‘Christopher Robin’ Will Not Be Released in China

If you are in China and excited to see the new “Christopher Robin” that premiered today, I have some disappointing news to pass along. The Winnie the Pooh-themed film will not be released in China.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that there are two theories on why the movie will not be available to the people of China. The first theory states that Winnie the Pooh has become the face of resistance in China. Bloggers have compared the leader of China, Xi Jinping, to the popular Disney character which the government has been trying to crack down on.

Another source states that “Christopher Robin” is not being allowed in China due to the quota the country puts on foreign films being shown in their country.

This is the second Disney movie this year that has been banned from China this year. “A Wrinkle in Time” was also not permitted into the country’s theaters earlier this year. However, “Ant-Man and the Wasp” will make its debut in China later this month.

Christopher Robin Preview Night Turns $1.5 Million At The Box Office

Officially hitting the theaters today, Disney’s live action remake of Christopher Robin had a tremendous preview night yesterday. The film brought in $1.5 million to kick start it’s first box office weekend. Christopher Robin beats out Disney’s “A Wrinkle In Time” that only saw $1.3 million on it’s preview night.

The film follows a grown up Christopher Robin as he tries to lead a normal life. His old pal Winnie the Pooh finds him and the two set off to the Hundred Acre Wood to find the rest of the gang. After a reunion between Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet, Rabbit, Owl, Kanga and Roo, the loveable team decide to help Christopher Robin find his way again.

Christopher Robin joins Disney’s recently released Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella in the new live action remake series. Other live actions are in the works, including Dumbo, Mulan and The Lion King.

Over at Epcot, a brand new art exhibit has debuted at the American Heritage Gallery, “Creating Tradition: Innovation and Change in American Indian Art.” The American Heritage Gallery exhibit displays 89 pieces on display to represent 40 different American Indian tribes from 7 geographic regions across the United States.

Some of the highlights from the American Indian Art collection include an “Ancient Resonance” dress by designer Loren Aragon from Acoma Pueblo, a Chilkat blanket from Alaska dating to the 1890s complements “Raven and the Box of Daylight,” a 2017 glass sculpture by Preston Singletary (Tlingit), and a Pokagon Potawatomi black ash hamper basket made in the early 1900s.

T-shirts to commemorate your time spent at Pandora: The World of Avatar are available for all ages. There are a few unique styles, like the colorful Pandora tee with the cut out back, which really portray to feel of this land wonderfully.

While there are still no official Pandora Minnie Mouse Ears, there are some cute hats available. The Na’vi ear hat has been around for a bit, but it’s still a really cute style cap to get into the feel of the area. The other cap features a print of the beautiful Pandora landscape. Both hats retail for $24.99.

There is a simple but cute Flight of the Banshee Expedition hoodie available for kids. This fun hoodie is $39.99.

Each month Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort adds a new scrumptious cupcake to their already incredible lineup of sweet treats like the Minnie Mouse iridescent cupcakes and the new peanut butter pie. August does NOT disappoint let me tell you! That first bite makes you feel like you are laying in a hammock on the beach watching the waves roll in. July had a “similar” type macaron cupcake but the Tropical Iridescent Macaron Cupcakes are in a league of their own. I thoroughly enjoyed the orange buttercream (I am slightly obsessed with icing). It is a fun twist from the traditional buttercream flavors like vanilla. Such a sweet note to say goodbye to summer on!

Disney's Christopher Robin is an instant classic!

“Doing Nothing often leads to the very best Something!”

Disney’s Christopher Robin in the simplest of terms is an instant classic, bringing you right back to the magic that started it all with the original Winnie the Pooh stories by A.A Milne. The film is nothing short of spectacular, jam-packed with everything you could want from a Pooh picture while still finding a way to add the necessary mature undertones that bring a newfound relevance to today’s fast-paced society.

It all boils down to something so simple, yet profound: Do Nothing.

To explain, the film’s message is all about taking a step back and finding the joy in even the smallest of moments. Time is precious, and we could all use an escape from the easily laid traps that come with overwhelming responsibility, selfishness, and stressful undertakings. The movie’s tale isn’t preaching at you to shirk away from your obligations but instead offers a very sobering reminder that we all have limits. Life is meant to be lived with an element of fun and simplicity. Christopher Robin goes back to basics, and in today’s day in age, it’s important that we do the same.

