Slinky Dog Has Lost His Tail!

Where oh where is Slinky Dogs Tail?! The Slinky Dog Dash coaster has lost its tail. After a few months of operation, the tails of the Slinky Dog coaster trains were removed, reportedly due to safety concerns. The tails, that resembled Slinky Dog’s spring, have been removed from each of the back cars. No word yet from Disney on if, or when the tails will be reattached.

Slinky Dog Dash began full operations on the opening day of Toy Story Land, back on June 30. Since then, its been delighting guests as the crown jewel attraction of the area. Along with the other new attraction, Alien Swirling Saucers and the fan favorite, Toy Story Mania.

The ride-queue for the attraction lays out the fact that the coaster is one of Andy’s own designs. Scribbles of his “top-secret” plans for the coaster can be seen throughout the line. The coaster itself takes you through the twists and turns of Andy’s backyard, before treating you to a “big finale” of Wheezy serenading you with “You’ve Got a Friend In Me”.

Also, the Bacon Cheeseburger is cooked to perfection every time. I’m not overly adventurous in the sushi department, but the California Roll was dreamy. If you are more adventurous, try the Fantasy Roll. Fresh salmon, avocado, and cucumbers are rolled in soy paper and then topped with ahi tuna and steamed shrimp and spicy sauce. To complete your meal, try a Spicy Mango Margarita or my favorite, a Hurricane, or get both!

Explore the Edge & Vibe Clubs Aboard the Disney Magic

Today we’re checking out the tween and teen club spaces, Edge & Vibe, aboard the Disney Magic. Both spaces were recently renovated to update their looks while the ship was in dry dock in 2018. Let’s take a check out at their new looks!

Edge

The Disney Magic’s youth club just for tweens, ages 11-14, is the Edge. Located mid-ship on deck 9, Edge has a “boiler room” feel, with lots of exposed pipes and valves, decorated with artwork, stickers, and drawings. Tweens are invited to kick back and chill in the space that includes a 98″ plasma tv for movies, video game centers, arts and craft areas, a dance floor, and more.

Edge also hosts a bunch of daily activities led by the activities counselors. Kids can participate in ship-wide scavenger hunts and interactive games that encourage teamwork and fun. There’s even a snack bar where kids can fill up on approved snacks and drinks. Check out the video below for a quick tour of the updated space:

Vibe

Over on the Vibe side, teens ages 14-17 get their own private space. Located mid-ship on Deck 11, Vibe has an”urban loft” feel. The lounge area is outfitted with the latest technology and gaming, including Nintendo Switch, iPads, and arcade games. There’s also a large flat screen to watch movies or play video games. Some of the quiet corners include small spaces to read or play board games as well.

Its location gives you a fantastic view of the activities happening below on deck. Teens can sit at the updated bar, serving smoothies, beverages, and coffee, and look out over the ocean. Counselors are on hand here to keep the kids engaged in activites throught the cruise, like “Vibe Movie Makers”, where teens are invited to create and edit a movie, to be screened on the “big screen”. Breaking News: you can now Get Disney’s Famous Mickey Ice Cream Bars at home! This isn’t a drill, someone hide my debit card!! You can now get Mickey’s famous Ice Cream Bars at select grocery stores!

Avalible in a 6 count pack you can get them for as low as $7.49 per box at some of the markets we have checked out online. This is a pretty good deal compared to prices at the park. They are just slightly smaller than the original bars but have the same great flavor and shape.

They also feature the new Mickey 90 logo that was premiered at the Mickey: True Original exhibition. We found them online at Ralphs and a few other places. Let us know if you have them in your town.

Holoride, Disney, Marvel And Audi Making VR In Cars A Reality

Wouldn’t it be cool to be able to experience virtual reality while being a passenger in a car? Thanks to Audi, Disney, Marvel and Holoride, this virtual reality experience is becoming a reality!

