New Restaurant, Pepe, Attached to Jaleo in Disney Springs

The ThinkFoodGroup owned by José Andrés just announced today the first-ever upcoming brick-and-mortar location of the beloved Spanish food truck, Pepe!

Pepe will be attached to the lively new Jaleo in Disney Springs opening this winter. The venue will feature both hot and cold Spanish-style menu items such as bocatas, salads, soups, sides, and Spanish sangria.

A few of the other menu items released include:

Pollo Frito – breaded chicken breast, aioli, bravas sauce, piparra peppers, gem lettuce, and sherry dressing
Serrano y Manchego – served on crispy Pan de Cristal with tomato fresco
Bocata de Vegetales – made with roasted peppers, onion, asparagus, spinach, manchego cheese on Pan de Cristal

The decor of Pepe was designed by Spanish designer Juli Capella and will feature a gorgeous exterior with a vibrant, theatrical interior that represents the colorful and dynamic Spanish culture. Marc Jesús, a famous Menorcan painter, also designed a beautiful mural for the walls of Pepe.

Jaleo is a great addition to Disney Springs and it is even better with the newest member, Pepe. There are several other locations of Jaleo across North America in Washington, DC, Las Vegas, Mexico City, and many more that continue to showcase the culture and delicious food of Spain.

Set to open soon, Jaleo and Pepe are sure to be a popular lunch and dinner stop for Disney foodies.

New Parking Structure Takes Shape at Disneyland Resort

The Disneyland Resort has been working on many new expansions and changes recently. Work began last year on a new parking structure to better handle the larger influx of guests from off-property. The new 6,500 space parking deck is being built near the Mickey and Friends structure on Magic Way. The upcoming parking area is a needed addition as spaces for day guests have become increasingly hard to find on busy days.

We just got a new look at the current progress of the new parking structure slated to open this year. It looks as if construction for the main deck has almost been completed, and the final sections are being finished. Late last year, a pedestrian bridge was announced for the deck that will give guests access to the Downtown Disney District shopping and dining, and subsequently the parks’ entrances. This new bridge and deck will provide a safe path and eliminate foot traffic across Disneyland Drive and Magic Way.

The new expansions in parking are being created to improve traffic flow at the resort. With the addition of 60 percent more access lanes and adding capacity to parking on the west side of the property, Disneyland is expecting to speed up guest arrival time. To help with this new set-up, the parking tram boarding area will undergo enhancements to allow use by guests at both the Mickey and Friends structure and the upcoming deck. A completion date for the new structure has not been announced, but construction is expected to finish later this year.

Zootopia-Themed Expansion Headed to Shanghai Disneyland

Officer Hops is on the case! It looks like big news is coming to Shanghai Disneyland! There is a Zootopia expansion in the works that will bring the characters from the animated hit to life! This will be the eighth themed land to come to the newly revamped park. Using state-of-the-art technology, the park will invite guests to fully immerse themselves in the Zootopia metropolis.

“We are thrilled to announce that Shanghai Disneyland will be home to the world’s first Zootopia-themed land,” said Bob Chapek, Chairman of Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products, The Walt Disney Company. “The rapid rate of expansion at Shanghai Disney Resort demonstrates our confidence and commitment to the Company’s future development in China.”

Due to the box office records for the film in China, ranking No. 1 animated feature film in history, it only fits that Shanghai is the perfect place for the new land!

“Since the resort’s Grand Opening in 2016, Shanghai Disneyland has gone from strength to strength – continuing to expand and enjoying ever-rising attendance rates while also providing a safe and enjoyable experience for our guests,” said Yang Jinsong, Chairman of Disney’s Chinese joint venture partner for Shanghai Disney Resort – Shanghai Shendi Group. “Shanghai Disneyland has rapidly become one of the fastest growing Disney parks and has been key to the development of the Shanghai International Resort as one of the most visited leisure destinations in the country. Universal Hollywood is well known for it’s extravagant themes around the park that transports you to a different time and place. Each food item captures this same theme around the park with its combination of flavors and sensations.

Universal Hollywood has highlighted six must-try menu items for guests.

Butterbeer Ice-cream- Fans can find this popular treat at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. If you are a fan of butter-beer there is nothing better than this cold treat on a hot day, or any day really.

Bangers and Mash at Three Broomsticks– Also located in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, enjoy a traditional British dish at the Snow-Capped Inn. These flavors will bring you back home as you enjoy this savory meal.

Chicken Waffle Sandwich-Located in Springfield, U.S.A at Cletus’ Chicken shack, guests can enjoy this irresistible sandwich. Enjoy this double battered, extra crispy fried chicken breast between two waffles with maple syrup mayo. That sounds heavenly!!

Dates Announced for Delicious Disney Chef Series – Storytelling with Food

Walt Disney World has announced the first three dates the Delicious Disney Chef Series – Storytelling with Food. Guests are in for an incredible, fine dining event that showcases the talents of the WDW resort’s top chefs.

The first dinner will be held at Markham’s at Golden Oak on January 28th. Golden Oak is an exclusive community of expensive homes and Markham’s is the community’s clubhouse and private restaurant that is most often only available to residents.

The chef at Citricos at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Dominique Filoni, will lead a team of chefs in the night’s theme – the 60th Anniversary of Sleeping Beauty. The menus are always a surprise and have not been released, but each item will symbolize an aspect of the beloved film.

