New Chocolate Overload Cookie at Electric Umbrella

New Chocolate Overload Cookie at Electric Umbrella

Few things are more American than a good ol’ fashioned chocolate chip cookie.  Well, Electric Umbrella at Walt Disney World’s Epcot Center has taken that ol’ fashioned confection to the next level and transformed it into the brand new Chocolate Overload Cookie! This is the perfect cookie for the futuristic Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow.  Maybe this is the cookie Walt Disney himself imagined would be served when he came up with the idea for Epcot?!

New Chocolate Overload Cookie at Electric Umbrella

A perfectly soft baked (HUGE) chocolate chip cookie is generously drizzled with white chocolate and caramel sauces.  Who does not love the sweet and salty mix?!  Then to add just a little more pixie dust, chocolate crunch pearls are the perfect garnish.  At only $3.29 (plus tax) or one snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan, it is a great sweet treat to share with that special someone (or If you are like me you do NOT share).

New Chocolate Overload Cookie at Electric Umbrella

I am definitely a person that “eats” with their eyes first, and this cookie is a true feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds! This is one grand and miraculous Chocolate Overload cookie! With just one bite, step into the great big beautiful land of tomorrow.  Who knows maybe next time I whip up a batch of chocolate chip cookies at home, I will make my own version of Chocolate Overloads?! I know my family will LOVE that!

Have you ever eaten at Electric Umbrella and tried this new sweet treat? Post in the comments below.  As always, stay hungry Disney friends!

Come and Take a Ride on the Classic Disneyland Railroad!

Disneyland Railroad

Choo Choo! The Disneyland Railroad celebrated 63 years earlier this month!  Let’s take a closer look at this iconic Disneyland attraction!

Main Street Station is the first thing that guests see as they enter Disneyland park. This Victorian-style station is framed with a centered sign including both the elevation of 138 feet above sea level and the population of Disneyland, which is updated periodically to reflect the number of guests who have visited the park since it opened in 1955. The Kalamazoo handcar, a fixture in the park since 1958 is in front of the station.  this unique addition to Walt’s collection sits on the former passing track.

Once you step inside Main Street Station you will be wowed with the period details, railroad memorabilia and photos demonstrating Walt’s love of railroads. You can all see a reproduction of the Lilly Belle,Walt’s original Carolwood Pacific locomotive, in the center of the station. The original 1/8-scale “live steamer” was named for his wife, Lillian Disney, and was the main engine for the half-mile track around his family’s home in Holmby Hills.

Come and Take a Ride on the Classic Disneyland Railroad!

The New Orleans Square/Frontierland Station is the first stop on the Disneyland Railroad. Buildings, including a functional water tower and a loading platform, make up this station. Across the tracks from the loading station is the original Frontierland depot that existed before New Orleans Square was built. The original Frontierland station was inspired by the wooden depot featured in the 1949 Disney live action film, “So Dear To My Heart.” Walt Disney initially wanted to re-use the actual set piece that had been built for the film, but when he learned that his friend and fellow animator Ward Kimball had already modified it into a fully functioning building for his personal Grizzly Flats Railroad—thus making it difficult to move—Walt asked his designers to build a new one just like it.

Come and Take a Ride on the Classic Disneyland Railroad!

The ride continues along the Rivers of America where you can see landscapes that were inspired by four of America’s majestic rivers—the Mississippi, the Columbia, the Missouri and the Rio Grande.  You’ll pass waterfalls, wildlife and some familiar sights of the old west. Keep your eyes open for some familiar logos from a ranch that once was located around these parts.

Come and Take a Ride on the Classic Disneyland Railroad!

Pulling into the Mickey’s Toontown Train Depot you may get dejavu! The station is a cartoon version inspired by the original Frontierland Station. It has the same basic design with a similar roof style and a small fenced-in section for luggage and other freight.

Come and Take a Ride on the Classic Disneyland Railroad!

You’ve got one more stop before your return to Main Street in Tomorrowland. As you pass through the 306-foot-long Grand Canyon Diorama, be sure to keep an eye out for landscaping, ancient ruins and various examples of indigenous wildlife. As the trains move past the Grand Canyon Diorama, they make their way to another diorama, this one taking guests to the mysterious Primeval World. The Primeval World Diorama and Audio-Animatronics dinosaurs were originally designed and built by Disney for the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair and were added in 1966 to enhance the Disneyland Railroad experience.

This is a classic Disneyland attraction that everyone should experience at least once.  Have you taken a ride on the Disneyland Railroad?!

11th Annual Tour de Turtles at Disney’s Vero Beach Happened Last Weekend

11th Annual Tour de Turtles

The 11th Annual Tour de Turtles at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, hosted by Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment and the Sea Turtles Conservancy, happened this past weekend. During the event two loggerhead turtles took of on an adventure into the big blue world! This family-friendly educational event promotes sea turtle care and conservation.

The festivities where themed to “Toy Story” in celebration of the Disney’s Hollywood Studio’s Toy Story Land opening in June. This theme was also the inspiration of the two turtles’ name, Trixie and Mrs. Potato Head!

They were cheered on for their big adventure with lots of pals along the shoreline.  This marks the beginning of a three-month long journey from their nesting beach to their foraging grounds. The turtles were outfitted with satellite transmitters to track their journey in real time.

Up next for Trixie and Mrs. Potato Head?!  They may stay near the coast if they plan to lay more eggs.  Or they could take off to some of the places other turtles have ventured to in the past, including Naples, Fla., Key West, Cuba and The Bahamas.

