Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Closes for Refurbishment

Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom next week will encounter another refurbishment in the Magic Kingdom. Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station will be closed from February 11th through March 24th. The water playground can be found in the Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom.

This area has been long overdue for a refresh as many of the water features have been inoperable for some time. The figures and train cars are also showing considerable wear. I look forward to seeing this area resorted to its former glory, and ready to cool down guests in time for the warmer months.

The Tomorrowland Speedway and Walt Disney Railroad also remain closed in the Magic Kingdom. These areas are being re-worked to accommodate the new Tron Rollercoaster expected to open in 2021. Work on the Speedway will continue through May 2019, while the Railroad will remain closed for the duration of the coaster construction.

Peter Pan’s Flight also recently completed it’s short refurbishment, and is now open for guest to enjoy. Stay tuned for more announcements of refurbishment in the future, as well as when these attractions will open back up!

Early Morning Magic at Magic Kingdom is available on select Sundays and Tuesdays from 7:45 AM to 10:00 AM. Admission runs $79/adult and $69/child (plus tax). However, the event offers limited admission, so I recommend calling me immediately to get your spot reserved before they fill up!

There is also an Early Morning Magic at Disney’s Hollywood Studios inside Toy Story Land! This ensure the same as at Magic Kingdom’s. You get the least crowds and enjoy all three Toy Story Land attractions, including Slinky Dog Dash, over and over again!

Disney’s ‘Hercules’ Musical Coming to New York City

Disney’s ‘Hercules’ Musical Coming to New York City. Hercules is leaving The Big Olive and headed to The Big Apple. A musical version of the popular 90’s Disney Film is coming to New York City in 2019.

Seems like Hercules and I had a similar reaction! Having grown up in the Golden Age of Disney Films this has my little 90’s kid heart all a flutter. Now before you get too excited, let me clarify.

Hercules is NOT coming to Broadway (yet), so there is no need to rush to get your tickets at the moment. In even better news, The Public Theater announced that they had partnered with Disney Theatrical Productions and together, with a new book by Kristoffer Diaz and direction from Thomas Schumacher, they have created a stage adaption of the beloved film. We will even get to hear more music composed by Disney Legend Alan Menken and David Zippel.

“We are thrilled to welcome Lear deBessonet back at the helm of our Public Works initiative for the first time since 2015,” said Oskar Eustis, artistic director for The Public Theater. “Alan Menken is one of the great musical geniuses of our time; it is an honor to welcome him, David Zippel, and Kristoffer Diaz to the Delacorte. Our Public Works community promises to connect this brilliantly conceived story back to the earth from which it sprang: the people. What a grand and unlikely experience this will be!”

“Many generations of our Public Works families have embraced Disney musicals as a shared American canon,” said deBessonet. “Hercules’ roots in Greek mythology, infused with soulful gospel music, make it a natural extension of Public Works’ radical exploration of humanity through Shakespeare and the classics. We’re excited to see how this Public Works production will uncover the deeper meaning of what it means to be a hero and how true strength is derived, not from the greatness of one person, but the transformative power of community.”

The show will run from August 31st through September 8th in 2019 as part of the Free Shakespeare in the Park series. “But what about tickets? I NEED to see the Hercules Musical!” That’s the best part! The show is FREE! Ticket’s will be distributed for free on performance days to those who wish to attend.

If that wasn’t enough to give two thumbs WAY up, The Public Theater is welcoming a wonderful crew for the Hercules Musical production. We will get to see the creative works of:

Mondo Announces Magical New Disney Collectibles And More

The Art Corner is now open at Disney Springs at the Walt Disney World Resort! A selection of artists are on site daily, creating custom artwork for visitors. Caricature Connection, the same team who has been drawing caricatures on Disney Property the last two decades, also joins The Art Corner.

Kids Under 14 Fly Free With Frontier Airlines

Honey! Pack the bags! Frontier Airlines has announced kids under 14 years old, fly free with an adult. They are doing this as an effort to help make family vacations more affordable. Frontier understands my family’s motto of ‘buy memories, not things.’

This is out of the norm as most airlines only allow children under the age of 2 to fly for free if they sit on their parent’s lap.

