The Grinch was spotted at a Florida Mall in November!

Grinch was spotted at a Florida Mall

The Grinch was spotted at a Florida Mall in November!

That sneaky Grinch is at it again! This time the Grinch was spotted at a Florida Mall!  He was found hanging out in a living poster!  Could you imagine? You are just minding your own business, doing your holiday shopping, then BAM! The Grinch starts talking to you from right inside a poster!!  I’m not sure how I would react!

For two weeks in early November the Grinch came to life in a living poster to spread the news about the events and activities at Holidays at Universal Orlando Resorts!  Aww, the Grinch does have a heart!  He was spreading Christmas cheer for all to hear!  Or maybe he is just trying to get everyone to come visit him during his event, The Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular?  That sneaky Grinch!  You can watch the hilarious reactions of unsuspecting shoppers below!

YouTube player

The Grinch wasn’t done though!  Now that he had convinced shoppers to visit him until January 6th at Universal’s Islands of Adventure he felt he needed to help more.  He decided to spread more cheer by helping out at the Vacation Call Center!  I am not sure how much “helping” he did.  He seemed to cause more mischief rather than work.  However, he did bring along some of his Whoville friends!  They didn’t do much help either.  It’s the thought that counts right?!

Since there is only a few weeks left before January 6th, which is still plenty of time to still visit him by the way, we don’t think he will be up to no good for too much longer!  However, we would still caution you to continue to be aware of your surroundings.  You never know when he might pop back up!

World of Color Won’t Return Until Next Year

World of Color Won't Return Until Next Year

It has been speculated that the fan favorite the World of Color might be back in time for the holiday season, but on Tuesday, December 18th Disney California Adventure confirmed that the popular show won’t return until next year. The show has been dark since April when it is believed an unexpected incident occurred during routine maintenance for the show.

The World of Color is an approximate 22-minute-long show that’s based on the idea behind “Fantasia” and tells a story through amazing color, projections, and sound on the backdrop of 1,200 musical fountains that shoot water anywhere from 30-feet to 200-feet in the air.  High definition images are projected throughout the show with the help of 28 projectors, 14 of which are submersible.  The show finds its home on the Pixar Pier lagoon, where it entertains guests nightly and has quickly become one of the most popular shows to date at California Adventure Park.

Although Disney has not publicly stated why the show went dark in April, there are many speculations surrounding the shows closing.  Many of which revolve around an electronic control panel that was left open during routine maintenance and the platform it’s located on was submerged destroying the computer.

World of Color Won't Return Until Next Year

Since the show’s closing in April, the lagoon has sat partially emptied exposing the musical fountains while repairs have taken place.  It wasn’t until recently the lagoon was filled again so that the fountains were submerged and no longer visible to park guests, giving hope of the shows return.  Whatever incident took place it has taken Disney some time to repair the $80 million light show and it appears they are not finished just yet but are hopeful the show will return within the next several months.

Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor In The Magic Kingdom Gets A New Show Sign

Guests have been enjoying this attraction since its addition to Tomorrowland in 2007 after the release of the wildly popular 2001 Pixar Film, Monsters Inc. Starring Billy Crystal and John Goodman as the monster duo, Mike Wazowksi (Mike) and James P. Sullivan (Sulley). Monsters Inc. has a prequel film called Monsters University that shares the story about how Mike and Sulley met in college. Monsters University was released in 2013, 12 years after Monsters Inc.’s release! Both films have content showcased in the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor Show.

Mike Wazowski is the MC for the show and is trying to collect laughter, instead of scares, to provide energy to the Monster World. Him and his monsterific friends put on a comedy show for guests that includes participation from members of the audience. You will be sure to find your laughing place at Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor!

New Food Booth Coming to Hollywood Studios

Food Booth coming to Hollywood Studios

There’s a flurry of activity amidst the Flurry of Fun at Hollywood Studios. New construction projects are popping up all over the park. This most recent project has us especially intrigued. Situated across from the Toy Story Land entrance next to Joffery’s this new booth looks like it is going to be a new food location.

New Food Booth Coming to Hollywood Studios

It is no secret that we are Disney food lovers so if it is indeed a new food location this would be exciting news! The location makes it seem likely. While we LOVE Woody’s Lunch Box, only one food location in the area is a bit limiting- more variety would be welcoming.

