Chinese New Year Festivities Occurring at Three Disney Parks.

It’s the year of the pig and the year of celebrations!  Disney will be celebrating with Chinese New Year festivities across three Disney resorts around the world.  Guests who are visiting Shanghai Disney, Hong Kong Disneyland, or Disney California Adventure will be able to partake in the celebrations.

At Hong Kong Disneyland, those that are visiting can start their celebrations today!  Hong Kong Disneyland is the first resort kick off the Chinese New Year Festivities occurring now through February 24th.  During the celebrations, guests on Main Street, U.S.A. can visit with Mickey and friends, including Duffy’s Cookie who will be joining the Chinese New Year festivities for the firs time!  Each friend will be decked out in their brand new Chinese New Year festivities outfits.  At the Castle Hub stage, guests can participate in a God of Fortune Goofy Celebration Moment or watch performers dressed in traditional Chinese outfits around the park.  Located in Fantasyland will be the Three Little Pigs-Fiddler, Fifer, and Practical!


Around Hong Kong Disneyland will be more than 50 new themed merchandise items and 60 themed food and beverage offerings throughout the resorts.  In addition, February 5 through 9 will feature newly designed Lai See packets distributed to visitors entering the park while stock lasts.

At Shanghai Disney, the Chinese New Year festivities will begin on January 19th through February 19th.  Shanghai Disney will be transformed into a festive atmosphere as vibrant lanterns, Chinese couplets, floral garlands and paper decorations bring this resort to life.  The Garden of the Twelve Friends will also be transformed into the Wishing Garden.

During this special event, guests can enjoy a special Chinese New Year festival carnival at the Wishing Star Market, customary drum ceremony near the Storytellers Statue, and watch Mickey and friends in a special performance of Shanghai Swing.  A nightly showing of Ignite the Dream: A Nighttime Spectacular of Magic and Light will be topped off with a post-show moment to commemorate the holiday on January 25-26, February 4-10 and on the February 19th.

At Disney’s California Adventure the Chinese New Year Festivities continue January 25th through February 17th.  The Disneyland Resort take this opportunity to showcase the Lunar New Year for guests of all ages to experience the Asian culture.  Guests can experience inspired food, music and entertainment during the celebrations.  During this limited-time opportunity guests can also enjoy an enhanced “Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession” featuring The Three Little Pigs while four Asian marketplaces pay homage to the Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese cuisine.
