New Permits for the Star Wars Hotel Have Been Filed

New Permits for the Star Wars Hotel Have Been Filed

We haven’t heard much about the new Star Wars hotel that Disney is developing other than ideas based on the concept art they revealed at the D23 Expo last year. California Coaster Kings just found new permits that were filed that reveal many new details about the resort.  From the look of the color-coded drawings, there will only be 32 rooms themed as “cabins” like in a spaceship located in the brown shaded in area located on the first floor. It is hard to tell if there will be additional rooms on the other floor.

It isn’t easy to make out the documents but it appears there will be one point of entry with security measures including x-ray scanners for luggage and guest metal detectors.

Once you leave the secure area you are “transported” in an elevator to your guest rooms. It leads you to believe that it will look something like the concept art that Disney released here.

Highlighted in yellow is where a table service dining experience and buffet. There is another room labeled “Dojo” which could be a store or another area for guests to be entertained. There also appears to be two different “portal” areas to the restaurant as well.  We can only imagine what extent the “space” theme will be within the resort.

We will continue to bring you details as we find them about the Star Wars Resort. Thank you to California Coasters for this great find! Do you have plans to visit Star Wars Land: Galaxy’s Edge when it opens?

Disney Wins Several Awards for Attractions and Entertainment This WeekThe Broadway-caliber musical Beauty and the Beast on Disney Dream won the award for Best Theatrical Production. This retelling of the classic Disney film brings the movie to life right on stage with dancing, music and beautiful costuming. The award is certainly well deserved as this show truly is a cut above most cruise ship entertainment.

Disney Wins Several Awards for Attractions and Entertainment This WeekThe award for Most Creative Multimedia Spectacular went to Celebrate! at Tokyo Disneyland. This multimedia water, protection, and pyrotechnics show made its debut on July 10 to celebrate Tokyo Disneylands 35th anniversary. It opened to critical acclaim. The show celebrates some of Tokyo Disneylands most popular attractions as well as beloved Disney films.

Disney Wins Several Awards for Attractions and Entertainment This WeekThe newest toy on the block also found acclaim. The Light Up Slinky Dog toy available in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios won the award for Best Hard Goods. It’s easy to see why. My toddler fell in love with this little guy while we were there last, and (unlike many souvenirs) has played with him nearly every day since. It’s safe to say Disney Parks has a hit with this simple, but entertaining new toy!

Mary Poppins Returns Posters Are Here

Mary Poppins Returns Posters

It’s been 54 years since the enigmatic Mary Poppins captured hearts on the big screen. After more than half a century, she’s back, making this one of the longest waits between a movie and it’s sequel in history.  One might say that with such a large gap, the opportunity has passed and the original is past it’s prime. Not our Mary though. Mary Poppins has made her way into the hearts and minds of generations and endeared herself as one of the most beloved characters in movie history so a sequel, no matter how late, is one that we are beside ourselves with excitement for.

Taking place 25 years after the events of the original,  Mary Poppin returns to the Banks home to help the children of her former charge, Michael Banks through a difficult time in their lives. A synopsis like that sounds perfect and full of magical opportunity for viewers to be swept up in the world of fantasy that has become so very definitive of Marry Poppins.

We do admit though, we’ve been nervous. The original cast has solidified themselves in our minds. Julie Andrews IS Mary Poppins.  Dick Van Dyke IS Bert. How could anyone take their place?  So when we received word today of new posters for the movie, we looked with skeptical optimism.  Boy, were we surprised. They look incredible and we are now we are wondering, sure Julie Andrews may always be Mary Poppins in our mind’s eye, but maybe, just maybe Emily Blunt is Mary Poppins too.

Take a look at the new photos in the gallery below and let us know what you think!

Absolutely Darling I’m Done Adulting, Where’s Disney Tee

Done Adulting

Done Adulting

I definitely have my “I’m done adulting days”, being a grown up has it’s perks and all, but sometimes I just want to be a kid at Disney again! I think this I’m Done Adulting, Where’s Disney Tee by MouseApparel on Etsy, perfectly sums up how I feel some mornings.

