A new live action film from Walt Disney Studios is still in the early stages. Based on a favorite villainess, Cruella De Vil, the studios are setting up the basics and are in early negotiations with Emma Stone for the lead role.
The film based on the script by Kelly Marcel will showcase Cruella as the main character and perhaps give us a backstory as to how she became the evil and obsessive dog napper. Andrew Gunn is producing the film which still does not have a director but is a high priority for the studio which hopes to start shooting later this year.
Cruella De Vil first appeared in the animated classic 101 Dalmations in 1961. The 1996 live-actin film by John Hughes had Glenn Close in the role of Cruella as owner of a fashion house obsessed with furs and puppies.Although Cruella De Vil is a villainess, she is still one of the more likable ones and fans will be excited to see where Disney takes this new live action film .
