Disneyland Debuts 90th Anniversary Mickey Mouse Monorail Wrap

Who’s the leader of the club that’s made for you and me? M-I-C-K-E-Y-M-O-U-S-E! In celebration of Mickey’s 90^th Anniversary, Disneyland has enhanced the appearance of the blue monorail with a special Mickey Mouse themed wrap.

This timeless wrap features Classic Mickey and his memorable pie-face expressions.

The wrap starts at the beginning of the monorail with a simple paintbrush and a yellow brush stroke running along the rest of the cars. Each car features a different Mickey expression.

The wrap comes just ahead of the beginning of “The World’s Biggest Mouse Party” which begins January 18^th. Join in the party and celebrate our favorite Mouse turning 90. Don’t miss out the all-new show Mickey’s Mix Magic. Lasers, projections, lights, and music will transform parts of Disneyland in this highly anticipated high energy family friendly show. Make sure to check out Main Street U.S.A, Rivers of America, and it’s a small world for fun lights, sounds, and colorful projections.

Starting January 25^th, Disneyland is bringing back the popular Mickey’s Soundsational Parade. Your favorite characters will be in attendance along with lots of music, floats, and possibly a few surprises too.

In true Disney fashion, no good party would be complete without exclusive party attire and delicious party food. Keep your eyes peeled for party merchandise around the park and online. Hats, ears, plush and more are planned for the celebration. If you collect pins, watch for the limited-edition party pins.

Are you ready to rock the dots with Minnie Mouse this month? In honor of National Polka Dot Day on January 22nd, Disney Parks has launched lots of fun polka-dotty apparel and accessories, including a new Spirit Jersey! The Rock The Dots Spirit Jersey is inspired by Minnie’s style.

The Spirit Jersey is a crisp clean white, with a variety of different sized polka-dots on the bottom and sleeves. The polka dots also have a wide array of vivid colors, which POP on the white fabric. The park logo on the front of the Jersey has a cute and sassy Minnie Mouse in a pink dress sitting atop it too! The Logo on the front and back are done up a little bit differently from what we’ve seen before. They are the classic font, but the glittery words are outlined to make them stand out. Being that it’s a perfectly Minnie pull-over, this outlined color is a fabulous hot pink!

You can find the brightly colored Rock the Dots Spirit Jersey at select locations throughout the Walt Disney World Parks and Resort just in time to celebrate National Polka Dot Day on January 22nd.

Jaleo at Disney Springs Reveals Dynamic Design

The newest upscale eatery at Disney Springs, Jaleo will debut this winter. The restaurant will bring the flavors of Spain to the Walt Disney World resort by acclaimed chef José Andrés. “Jaleo” is the Spanish word for “revelry” and the plan for the venue definitely fits the name. Disney just released concept art for the 22,000 square foot restaurant and it features some exciting architecture.

The amazing colors and iconography of Spain are the centerpiece in this massive locale. The building itself is inspired by the shape of an artichoke. It features a dazzling roof formed like the petals of the native Spanish vegetable. What’s really eye-catching about the space is the lack of solid walls. The building is open to the outside and features no straight lines in the structure or decor. Giving the space an organic feel. Juli Capella, principal at Capella Garcia Arquitectura, said of the design; “There are no cubic forms, no opaque walls, no straight lines: here reigns a plant-like organic structure with its dynamic forms. An avant-garde, expressionist and welcoming architecture,”.

Touches of wood and ceramic accent citrus colors like orange and lemon inside and out. This color scheme adds to the welcoming ambiance. Two terraces line the outside. These feature views of the Disney Springs promenade and the lake area. Terraces will be available as part of the private dining options. With the designs also came the announcement of a quick service concept window addition. The section will serve sandwiches and salads inspired by Spanish street food. The area will add a laid-back and open feel welcoming guests to relax among all natural materials.

We are sure Jaleo will become one of Disney Springs best new restaurants with these beautiful designs and vibrant menu. Hence we are excitedly anticipating the debut this winter. Be sure to check back for the opening date of Jaleo as we will share when it’s announced.

