medieval military defensive hideaways.

Toulon, France is located on a beautiful natural harbor in the Mediterranean. Nestled in France’s renowned Provence region, Toulon is known for its seaside resorts, fine wines, Roman and Medieval architecture and pleasant climate. The city itself also has much to offer, with fantastic dining, shopping and discovering to be enjoyed at every corner.

Toulon’s historic Old Town features quaint squares and spectacular fountains. While you’re there, you won’t want to miss the enormous Provençal Market. This traditional street market boasts tons of fresh food, delicacies and flowers galore. You can also check out the bustling hub of Upper Town for local cafés, restaurants and fashionable stores.

Like all of Provence, Toulon is famous for its superb cuisine. Here you can easily find excellent restaurants and cafes that all feature culinary specialties include tapenade, ratatouille and bouillabaisse. While you’re there, be sure to try chichi frégi, a donut-like pastry flavored with orange blossom, and cade toulonnaise, a chickpea-flour flatbread.

You can also take a cable car to the summit of Mont Faron for stunning panoramic views of the harbor. There are footpaths for hiking, ideal spots for picnics and fun play areas for the kids. For World War II buffs, the area includes a fascinating museum of military history that commemorates the Allied invasion on the coast of Provence in 1944.

Adventure outside of the city to Marseille, the country’s second-largest city. You can explore its famous Old Port and the basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde. Or take a journey to the glamorous sites of the Côte d’Azur (you may know it as the French Riviera), home of the Principality of Monaco, chic Saint-Tropez and cultured Cannes.

Disney Cruise Line guests can explore Brest during a seven-night Western European cruise from Barcelona on July 14, 2019. Toulon is a featured stop on a weeklong Mediterranean cruise from Rome on June 22, 2019.

Disney Vacation Club Beverage Tasting Series

Disney Vacation Club members are invited to sample delicious beverages, think cocktails, wines, spirits or beer, with an incredible view of the Magic Kingdom. Members and special guests can participate in a weekly Beverage Tasting Series at Top of the World Lounge.

On select Tuesdays and Thursdays DVC members can participate in the Beverage Tasting Series, which will focus on a different type of beverage each week. Each tasting session also includes a small–plate food pairing that complements the beverage served.

This event takes place at Top of the World Lounge, one of the most exclusive spaces at Walt Disney World Resort. It is located on the 16th floor of Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and provides an incredible view of Magic Kingdom park.

The Beverage Tasting Series is held select Tuesdays and Thursdays through December 2018 from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. Please visit the Disney Vacation Club website for more detailed information. The cost per session is $40 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuity. Reservations are required and members may book in advance by calling Member Services at (800) 800-9800. Full payment is required at the time of booking, with a credit card guarantee. Cancellations need to be be made 48 hours prior to the tasting to avoid losing the full payment cost.

445 Children's Hospitals Receive Magic Through Disney Hospital Care Packages

In March 2018, Disney’s Team of Heroes launched. Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced a five year plan that would see more than $100 million in company resources dedicated to reimagining the experiences of patients and their families in children’s hospital. The Walt Disney Company has been working with children’s hospitals for many years. They began delivering care packages to patients almost 15 years ago. Team of Heroes has continued that initiative and this year, Disney’s Hospital Care Packages were able to bring even more magic to children.

“The Hospital Care Packages have been a critical part of the work we do for seriously ill children because they allow us to make the greatest impact by reaching children in 445 hospitals across the country. We are thrilled that, this year, we were able to double the value of each package received in order to deliver more opportunities to bring some comfort and joy during their stays in the hospital,” says Elissa Margolis, senior vice president, Enterprise Social Responsibility, The Walt Disney Company.

Partnering with the Association of Child Life Professionals, the Walt Disney Company carefully selects products that can help reduce stress in those tiny patients. Those products also promote playtime. The packages are assembled and distributed to 445 children’s hospitals in the US and Canada with the help of the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

The products in these magical care packages are intended for children ranging from toddler to 18 years old. They include Walt Disney Studios DVDs, Disney store toys, digital products featuring apps and games and much more. They also have something that can’t be found anywhere else: an exclusive Marvel comic book created in partnership with the Association of Child Life Professionals. The books are currently in their fifth versions and are a very popular care package item.

