Born Ready Single Released for Marvel Uprising

“Born Ready”, an exclusive single for “Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors” has been released. Featuring “Descendants 3” star, Dove Cameron, the single is available for download and on streaming services. The companion featurette is also available here on DisneyMusicVEVO.

“Marvel Rising” is the next generation of Marvel heroes for the next generation of Marvel fans. In the animated film, “Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors,” powered teens Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Quake, Patriot, America Chavez, and Inferno join forces as an unlikely, but formidable crew of aspiring heroes. When a threat no one could have expected bears down on the Marvel Universe, this ragtag, untrained band of teens have no choice but to rise together and prove to the world that sometimes the difference between a “hero” and “misfit” is just in the name. “Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors” will premiere simultaneously on Disney Channel and Disney XD on Sunday, September 30.

Dove Cameron is the voice of Ghost-Spider, a free-spirited teen who finds her calling to be a Super Hero after being bitten by a radioactive spider and gaining spider-like powers. Her character appears in “Marvel Rising: Initiation,” a series of 6 animated shorts that premiered on Disney XD earlier this month and are available to watch on Marvel HQ now (click here to watch).

At Satu’li Canteen guests can enjoy creative, flavorful dishes based on the healthful bounty of Pandora, with wholesome grains, fresh vegetables and hearty proteins, where an on-stage grill is a prominent feature in the colorful dining room. One of the new additions to this creative menu is the Shrimp and Noodle Bowl.

The bowl features Chili-Garlic shrimp, lo mein noodles with red pepper, broccoli, and green onions. It is then tossed in a honey-soy dressing and served with cucumber and mango slaw. This seasonal offering is priced at $13.99.

The backstory of this location was that it was once the main mess hall of the Resources Development Administration (RDA) base located in the Valley of Mo’ara. Now the canteen is owned and operated by Alpha Centauri Expeditions (ACE) tour company and has been redesigned into a beautiful museum-like dining room. The interior has been transformed with colorful Na’vi items filling the walls and hanging from the ceiling — hand-woven tapestries, natural Pandoran elements and even cooking tools decorate the restaurant.

Disneyland Resort wants to end all tax incentives with Anaheim

Disneyland Resort wants to end all tax incentives with Anaheim. This is in an effort to end the strained relations between the resort and the city.

This change would put an end to the way that Disney has historically handled business in the birthplace of its first theme park for years and years.

It seems like eliminating tax agreements currently in place, Disney may be able to avoid a November 6th ballot item that, if passed, would make it a requirement that Disneyland Resort pay all workers a “living wage.”

While Disney is insisting that they just want to improve relations with the city and not avoid having to pay a higher wage to employees. According to Disney spokeswoman Lisa Haines, “We want to reset the relationship.”

First of the two tax benefits in question prohibits the city from adopting an entertainment tax on the price of admission as long as the resort promises to invest at least $1 billion by 2024 – which the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge expansion will do. While the second gives the resort a $267-million rebate on the city’s hotel tax if Disney builds a luxury hotel. This was adopted in 2016 and Disney drew up plans for a new hotel to open in 2021. However, it was learned last week that because Disney moved the location of the new property it would not qualify for this rebate.

Disney officials sent this letter to the Mayor and City Council of Anaheim last week, found on the Los Angles Times site:

Disney has also negotiated contracts with its four biggest unions for an hourly wage increase of as much as 20% immediately with another 13% increase in January. Union employees currently making the minimum $11 per hour would see that increase to $13.25 right away and then up to $15 in January 2019. In June of 2020 the minimum rate for union employees would increase again to $15.50.

According to Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait, the City Council will, most likely, need to take formal action to bring these two tax agreements to an end. According to him this move is just a formality as Disney is now stating they no longer want the incentives.

Dominic Monaghan Joins Star Wars: Episode IX Cast

Reunited and it feels so good! Dominic Monaghan joins Star Wars: Episode IX cast, where he will once again work with J.J. Abrams.

Monaghan and Abrams worked together on ABC’s hit series, Lost, which ran from 2004 until 2010. Abrams is directing the latest installment of the Star Wars franchise, which is still untitled at this point. It has yet to be announced which role Monaghan will be playing in the film. Filming on Star Wars: Episode IX began earlier this month.

While we may not know his role, we know Monaghan is no stranger to billion dollar franchises. He is well known for his role of Merry, one of Frodo’s besties in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, directed by Peter Jackson.