Captain Marvel Lands Aboard Disney Cruise Line

We are only weeks away from the big screen debut of the newest Avenger, Captain Marvel. To celebrate her introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she flew in for a visit to the Disney Cruise Line. Captain Marvel made her first appearance at the “Marvel Day at Sea” on the Disney Magic this week. Chip was there and was one of the first to meet the Starforce ranger!

Guests were thrilled to snap a few pics with one of the most powerful heroes in the universe. The experience did not disappoint with the hero looking otherworldly in her Starforce suit, ready to defend the galaxy! Photos aren’t all she’s there for though. Captain Marvel will also be joining her cohorts to battle some of Marvel’s greatest villains. The action-packed “Heroes Unite” deck show will have many fan-favorite characters from the films. This massive show will feature an action-packed battle with dazzling stunts and effects.

“Marvel Day at Sea” features a full day of entertainment with heroic encounters, a super deck show, activities and more. The entire ship gets in on the celebration of Marvel with special merchandise and themed food and drink. Kids can look forward to Marvel themed activities at the youth clubs as well. Cruises offering the special day will set sail from Miami through March 8th.

Captain Marvel is the newest installment in the extremely successful Marvel Cinematic Universe. It follows the adventures of Air Force Pilot Carol Danvers. She becomes a member of the alien military team Starforce after learning about her true nature. Returning to Earth with questions about her past and identity, she must also save the planet from an intergalactic war. The film stars Brie Larson as Captain Marvel and Samuel L. Jackson reprising his iconic role as Nick Fury. Captain Marvel hits screens on March 8th.

The 411 on the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Expo

It’s that time again! The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend by Cigna begins January 9, 2019. As you prepare yourself for the weekend ahead, let’s take a look at what’s new and things you don’t want to miss at this year’s runDisney Health & Fitness Expo at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

The runDisney Health & Fitness Expo is open to the public over the next four days. This is where you’ll find everything you need for race weekend. The hours of operation are:

-Wednesday, January 9: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
-Thursday, January 10: 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
-Friday, January 11: 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m.
-Saturday, January 12: 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

The first thing you want to grab is your race bib and shirt pick-up. Every runner must pick up their own race bib at the Expo at least one day prior to their race(s). The bibs can be picked up inside the HP Field House. A valid photo ID and signed waiver are required before the volunteers will release your bib(s) to you. If you are unable to print your waiver in advance, there are computers & printers available in the HP Field House. After grabbing your race bib(s), head to the VISA Athletic Center to grab your adorable participant race shirts and gEAR bag. The exception to this are all participants in the Dopey Challenge or Disney Castaway Cay Challenge. These two events will find their shirts & gEAR bag inside the HP Field House.

What better way to celebrate your accomplishment than to pick up your race’s commemorative merchandise?! Head into The Arena to find this year’s merchandise selection featuring the “Fab Five” with a classic Disney character twist. Merchandise includes special, limited-release pins, performance apparel, and more to take home and show off, after you’ve finished your race events.

Be sure to stop by your favorite exhibitors after you grab all of your race event gear, in the VISA Athletic Center. In here you’ll also find Jeff Galloway speaking on training and racing tips, for the weekend. runDisney also has their runDisney Interactive Zone to offer free activities for runners, friends, and family. Enjoy pre-race yoga, foam rolling, and more.

Don’t forget to fuel your body for your upcoming events. There are specialty treats and beverages made just for runners, in various locations at the Expo. Protein Bites, Dijon Mustard Chicken Couscous or Quinoa Bowl, and Champagne with chocolate Mickey Topper are just a few of the highlights being offered.

Aquatica Orlando Becomes the First Water Park in the World to be a Certified Autism Center

Sea World has announced that its water park, Aquatica Orlando, has become the first water park in the world to be certified for visitors with autism.

On Tuesday, the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards(IBCCES) designated Aquatica Orlando as a “Certified Autism Center”.

As part of the process, the Aquatica staff are continually trained to assist guests and their family members as well. Training focuses on areas of motor and social skills, emotional awareness, sensory awareness, environment, and communication. Staff must also complete a comprehensive autism competency exam. To complete the process of becoming certified, an onsite review of Aquatica took place as well as guest experiences.

