Mary Poppins Day at Wilderness Lodge!

Y’all! Hold the phone! They are having a Mary Poppins day at Wilderness Lodge for the opening day of the anticipated movie, Mary Poppins Returns! I already wish I was at Disney Parks and Resorts every single day, but I SERIOUSLY wish I was going to be there tomorrow!

On December 19^th guests can enjoy a day full of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious activities that everyone in the family will enjoy! I grew up watching Mary Poppins. I love everything Mary Poppins. I need everything Mary Poppins! Pssst, the new merchandise is to die for!

Now on this special day guests can immerse themselves in activities that will make them feel as if they are actually in the movie! Starting at noon and running until 3:45pm there will be a new activity featured every half an hour. These amazing will take place at the Copper Creek Springs pool area. Take a closer look at the magical adventures you will go on.

Starting at 12pm until 12:30pm, guests can take part in “Magical Sidewalk Art”. I can only imagine the possibilities of adventures you could go on! Will you be dancing with penguins, racing carousel horses, or maybe go on your own adventures, such as diving with dolphins or rocketing to outer space? The possibilities are endless!!

From 12:30pm-1:00pm, guests can play “What’s in your bag”. Mary Poppins bag had a whole coat rack! Although, I am unsure what exactly this entails, we know it will magically delightful regardless. Then from 1:00pm-1:30pm guests can partake in the “Spoonful of Sugar Relay Races”.

The day just keeps getting better! From 1:30pm-2:00pm guests will have a “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” scavenger hunt, followed by a “Practically Perfect Pool Part” from 2:00pm-3:00pm. The party will end with “A Step in Time Dance Party” from 3:00pm-3:30pm before guests can “Decorate Your Own Bag” from 3:30pm-3:45pm. I certainly hope they teach how to do the famous chimney sweep dance during the Step in Time dance party!

Can’t make it to the Mary Poppins Day celebration? No worries, Wilderness Lodge will still be holding their daily evening activities featured below, but with a special Mary Poppins twist! I love that they decided to do this Mary Poppins Day at Wilderness Lodge!

Penny Marshall from ABC’s Laverne & Shirley Has Passed Away

In sad news today, Actress Penny Marshall from ABC’s Laverne & Shirley has passed away at the age of 75. Marshall is most known for her starring role in the 1970s sitcom “Laverne and Shirley,” and later broke ground as the first female director to gross $100 million with “Big” in 1988. She passed Monday night at her home in Los Angeles due to complications from diabetes, according to her publicist, Michelle Bega.

Marshall also directed and executive produced “A League of Their Own,” also starring Hanks, Geena Davis, and Madonna. “A League of Their Own” was the second of her films to surpass the $100 million mark. “Penny was a girl from the Bronx, who came out West, put a cursive ‘L’ on her sweater and transformed herself into a Hollywood success story,” said a statement sent by her publicist.

Her other directing credits included “Renaissance Man,” starring Danny DeVito, Gregory Hines, and Mark Wahlberg in his first feature film role; “The Preacher’s Wife,” which starred Whitney Houston opposite Denzel Washington and “Riding in Cars with Boys,” based on the autobiography of the same name and starring Drew Barrymore.

Her brother, Garry Marshall, creator of the sitcom “Happy Days,” of which “Laverne and Shirley” was a spinoff, died in 2016 at age 81. Penny Marshall landed her breakthrough role in the mid-’70s with the help of her brother. The Marshall family said in a statement: “Our family is heartbroken over the passing of Penny Marshall.”

Director Ron Howard said Marshall was “funny and so smart.” Marshall produced Howard’s 2005 film “Cinderella Man.” She made the transition from sitcom star to A List movie director with ease & had a major impact on both mediums,” Howard tweeted. “All that & always relaxed, funny & totally unpretentious. I was lucky to have known & worked with her.”

American Idol Winner Maddie Poppe spotted at Aulani Resort.

American Idol winner, Maddie Poppe, and runner up, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, were spotted at Disney’s Aulani Resort. The trip was planned as an award after last year’s season finale. What an amazing opportunity for these two! They received an amazing prize and had the opportunity to hang 10 with Mickey and Minnie!

