New ‘Wild About Painting’ Class Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House

While we were at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge this past week, we heard a rumor about a new painting class coming to the resort. After speaking with a Cast Member today, I can confirm that “Wild About Painting” will debut at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House tomorrow!

“Wild About Painting” will take place every Sunday and Wednesday. The class is open to guests ages 12 and over. Gusts who are 21 or over, will be treated to a complimentary adult beverage. The cost of the class is just $50.00 and that includes all of your supplies.

The class begins at 11 am with check-in beginning at 10:45 am. Pre-registration is required at the class is limited to the first 20 guests who sign up. You can reserve the spot for your class by contacting 407-PLAY-DISNEY.

As mentioned, the first “Wild About Painting” class begins tomorrow, September 2, 2018. Will you be attending?

Construction Continues on the Magic Kingdom’s Club 33

Club 33

Construction has been underway at what we believe to be the future site of the elite Club 33 at the Magic Kingdom for some time now. We were thinking it would be just about open by now but by the looks of things, they still have some time to go.

As you can see the construction has extended all the way to the entrance bridge to Adventureland. The location of the structure and it being two stories is going to give Club 33 members a great climate-controlled view of Happily Ever After at Cinderella Castle!

Once complete, there will be a total of four Club 33 locations at Walt Disney World – one in each of the four parks. Currently, the location inside Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are open. The location at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is still under construction as well.

Tatooine Traders Refurbishment Set to Begin September 5th

Changes are coming to Tatooine Traders in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort. Beginning September 5th a Tatooine Traders Refurbishment will be underway.

Here is what you need to know about the refurbishment. Both Amazing Pictures and Droid Factory, located inside this Star Wars shop at the end of Star Tours: The Adventure Continues, will be unavailable during the refurbishment. Guests can find Amazing Pictures at Rock’n’ Roller Coaster and can they head over to Star Wars Launch Bay to find another Droid Factory.

Besides Amazing Pictures and Droid Factory, the rest of Tatooine Traders will remain open during the refurbishment. The refurbishment should be completed sometime in mid-October.

Tatooine Traders is the place to find out of this galaxy goods celebrating the iconic space saga, Star Wars. Upon your arrival, you’ll encounter displays overflowing with action figures, apparel, gadgets, LEGO kits, books and gifts galore—a captivating selection that would please any Jedi Knight.

Have you missed Mickey’s Soundsational Parade at Disneyland? Then, I have good news for you! Per listings on the Disney Careers website, it sounds like the parade will be returning in 2019.

Currently, there are three postings on the Disney Careers page. They are for the following positions:

Male and Female Character Look-Alike Roles for Mickey’s Soundsational Parade
Male Performer Roles for Mickey’s Soundsational Parade
Female Performer Roles for Mickey’s Soundsational Parade

The requirements for all three positions indicate the applicant “must be available for rehearsals on selected weekdays and weekends from end of November – January 2019.” The listings also state applicants “must be available for performances on weekdays and weekends starting end of January 2019.

If you are not familiar with Mickey’s Soundsational Parade, beloved melodies from classic Disney movies come alive through music, Disney Characters, and whimsical floats. Guests will spot colorfully costumed musicians, energetic dancers, and Mickey and his friends amplifying the fun with twinkling cymbals, steel drums, and bold percussion. Each fantastic float has its own unique musical style, like crowd-pleasing Bollywood and South American rhythms. Best of all, you’re encouraged to join the celebration for a giant jam session!

Mark Hamill Tweets to Aiden Vasque About Not Fighting Back to Bullies

A fifth-grade boy from California, Aiden Vasque, was hospitalized earlier this week after he refused to fight back against bullies. Wonder what his reason was for not fighting back? “It’s not the Jedi way”.

His mother, Lizette Casanova, claims this is the third year in a row that her son has gotten bullied at Two Bunch Palms Elementary School in Desert Hot Springs, California. “Yes he is different…BUT REALLY!?! Now we’re making hospital visits,” she said. Aiden Vasquez was taken to the emergency room after his mother said he was punched in the face by a bully. The bully first called him a bad name and then took his backpack. “Give me my backpack. Give me my backpack,'” he recalled asking the boy. “I went to go get it and then — pop.” He ended up in the hospital, suffering from a black eye and a laceration on his eyebrow.

