Disney PhotoPass Day 2018

Walt Disney World will be hosting its third Disney PhotoPass Day on August 19th! The past two years were such an amazing success that Disney has decided to go even bigger this time around. Stay tuned to the Chip and Co for more details about all of the picture-perfect memories you can capture on PhotoPass Day at the Disney parks on August 19th!

This extremely popular day is celebrated with exclusive photo opportunities at all four parks and Disney Springs. Last year, Disney focused on Disney princesses. There were a number of photo opportunities featuring Disney Princesses, including special Character Experiences: Dopey joined Snow White, Meeko joins Pocahontas, Mushu joins Mulan, and Genie joins Princess Jasmine. At the locations, Guests also received event-exclusive Animated Magic Shots that celebrated the qualities that help heroines achieve their dreams.

Disney also had available “Dream Big, Princess” photo backdrops. The backdrops were located at each of the four theme parks and Disney Springs during Disney PhotoPass Day.

The first year Disney PhotoPass day was celebrated, one photo spot at Epcot showcased a fisheye lens shot. Guests also had a blast with the Disney PhotoPass Challenge, which was the perfect way to capture memories all across the parks at some of the most iconic Disney locations – all while having fun. Those who were ready for the challenge visited a set of pre-selected locations and had their photo taken by a Disney PhotoPass photographer. (Guests who completed the challenge in a single park on August 19 received a complimentary photo download at Walt Disney World Resort and a complimentary photo print at Disneyland Resort).

Pixar Shorts Film Festival Playing At Disney California Adventure

The second program of the Pixar Shorts Film Festival begins today at Disney California Adventure. The Film Festival is at Disneyland as a part of the limited time Pixar Fest. Pixar Shorts “Bao”, “La Luna” and “Sanjay’s Super Team” are now showing at the Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land.

These Pixar Shorts are incredibly heart warming stories that not only make you laugh but find a place in your memories forever.

“In “Bao,” an aging Chinese mom suffering from empty nest syndrome gets another chance at motherhood when one of her dumplings springs to life as a lively, giggly dumpling boy. Mom excitedly welcomes this new bundle of joy into her life, but Dumpling starts growing up fast, and Mom must come to the bittersweet revelation that nothing stays cute and small forever.”

“”La Luna” is the timeless fable of a young boy coming of age in the most peculiar circumstances. Tonight is the very first time his Papa and Grandpa are taking him to work. In an old wooden boat they row far out to sea, and with no land in sight, they stop and wait. A big surprise awaits the little boy as he discovers his family’s most unusual line of work.”

“In “Sanjay’s Super Team” accomplished artist Sanjay Patel uses his own experience to tell the story of a young, first-generation Indian-American boy whose love for western pop culture comes into conflict with his father’s traditions. Sanjay is absorbed in the world of cartoons and comics, while his father tries to draw him into the traditions of his Hindu practice. Tedium and reluctance quickly turn into an awe-inspiring adventure as the boy embarks on a journey he never imagined, returning with a new perspective that they can both embrace.”

The second half of the Pixar Shorts Film Festival will continue through the end of Pixar Fest, concluding on September 9th. Grab your 3D glasses at the Sunset Showcase Theater to see these lovable shorts before they leave!

Epcot International Festival of the Holidays Is Here

Disney is starting to announce some details on the different holiday happenings that will be at the Walt Disney World Resort this year. Some returning, and some new! Keep reading for the holiday happenings we have heard about so far!

Festival of the Holidays will be returning to Epcot starting November 18 through December 30, 2018. Discover a festival like no other, featuring the joyous holiday traditions of our 11 World Showcase nations. Epcot® International Festival of the Holidays surrounds you in the wondrous sights, sounds and flavors of the season as celebrated by cultures near and far.

Stitch Holiday Gift Hunt will return to the World Showcase as well!

Epcot’s Candlelight Processional, one of the most popular Epcot traditions, returns in 2018 with celebrity favorites to recite the stirring story of Christmas accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and massed choir. This dazzling presentation returns November 22 through December 30, 2018, and we have a couple of Candlelight Processional Celebrity Narrators to share. See the list of narrators we know of so far.

Christmas at Hollywood Studios is starting to be 1 of my favorites. The new Toy Story Land will have Christmas decorations up. The statues throughout the land will have a holiday overlay as well as the rides. There will be a special Christmas meet and greets within Toy Story Land as well. And we can’t forget the Christmas music playing! Lasers will also be added to Tower of Terror They will be added to the top and midsection for the Sunset Blvd Holiday Show. There will be 4 sets of multicolored lasers. They are designed to light up the show. 2 additional lasers will be hidden to focus on the tower for projection to outline and dazzle parts of the Hollywood Hotel.

