Performing Arts Students Get Surprised By Aladdin On Broadway Stars

Performing Arts students from Aventura City of Excellence School in Aventura, Florida thought they were attending a routine workshop. Little did they know they were about to be surprised by two of Disney on Broadway’s biggest stars!

Adam Jacobs and his sister Arielle surprised the group on stage as the workshop was getting underway. Adam is best known for originating the title role of Aladdin, in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway. His sister Arielle currently stars as Princess Jasmine now in New York too! Together, they performed the popular duet “A Whole New World” from the show. After the performance, Adam and Arielle took questions from the students and gave advice to the aspiring young actors.

Disney Broadway Magic is just the first in a number of workshops being put on by Disney Performing Arts this year. The workshops give kids from around the country the opportunity to hone their skill at Walt Disney World Resort. Kids can take acting classes, learn about costuming, take dance workshops in ballet, hip hop, jazz, and tap, along with Broadway and vocal performance classes. There are even classes in puppetry, sound studio recording, and instrumental performance.

EPCOT International Festival of the Arts

Don’t forget that you can see Adam & Arielle, along with other Disney on Broadway performers at the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. The festival takes place now through February 25th, and Disney on Broadway Concert Series performances take place daily at the America Gardens Theatre.

Avengers: Endgame Clocking-In at a 3-Hour Run Time

Avengers: Endgame Clocking-In at a 3-Hour Run Time. With only 11-weeks until the premiere date for Avengers: Endgame, The Russo Brothers have yet to present a theatrical cut of the film to Disney for approval before release.

Say what? It’s true! The film has not hit the approval stage as of yet and the set theatrical release date is on April 26, 2019. Back in November, Joe Russo, one of the directors of the film, stated that Avengers: Endgame would have a run time of at least 3-hours. So far that still seems to be the case and there has not been any public pressure by Disney to shorten the screen time.

“I think the studio is down with what the best story is,” Joe Russo said. “Right now, we think the movie is playing well and we’ve had great responses from our test audiences and we’re feeling very good about where it is. We’re still doing work to it. We’re not done with it. Again, this is a culmination film of 22 movies, it’s a lot of storytelling to work into it. Emotion is an intrinsic part of that to us. When you have to tell a really complicated story and you want strong emotional moments with the characters, it just requires a certain amount of real estate. This one, in particular, feels like three hours worth of real estate.”

When asked a similar question Joe’s Brother, Anthony Russo, responded in a likewise manner. “We have screened the movie four times for audiences now,” Anthony said. “For the first three screenings, not a single person got up to go to the bathroom.”

Wow! I don’t think you could ask for a better response from your test audience! If the 3-hour cut of Avengers: Endgame has been eliciting this sort of reaction in screenings then it is safe to bet that the films theatrical release will harbor similar results.

Should Marvel Studios and Disney decide to release the film as is, with a 3-hour run time, it will be the longest Marvel Studios film in theaters to date in the 11 year-old franchise spanning 22 films.

Avengers:Endgame will bring together elements from all 22 Films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This has definitely contributed to the extended length of the film.

For most Marvel Fans, the extended length has been a cause for excitement. The longer than average film is mainly due to Marvel Studios wanting to do justice to all the characters and their individual stories, while still delivering the best overall story for the entire film to the audience in a respectful manner. Despite these parameters some super fans have claimed that no matter what the run time of the film would be , it would not hinder them from seeing the film in theaters, whether it be 3-hours or longer. Personally, the film could be 24-hours long and I would still go see it in theaters.

Despite whatever Marvel Studios decides is an appropriate length time for Avengers: Endgame, we are on the edge of our seats waiting to deliver any more news about the most anticipated film of 2019.

The Voyageurs’ Lounge At Disney’s Riviera Resort Inspired By Travels Of Walt Disney

Disney’s Riviera Resort is expected to open Fall 2019. This will be the 15^th Disney Vacation Club property once it opens its doors. Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera will be found here. This will be Walt Disney World Resort’s newest rooftop dining offering. Le Petit Café will also be located here. This is a café that transforms into a wine bar. Also found at the newest DVC Resort will be Bar Riva and Primo Piatto. Bar Riva is a poolside bar offering delectable bites and beverages. Primo Piatto is a quick-service trattoria location.