To make sure guests are comfortable when needing to take a break, the park is planning to have a quiet room with adjustable lighting and cozy seating. IBCCES sensory guides will be available online to assist guests in planning their day in the park. Specific information pertaining to which rides, and attractions will be best for them is also made available to autistic guests.

Voted the nation’s top water park, Aquatica is excited to add this certification to its list of accomplishments. Last April, Sesame Place, Sea Worlds sister park located in Pennsylvania became the first theme park to be recognized as a “Certified Autism Center”.

Dreams Within Reach For First Graduate Of Disney Aspire Education Program

Some would say that the Walt Disney Company is in the dream fulfillment business seeing as how dreams come true every day around the world at Disney Parks. With the recently launched, groundbreaking Disney Aspire education program, dreams are now within reach for Disney Cast Members. The Disney Aspire education program is a 100% tuition paid education program for U.S. based part-time or full-time hourly cast members. Hundreds of cast members have participated in this program and are working towards reaching their higher education goals.

The very first Disney Aspire graduate, Anthony Payne, is being featured in a new “Dreams Within Reach” series that spotlights participants of the program. Anthony, a custodial cast member at the Walt Disney World resort, just completed his HVAC technician course work at Penn Foster. This father of 3 works nights at Epcot, making sure the park is ready each morning for guests when they arrive. He is now one step closer to achieving his dream of working for Disney Cruise Line. This achievement was celebrated with a surprise visit from Mickey Mouse himself! Anthony says his biggest motivation to fulfill this dream was his wife and three children. “They have always been my biggest motivation,” he says. “I’ve wanted to go back to school for about 15 years now, and I haven’t heard of too many companies offering something as generous as this.”

“I really feel like Disney is investing in our futures, and they’re helping us to grow and follow our dreams. I can’t wait to use my skills, and advance as far as I can here.”

Disney Aspire launched in 2018 to assist 85,000 hourly cast members in pursuing their dreams by providing them with access to educational programs, coaching, and the job skills needed to reach their goals. This $150 million dollar program gives cast members the opportunity to pursue their dreams, whatever they may be, by enrolling in online courses across a network of schools, with Disney covering the cost of tuition and books.

Whether technical skills or a bachelor degree is needed to pursue the dream, Disney is there every step of the way from application to graduation. A New Trailer for Captain Marvel has been Released

A superhero is set to make her film debut! Were you able to catch the new trailer giving an exclusive look at the new Captain Marvel film that aired last night on ESPN? If you weren’t tuned in to to the National Championship Game you can find the full sneak peek below.

Time is ticking toward the release of the movie and introduction of Marvel Studios latest superhero brought to life on film. The adrenaline pumping trailer is the perfect preparation for the highly anticipated film due to open in theaters nationwide March 8, 2019.

Captain Marvel is filled with an all-star cast, including Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), and Ben Mendelsohn (Talos).

Producer, Kevin Feige and directors, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are artistically bringing her to life on screen in the film set in the 1990s.

So just who is this superhero who has the ability to defend us from the shape-shifting Skrulls and is able to shoot a photon blast by making a fist? Follow Carol Danvers as she attempts to learn who she is and harness her powers to become “Captain Marvel”. She will be defending earth against two alien races who have brought their war to this planet. Captain Marvel is sure to be the hero we all need.

This high flying superhero film is expected to have you on the edge of your seat from the first scene until the credits roll. Be among the first to see Captain Marvel, tickets sales are underway and can be purchased everywhere movie tickets are sold.

Fans of IllumiNations will be filling in the areas all around the World Showcase Lagoon throughout the next few months for that last chance to create and relive memories of watching the nighttime show for the last 20 years. If you are hoping to have one more special experience to view the show from a different perspective consider the new IllumiNations Dining Package. The package is available starting January 18, 2019.

Enjoy the laid back patio while dining and a unique IllumiNations viewing perspective from Rose & Crown with a prixe fixe dining experience featuring several selections from the popular menu. The menu includes choices of an appetizer, entree, and a pudding platter for dessert. Starters include the United Kingdom Cheese Platter or Scotch Egg. Captain Marvel to Appear in Marvel Show!