New Food Booth Coming to Hollywood Studios

From the looks of things, we will have a while to wait before we get to enjoy whatever wonderful new treats Disney has in store for us. No information is currently available for the completion of this project, but you can be sure we will bring you all the details of this new food booth at Hoywood Studios (?) as it progresses.

Wetzel’s Pretzels Grand Re-Opening in Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort

Wetzel’s Pretzels Grand Re-Opening in Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort

After an extensive renovation, Wetzel’s Pretzels has returned to the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort. Wetzels, a pioneer of pillowy, fresh-baked pretzels, celebrated the grand re-opening of its flagship store with a DJ, giant pretzel games, and the famous pretzels people have come to know and love!

The new California-inspired store features an indoor-outdoor feel and a modern, upscale design. Two local artists were commissioned for the design of the new store, Trek Thunder Kelly and Dan Medina. Kelly is known for his large-scale murals such as the Sky Mural in Venice Beach. He painted a mural that stretches around the inside of the store featuring images of Pasadena, Wetzel’s hometown and 12 hidden pretzels. Medina is known for his bronze sculptures like the Antonio Aguilar monument in LA, and he designed custom door handles that form a pretzel when the doors are closed.

The new store has debuted an extensive menu with items like the Cheese Meltdown, Pepperoni Twist, Wetzel Dogs, Cin-a-Bitz, and fresh or frozen lemonade. The pretzels are made from scratch each day with simple ingredients like flour, water, yeast, and salt. This has been the Wetzel’s way since the first location opened 25 years ago.

The Downtown Disney District is undergoing many changes and transitioning into a bustling area for all guests to enjoy. This year, the promenade section has welcomed Splitsville Luxury Lanes, The VOID, and the reimagined World of Disney Store. Along with the new Wetzel’s Pretzels, Ballast Point brewery and Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes will be coming soon too.

There is some good news, however, as the newly refurbished attraction is scheduled to reopen just in time for all of you brave Christmas guests.

On December 22, the Liberty Square Riverboat will sail again down the Rivers of America. As well, during the renovation a portion of the river was drained…you can expect that to be refilled as well! The gorgeous riverboat will sail from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. beginning this Saturday (according to the latest times guide).

So, use sailors can stop sulking. Our favorite Riverboat is almost ready to maker her rounds again at the Magic Kingdom! We can once again float our way around the picturesque Rivers of America!

Love it or hate it, a live action Aladdin is coming and Guy Richie has cast Will Smith as the Genie! Entertainment Weekly had an exclusive look behind the scenes and have given us a first look at the film currently in production.

*Update!  Will Smith has responded to push back about his character and said he will be blue for the movie via CGI! He is only in disguise as a human in this form we see in pics.

“A Disney musical about a street urchin who befriends a genie and falls in love with a princess isn’t a premise that comes to mind when one thinks of Guy Ritchie. The British director, 50, is known for gritty thrillers featuring robberies, explosions, and car chases, such as Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. But switch a car for a magic carpet, replace stolen money with a stolen lamp, throw in an underdog hero, and you can start to see why Ritchie felt reconceiving Aladdin for live-action might be in his wheelhouse when the studio approached him in 2016. “My skills and experience could add enough to make it feel fresh and worth it, but not so much so that it would wash away nostalgia,” Ritchie tells EW. He adds that because he has five children, “making a kids’ film was very appealing to me.”- Entertainment Weekly

Here we have a first look at the cover of Entertainment weekly with Big Willy larger than life as the Genie. There are strong opinions about who should take the role on of Genie… No one will ever replace the hilarity of Robin Williams in the animated classic. The jury is still out on this portrayal. We have mixed emotions among the Chip and Co. writing staff. We are split right down the middle on our take on Will’s role in the film. I guess we will have to wait and see!

“I think it’ll stand out as unique even in the Disney world,” Smith says. “There hasn’t been a lot of that hip-hop flavor in Disney history.”-Will Smith

Stay tuned as we bring you more on this as it develops! The film is set to hit theaters May 24th, 2019.