Trying to guess where the turtles will go next is just part of the Tour de Turtles fun! All the turnes that have been released as part of this event during the the last 11 years have been followed and each has traveled an average of 1,300 miles.

Loggerhead turtles are a threatened species, which means they are at risk of becoming endangered or extinct. As home to one of the most active sea turtle nesting sites in Florida, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort takes great care to protect these animals, and even has a dedicated conservation team on site. In addition, Disney is helping support cleaner nesting beaches and oceans for sea turtles through its conservation efforts and environmental actions. The company just announced a global commitment toward reducing its use of plastics, a move that we hope will inspire our Guests to make changes that positively impact sea turtles and other marine life.

Want to get in on the fun and follow Trixie and Mrs. Potato Head’s progress?   Just visit tourdeturtles.org. There, these Disney turtles will join other sea turtles in a race to see who travels the farthest. You also can relive the fun of the Tour de Turtles event by watching a rebroadcast of the livestream.

‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Returns to ABC This Week!

Bachelor in Paradise

Bachelor in Paradise

The wait is over, Bachelor Nation! “Bachelor in Paradise” is set to return to ABC this Tuesday, August 7! The premiere episode promises to bring all the drama of past “Bachelor in Paradise” seasons when your favorite members of Bachelor Nation begin their journey for another chance at finding
love at a luxurious Mexico resort. Host, Chris Harrison, will of course be on hand to welcome  the men and women that are hoping to find true love on the beach like Carly and Evan or Jade and Tanner, who found each other in previous seasons, and have since married and started families. Later this season, these two happy couples will return to make an appearance in Paradise in addition to more Bachelor Nation twosomes and fan favorites, including Ashley I. and Jared, Raven and Adam, Arie and Lauren B., Ben Higgins, Becca Kufrin and Amanda Stanton.

It doesn’t take long for things to get interesting when the first bachelorette makes her arrival on the beach – literal and emotional baggage in tow. This lovelorn lady makes it clear that she is there for one former flame, even though she has no idea where his feelings stand or if he’ll even be joining her in Paradise. Ultimately, when the cast assembles itself, her bachelor of choice is nowhere to be found. Dismay quickly adds to her disappointment when the first date card has this particular girl’s name on it, and everyone is shocked when she decides to take another castaway from Becca’s
season on a romantic escapade.

One fit and feisty female is thrilled that a cute grocer wasn’t chosen for the first date, but when he shows interest in her nemesis, this notorious mischief-maker focuses her attention on a sexy Canadian lad. As the rest of the group get to know one another, they speculate about the first date of the season, certain that it will be platonic; but to everyone’s shock, the couple discovers that they are looking for the same things in a relationship and they actually hit it off.

Having finally taken his date’s mind off of her long-lost love, this heartsick young woman is excited, once again, about what the future holds. However, just when she thought she had moved on, the man she was originally hoping to see in Paradise finally arrives the next morning, date card in hand. Much to the chagrin of her date from night one, she is quick to accept another chance with her past love and hops aboard his jet ski. The rejected bachelor left behind is convinced that the man from his sweet date’s past has the wrong intentions, and he, along with some of the others, are itching for a confrontation when the couple returns.

Sounds like we are in for another exciting season of “Bachelor in Paradise!” Will you be tuning in?

Check Out the Jaleo Construction Progress Being Made at Disney Springs

Jaleo construction progress

We made a trip to Disney Springs this weekend to check out the Jaleo construction progress. We are excited with how everything is coming together and looking forward to the opening of this restaurant later this year.

Those curved roof beams still look so cool too me!  I can’t wait to see it when it’s finished. And to see what that architecture does to the inside of the space!  Designed by noted Spanish designer Juli Capella, the multi-level space will feature vibrant, theatrical décor representing the colorful culture of Spain.

Jaleo, which is coming to Disney Springs’s West Side, isa concept by world-renowned Chef José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup. With an extensive menu of tapas, this new eatery will bring the spirit and flavors of Spain to Disney Springs. Dishes like paella cooked over a wood fire, hand-carved Jamon Iberico de Bellota and wood-grilled Iberico pork will be featured on the menu.

This will be the first location in Florida, but there are five locations in the United States and Mexico City. The first floor of the multi-level restaurant will feature a “grab-n-go” storefront with Spanish-style sandwiches.

We are anxiously awaiting the opening of Jaleo later this year!

If steak isn’t quite what you’re looking for there are two other Lunch Plates- Chicken Salad Sandwich served on brioche with roasted tomatoes and house-made chips and the BLT+C which is bacon, lettuce, tomato, and four-cheese sauce served on brioche with a side of house-made chips.Wine Bar George Adds Steak Frites To the Menu

For lighter fare, you’ll find a selection of small plates which include items such as Jicama-Kohlrabi Salad, Grilled Octopus, Housemade Meatballs, and Porchetta-spiced Pork Cheeks.

Perhaps you’d prefer to dine “Family-style”, which offers a Skirt Steak with roasted potatoes, chimichurri, and seasonal vegetables; Grilled Whole Greek Sea Bass with cannellini bean ragout, seasonal vegetables, and lemon; or the Wine-braised Chicken with mushrooms, Yukon potato hash, and seasonal vegetables.

Finish up your lunch with something sweet such as the Olive Oil Cake, Key Lime Pie or The Chocolate Experience – a pairing demonstration of three wines and three chocolates.