“For those telling me I should tell my son to FIGHT BACK OR Hurt the kid [sic] we’re not those kinds of people,” Casanova wrote on Facebook. “I don’t need to fight with fists to prove a point. My son is incredibly gifted and that’s all I have to teach him to embrace he will be someone one day trust and believe! #StopBullying.”

The Facebook post has been shared thousands of times, and I got around to a Jedi himself. Mark Hamill tweeted, “SHOUT OUT to Aiden Vazquez for his courage & wisdom in the face of adversity. I’m so proud of you for showing that you can be a Jedi in real life. Congratulations, Aiden- The Force will be with YOU… Always!!! Your fan, mh.”

“I’m astonished by his wisdom & courage such a tender age,” tweeted Mark Hamill. “I may be a fictional Jedi, but this boy is the real deal. Not sure how to reach out to him, but I hope he sees this message & knows how much I admire him.”

That’s a pretty cool move from Mark Hamill.

Have a trip planned to Walt Disney World this Fall? Then, a visit to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a must! Guests attending the party are treated to complimentary trick-or-treating, your favorite Disney characters in their Halloween costumes, magical entertainment, and so much more!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party does require a separate theme park admission ticket to attend. There is a party tonight at the Magic Kingdom and in addition, parties will be held on the following evenings:

September 3, 7, 9, 11, 14, 16, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28 and 30
October 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, 21, 23, 25, 26, 28, 30 and 31

The party takes place from 7 pm to midnight but your ticket allows you to enter as early as 4 pm.

All guests are invited to dress in costume on party nights. (To see the full party costume guidelines, please CLICK HERE.) Guests are encouraged to pick up a treat bag for trick-or-treating and a park event map on their way in. The map will lead you to the trick-or-treating spots, special entertainment, and more. During the night, make sure to head over to the Main Street Fire Station to pick up the event-exclusive Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom spell card. This year’s edition is super cute!

A visit to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party isn’t complete without seeing the “Boo to You” parade. Held twice on party nights, the parade features the Headless Horseman leading of the hair-raising procession and includes classic Disney characters in their Not So Scary costumes. There is even an entire portion of the parade dedicated to the Haunted Mansion!

“The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular” features the fan-favorite Sanderson Sisters to run “amuck” for the evening as they call on Disney villains to help them conjure the ultimate Hocus Pocus Party Potion. This is one not to be missed! It will “Put A Spell On You!”

Another not-to-be-missed entertainment option is the “Happy HalloWishes Fireworks.” This fireworks spectacular lights up the sky with a villainous soundtrack featuring songs like “Grim Grinning Ghosts,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” “Never Smile at a Crocodile” and many more!

Man Finds 62 Year Old Disneyland Footage Featuring Walt Disney

I love checking out Disney Park footage from back in the day! Comparing the park now to what we have today is always a blast! Last year Jeff Altman came across 62 year old Disneyland footage his grandfather shot and shared it on YouTube.

That video is gaining more attention than ever thanks to a Reddit threat it was shared in.

But really, the coolest part of the video, at least to me, is seeing Altman’s grandmother meeting Walt Disney himself. Talk about magical!!

The video was filmed in 1956 by Altman’s grandfather on a Bell & Howell Filmo using 16mm Kodachrome film stock. You can see iconic parts of Disneyland that still draw visitors to the park today – like Dumbo and even the entrance with the Disneyland Railroad and iconic Mickey Mouse face!

And we get a glimpse of other parts of Disneyland that are just distant memories now!

At Least 2 New Disney Cruise Ships Are Headed For Port Canaveral

Great news for Disney Cruise Line guests who love cruising out of Port Canaveral! In a recent Port Canaveral Commission Meeting, the port’s CEO John Murray made a few statements regarding the new ships. He mentioned that at least two of Disney Cruise Line’s three new ships will be based out of the bustling Port Canaveral.

Disney Cruise Line announced last summer it’s plans for not two, but three brand new ships that will be joining the current four, bringing their fleet to a grand total of seven ships. Ship number 5 will join the Fantasy, Dream, Wonder, and Magic in 2021, with the other 2 right behind in 2022 and 2023.

Murray stated “Disney’s got a total of three. We don’t know if we’ll have two or three of those ships but they’re coming to Port Canaveral.” This announcement comes shortly after plans to upgrade Disney Cruise Line’s current terminal (8) and extend DCL to a separate terminal (10).