The first public demo of “Rocket’s Rescue Run” debuted at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show at a racetrack in Las Vegas. The experience included a ride in a new Audi E-Tron with an Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. I think that we can all expect anything that Disney’s Games and Interactive Experiences unit is involved with will be an amazing experience! (This is the same group that brought you Star Wars: Jedi Challenges which is a lightsaber duel augmented reality experience.)

Holoride is now a startup, however, it originally began as a project within Audi. Holoride’s mission is to create VR content with the objective of entertaining ride-hailing passengers. They use data from the cars to thoroughly enhance the VR experience. The concept itself is similar to VR roller coasters such as Kraken found at SeaWorld Orlando, which until recently used VR headsets to enhance the ride experience.

Are you like me and experience motion sickness if you look at your phone or read a book while in a moving car? You may still be able to experience this technology! Because your movements during the VR experience would match the movements of the car it should theoretically alleviate motion sickness symptoms for those that participate in this new technology. Assuming this holds true, even if one can’t watch a movie in the back of a car they will potentially have a form of in-car entertainment that they can enjoy!

Doesn’t this just look like so much fun?! I for one would love to see this technology be available in the Minnie Vans. Traveling to and from Orlando International Airport would be such a fun experience and it would be a great way to start (and eventually end) a vacation! Palo Brunch On The Disney Magic

There are so many reasons that make a Disney cruise amazing, but one of my favorites is the food! Did you know there is an adults-only brunch on the Disney cruise ships? We’re on the Disney Magic today checking out the incredible brunch offered at the Italian specialty restaurant Palo.

The brunch at Palo is offered on most days at sea on each of the 4 Disney cruise ships (Disney Dream, Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, and Disney Fantasy). The buffet offers a wide selection of Italian meats, cheeses, fruit, Bloody Mary shooters (with a side of shrimp), king crab, pizza and so much more. Make sure you save some room for the warm cinnamon rolls (watch our video to see these sticky sugary treats)!

Let’s talk about the made-to-order menu. Here you’ll find traditional brunch favorites like eggs benedict, omelets and pancakes, and some delicious Italian classics. My personal favorites include the parmesan-crusted chicken breast and the lasagna bolognaise.

Captain Marvel! Disney Cruise Line guests will be the first to meet Captain Marvel when she makes her debut during Marvel Day at Sea. I’m excited that we’ll be seeing a lot more merchandise featuring Captain Marvel now!

The pun lover in me simply can not get enough of the “Ahoy Captain” designs.

New Ant-Man and The Wasp Ride Opening March 31st at Hong Kong Disneyland

Hong Kong Disneyland has announced the opening date for it’s highly anticipated “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!”. Opening March 31st, the newest Marvel attraction will allow guests to fight alongside the heroes in a battle against Hydra. The interactive adventure will feature the latest ride technology mixed with stellar Marvel/Disney storytelling.

The new attraction will expand on the exciting Iron Man Experience that opened in 2017 to much fanfare. Ant-Man and The Wasp must answer a call for assistance from Iron Man while at the Stark Expo in Tomorrowland. Bringing you along for the adventure, you’ll get to shrink down to the size of an ant to battle evil Swarmbots and defend the park. We can also expect a lot of the same quirky humor that made both Ant-Man films a success.

The ride will feature Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly reprising their iconic roles. Recently the stars hosted a video announcing the opening date featuring a sneak-peek of the ride itself. In the video, shots of the ride entrance, vehicle and settings are shown with the S.H.I.E.L.D. emblem. This gives guests an idea of the high level of detail Disney has put into this attraction. In the end, an ominous alarm begins to sound, meaning it’s time to suit up and go to work!

“Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!” is the next step in a multi-year expansion to Hong Kong Disneyland. It’s not only the first to feature Ant-Man and The Wasp but the first Marvel-themed attraction with a female lead. The plan to bring more Disney characters and properties to the park began in May 2018. “Moana: A Homecoming Celebration” was the first new attraction added for the expansion and has proved to be a hit. The park now has a complete Marvel-themed experience in the S.H.I.E.L.D. pavilion, with two rides and a massive gift shop. To add to the expansion, a third Marvel attraction is in the works, but no details have been released.

