Columbia Unveils Epic New Star Wars Empire Crew Parka

Columbia Sportswear will be launching their epic new Star Wars: Empire Crew Parka on Friday, Dec. 7. This parka takes fans behind-the-scenes with a limited edition piece of apparel that is actually inspired by the original jacket worn by the cast and crew while filming Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

The jacket was worn by the crew while filming the Ice Planet Hoth scenes for Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. In the icy wilderness of Norway, a small group of cast and screw filmed several infamous scenes nearly 40 years ago. These iconic scenes are some of the most recognizable from the film. The crew needed winter gear to keep them shielded from the sub-zero temperatures in the region. Their jacket featured a unique design that currently makes it one of the most sought-after items among Star Wars collectors. Now fans can go behind-the-scenes with Columbia’s limited edition Star Wars: Empire Crew Parka.

The Star Wars™: Empire Crew Parka pays homage to even the smallest details of the original design while incorporating Columbia’s weather-defying technologies to help protect against the most extreme winter conditions.

The officially licensed jackets will be available, while supplies last, on columbia.com/StarWars starting at 12:01 am EST on Dec. 7 and in-store (during retail hours) at select Columbia-branded retail locations in the U.S., Canada, Europe, China, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea.

This is a technical high-performance jacket that features a waterproof, breathable and critically seam-sealed outer layer to protect against the elements, while the Omni-Heat™ thermal-reflective lining and insulation keeps you warm. Features include a removable, adjustable hood with removable faux-fur trim, two-way collar, ribbed comfort cuffs, wrist zips and multifunctional pockets. The unisex style sells for $500 USD.

Select U.S. stores are also carrying a handful of parkas signed by Mark Hamill, the actor who played Luke Skywalker in the film. Fans can purchase a signed jacket for $1,980 USD, and all proceeds of that sale will be donated to charity.

Chris Evans may not be done with his role as Captain America after all… or is he? Back in October Chris said his goodbye to the shield in an emotional tweet and all of us died a little inside. Chris has brought the role to life and after eight years as Cap we can’t imagine another replacing him! We have word that he may actually not be done with the franchise…

Joseph Russo, who along with brother Anthony wrote and directed this year’s “Avengers: Infinity War” and next year’s sequel, and directed Evans as Captain America in two previous films, told The Associated Press: “I think it was more emotional for him than us. Only because he’s not done yet. And I don’t want (to) explain what that means but the audience will soon understand what I’m talking about.”

“We killed half the Marvel universe so for us it really is about, in what ways can we surprise the audience and tell a very challenging story,” Russo said.

He would confirm that at least at this point the movie, which is in post-production, is the longest Marvel film ever. “We’re about halfway through the editorial process and it’s standing about three hours right now. It’s a very complicated movie,” noted Russo. “It has a lot of characters in it and you know we are putting in the work, so we’ll see where it ends up, but it definitely has a lot of story in it.”

Will the Avengers 4 trailer air during GMA on Thursday? Whispers were going around that the Avengers 4 trailer was going to drop during the Good Morning America show on Wednesday the 5th. Now reports are coming in that they have pushed that back for the funeral of the late President George Bush. We will keep you updated and in the loop as we get more details.

Make sure you check back for the official drop of the highly anticipated Avengers 4. We still have no details on a title, but we are hopeful the trailer will also give us the new title. We are anxiously awaiting more details that can fill us in with the future of the Avengers. Will there be a way to reverse Thanos “snap?” We hope the new trailer fills in some of the missing pieces.

Players of the mobile game, Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War and followers of the fantasy pirate series rejoice! Captain Armando Salazar, the legendary pirate hunter, and his fearful ship, the Silent Mary, have been added to the game. Captain Salazar appears in-game as a phantom called Salazar’s Shade with powerful skills on the hunt for vengeance. He will command the Silent Mary as a Unique Tactician.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War now also features Alliance Battle, which allows alliances to battle against each other. Honor Points are granted to all participants and can be used at the Market to purchase beneficial in-game goods. Also, the Pirate Hall and Weapon Workshop can now be upgraded to S level 3, the details of monsters can be viewed at Monster Cage before they are released back to sea, and a brand-new Tier 3 Tactician by the name of Malik Bolston has joined the collection. This is one fantastic update, but it’s not over just yet.

The end of the year is near and the developer wants to give back to the community to show their appreciation for the players and their support throughout the year. For December’s Attendance Event, those that check in a total of 7 days throughout the event period will receive a Unique Tactician Invitation. There are also various holiday and end-of-year events in the works that will provide an abundant number of gifts for everyone.

Disney Animation Boast 42 Nominations for Annual Annie Awards

The 46th annual Annie Awards will be taking place in February of 2019. February 2nd to be exact. If you’re unfamiliar with the Annie Awards, that’s entirely ok…we’ll be happy to fill you in!

The Annie Awards are presented each year by the Los Angeles branch of the International Animated Film Association. Rewarding excellence in animation, the Annie Awards have taken place for the past 46 years. Disney films are no stranger to these accolades. Coco, Tangled, and many other Disney features have been nominated as Disney has dominated the awards in the past. In 2017, The Walt Disney Picture Company earned 35 overall nominations…very impressive!

This year doesn’t seem to be much different as the nominations have been released and there is plenty of Disney flair helping to compile the list. Out of the 36 nomination fields, Walt Disney Pictures secured a whopping 42 nominations…with Wreck-It Ralph 2 and Incredibles 2 leading the way!

Pixar’s Incredibles 2 seems to be in for a big night as they brought home 11 total nominations, followed by Wreck-It Ralph 2 at 10. Mary Poppins Returns, Christopher Robin, and several Disney television programs round out the list of potential winners!

