Disney Springs Resort Area Hotel Benefits Extended Through 2019

Disney Springs Resort Area Hotel Benefits Extended Through 2019s Benefits Extended

Disney Springs Resort Area Hotel Benefits Extended Through 2019s Benefits Extended

Extra Magic Hours and 60-Day Fastpass+ benefits for Disney Springs Resort Area Hotels have been extended through 2019! This is huge since it was originally scheduled to end on December 31, 2018. So what does this mean for you?  All good things!

Disney Springs Resort Area Hotel Benefits Extended Through 2019

The Disney Springs Resort Area Hotels are hotels all located on Walt Disney World Resort property but are not owned and operated by Disney. The hotels are the B Resort & Spa, Best Western Lake Buena Vista, DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Orlando – Disney Springs Area, Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace, Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, Holiday Inn Orlando – Disney Springs Area, and Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista.

DS

They are all located are within easy walking distance to Disney Springs, which make them super convenient.  And, these specific benefits only apply to these hotels, which makes them a much more attractive option than other non-Disney hotels.

Disney Springs Resort Area Hotel Benefits Extended Through 2019

Unlike other off-site Guests who have to wait until 30 days before check-in to make any Fasptass+ selections, if you are staying at one of these hotels you can make yours at 60 days. That is a big deal because Fastpassses for popular rides like Flight of Passage and Slinky Dog Dash go fast! In order to utilize this benefit, hotel guests will need to link their reservation to their MyDisneyExperience account, as well as have valid theme park tickets linked to their account.

Disney Springs Resort Area Hotel Benefits Extended Through 2019

Once on vacation, the benefits continue. Guests of these hotels will be able to get extra park time by taking advantage of Extra Magic Hours. They will also be able to get to and from the parks via the shuttle transportation, which runs about every 30 minutes to all of the theme and water parks.  And, being so close to Disney Springs the “Disney Springs Passport” savings book will come in handy!

These are very popular benefits, so hopefully they will continue for many years to come.

What would a celebration be without dancing? The Get Your Ears On theme song “It’s A Good Time” already has us grooving in our seats and excited for this year’s celebration of our favorite Disney celebrities, Mickey and Minnie Mouse. With a “dance party all day or night” this event is in honor of 90-years with the iconic duo.

The show lasts 10 minutes and has DJ Mickey virtually spinning eight songs to get you moving to the beat with this family-friendly party. The playlist includes favorites for every generation of park-goers including, “Grim Grinning Ghosts”, “Let it Go”, “Friend Like Me”, “Ev’rybody Wants To Be A Cat”, “I Wanna Be Like You”, “Un Poco Loco”  as well and the title track “It’s A Good Time” opening and closing the show. The lasers, lighting, and projections can be seen on Main Street, U.S.A., the Rivers of America water screens, and on the facade of “it’s a small world”.

Disney California Adventure’s Grizzly River Run Closes for Refurbishments

Disney California Adventure's Grizzly River Run Closes for Refurbishments

One of Disney California Adventure’s most popular rides, Grizzly River Run is undergoing a lengthy refurbishment. Subsequently, the attraction will be closed until Spring of this year. Details of the renovation have not been announced, but there’s already one major change apparent.

Disney California Adventure’s Grizzly River Run Closes for RefurbishmentsDisney California Adventure’s Grizzly River Run Closes for RefurbishmentsDisney California Adventure’s Grizzly River Run Closes for Refurbishments

The most notable development is the removal of the relatively new body warmers/dryers. As we reported last year, full body dryers were installed outside of the ride in late 2018. These dryers, known as the “Wilderness Warming Huts”, were available to guests for a $5.00 fee. The huts were a welcome addition to the area as they allowed soaked riders to warm up and dry off for 5 minutes per session. Allowing up to 5 guests at a time, they proved to be popular with families. The huts were removed for the renovations and will most likely return when they are completed. Since it’s almost impossible to stay dry on the ride, it will be a welcome return!

Disney California Adventure’s Grizzly River Run Closes for Refurbishments

Grizzly River Run has a distinction for being the wettest ride at the Disneyland Resort. The 8-person raft ride is a pleasant (and soggy) river ride through an old mining company. Your journey commences with an exhilarating plunge down and through raging rapids. The entire ride area is currently closed off with construction walls. The iconic bear statue is still available though for guest photos during the refurbishment. An exact completion date has not been released, but we will be sure to share those details when they are announced.

Construction Update: Guardians Of The Galaxy Coaster Building Gets Outer Walls

Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster

Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster

We’ve got new images of the progress on the Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster, coming to EPCOT.  The ride building is now completely enclosed in sky-blue walls.  It seems that Disney is trying to shroud the enormous building by having it blend in with the greenery below and the cloudy sky.  Leaving us to wonder what it will look like against a bight blue summer sky, or if there’s more to be added to the outside to help it blend in.

Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster

The front of the building is still covered by the Instagram-able #galaxywall.  However, the front of the structure that was once open steel beams has now been covered in black scrim to shield construction of the pre-show area of the ride.  White sheeting is also up along the front right side of the building concealing an exterior stairwell.

Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster

The Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster was officially announced at the 2017 D23 Expo.  Disney confirmed at the 2018 Expo that the ride is slated to open in 2021, as the worlds longest enclosed roller coaster.  Construction has been moving along steadily since spring of 2018 on the site of the former “Ellen’s Universe of Energy“, which shuttered in August of 2017.

Construction Update: Guardians Of The Galaxy Coaster Building Gets Outer Walls

Back in November, we were given a glimpse at the ride vehicles, based on the design of the ship “The Milano” in the Guardians films.  Billed as a “Storytelling Coaster“, each individual vehicle will move independently on the ride track, swiveling to direct your attention to specific areas of the ride.

I can’t wait for more details on this ride.  We’ll be keeping you posted with new updates along the way!

New Disney Snacks Home Collection Now At The Disney Parks

Disney Snacks Home Collection

New Disney Snacks Home Collection Now At The Disney Parks

I think it’s safe to say that Disney has been overflowing with snack inspired merchandise this month! Personally I’m thrilled that Disney has recognized the popularity of their delicious snacks, and how much fans love to incorporate them into their personal style. Now even our homes can get the snack treatment with the new Disney Snacks Home Collection that showed up at the parks!

From plates, to decorations there’s a deliciously cute Disney snack inspired item to bring a little magic to any Disney loving home.

Sure there are lots of great Disney inspired dishes out there, but who can resist plates with Mickey inspired foods on them? These come as a set of four with different food designs!

Of course we can’t forget serving dishes and bowls with our plates! These dish items have a repeating print of all our favorite Disney treats.

New Disney Snacks Home Collection Now At The Disney Parks

I’m loving these Mickey and Minnie ice cream cups! Not only will they make some very cute sundaes, but they also make great every day drink cups for around the house too.

New Disney Snacks Home Collection Now At The Disney Parks

I might have squealed when I saw the Mickey shaped popsicle molds. Silicone molds are great for more than just popsicles though, you could even make chocolates or lollipops shaped like the incredible Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar!

New Disney Snacks Home Collection Now At The Disney Parks

Of course if we’re in our Disney snack inspired kitchen, we’re going to need an apron to keep us covered! I’ve always loved Disney aprons, and I love that this one isn’t too frilly. The Mickey ice cream pocket might be the cutest thing ever too.

If you’re a wine drinker, these Mickey and Minnie ice cream wine stoppers are a must have!

New Disney Snacks Home Collection Now At The Disney Parks

Don’t forget to set your glass on a sweet snack coaster! All of the coasters are mouse shaped for easy stacking, but still inspired by a different snack. There is a Mickey Waffle, A Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich, a Minnie Donut, and a Classic Mickey Crispy Treat!

The snacking fun doesn’t stop at the kitchen though, you can also decorate your home with Disney Snack inspired lights, or welcome guests to your home with a Dole Whip door mat! I think the Dole Whip welcome mat is the perfect Disney door mat for spring and summer!

New Disney Snacks Home Collection Now At The Disney Parks

The Mickey Pizza throw pillow is definitely one of the sillier items, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want one for my living room. These are a good size that can be used a snuggly plush, or a comfy throw pillow.

In addition to these great Disney Snacks Home Collection items you can now find magnets, keychains and other novelties inspired by your favorite Disney treats at the Disney Parks. What do you think of this deliciously cute new trend?

Live-Action Hunchback of Notre Dame in the Works

Live-Action Hunchback of Notre Dame in the Works

Live-Action Hunchback of Notre Dame in the Works

Disney is in the very early stages of a live-action Hunchback of Notre Dame which is based on Disney’s animated film from 1996 and Victor Hugo’s novel “Notre-Dame de Paris” from 1831. Given Disney’s recent success with live-action films, this one is sure to be just as amazing.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame has been recreated multiple times, most notably the popular 1996 animated Disney version, and the 1939 Charles Laughton version. The Hunchback if you recall is the story of the bell ringer from the Notre Dame Cathedral who forms a special friendship with Esmeralda the gypsy. Disney’s animated version grossed $325 million worldwide.

Currently, David Henry Hwang is set to write the script.  His prior productions include “M Butterfly”, which he won a Tony award for, “Chinglish” “Yellow Face” and “Aida” just to name a few. Producing the live-action play will be Josh Gad and Mandeville Films. Gad, as you know, was the voice of the fan favorite, Olaf in Disney’s Frozen. Gad also played LeFou in Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast. Stephen Schwartz and Alan Menken will score the music. Musically, Schwartz and Menken have achieved major accomplishments. Schwartz worked on “Wicked”, “Godspell”, and “Pippin”. Menken has eight Academy Awards to his name. His list includes “Beauty and the Beast”, “Aladdin”, and he scored the original Hunch Back of Notre Dame.

Disney has been successful over the past few years turning popular animated movies into live action productions. Currently, Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book, and Alice in Wonderland have already been produced. Three more live action movies are set to debut in 2019. Dumbo will be released March 29th, 2019. Aladdin, starring Will Smith will be released May 24th, 2019, and The Lion King which packs a large notable cast will be released July 19th, 2019.

What are your thoughts on Disney’s live-action remakes? Are you a fan of them or do you prefer the animated version? What would you like to see as the next live-action remake? Speaking personally, I am extremely excited for a live action Hunchback of Notre Dame.