We have learned another tasty little tidbit about an amenity will be offered here! The Voyageurs’ Lounge will be located next to Le Petit Café. Personally, I think that this is the perfect location. The ambiance is inspired by the collection of book titles that Walt himself gathered, including Walt’s 1935 European “Grand Tour”. This inspiration will be reflected in the décor that will be used. The lounge will be a great option to experience an artful little gathering place, perfect for relaxing and sharing favorite vacation memories with family and friends.

Walt especially loved traveling through Europe. These travels will be reflected throughout this newest Disney Vacation Club Resort. I cannot wait until this new property opens! What do you think about the Voyageurs’ Lounge? Let us know in the comments.

Marvel Movies Will No Longer be Available on Netflix

The dreaded day has come: Disney is going to stop adding Marvel movies to Netflix.
The disappointing move will begin with the upcoming film, Captain Marvel. This newest movie and those to follow will be reserved for streaming on Disney’s own platform, Disney+.

Disney CEO, Bob Iger, confirmed earlier this week that Marvel films will be exclusively streamed on Disney+, beginning with Captain Marvel, which premieres on March 8th, 2019.

Iger states, “What we’re basically trying to do here is invest in our future,” noting that the move is “designed so that long-term this business will become an important part of Disney’s bottom line . . . This is a bet on the future of this business.”

It is yet to be released if Disney and ABC-owned shows like “Grey’s Anatomy” will also be removed from Netflix and put on Disney+. The new Disney streaming service is set to launch later this year so keep your fingers crossed!

In the meantime, check out Marvel movies on Netflix like “Ant-Man and the Wasp” and “Avengers: Infinity War” while they are still available!

One of my favorite airports is Orlando International Airport (MCO). There is so much to see and do at this airport that you could really make visiting it a vacation within your vacation!

Of course, with an airport as large as Orlando International Airport is, you will find the number of passengers passing through it to be rather large. In 2018, over 47 million passengers utilized the airport. This broke the record that was set in 2017 when 44.6 million passengers passed through. The airport actually saw a 7% increase from 2017 with 47.7 million passengers.

The majority of travelers traversing through Orlando International Airport were domestic travelers. They made up 41 million passengers. This was actually a 6% increase from 2017. The remaining 6.6 million passengers were international travelers. International travel made up an increase of 11% from 2017.

In all, Orlando International Airport offers 150 domestic and international destinations. The influx of passengers is reflected with all of the work that has been being performed at the airport. By allowing so many different nonstop destination options, Orlando is the perfect vacation spot. Whether you are visiting theme parks such as Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort or embarking on a cruise or a beach vacation, the possibilities are endless.

With the highly anticipated opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge later this year, I personally think that the 2018 record will be broken once again come 2019. What do you think?

Mardi Gras at Universal Orlando Starts This Weekend

Mardi Gras kicks off this weekend at Universal Studios theme park at Universal Orlando this Saturday, February 9, 2019! This year’s party is starting off with a bang, and featuring a live concert from BUSH. Other Mardi Gras offerings include a nightly parade and festive party food.

This parade is animal themed and features all of the colorful floats, masks and parade performers you would expect to see at the New Orleans event. Be ready to catch as strands of the iconic beads are thrown into the audience. The parade can be seen every night of Mardi Gras. The start time varies from night to night so be sure to check the time the day you are visiting. A special parade viewing area for pint-size party goers can be found outside of the Brown Derby Hat Shop. The space dubbed the Little Jesters Viewing Area offers unobstructed viewing for kiddos and opens an hour before the parade begins.

Every day at 4:00 P.M. the French Quarter Courtyard will open. During Mardi Gras, the area usually known as New York gets a Cajun makeover and features food, music, fun, and specialty libations. The portions this year are tasting size so don’t be afraid to try several different offerings. While you enjoy your tasty selections the atmosphere comes alive with live music straight out of Louisiana including jazz, blues, and zydeco.

Finally, on select nights enjoy concerts from headlining bands spanning several decades of music. With artists from a variety of genres of music, there is a concert for everyone.