However, there are a few stipulations. One of them is the deal is only good for those that sign up for the airline’s Discount Den program. The program is available for $59.99 per year. It also only applies to select flights domestically and on certain days. Frontier Airlines is running the special from February through August and the specifics are designated on their website. Also, the deal does not apply to any previously booked flights or changes to those previously booked.

The usual travel extras, like your seat selection and checked bags, are not included in the special. An adult seat must still be purchased for each 14 and under seat that is selected. The Discount Den program does promise ‘exclusive access’ to additional savings and lowest fares, but kids do not earn any Frontier miles for their flight.

John Stamos and Wife Caitlin Celebrate First Anniversary at Disneyland Park! John Stamos and his wife, Caitlin, celebrated their first anniversary with Mickey and Minnie posing for photos in their celebration outfits at the Disneyland Park today!

John Proposed to Caitlin in Disneyland back in 2017. Not only did he propose here, but they also celebrated their honeymoon at Disneyland as well! Stamos proposed in Disneyland last October after the couple had been dating for almost two years.

What could be cozier than a Disney Spirit Jersey? I think the Disney Hooded Spirit Jersey might just be it. These cozy new hoodies are a fun twist on the ever popular Disney Spirit Jersey we all know and love.

The hooded style is actually a popular one for the Spirit Jersey brand. This marks the first time that the Disney x Spirit Jersey collabs have done a hooded version though. So far it’s available in a faded black, with puffed white ink, for a relaxed casual vibe. The back has the Disney Park logo like we normally see, with a matching logo on the front. In addition to the hood, there is also a pocket pouch in the front which is perfect for keeping your hands warm, or stashing your phone and keys. The hooded style does run a bit slimmer than the regular unisex Spirit Jerseys, so they might fit a bit differently.

La Hacienda de San Angel in Epcot Has a New Menu!

The La Hacienda de San Angel restaurant located in Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion is getting a menu overhaul! The back story of this cozy little restaurant really helps you understand the restaurant. The story states the restaurant is the rambling home of an artistic family who opened their home to guests.

Inside the restaurant those guests can find a mixture of booths and table and chairs in a comfortable and inviting space. The restaurant also has lowered lighting, which really adds to the ambiance of the restaurant. Take a look at the lights hanging from the ceiling! They are a fun star-shaped made out of tin with holes punched into it. If the décor doesn’t draw you in, the view certainly will! The restaurant features floor to ceiling windows looking out onto the water! So gorgeous!

Now, La Hacienda de San Angel has a new updated menu. The restaurant has removed quite a few items from the menu and added a few replacements. Among the items removed are Empanadas, Aqua Chile de Camaron, Ensalada de Salmon and the handcrafted premium Margaritas, 5 de Mayo.

Even though some of the favorites have been removed, the newly added items should be able to fill that void. New on the “Starters” section are Tlayudas-Oaxacan tostada, barbacoa beef, black beans, Mexican sour cream and pickled onions, Sopes de Chorizo-Chorizo, potato, black beans, Mexican sour cream, queso fresco and salsa verde, and Cazuela de Camaron-Shrimp and Chorizo tossed with shishito and red bell peppers.

The Entrees should really make your mouth water, however. New to the menu Pescado del Dia-catch of the day, or Alambre de Res-Flank Steak, bacon, poblano and bell peppers with Monterey Jack Cheese, lime and salsa verde with flour tortillas. Guest can wash it all down with the new handcrafted premium Margarita, Café de Oaxaca made with illegal mescal, vanilla ice cream, coffee and agave nectar.

New Coco show coming to Epcot’s Mexico pavilion

One of my favorite things about exploring World Showcase in EPCOT, is learning about the different countries cultures. Some of the best cultural experiences are the musical performances!

Now we have something brand new to experience in the Mexico Pavilion. The roaming mariachi group Mariachi Cobre will expand their performance repertoire to present the Story of Coco. Joined by two Folklorico dancers, the group will tell the tale of Miguel Rivera and his love of music. Even Miguel himself will make an appearance in the form of a hand-carved puppet. The dancers along with the mariachi will being to life everyone’s favorite songs, and learn the story of Miguel and his familia.

The new show will be performed in the Mexico pavilion starting on March 6th. Until then, guests can continue to enjoy Mariachi Cobre‘s daily performances of traditional Mexican mariachi. Bring your familia and make plans to see the story and music of Coco come to life during the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.