Santa Goofy will be returning to the Once Upon A Time store. There will also be a Christmas version of the Frozen sing-along show. And Echo Lake will have 3 times more Christmas decorations this year!

The Christmas Tree Trail will be returning to Disney Springs. There will be some new trees. Some of those include a Haunted Mansion tree with the topper being the Bride with a heart. A Star Wars tree with lightsaber garland, 4 Park trees with Monorail garland, a full Nordic winter tree, and Mickey and Minnie nostalgia tree. The ornaments on the trees with be avaulable for sale at the trail instead of at the Christmas shop.

A Frozen Holiday Wish will be returning to the Magic Kingdom this year. Sandy Claws, Scrooge, and the 7 Dwarves will be back for the Christmas party as well. There also may be a rumor of a new dance party.

The sleigh rides will be returning to Wilderness Lodge this year- $84 per person and you also get a limited edition pin as your keep sake.

Marvel Teams Up With Photographer Bo Bridges For Limited Edition Art

Marvel Entertainment has teamed up with renowned action photographer Bo Bridges to create a line of limited edition fine art and wall art. The art will bring together iconic Bo Bridges photographs with Marvel’s superheroes and villains.

Bridges, who has been shooting for over 20 years, has been dubbed by Elite Daily as the “World’s Most Badass Photographer,” and ESPN has touted his portfolio as a “pyramid wall filled with iconic pieces of history.” He is best known for capturing some of the most difficult action shots in the industry and once in a lifetime adrenaline pumping moments in often dangerous conditions that require Bridges’ lightning fast capture. His work also includes movie posters for the Mission Impossible franchise that had him hanging out of an airplane with Tom Cruise at 180mph, shots of big wave surfers like Laird Hamilton, Garrett McNamara, and Kai Lenny riding the biggest waves of their lives and shark attack reenactments for Discovery Channel’s Shark Week.

Bridges has built his career on action photography. He has an innate ability to anticipate the movement and trajectory of the body so that he not only doesn’t miss the split second when an athlete breaks a world record or makes history but also captures the most visually appealing shot. This is the first time Marvel has partnered with an artist to create photo-real artwork that takes Marvel heroes off the pages of comic books and into our real world. Instead of swinging throughout the streets of New York on the 2D comic book page, Bridges has found a way to capture Marvel characters in our real world environments from a true photographer lens, with all the depth and dimension of the surroundings to match that of the Marvel characters.

His first collection with Marvel will be called Hidden Heroes. It will feature Marvel’s iconic characters hidden within Bridges’ breathtaking photos. The characters will be placed in environments that are true to their origin, history, superpowers, or personality. Spider-Man will hide in the shadows ready to save the day as a skateboarder flies overhead, unknowingly in Venom’s territory. Black Panther Mountain will be revealed through the fog of a moody shot taken as a thunderstorm looms in the distance. Ant-Man and the Wasp will be shown in an aerial beach shot, hidden amongst the tiny ant-sized beach goers sunning themselves by the shore. Rocket Raccoon stands in the shadows as the guardian of one of California’s most protected surf spots, warding off unwanted visitors. The collection will also feature scenes with Captain America, The Hulk, Groot and Thor, amongst others.

Marvel Teams Up With Photographer Bo Bridges For Limited Edition Art

“We loved the idea of the characters being hidden in the images, almost like Easter eggs” said Bridges. “Not only does trying to find them serve as a conversation starter, but their more subtle placement allows for a more sophisticated piece that can serve as the focal point of a home or office while still nodding to the owner’s love of Marvel.”

Marvel x Bo Bridges Hidden Heroes will launch on July 18th at the X-Games in Minneapolis, an event that Bridges has been a lead photographer at for the last 20 years. A selection of pieces from the first collection will be on display, including limited edition surf and skateboards, fine art prints and a 10’ x 20’ mural wall of The Hulk creating a tsunami wave. Bridges will be on-site for signings July 20-22.

There will also be a launch event at Bridges’ gallery in Manhattan Beach, California on September 22 to celebrate the unveiling of the full physical collection.

It may be July but Disney is already prepping for the Christmas season. Chip and Co was invited to a special holiday preview and we have awesome pics to share of the new holiday merchandise that will be available this year.