The Walt Disney Company has also helped to transform play areas at children’s hospitals in the US and London over recent years. That coupled with the care packages brings comfort and eases stress of not only the patients, but their families as well. Disney also partnered with Lucasfilm and Starlight Children’s Foundation to host a special Star Wars experience at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco. They even brought Pixar animators, Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for an “Incredible” day for patients and their families.

All ten Shula’s Steak House locations throughout the country are being honored by Wine Spectator Magazine with their 2018 Award of Excellence. The Walt Disney World location of Shula’s at Disney’s Dolphin Resort has also received their Best Of Award Of Excellence. The Wine Spectator awards honor those establishments with interesting wine selections, food pairings and varieties.

Candlelight Processional Dining Packages Available July 11th

Candlelight Processional, an incredibly loved guest event at Epcot’s International Festival of the Holidays will begin booking dining packages on Wednesday, July 11th. Guests plan holiday vacations around this exciting event every year as they get to see their favorite celebrity narrators. For the first time, this year’s event begins on Thanksgiving Day.

If you haven’t had a chance to experience the Candlelight Processional, it is truly an incredible event. It presents the traditional story of Christmas and includes a 50 piece orchestra, a massed choir and of course, a celebrity narrator. There are three showings per night at 5:00pm, 6:45pm and 8:15pm at the America Gardens Theatre. The ever coveted Candlelight Processional Dining Packages are available on select days and evenings. These include a great meal at an Epcot restaurant and guaranteed seating for one of the performances.

The Wine Bar George New Lunch Menu is Now Available

Check out the Wine Bar George new lunch menu! Starting today this Disney Springs eatery has a new lunch menu with plates and Georges pairings!

The new lunch menu is available beginning on July 6th. The menu will include Steak Frites, a BLT + C and Chicken Salad Sandwich – all available daily. These new plates start at just $12.

The Chicken Salad Sandwich is topped with roasted tomatoes and served on brioche with house-made chips. The BLT + C is bacon, lettuce, tomato on brioche with a four-cheese sauce and served with house-made chips. If you order the Steak Frites you’ll get skirt steak, caramelized onion aïoli served on fries.

You’ll also find a variety of Small Plates on the lunch menu. Some of our favorites include: Chicken Skewers, Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites and Jicama-Kohlrabi Salad. And don’t forget their lists of specialty cocktails, beer, ciders and, of course, wine!

I had the pleasure of seeing Ant-Man and the Wasp at the Walt Disney Studios a few weeks ago. Getting a chance to be on the Studios lot was a huge treat and then getting to see Ant-Man and the Wasp was just icing on the cake.

Having loved the first Ant-Man movie I was really looking forward to seeing the 2nd film in the franchise.

Without giving away too much of the movie, I will tell you Paul Rudd and Company delivers on the comedy. The writing and storyline on the 2nd film were even better than the first. The first Ant-Man movie can be a little slow at times, Ant-Man and the Wasp seem to move forward a little faster than the first.

In Ant-Man and the Wasp, the dynamic between Scott Lang and Cassie Lang really tugs at your heartstrings yet again. I guess since I am a parent I really love how Scott is a family man and superhero all in one.

The breakout star of Ant-Man and the Wasp for me has to be Luis. Marvel gave him a much bigger sidekick role in the movie and can I just say I love his storytelling. The whole audience erupted in laughter when he broke off into one of his stories.

Ghost isn’t your typical bad person in the film. Without giving away too many spoilers the storyline works around this character and Hank Prim’s wife Janet van Dyne played by Michelle Pfeiffer.

Overall I would have to give Ant-Man and the Wasp a good solid A. It delivers big action from teeny tiny heroes and will keep you laughing all movie long. Having seen the film a couple of weeks ago I am looking forward to seeing it again with the Disney Fashionista.

Make sure to stay all the way to the end credits for a BIG surprise that ties into the other big movie this summer The Avengers.