The king has returned! The Lion King themed Simba cupcake first appeared at Disney’s Animal Kingdom almost five years ago. The treat was a hit with Lion King and cupcake fans alike when it was first available. Now it’s back but with a slightly updated recipe for the film’s anniversary. The cupcake still looks the same on the outside, but as everyone in the pride lands knows, it’s what’s inside that counts!

Lion King Cupcake Returns to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The Lion King cupcake is yellow cake with sweet buttercream and an edible image of Simba in a mane of frosting. When the dessert first appeared in 2014, it featured a delightful passion fruit filling. For its return, the cupcake is filled with decadent white chocolate mousse. The mousse adds a chocolate kick that stands out among the vanilla flavors of the cake and frosting. If you’re a chocolate fan like myself, this is a welcome surprise to find! My true favorite part is the yellow and orange frosting that makes Simba’s mane. If you ask me, you can never have too much frosting. Lion King Cupcake Returns to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The cupcake is being released again just in time for the anniversary of the of The Lion King’s debut in theaters. The beloved Disney classic was released 25 years ago and has become cherished by many generations. Cupcakes aren’t the only way to celebrate this anniversary in the parks though. Starting January 18th, Animal Kingdom will offer The Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party, new photo opportunities and more to mark the film’s milestone. You can start working on your roar and grab a Simba cupcake for $5.99 at Creature Comforts (the Starbucks location) on Discovery Island. It’s also eligible for purchase with Dining Plan snack credits.

Purple Treats Arrive at the Disney Parks

It’s a new year and that means a sparkly new color at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts! The “Potion Purple” Mickey ears have hit the shelves at both resorts. This can only mean one thing; Purple treats everywhere! The purple treats are going to be a spectacular new addition for your Potion Purple Mickey Ears. Most importantly, this means the perfect Instagrammable photo op! The treats are available at Walt Disney World already and begin January 11 at Disneyland, unless otherwise noted. In addition to the Potion Purple ears and all the purple treats, beginning January 11, you’ll be able to completely deck yourself in purple, with a Potion Purple Spirit Jersey.

Let’s dive right into the scrumptious details of what and where to find the delectables.

Find this Purple Starry Sky Cake at Disney’s All-Star Resorts’ food courts. The Purple Starry Sky Cake features purple chocolate mousse on a chocolate sponge with a “galaxy” glaze and sprinkles.

Indulge over African Violet Cupcake. The moist vanilla cupcake mixed with the perfect concoction of berry preserves, and topped with chocolate buttercream at The Mara. The Mara is located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. This one is almost too pretty to not eat!

The Purple Galaxy Cupcake is out of this world adorable! Head over to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort or Disney’s Pop Century Resort’s food courts to scarf this down! This is raspberry jelly filled chocolate cupcake is covered with vanilla buttercream, pearls, glitter, and chocolate “ears.”

I hope Minnie has a matching dress for this precious Purple Minnie Cupcake! Inside Capt. Cook’s/Kona Coffee Bar, at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, is this beauty. This ones for all you PB & J fans! Inside the vanilla cupcake is peanut butter and raspberry jam before it’s finish with the purple buttercream top.

While you’re near the monorail, hop on and head over to Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Here you’ll find the Purple Contempo Cupcake. This foodie’s delight is filled with purple sprinkles surrounded by strawberry cake. There’s no better way to top a cupcake than lavender buttercream and perfectly placed, purple Minnie ears.

This one may be the one I try first. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort’s Roaring Fork is where you’ll find the Purple Blackberry Mousse Brownie. Blackberry mousse and a rich decadent brownie are sure to be a true temptation!

Parents, hide your kids from finding the Purple Cupcake inside Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts’ food courts. The vanilla cupcake has a surprising twist as you bite into it–cotton candy! That’s right, it’s stuffed with cotton candy and then topped with cotton candy buttercream, crisp pearls, and gorgeous glitter ears.