Awards, accolades, and achievements are nothing new to the Walt Disney Company, but with a plethora of sequels released this year, it is good to know that Disney is still king! Disney animation teams are surpassed by none and without a doubt extremely deserving. It will be fun to see if the scheduled 2019 releases can top 42 nominations. With the likes of Frozen 2 and Toy Story 4, it’s sure to be another banner year for the Walt Disney Picture Company.

Disney Imagineers Once Again Proving Why They're The Best As New Techs Come To Parks

The technology used in Disney parks attractions is top-of-the-line, to put it mildly! If you’ve had the opportunity to experience recent additions of rides such as “Flight of Passage,” you know exactly what I’m talking about. Disney is at the forefront of technological advancements and they aren’t stopping any time soon! Keeping true to their every-growing and constant-expanding (Walt’s ideas), new technologies equal hyper-experiences for guests that no other company can contend with.

We recently learned via Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks Experiences and Consumer Products, that Disney has grand plans to push the technology envelope even further. During the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo Chapek enlightened us through a presentation that featured exclusive looks at some of the new tech coming to Disney Parks in the near future.

Included in his presentation, Chapek emphasized the coming additions of life-like AudioAnimatronics. You seriously have to check these things out! High flying stunt animatronics open a whole new world for Disney Imagineering. Especially considering the addition of Marvel superheroes park’s character lot and shows. Oh yeah…and don’t forget the implications for soon-to-open Star Wars lands. In addition, a new ride system is featured in the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy” attraction at Epcot was discussed.

The future is exciting for us Disney fans! Through experimentation and partnership, we are in for spectacular visuals and experiences as new technology comes available to Imagineers. As the theme-park wars rage on, Disney remains the reigning champion and trend-setter. And we aren’t complaining! As raising the bar only leads to one thing…better and more immersive experiences for us!

Disney Shareholders Raise the Bar for Chief Executive Bob Iger.

The Walt Disney Company has raised the bar for Chief Executive, Bob Iger, in order to win his bonus. Disney has announced Monday, after shareholder push back, that more rigorous benchmarks are required for Iger. Iger was slated to collect a $100 million equity grant in 2021, a grant that has been previously criticized by the Disney Company’s shareholder advisory groups. However, in the new agreement Iger has to show that his company’s total shareholder return outperforms 65^th percentile of companies in the S&P 500 index. In the original agreement granted to Iger, The Walt Disney Company had to outperform in the 50^th percentile. Which is a significant increase.

Recently in March, Disney shareholders voted to reject a compensation plan for Iger and other executives in a nonbinding advisory vote. In the vote, 52% of the shareholders voted no on a plan that would have paid the CEO up to $48.5 million a year in total compensation from 2018-2021. In addition the additional $100 million equity grant would follow in 2021 if the Disney shareholders met the S&P index. However, the advisory firm institutional shareholder services have called the additional equity grant “excessive”.

The Millennium Falcon Ride will have enough pods to handle 1800 people per hour!

**Update! Blooloop is reporting that Bill Zanetti an Orlando, Florida university teacher who studies theme park design, operations and management expects 200,000 people to line up to be the first inside the new themed land. This could mean the longest wait times in the history of Disney Parks!

We just found out that the new Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride coming to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge will have pods with just a few passengers but they will be able to handle approximately 1800 people per hour.

AT D23 EXPO 2017, DISNEY PARKS CHAIRMAN BOB CHAPEK ANNOUNCES NEW DETAILS OF ATTRACTIONS PLANNED FOR STAR WARS: GALAXY’S EDGE — Walt Disney Parks Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek shared new details and a glimpse inside the two attractions planned for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge coming to both Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif. and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Fla. in 2019. The D23 Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse event brought us a lot of exciting news! None more so than new details about a “galaxy far far away”, though! Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products, revealed some amazing new details about the upcoming Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge lands coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

When Discussing all of the exciting news Bob Chapek said, “We are currently in the midst of one of the most extraordinary periods of expansion in our history. We are always pushing the boundaries of what’s possible as we deliver world-class experiences and attractions, new hotels and entertainment, itineraries and destinations for our guests.”

And it does seem that boundaries are being pushed in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. While we knew the land would feature an interactive story that will put guests right in the middle of the action, we learned that this will be, at least partially facilitated by using the optional Play Disney Parks App. Additionally, it was announced that John Williams, the composer of the original movie score as well as all of its sequels and countless other iconic film scores, would compose original music for the land! Guests at the event were treated to an exclusive preview of some of the music.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort Will Host 2018 Christmas Day Services

At Christmas time it is common to attend a Christmas Service to celebrate the holiday, but what about when you are at Walt Disney World Resort during Christmas? Don’t fret! Disney will be hosting Christmas Services for their resort guests at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be hosting traditional Christmas Day services in the Fantasia Ballroom on December 25, 2018, with two religious service offerings.

Catholic Mass: 8 A.M. and 10:30 A.M.
Protestant Service: 9 A.M.

“Great! How do we attend?” For guests who plan on attending a service we recommend arriving early to the resort. Guests staying at Disney’s Contemporary Resort can walk from their room down to the Fantasia Ballroom to attend the services. Please be aware, parking at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be highly restricted to only guests who are staying at The Contemporary. It is suggested to use other forms of transportation if you are staying at a different Walt Disney World Resort. It is possible you will be turned away from the resort if you are driving your own vehicle.

Guests who have access to the Magic Kingdom Monorail System are encouraged to take the monorail from their resort to The Contemporary, mainly guests staying at The Grand Floridian and Disney’s Polynesian Resort. For guests staying at other Walt Disney World Resorts you will be able to take other forms of transportation, such as bus or watercraft, to the Magic Kingdom and transfer to another bus, watercraft, monorail, or even walk to Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