The celebration will begin at 6:30 pm with a reception followed by an elegant dinner. Tickets for this event are all inclusive at $399 per person. Reservations can be made by calling 407-939-5773 if they are still available.

The next dinner will be held on February 25th at 6:30 pm with Flying Fish chef Timothy Majoris for $349 per person. The theme is a tasting of the Many Lands of the Small World to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of “it’s a Small World”.

The following dinner will be on March 25th at 6:30 pm with Michael Rodriguez of the Yachtsman Steakhouse. This dinner will offer a Fantasy Culinary Adventure of DUMBO, also for $349 per person.

The Delicious Disney Chefs Series – Storytelling with Food is a great way to see Disney chefs outside of their usual kitchens and into a more creative mindset. Disney’s Skyliner Testing at Epcot’s International Gateway

It looks like Disney is doing testing for the Skyliner gondola system that is set to open in Fall of 2019!

These pictures were snagged at the entrance to Epcot’s World Showcase – better known as the International Gateway. As you can see, one of the Disney Skyliner gondolas is actually out on the wires!

The new state-of-the-art gondola system will connect Epcot and Hollywood Studios to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and the newest member of the DVC resort family, the Riviera Resort.

The Disney Skyliner will definitely provide an opportunity to see amazing views of WDW from up above, but controversy came about when Disney announced that the gondolas would not have air conditioning.

According to these pictures, the Disney Skyliner is quickly coming to life and we can’t wait to take a ride!

A Mouth-Watering Rib Recipe to Celebrate the Chinese New Year.

It’s the Year of the Pig for the Chinese New Year. You can join in on the celebration as well with a mouth-watering rib recipe! Starting February 5^th people all over the world will be starting their celebrations!

This year is a very exciting year for the Chinese culture. The Pig is the twelfth sign in the Chinese Zodiac Signs, which brings a lot of delicious pork dishes to celebrate this joyous time! Let’s take a look at a delicious pork dish you can make right at home. This signature pork dish is from Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, so we know it will be delicious. With this mouth-watering rib recipe with crispy, tender, messy, salty, sticky, sweet ribs you will be the talk of the celebration!

The ribs are first braised, then dunked in cornstarch and flash-fried for the crispy crust. The ribs are then doused in the proprietary Hoisin sweet-and-sour sauce!!

Morimoto Asia Hoisin Chili Sticky Spare Ribs

Pork Rib Braise

1-rack pork ribs

5oz Ginger (chopped)

2oz Garlic (chopped)

1 oz Canola oil

1 white onion, rough cut

1/4 cup Cooking wine

1 cup Tamarind paste

Hoisin Chili Sauce

1 cup Hoisin

3 cup Mae Ploy

1/2 cup Rice Vinegar

1/2 cup White Sugar

1/4 cup Fish Sauce

1/4 cup Soy Sauce

Frying/Garnish

2 cups of cornstarch

2 tablespoons freshly chopped cilantro

To make Sauce

Combine all ingredients from the Hoisin Chili Sauce list and fully mix with a whisk or a fork and reserve. The sauce can be made and kept overnight in the refrigerator.

Braise Pork Ribs

Place Pork Ribs in an oven proof pan. Place the ginger, garlic, white onion, cooking wine and oil into the pan. Cover with water and add the tamarind paste and gently stir the paste into the mixture. Cover with Aluminum foil and cook for approximately 3.5 hours at 250 degrees Fahrenheit or until the meat pulls away easily from the bone. Allow the ribs to cool in the braising liquid until able to handle easily. Once cooled slice the rack apart into individual ribs.

Frying

Lightly coat each of the braised/cooled ribs in cornstarch and fry in oil at 350f until golden brown and crispy (about 2-3 minutes) and place on a wire rack to drain and cool slightly.

Assembly/Plating

Once drained and slightly cooled, toss the fried ribs with the Hoisin Chili Sauce and plate (3) to a serving. Top with the fresh chopped cilantro and serve immediately.

Am I the only adult that has been disappointed that I cannot be transformed into my favorite princess? Well, be disappointed no more!

Disney introduced a new salon package in May 2018 which allows guests to be transformed into their favorite characters. The Character Couture packages are a little different from the pixie dust you will find at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. For starters, there are no set looks offered. Everything is open to interpretation. These interpretations could be of different characters, movie themes, Disney iconic characters and more!

Get a behind-the-scenes look at the process in the video below. See for yourself how each participant was transformed into Princess Jasmine, Princess Leia, and Maleficent at the Ivy Trellis Salon located in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Each participant raved about their experience during their Character Couture transformation. Since everything is open to interpretation you have the ability to completely customize your particular look. For example, the individual who was transformed into Maleficent decided on curls instead of horns and opted for dramatic makeup.

There are three different Character Couture packages from which you may choose.

Storybook Style ($80)

This package includes a classic character-inspired hairstyle.

Magical Makeover ($105)

This package includes a classic character-inspired hairstyle as well as makeup.

Timeless Transformation ($120)

This package includes a classic character-inspired hairstyle, makeup, and nails.

Advanced appointments are recommended for the Character Couture package as the salon is almost always fully booked. Appointments can be made at the following salons found at Walt Disney World Resort.