From start to finish, there are so many adorable moments. You can see from the teaser trailers and featured sneak peeks, this is a feel good movie for all ages. There will be plenty of laughs in store, as this is the first time we see the world of the Hundred-Acre Wood jump out into the real world. Yet, don’t be fooled. This film has a heavy weight on its shoulders, as there is a deeper emotional connection that will make you gasp and possibly shed a few tears. Some of the best moments from the picture come from the deep scenes that play out. It hits you like a ton of bricks because you wouldn’t expect that from a Winnie the Pooh film. It’s fully immersive and inclusive for all involved.

Children will get the same joy and excitement from all the antics and comedy while adults will get their chance to participate in a fully fleshed out narrative. The film matures with the audience, creating a timeless element that transcends into something truly magical. Good story aside, nothing stands out more than the rock-steady performances given by all involved with this project. This star-studded cast really uses every ounce of talent to bring it all together, lead by the legendary Jim Cummings.

Though Cummings has worked on so many projects for Disney over the years, Pooh has always been a staple. The man and the bear are one. Cummings really brought everything he had into this performance, and it is very safe to say this is one of his absolute best. He pulls on every heartstring, makes you grin until your cheeks hurt, and does it with such grace. It’s such a beautiful thing, as he has said himself. Not a single person can walk out of the theater with a negative thing to say because Jim Cummings is in a class all his own.

Ewan McGregor brings his “A-Game” as Christopher Robin, making the character his own with relative ease. Hayley Atwell, though limited in screen time, also does a tremendous job in her supporting role. It would be great if we had more time to contribute to her character, but given the nature of the film, it’s not surprising she doesn’t get more to work with. Let’s also not forget Bronte Carmichael, who also provides a solid and adorable performance. Though The real magic comes from our furry companions, as Brad Garrett, Nick Mohammed, Peter Capaldi and company stay true to what makes Winnie the Pooh such an enduring franchise. It all comes together so splendidly.

Christopher Robin hits the mark, making you eager to go back and experience it all over again. This is a film that would make Walt Disney proud, being a perfect way to end the summer. Make sure to experience it on the silver screen, though please bring a box or two of tissues and possibly a jar of honey for a quick snack.

Vampirina Heads to Disney Parks

Whoa, oh, oh, Vampirina! Your favorite vampire from Transylvania, Vampirina, heads to Disney Parks this fall, just in time for Halloween!

Arriving at Disneyland Resort, Vampirina will be there in plenty of time to celebrate Halloween. Guests will be able to meet their favorite vampire at Disney California Adventure park beginning on September. Plus “Vee” will be making special appearances during the Frightfully Fun Parade at Mickey’s Halloween Party, offered select nights September 19 through October 31. And then later this year, she will also join the high-energy cast of “Disney Junior Dance Party!”

And The Walt Disney World Resort isn’t being left out. As of September 30, Vampirina will begin making visits to Walt Disney World Resort. She will be joining her Disney Junior pals for breakfast at Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine at Hollywood and Vine in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And then later this fall, also at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll have a chance to meet her in the Animation Courtyard, and of course, she’ll be part of the fun at the all-new “Disney Junior Dance Party!”

Since it’s premiere last fall on Disney Channel and Disney Junior, “Vampirina” has become a hit series. It’s in the top 5 series on television among girls ages 2 – 5. With a blend of spooky fun, heartfelt storytelling and music that hit’s Broadway level – we see Vampirina as she faces the ups and downs of being a new kid in town. My favorite aspect is how it celebrates the qualities that make us all unique individuals!

I am happy to announce “The Ocho” will be back again this year on August 8 -with KFC as its sponsor – and feature 24 hours of fun, off-beat programming beginning and ending with a showing of the inspiration behind it all, “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.” All ESPN8: The Ocho programming will be on EPPN2 and made available On Demand on the ESPN App with the exception of the movie “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.” In addition, supporting content will be available across ESPN platforms including ESPN.com, ESPN the Magazine and the ESPN flagship and ESPN Front Row Social handles.