Are you surprised that Dominic Monaghan will be entering a galaxy far far away? I’m not. Back in 2014 he didn’t hold back when he expressed his desire to join forces with Abrams in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. “The galaxy far far away has had almost as much influence as the one I live in, so I am delighted to be involved,” Monaghan said.

Star Wars: Episode IX is set to hit US theaters on December 20, 2019.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Production Put On Hold

Amidst all of the drama surrounding James Gunn and his controversial tweets, the production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been put on hold. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Disney and Marvel are regrouping on the project and the crewmembers have been dismissed and are told they can look for new work.

James Gunn was the original producer of the Guardians franchise and was supposed to begin production in the fall. Gunn was fired as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in result of tweets he made back in 2008 and 2009. The Daily Caller reported that James Gunn tweeted about controversial and offensive topics. The filmmaker has since deleted his Twitter account.

Before deleting his account, Gunn tweeted, “Many people who have followed my career know when I started, I viewed myself as a provocateur, making movies and telling jokes that were outrageous and taboo. As I have discussed publicly many times, as I’ve developed as a person, so has my work and my humor.”

Since Gunn was dropped from director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 by Disney and Marvel, fans have started an online petition to have him rehired. So far, there are over 220,000 signatures and that number continues to grow.

“The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him,” said Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn in a statement.

The timeline has been pushed out and Disney has no comment on the matter as of right now. Stay tuned with more updates as we find them out.

New Star Wars Mobile Game

Zynga.net has signed a deal with Walt Disney Co. MartketWatch.com states that “after the market closed Tuesday, the video game maker announced that it had signed a deal with Walt Disney Co. DIS, -0.06% for the rights to develop and publish a new “Star Wars” mobile game under its NaturalMotion studio. The deal is a considerable victory for Zynga, which has struggled to earn back its 2014 investment of $527 million in the U.K.-based NaturalMotion.”

Zynga ZNGA, +0.25% stock rose 8.3% to $4.05 during the regular session Wednesday. The Disney-Zynga deal includes the option to create a second “Star Wars” game, and NaturalMotion will begin operating “Star Wars: Commander,” a mobile game Disney launched in 2014.

Star Wars isn’t the only mobile game Disney has out, Pirates of the Caribbean is also available. JOYCITY, a game developer and publisher based in Korea, and Disney announced today the launch of its mobile game, Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War. The new mobile strategy game is inspired by the popular Disney blockbuster series, “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and features characters, ships, and storylines based on the hit movies. The game is available for free download with in-app purchases on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

In the game, players become pirates in the world of “Pirates of the Caribbean” and will enjoy a full sea fight experience on their mobile devices. As they plan various strategies through building and ship construction and troops training, players can form an alliance to battle against each other or defeat common monsters that dwell in the sea! Players will also encounter familiar characters from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” including Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa and Will Turner.

It has been an Incredible summer, right?! And it was also an incredible summer at the box office for the latest Disney animated film, Incredibles 2. Incredibles 2 had the highest opening box office this summer!

With an opening weekend box office of $182,687,905, the Supers of Incredibles 2 smashed the record for biggest opening of the summer! And rightfully so! What a fun family summer movie it was! I loved taking my oldest son to see it – and now we’re all obsessed with Dash, Violet and Baby Jack-Jack again!

And if you missed seeing Incredibles 2 in the theaters, you can catch it on Disney DVD October 23rd and November 6th on Blu-Ray. I know this is one movie I can’t wait to add to my Disney collection!

In Incredibles 2, Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose super powers are about to be discovered. With the Summer winding down and September mere days away, October is just around the corner and for Disney fans that means one thing- Halloween! We’ve talked a lot over the past few weeks about the various celebrations kicking off at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Today, we thought we’d broaden our net and give you a taste of how Disney celebrates the Halloween Season around the globe!

Disneyland Resort – California – The West Coast Halloween celebrations officially kick off on September 7th and what a celebration it’s shaping up to be! Fan favorites like Mickey’s Halloween Party as well as the haunted transformations to the Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain will be taking place again this year. In addition, Disney Junior’s latest sensation Vampirina will be making her first-ever appearance as she stops in to great guests throughout the season at Disney California Adventure. During this time, both parks also get magical makeovers and you’ll see Disney characters roaming the parks in their Halloween finery.