What is even more exciting is these two were already celebrating in Hawaii when Ryan Seacrest made his big announcement. During his “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” live radio show, Seacrest announced the famous show will be heading to Hawaii to film its showcase rounds! This will be the first time ever the show has featured its showcase rounds at the Aulani Resort and Spa in Ko Olina. Excuse me while I go tune up my vocal chords. My kids at school say that I “shouldn’t quit my day job” when I sing at school, but I don’t think I’m that bad. Maybe? Me, me, me, me. What do you think?

Alright, I will leave it up to those who are actually pretty decent. I know I am not good, but I still have fun while singing. Which is why I love watching “American Idol” on ABC. So, imagine my excitement when the news broke that the most widely recognized competition will be back for its second season! The season will premier Sunday, March 3 at 8 p.m. EST.

Seacrest, who has been with the franchise since its inception in 2002, will return as host. I am not sure the show would be the same without him as host, to be honest. This year the show will also feature returning judges, music legends Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richies. In addition, the judges will be joined by radio DJ, comedian, best-selling author, and recent mirror ball champion, Bobby Bones. Bones will be featured as the official in-house mentor for the contestants. Oh, yes, you read that right. Bobby Bones will be the mentor this season!

I think this will be an amazing opportunity for this year’s contestants!! Seriously, if I could actually sing, I would be taking advantage of this! Who knows, maybe you will run into American Idol winner, Maddie Poppe, who could give you a few pointers of her own! “Laki Maika’I”, good luck contestants!

New Building Near Tatooine Traders

There’s a mystery brewing at Hollywood Studios. A new building has popped up next to Tatooine Traders, near what will be the entrance to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. What will it be? Your guess is as good as ours but we are confident that it will have something to do with the brand new Star Wars area scheduled to open next year.

Whatever it is, it doesn’t look to be very large. Bathrooms perhaps? They would certainly be needed in this area once Galaxy’s Edge opens. This once sleepy area of the park will be brimming with people.

A closer look doesn’t help us much, this building clearly has much work to be done. One this is for sure though, we will be watching the progress carefully and bringing you all the latest.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be the most ambitious expansion in Walt Disney World history when it opens in the Fall of 2019. One things is for sure. We can’t wait for this gate to be opened up to explore the new land!

Join Max, Duke, and the rest of the gang (along with some new characters) as they face a pet’s worst nightmare…the VET! Sure to be filled with fun, animated hijinx and laughs, we simply can’t wait! And of course, there’s Kevin Hart reprising his role as the lovable (but vicious) Snowball! Although the promo poster encourages us not to laugh at Max’s misfortune, we’re certain that it will be impossible not to!

Slated to release in 2019, this Illumination film is sure to be a family-friendly film that you and the little ones are not going to want to miss!

#MMC30 – Mickey Mouse Club 30 Year Reunion

Spring 2019 will mark the 30th anniversary of the debut episode of the “All New” Mickey Mouse Club. Former Mouseketeers Chasen Hampton and Dale Godboldo are calling cast members of seasons 1-7 to reunite where it all began with fans for #MMC30.

Hosted by a childhood friend of the Mouseketeers, Joey Fatone of NSYNC, #MMC30 will be taking place at the Hyatt Regency Orlando on May 18-19, 2019.

The proceeds from the #MMC30 reunion will benefit Central Florida’s onePULSE Foundation, Give Kids The World, and the Always In The Club Foundation for youth arts and education.

During this VIP Tour you will be able to experience:

Disney Chef’s and Cast Members will tell their stories about bringing magical food offerings to Disney Parks Guests on a daily basis and how they serve millions of guests every year with their creative and memorable meal experiences.
Experience access to backstage Magic Kingdom Park kitchens and work areas that have never been available to guests before! See for yourself how Disney serves millions of guests with an assortment of sweet and savory food offerings.
Private tastings of a variety of favored Disney Food offerings, be sure to come hungry!
Exclusive access to taste test food offerings that are not yet available in the park. Help the Disney culinary artists to decide what foods should be offered at Magic Kingdom in the future!