Here is what viewers of “The Ocho” can expect to see:

- SkyZone Ultimate Dodgeball Championship: 32 teams compete for the ultimate title in trampoline dodgeball.
- 2018 Dodgeball World Cup: The best dodgeball teams from around the world will compete for the title at Madison Square Garden Saturday, August 4.
US Open Ultimate Championships: A self-officiating competition with two teams on a field similar to a football field, but the object used is a disc. The objective of the game is to catch a pass in the opponent’s end zone.

Spikeball East Tour Series: Spikeball is essentially volleyball around a small trampoline instead of a net. Two teams of two players pound a small ball off the trampoline and must avoid letting the ball hit the ground.
Cornhole: ACL Pro Invitational: The ACL Pro Invitational brings together the best cornhole players from around the United States to compete for over $70,000 in cash prizes.
Major League Eating: The 2006 Johnsonville Brat-Eating World Championship and the 2006 Krystal World Hamburger Eating Championship highlight the world’s best iron stomachs.
World Championship of Ping Pong: In its eighth year, the World Championship of Ping Pong has played an important role in the resurgence of the sport and elevating it to the international television stage.
Fenway Hurling Classic: A series of hurling matches played at Fenway Park in Boston.
Amazing Games:
- Spain: Running of the Bulls, Human Castle, and Grass Cutting.
- Korea: War of the Wagons, Korean Wrestling and Blitz Chess.
- England: Lawn Mower Racing, Cumberland Wrestling, and Jousting.
Premier League Darts: The tournament, launched in 2005, features 10 of the best players from the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) circuit competing in a round-robin format.
Kabaddi: A contact team sport that originated in India involving two teams and a unique rule. The goal is for each team’s “raider” to tag as many of the opposing team’s players as possible and return to his/her home half all while taking just a single breath.
The Saber Legion 2018: Awakening: The world’s biggest custom dueling organization founded in 2015 highlighting the best in high-level lightsaber combat.
World SUMO Challenge: 24 World Class International SUMO wrestlers compete at Madison Square Garden.
Women’s Flat Track Derby: Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby is a fast-paced contact team sport spotlighting speed, strategy, and athleticism. The flat track style of roller derby rolled onto the scene in 2001and has grown to more than 400 leagues worldwide per the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).
Chess Boxing: Yes, you read that correctly. Chessboxing is a hybrid sport started in 2003 that is designed to test both the body and the mind with three-minute rounds of each sport for a total of 11 rounds.
Moxie Games: Hosted by Penn Jillette (of Penn & Teller) The Moxie Games are the Olympics of viral sports including Dodge Juggle (a hybrid of Dodge Ball & Juggling), Martial Arts Volleyball, Table Tennis using only the head, Pool Trick Shots, Rock Paper Scissors, and more. Held in Las Vegas, Nevada at SkillCon.

ESPN The Magazine: The magazine’s college football preview issue will introduce readers to the most crucial corners of The Ocho universe in a two-page spread highlighting sports such as saber combat, chess boxing, cornhole, kabaddi, spikeball, hurling, and dodgeball. In addition, ESPN the Magazine writer David Fleming traveled to San Francisco to sit down with self-appointed Jedi master Alain Bloch to discuss his quest to win The Saber Legion world title in early August. The piece will be available digitally on Wednesday, Aug. 8
ESPN.com: Throughout the duration of the takeover, ESPN.com will feature a live blog of the day chronicling the must-see highlights, results and social reactions. In addition, an illustrated guide to The Ocho will be available as well as a Q&A with Rawson Marshall Thurber—the director of “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.”
Social: Highlights, feature videos and behind the scenes perspectives of the making of ESPN8: The Ocho will be available via the ESPN flagship and ESPN Front Row social handles. Rumor has it that Cotton McKnight may even show his face.

It’s located near the hub in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. With the perfect blend of salty and sweet, the salted caramel maple bacon donut can satisfy anyone’s taste buds! Totally worth a try, right?

Other donut flavors Disneyland has been known to bring out have been the Chocolate Covered Potato Chip donut (admit it, you’d try it) and the ever popular Dole Whip Donut that caused a mass frenzy not too long ago.