Absolutely Darling I'm Done Adulting, Where's Disney Tee

This adorable v-neck would be great while on a Disney vacation. It would also be perfect for a casual day with leggings on those days you just don’t wanna. They are available in grey, black or hot pink! The black shirt comes with white writing to be visible. Add in some Starbucks, and a Mickey Mouse rice kripsy treat, and I think I can recover in time for adulting again.

If you have days you’d rather be at Disney than adulting like me, you can get yours here.

Citizen Celebrates Being the Official Timepiece of Disney Parks

Citizen Celebrates Being the Official Timepiece of Disney Parks

We have already announced that Citizen was now the official timepiece of Disney parks, but today we have a special treat from Citizen featuring their new commercial.  The commercial has vintage Disney flair with the March Hare and his typical “late” Alice in Wonderland theme. It is too cute to miss!  All around Walt Disney World and Disneyland the attraction wait time clocks have been changed over to “Citizen” watch style.

Citizen Celebrates Being the Official Timepiece of Disney Parks

While the clocks are new, they have been seamlessly integrated into the already timeless attractions. In an official statement from Citizen: “As part of the long-term promotional alliance, the Citizen logo is now displayed on the Main Street U.S.A. clocks in Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Park at the Disneyland Resort. The logo is also featured on select FastPass clocks displaying return times for park attractions at both resorts. Additionally, the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort will begin offering Citizen timepieces featuring designs unique to Disney Parks beginning Spring 2019.” it was mentioned Spring 2019, when in fact the clocks have already been swapped out almost at every attraction.

This new partnership also branches out to the Marvel Universe!  The promotional alliance also includes a sponsorship of the Marvel Minute and other digital content on Marvel.com developed by Marvel New Media’s Creative Space.

Check out their new commercial spot airing on ABC now.

‘Storytelling Coaster’ – Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy Attraction – A Ride Like No Other – The first details of this epic ride are being shared. Innovations in this new storytelling coaster will amazing riders. Bringing to life the “Guardians of the Galaxy” adventure in an epic new way.

'Storytelling Coaster' - Epcot's Guardians of the Galaxy Attraction - A Ride Like No Other

Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek shared details of how the ride system and passenger vehicles will present an encounter that is unique. A storytelling ride that fuses the epic story with coaster thrills.

“On most coasters, the vehicles point straight ahead throughout the ride,” Bob explained. “But on this attraction, each individual cab will be programmed to direct your eye to the story happening around you.

What does this mean for riders? It means you are not watching the action around you, you are part of it from the moment you launch!  A few stats, once open the attraction will be one of the longest enclosed roller coasters in the world. In the construction earlier this year, 960 trucks of concrete were used in the foundation of the colossal coaster! To give you an idea of the size, the building that will house the ride is so immense, that the volume of four Spaceship Earth attractions could fit inside!

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ attraction is slated to open in Future World at Epcot for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort in 2021.

Are you a Guardians of the Galaxy fan? If you are, now is a great time to begin planning your visit to Walt Disney World Resort in time for the coaster opening!

Automated Photopass System coming to select character greeting locations

Photopass

Photopass

**Update 11/15/2018 12:51pm: We just received word from Disney directly about the possible changes to the Photopass service at Disney Parks.

“We will continue to have over 100 locations where Disney PhotoPass photographers will capture photos. We will be installing automated cameras at nine locations that will capture every moment of the experience from start to finish to allow guests to receive a wider variety of photos from which to choose.“-Disney

This is excellent news and we are happy to continue to have our favorite Photopass photographers snap those magical shots around the parks.

Here is a look at the news we reported early this morning:

Several sources online are stating that Disney is planning to replace Photopass Photographers with Automated Photopass camera systems. We are hearing that the Automated Photopass boxes will be rolled out for testing starting at the end of the month.

https://twitter.com/BackDoorDisney/status/1062912095258329088

So far the only location of the “Green Box” is the Tinker Bell Meet & Greet in the Magic Kingdom but they are expected to show up at more Meet & Greet locations soon.

The way these boxes work is the guest will use a touch point to scan their magic band after seeing their photo… think ride photos.

DisTwitter is quite upset at the possible removal of the Photopass Photographers.