Disneyland regulars will be pleased to know that the ever-popular attraction overlays will be back for another year. Tim Burton fans won’t want to miss the Nightmare Before Christmas seasonal theming of Haunted Mansion Holiday and Guardians of the Galaxy fans will get to experience Mission: BREAKOUT! with some spooktacular touches thrown in for the Monsters After Dark Halloween-themed storylines.

Fans of the Cars films will definitely want to head over to “Radiator Screams” where you can groove along to the Monster Mash at Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween. Also be sure to make a pit stop at Mater’s Graveyard JamBooree. And have those photos at the ready as Mater, Lightning McQueen and the rest of the gang will be sporting some of their favorite Halloween costumes!

In addition, you’ll find a wide range of Halloween treats! Starting on September 7th you’ll find Halloween-themed goodies throughout the parks and resorts. You’ll find everything from Bat-themed sundaes to mummy macarons.

Guests visiting the parks between September 19 – October 31, 2018 may also want to take advantage of Mickey’s Halloween Party. This special ticketed event offers a family, friendly Halloween celebration filled with trick-or-treating, special fireworks and the Frightfully Fun Parade.

Walt Disney World Resort – Florida – This year Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will continue to be the big draw at Magic Kingdom. This special evening features villainous entertainment, trick or treating, characters, rides, attractions, dazzling stage shows and more! The special ticket parties are already underway (they started in Mid-August this year) and will run until October 31st.

During this special event guests are encouraged to dress up like your favorite Disney characters and head to the parks in your ghoulish get-ups. You’ll also be blown away by the sheer volume of delicious treats at the parks. Some of our favorites include the Worms & Dirt at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe or the Jack Skellington Cake Push Pops available on party nights at Sleepy Hollow.

New for this year at Walt Disney World, three of Disney’s iconic rides are getting Halloween-themed makeovers. Experience Mad Tea Party, Pirates of the Caribbean and Space Mountain in all their Halloween splendor.

The Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus will be back for another year with their Villain Spelltacular stage show. You’ll also get the change to enjoy the specially themed Happy Hallo Wishes even fireworks display as well as Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade where Dinsey characters will Masquerade during their late-night stroll down Main Street U.S.A. A highlight parade each year are the scary caretakers from the Haunted Mansion.

Tokyo Disneyland – Each season Tokyo Disneyland in Japan undergoes a magical transformation into a “ghost version” of the park. The scary makeover can be found across the parks from the Halloween-themed decor to the Spooky Boo Parade to the incredible merchandise that you can only get this time of year. The festivities will kick off her on September 11th and run through until Halloween.

And then there’s the awesome food! At Huey, Dewey & Louie’s Good Time Cafe visitors will find that the bun that tops your sandwich looks just like a jack-o’-lantern. Additionally, churros throughout the parks turn pink on the outside and inside will taste like your favorite flavor.

Disneyland Paris – For one night only, Disneyland Paris will throw their annual Halloween bash. Taking place on October 31 from 8:30 pm – 2:00 am, guests will have a chance to meet some of Disney’s Villains, view the Disney Villain’s Halloween Celebrations parade and get into the spirit of the season with a Halloween costume.

Hong Kong Disneyland – This year the Hong Kong Halloween fun kicks of on September 13th and runs through until October 31st. During this time visitors will have the chance to mingle with some of our favorite characters including Jack Skellington in Halloween Town. Can you muster up the courage to visit Dr. Finkelstein’s Lab and meet with Sally who desperately needs your help?

Then there’s the Villains Night Out! Chapter 3 coming to Hong Kong Disneyland. During this event, Maleficent leads a posse of baddies including the Evil Queen, Ursula, Captain Hook, Cruella De Vil and more through the park!

Disney World Reaches Deal With Unions To Raise Wages to $15 an hour

According to various news sources including WESH, the 6 unions representing thousands of workers at Walt Disney World has reached a contract agreement that would raise the starting pay of Disney Cast Members to $15 an hour. The proposed increase will go into effect starting in 2021.

Under the proposal wages will sit at $11 for the remainder of the year but will increase incrementally going up to $12 next March, $13 next September and then up to $14 by October 2019. The agreement is slated to run through until the Fall of 2022. The members of the unions will officially vote on the agreement September 5-6, 2018.

This is good news for trade unions coming at the end of a long negotiating process. This is a story that we’ll be watching closely here at Chip and Co. so keep following along.