Last, for the Walt Disney World Resort, purple treats is a Black Raspberry Lemon Tart. At Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, Marketplaces, this sweet awaits you. The sugar tart shell is layered with black raspberry mousse over a black raspberry-lemon curd. Topping this adorable treat are our favorite ears!

Not pictured, but still deserves attention are the Purple Wall Cotton Candy & Purple Minnie Cake on a Stick. You can find these both in Magic Kingdom Park. The cotton candy is on the cart near the infamous purple wall and the Minnie-shaped blackberry cake on a stick is available January 11 on the Castle Hub Cart.

Now, let’s head to the west coast and make some food stops at the Disneyland Resort.

First up, the Purple Glove Macaron and Purple Rose. Both are found inside Disneyland Park. The Purple Glove Macaron have a blackberry-currant center with a blackberry and currant buttercream. The Purple Rose is a lemon, blackberry, and currant center with blueberry mouse.

Starting January 18, sip on the Jamaica Freeze at Rancho del Zocalo inside Disneyland Park. Also at Rancho del Zocalo, enjoy fish tacos with purple cabbage slaw. The Baja-style tacos are served with a side of blue corn chips.

It doesn’t get any tastier than this Lavender Milk Tea. It has lemon filled pearls, purple whipped cream, and a rim of lavender sugar. Find this at Red Rose Tavern, inside Disneyland Park.

Next, our last drink is at Bengal Barbecue, inside Disneyland Park. The Jungle Julep springs your tastebuds into full awareness combining pineapple, orange, grape, and lemon into a slush drink.

Finally, it’s not a trip to Disneyland Park without a churro. Even better, a Purple Churro.

Find more purple treats at Disneyland Park. Not picture, but noteworthy are the Berry Berry Purple Cobbler, Purple Cake Pop, and Taro Pancakes.

‘Ohana Noodles are Back on the Menu!

For a short time this weekend, the dinner menu at ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort looked a little different. Instead of the usual noodles, guests were surprised to find fried rice in their place. And to say the reaction was one of disappointment would be an understatement.

Turns out that the decision to substitute the rice for the noodles was not a planned menu change. When the Cast Members arrived at the restaurant on Friday, they were given some bad news – the restaurant food supplier was out of noodles, and they would not have any back in stock for three days.

The chef’s had mere hours to come up with a new recipe to serve that evening, so they did the very best that they could. Thanks to some quick thinking, they came up with a fried rice dish to serve to guests for the next few days until the noodles were available to be delivered again.

Cast Members got another (much happier) surprise on Sunday when the delivery truck brought noodles, one day ahead of schedule. There was a collective sigh of relief that the menu could be reset, and noodles could be served again with other guest favorites such as the wings and potstickers.

There were a few recent planned menu changes on both the drink menu and to the dinner salad.

The ‘Ohana salad is now a mix of kale, spinach, and radicchio with cranberries and crunchy noodles and a light and delicious honey vinaigrette.

There are two new specialty cocktails – Paradise Punch and Tiki ‘Ehiku – and a new mocktail called the Keiki Lemonade. The Paradise Punch is a delicious mix of rums, whiskey, tequila, cranberry juice, coconut water, and tropical juices. The Tiki ‘Ehiku is a yummy mix of rums citrus and tropical juices with a hint of cinnamon. The Keiki Lemonade is a delightful mix of lemonade, pineapple, passion fruit, and citrus. Definitely try them out!

Disneyland Paris has a fantastic new ticket offer which has me feeling like a kid again! Right now, adult tickets are the same price as children’s tickets! Purchase your tickets today through March 31st, 2019 to take advantage of this new ticket offer. Tickets are valid for visits now through April 1st, 2019.

Not sure which ticket you need? Disneyland Paris’ ticket structure is similar to what we see here in the United States. Prices are lower when it’s less crowded and higher for busier times over weekends and holidays. The MINI Tickets can only be used for the dates in green, while the MAGIC Tickets can be used for any dates in green or blue as shown below.