There are several fantastic tickets offers for both Florida Residents and non-residents to experience Universal Orlando. The Mardi Gras events, including the concerts, are included with your theme park admission. This event runs nightly February 9 – April 4, 2019. Don’t miss out on this year’s Mardi Gras party!

Mickey and the Magical Map Makes Magic at Disneyland

Have you seen Mickey and the Magical Map yet? While the show isn’t new, it’s always worth checking out on your Disneyland trip!

This live musical show takes your imagination to extremes. We begin with Sorceror Yen Sid (get it? Disney spelled backward) showing his apprentice, Mickey Mouse, a map of the world. Mickey Mouse tries to finish the map and magic ensues! The map’s compass points you to various adventures of song and dance.

During this 22 minute live show, you’ll see some of your favorite Disney characters: King Louie (The Jungle Book), Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder.

From the Adventure Islands with King Louie to Dream Village with Pocahontas, this show is a must for Disney fans. Sit back, relax and enjoy your favorite Disney songs from movies like Lilo and Stitch, The Princess and the Frog and The Little Mermaid.

Could a Disney Ticket Increase Be Coming Soon

Walt Disney World and Disneyland have brought so many enhancements in the last few years throughout the parks. Walt Disney World now has Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios bringing to life Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and pals as they make you feel like you are the size of a toy in the new friendly land. Soon, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open as well in Walt Disney World and Disneyland!

Anniversary’s, new celebrations, new character meet and greets, better nighttime shows, resort upgrades, castle renovations, new restaurants, all come at a cost. Does this mean there is a ticket price increase on the horizon? Typically, yes! For the past several years we have seen a ticket increase in February.

There is no guarantee the increase will happen, but it is something we should prepare for. Below are the dates when ticket prices have increased over the past several years:

2018 – February 11, 2018
2017 – February 12, 2017
2016 – February 28, 2016
2015 – February 22, 2015
2014 – February 23, 2014

If you have a trip planned in 2019 you may want to consider purchasing tickets before next week, just in case!

New Tiki Mugs and Drinks Arrive At Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar

Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar in Disneyland is an immersive establishment inspired by the Jungle Cruise that take you on an adventure to a south seas tropical oasis. The enchanted bar has recently released FOUR New Tiki Mugs and two new Drinks, and we’re sure fans can’t wait to check them out!

Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar in Disneyland, and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto in Walt Disney World have become a cult fave, with new Tiki mugs sometimes drawing lines around the building! These enchanting new drinks and tiki mugs are currently at Disneyland, but I’m sure we’ll see some new goodies at Walt Disney World soon.

The Tangaroa Cooler is an all new drink, that comes with a brand new blue and white Tiki Mug. This mug almost plays tricks on the eye depending on how you look at it, you may see a face, or someone on a surfboard. Tangaroa Cooler promises to cool your thirst before, during, and most certainly after your journey. This is a mix of gin, almond syrup, bitters, and citrus. The cost for the drink and souvenir mug is $38.

The second new drink is a sharable one! The concept is similar to the Uh-Oa, where it is suggested for at least two adventurers. This offers another new mug, which is like a bowl with a giant Kraken lurking beneath the oceanic depths of your drink. Dark rums are swirled with gin, brandy, and tropical fruit juices for an epic encounter! $58 will get you this drink for 2, plus the souvenir bowl to take home.

Two new classic drinks have also gotten fourth edition makeovers!

The ever popular Shrunken Zombie Head gets a pale new look, with purple hues. The drink is still the same for this one, but every so often Trader Sam’s updates the look of the mug! I love that they do this so that fans don’t get bored of the same ol’ thing. The Shrunken Zombie Head is one of the most popular drinks, so it’s only fitting that he gets a new look.

Another popular drink is the Krakatoa Punch! This sweet and fruity beverage comes in a mug that feature’s a tiki being overcome by lava! This mug has similar colors to the original first edition mug, but with the redesign of the second and third editions.

And it’s topped off with a heart-shaped marshmallow and sugar sprinkles. This Valentine donut is available at the donut cart in Disneyland. The donuts at the cart change frequently, so make sure to get one before they’re gone!