Disneyland Paris has just announced that Captain Marvel will feature in one of the Marvel’s Season of Super-Heroes shows “Stark Expo: Make Way for a Better Tomorrow”.

Marvel’s Season of Super-Heroes will be held in the Walt Disney Studios Park from March 23rd to June 16th! This season promises appearances from many beloved characters from Captain America, Spiderman, Iron Man to Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy! Red Skull from Captain America: The First Avenger has also been announced to make an appearance which is new for this season!

This season also promises guests epic shows, immersing the audience with ground-smashing, heroic special effects from Marvel: Super Heroes Unite Show and the return of the Stark Expo, which will be renamed Stark Expo: Make Way for a Better Tomorrow, new for this season!

Calling Marvel fans, this year’s Marvel Season of Super-Heroes sounds the perfect time to visit Disneyland Paris and experience all your favourite superheroes or super villains!

New ‘Market’ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

There’s a new spot to grab a drink and snack, ‘Market,’ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The area is just catty-cornered from Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream to the left as you round the corner to the entrance of Toy Story Land.

Although you are able to grab a Mickey Pretzel or Churro from Market, the menu features mostly alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to choose from.

After Slinky Dog Dash takes you for a whirl, dash over and grab a specialty alcoholic beverage from Market, as you exit Toy Story Land. They include a Tropical Fruit Punch with Bacardi Superior Rum, Wild Strawberry Lemonade with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, a Frozen Pina Colada, and last, a Frozen Margarita. The beer selection is Bud Light, Yuengling, and Corona Light Draft.

For your youngsters, or those who prefer otherwise, the non-alcoholic selection includes Wild Strawberry Lemonade, Frozen Non-Alcoholic Pina Colada, and Tropical Fruit Punch. You can also get your normal Coca-Cola products and bottled water.

This area is formerly Pixar Place. It is currently transforming into Municiberg city block to host a meet-and-greet with Edna Mode from The Incredibles. There will also be a dance party featured here beginning January 18th. The Market appears to be part of the preparations for the block party and meet-and-greet.

Take A Tour of The Oceaneer Club and Lab Aboard The Disney Magic

One of the things that sets the Disney Cruise Line apart from others, is the number of unique experiences for kids. The best example of this would have to be the Oceaneer Club and Lab. This highly interactive space allows kids to play, experiment and explore in a fun themed environments while parents are away. With areas like The Marvel Super Hero Academy and Pixie Hollow, there’s something for every kid to enjoy. Experiences vary depending on the ship. Chip recently had a chance to tour the Oceaneer Club and Lab aboard the Disney Magic and we’ve got some great shots of the space to share.

The Oceaneer Lab is where kids can create, experiment and even learn to cook. Activities like Disney art classes and sloppy science experiments make this area very popular with the younger cruisers. The beautiful theming always makes parents jealous that they aren’t allowed to join in on the fun. Even the bathrooms are whimsical!

The Oceaneer Club begins with the main library which serves as your entry point into four magical worlds. On the Magic, kids can drop into The Marvel Super Hero Academy, Disney Jr., Pixie Hollow or Andy’s Room. Each world features games, play areas, and experiences only found on the ship.

At The Marvel Super Hero Academy, your little hero can train to be an Avenger with special video games and character interactions. Is your kid worthy enough to lift Thor’s hammer? Andy’s Room is an indoor playground making it a great place for kids to get out some energy. The multi-level area features a giant Slinky Dog slide and plenty of surprises to explore.

Pixie Hollow is a magical forest setting where guests can dress up, use kid-friendly computers or work on crafts. Smaller guests can enjoy the Disney Jr. play area featuring visits with favorite characters from the channel. For very young children, parents can take advantage of the “It’s a Small World” Nursery. This bright and fun section allows parents to enjoy the ship while little ones play games, make crafts and nap.

The Oceaneer Club and Lab can be found aboard every Disney Cruise ship and is open to all ship guests ages 3 to 12, but offerings vary by ship. The “It’s a Small World” Nursery is available for ages 6 months to 3 years. Guests can pre-register or register on board but must check-in at the lab or club on embarkation day. All activities are included in the cost of a Disney Cruise Line reservation.