Tour members exhibiting symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, sore throat with fever, persistent sneezing, coughing or a runny nose and/or discharge from eyes, nose or mouth that cannot be controlled by medication or jaundice (yellow skin or eyes) are prohibited from participating in the tour.
This is an outdoor walking food experience, so check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.
Proper attire is required: heels, open-ended shoes not permitted; clog-type shoes must have a closed heel. Sensible walking shoes are strongly recommended. Short-sleeved or long-sleeved shirts are recommended.
Dining plan entitlements may not be redeemed for this offering.
Menu selections are designed to appeal to a wide variety of dietary preferences and restrictions, however, modifications and substitutions for individual offerings cannot be accommodated.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start time.
Guests may check-in at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom park.
Theme park admission is required and is not included with the cost of the experience.
While service animals are permitted on the tour, they are not permitted in backstage kitchen and food preparation areas.

Construction Walls Are Down At New Walkway Entrance To Hollywood Studios

No one…absolutely no one likes those ugly construction walls around Walt Disney World. And we’ve seen a lot of them lately. Fortunately for us, there are a few less as of today, as the walls previously hiding a construction area over at Hollywood Studios are no more!

We’re talking about the walls that were recently covering the new bus loop and walkway entrance to Hollywood Studios! Yes…they are gone, ringing in the start of an exciting 2019 for the park. And of course, we’ve got pics of the new look:

The opening of the walkway is helping to pave way for heavy guest traffic that we can expect next year as Star Wars Land prepares to open. Complete with a gondola station and bus loop, it’s a spacious area that should help alleviate the stress as one of the most anticipated park openings of all time comes to pass.

As construction around Walt Disney World continues, as always, we will keep you up-to-date with openings, progress updates, and pictures! So…stay tuned!

The Kingdom of Hearts III Final Battle Trailer is Here

Kingdom Hearts III Final Battle is about to launch and we are so excited! We were on hand in Disney Springs for the Kingdom Hearts Pop Up Experience and the game is so much fun! In sad news, it seems copies of the game not set to debut until January 29th have been being sold online illegally. This caused an early release of the trailer for the game and a post directly from Kingdom Hearts III Director Tetsuya Nomura:

The new “Kingdom Hearts III” trailer went live Monday morning, a day earlier than expected, delivering more than three and a half minutes of cut-scenes, gameplay and faux music video to fans of the Disney-meets-Square mash-up game. The final battle trailer was set for a Tuesday release, but game director Tetsuya Nomura took to Twitter Monday morning to say that the schedule was moved up for its release. The new trailer comes as the developers behind the game are dealing with a slew of leaks videos that hit for the game over the weekend. In an open letter posted through the game’s official Twitter account on Dec. 15, Nomura asked fans not to share the videos or watch them because they could spoil major elements of the game, which is set for a Jan. 29 release.

KINGDOM HEARTS III tells the story of the power of friendship as Sora and his friends embark on a perilous adventure. Set in a vast array of Disney and Pixar worlds, KINGDOM HEARTS follows the journey of Sora, a young boy and unknowing heir to a spectacular power. Sora is joined by Donald Duck and Goofy to stop an evil force known as the Heartless from invading and overtaking the universe.

Through the power of friendship, Sora, Donald and Goofy unite with iconic Disney-Pixar characters old and new to overcome tremendous challenges and persevere against the darkness threatening their worlds.

Drive In to Disney Hollywood Studios Sci-Fi Dine-In for a Chocolate Peppermint Shake. Each month, the restaurant offers a specialty shake. I was thrilled to discover my favorite flavor combination being featured for December.

Winter Holidays often bring about thoughts of candy canes, peppermint and chocolate. What if you could have all of those flavors combined in one sweet display of awesomeness? That is exactly what you will find with this Sci-Fi Dine-In holiday treat. Featuring chocolate ice cream, peppermint, whipped cream and red sprinkles topped with a mini candy cane, this shake is delicious!

The Chocolate Peppermint Shake is available through the month of December and costs $7.00. Be sure to ask for light peppermint flavoring so the peppermint does not overpower the chocolate. What is your favorite shake flavor?