Review: Storybook Dining Character Dinner at Artist Point

Review: Storybook Dining Character Dinner at Artist Point

Review: Storybook Dining Character Dinner at Artist Point

Create your own culinary tale with your family and friends at the new Storybook Dining Character Dinner at Artist Point in Walt Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge Resort. Once upon a time, Wilderness Lodge’s famed restaurant, Artist Point, decided to give guests a new fairytale dining experience.  With a little faith, trust, and pixie dust, Artist Point turned into a beautiful Storybook forest filled with some of Walt Disney’s most famous characters – Snow White, Evil Queen, Grumpy and Dopey.  I had the pleasure of dining among the magical trees in the reimagined Artist Point, and it is spectacular!

Merchandise

Just outside of the restaurant check-in is a new pop up cart filled with everything your little princess will need to dine with Snow White.  It is a great place to find last minute dress-up items and autograph books.

Check-in

Review: Storybook Dining Character Dinner at Artist Point

A new check-in stand is decorated in beautiful poinsettias to welcome in guests.  It is located just outside the entrance to the Territory Lounge.  Once checked in, you will be given a text notification when your table is ready.  If you are dining in December, be sure to check out the Christmas carolers in the lobby while you are waiting for your table.

Menu and Table Setting

Review: Storybook Dining Character Dinner at Artist Point

Your dinner begins just like you are reading a fairytale.  The menu transforms into your storybook.  An adult dinner is $55.00 or one table service credit. For a children’s meal, it is $33.00 or one table service credit. The table setting brings the magical forest right to your table.  The serving tree in the center spins, to invite sharing among the table.  On the napkin, the apple has all the character signatures on the back side.

Drinks

To kick off the evening, I chose the Enchanted Apple specialty cocktail.  The floating apple slice was a fun surprise.  Let’s just say, I made this drink magically disappear!

Shared Appetizers

Three adorably cute mini appetizers wondrously appeared on my tree.  The winter squash bisque was particularly satisfying because that night was very chilly outside (for Central Florida standards). Wicked shrimp cocktail is right…it was wicked in all the right ways and those shrimp were huge.  The Hunter’s Pie was delicious with the house made fruit preserves!.

Entree

With a recommendation from my server Keith,  I chose the “Cottage” Seafood Stew.  Seriously when he brought out my bowl, my jaw hit the floor.  This stew is a thing of seafood beauty.  It is hearty, flavorful and FULL of shrimp, bay scallops, and mussels.

Shareable Desserts

To finish the story, the desserts lived happily ever after.  The “poison” apple was the cutest little apple with beautiful detail.  The white chocolate – apple mousse was so light, and made for a perfectly poppable bite.  An unexpected surprise from a traditional apple pie or cobbler was the fairy tale gooseberry pie. It was delightful!  I scraped that little bowl clean.  I saved the miner’s treasure for last.  Layers of yum on yum on yum.

The real showstopper is the Huntsman’s gift to the Queen arriving at the table in a gorgeous box full of eery mist. A single chocolate ganache heart with cracked maple popcorn was the literal icing on the cake.  That is the way you end a meal!

Characters

Okay, okay now on to what makes this dinner oh so enchanting…the characters.  To signal Snow White and the Dwarfs arrivals, the magical trees around the restaurant will light up, and you will hear some familiar tunes.  I love that Snow White had holly in her bow for Christmas. She was the sweetest and so welcoming. Meeting Dopey and Grumpy was a hoot! I told Dopey I was doing his race, and he just shook his head in disbelief.  Grumpy was being funny hiding behind the pillar by my table.  It was really nice being able to have time for fun interactions, unlike some other character dining where you feel rushed.  Standing ominously “inside” of the storybook, the Evil Queen is perfectly evil in every way. You know the Queen is on point when the little boy in front of you in line runs and hides at his table because she gave him an evil stare.  I love seeing moments of magic like that.  You will find Disney Photopass ready to snap your photos with the Evil Queen after you are finished with your dinner.

Overall Thoughts

Having loved the original Artist Point, I did not really know what to expect with this new character dining.  Well, I was pleasantly surprised.  This is not your regular buffet Disney character meal. The menu is still refined with thoughtfully crafted dishes, but with an extra dash of Disney magic. I can NOT wait to come back with my dad after we run Dopey next month.  Literally, thinking of this meal while running the marathon will probably be the only thing getting me through!  When will your family be dining with Snow White and the gang? Post in the comments below. Stay hungry Disney friends.
