Family Fun Day Visit Epcot International Food & Wine Festival

Family Fun Day Visit Epcot International Food & Wine Festival

Have you ever thought of enjoying a Family Fun Day at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival?  Start with amazing kid-approved food with non-alcoholic beverages, Remy’s Hide and Squeak Game around the World Showcase, Festival Play Area and a Chocolate Display.  Be sure to enjoy a visit to the glowing Light Lab before closing out your family adventure day with a child-friendly Eat To The Beat Concert and the Disney Du Jour Dance Party.

First, we are loving the addition of the Kid-Approved Menu items icon.  Look for the adorable Smiley Strawberry next to items listed on the menu boards.  For example, the Light Lab Flavor Experiments Menu and the Creme Brulee on the France Menu Board as shown above.  Our Little One’s favorite food of the day was the original Classic Poutine.

Hence, the adults in your party may be searching for something a bit more adventurous.  How about some added flavor with the Beef Brisket Poutine, Warm Chocolate Pudding, or Croissant Aux Escargots with La Passion Martini Slush?  Personally, our favorite bites of Family Fun Day were the Grilled Lamb Chop, the Spice-Crusted Verlasso Salmon and the Lump Crab Cake.  Additionally, best sips were the non-alcoholic Frozen Apple Pie and the Tropical Mimosa.

Second,  be sure to take on the challenge of Remy’s Ratoutille Hide and Squeak game around the World Showcase.  To begin, help Remy find all the necessary ingredients to complete his most famous dish.  You will need to stop at each country to determine what sticker to select for that country. Upon completion, take your map to a redemption location to pick up your prize.  I mean, what child doesn’t love the opportunity to pick their own prize?

Third, you may wish to take your young ones over to the Family Play Zone.  You will find this fun and interactive play area behind Mouse Gear. Also, there are a few Adirondack chairs available for seating as your youngsters engage in play and discovery.

Fourth, the Chocolate Display at the Festival Welcome Center in the “From Bean To The Bar” area is sure to be a hit with the entire family.  This year’s hand-crafted chocolate displays feature Toy Story Land, The Headless Horseman and Coco to name a few.

Next, no Epcot International Food & Wine Festival Family Fun Day experience is complete without the Light Lab.  This glowing fluorescent room is a great place to take fun photos.  Also, be sure to observe the lab technicians as they create some amazing beverage concoctions.  The Wall Boards contain interesting facts about our senses, thus making this a cool learning experience as well.

Lastly, be sure to close out your Family Fun Day with the Eat To The Beat Concert Series and the Disney Du Jour Dance Party.  Child-friendly music and Disney Dancing are sure to wrap up your day in a big way.

We, at Chip and Company, are a very family-oriented group.  Being that this was a family outing, we decided to take Flat Chip on his very first adventure.   He enjoyed his first ride on the monorail, the perfectly sized Flat-Chip-Friendly Food & Wine keepsake plate and his favorite Cheddar Cheese and Bacon Soup from the Canada Outdoor Kitchen.  Flat Chip took time to hydrate with the Phosphorescent Phlight from the Light Lab.  He then decided to take a nap on a bench!  A Fan noticed him and woke him up to have her photo taken with him.  Certainly, Flat Chip had a fabulous First Adventure Day.

In conclusion, we highly recommend planning a Family Fun Day at Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival.  From food, beverages and games, to learning opportunities, concerts and dance parties the experience is sure to build lifetime memories.

We wish to send a special thank you to the folks at Disney for inviting us to attend Family Media Day.  The opportunity to experience the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival together, as a family, is greatly appreciated.

Production Begins on “Sydney to the Max”

"Sydney to the Max"

Production Begins on "Sydney to the Max"

Production is officially underway on the Disney Channel’s newest series – “Sydney to the Max.” “Sydney to the Max” is a daughter/father comedy series created by Emmy Award-nominated writer, showrunner and executive producer Mark Reisman (“Frasier,” “The Exes,” “Wings”).

A heartwarming and sentimental comedy, “Sydney to the Max” centers around the experiences of a sociable, goodhearted middle schooler named Sydney Reynolds and her protective, doting – and sometimes clueless! – single dad Max as they navigate the challenges of growing up. Set during two timeframes, decades apart, flashback scenes to young Max and his best friend Leo in the 1990s parallel many of the funny predicaments Sydney and her BFF Olive get themselves into. VHS camcorders, bleached skater hair and other ’90s-defining “relics” aside, Sydney and Max come to realize, aided by Sydney’s kicky grandmother Judy, who’s well-versed in Max’s childhood antics, that they have more in common than either realizes.

Jonas Agin, vice president, Original Series, Disney Channels, said, “With ‘Sydney to the Max,’ Mark Reisman has given us a series full of heart, humor, and honesty. On one level, it explores the beautifully complex relationship between a girl and her father and a boy and his mother. On another level, by existing in two distinct eras, it highlights how the smallest experiences of childhood have the biggest impact on who we become – and how every generation, despite its unique challenges, is filled with the universal truth that kids will always face the same joys, fears and excitement as their parents did. We couldn’t be prouder to have this as our next series on Disney Channel.”

Thirteen-year-old actress Ruth Righi (“School of Rock”) leads the cast as title character Sydney. Adult Max is played by Ian Reed Kesler (“Suits,” “Kickin’ It”), while young Max is played by newcomer Jackson Dollinger (“Puppy Dog Pals”). Caroline Rhea (“Sabrina, the Teenage Witch,” “Phineas and Ferb”) is Ruth’s grandma Judy, seen in both decades. Ruth’s best friend Olive is played by Ava Kolker (“Girl Meets World”), while young Max’s best friend Leo is played by Christian J. Simon (“The Amazing World of Gumball”).

“Sydney to the Max” is scheduled to premiere in 2019.

Baby Giraffe Aella

Baby Giraffe Aella (pronounced eye-la) the two-month-old Masai giraffe is one of the newest additions to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. Born on June 29 at more than five-feet-tall she has been spending precious moments bonding and nursing with her mom Lily in a backstage habitat. About a week and a half ago she joined her mom Lily on the Kilimanjaro Safaris savanna.

Aella’s parents, Lily and George, were chosen to breed through the Species Survival Plan (SSP), which is overseen by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and ensures responsible breeding of threatened and endangered species.

Kelly Waldo, a Wild Africa Trek excursion guide was there the first-day Baby Giraffe Aella started exploring the savanna, and it was a moment she will never forget. Check out the video of the encounter below:

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Reveal Their Favorite Disney Films

The newly wedded Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, had the pleasure of attending the annual WellChild Awards this past week. While attending, they sat down with 10 year old Chloe Henderson, a WellChild Award recipient who was born 10 weeks prematurely and due to Cerebral Palsy, is unable to walk. She had one very important question for the couple. “What’s your favorite Disney film?”

Meghan Markle stated that she has “always loved The Little Mermaid” while Prince Harry’s favorite Disney film is The Lion King. Prince William noted last year that The Lion King is also Prince George’s favorite film, Prince Harry’s nephew. Other favorites for Prince Harry include Moana and Zootopia.

The royal couple visited with many children and their families at the WellChild Awards. Kensington Palace released numerous photos and stories via Twitter during the event.
