Woman files $3 Million Dollar Lawsuit over Space Mountain Injury

Space Mountain

A woman from Alaska is filing a $3 million dollar lawsuit against Disney for allegedly suffering a head injury when getting off Space Mountain in Disneyland according to the OC Register.

Sarah Andrews was visiting Disneyland in December of 2017 with her husband when Space Mountain shut down forcing her and other guests to evacuate the ride. Upon exiting the ride via a maintenance tunnel she struck her head against a low ceiling and she felt dazed and disoriented.

A Disneyland Cast Member instructed them to look down and watch their step but failed to warn riders about the low ceiling.

According to her report, she was eventually diagnosed with traumatic brain injury and permanent impairment requiring extensive continuing treatment.

Sarah Andrews is seeking $3 million in damages for medical expenses and lost earnings. She is being represented by Choate Law Firm in Alaska.

Disney Cruise Line Update on Hurricane Dorian

Disney Cruise Line Update on Hurricane Dorian

The Disney Cruise Line has issued a statement on Hurricane Dorian and the impact on their upcoming sailings.

September 4, 2019 – 8:45 a.m.

We continue to monitor the path and progress of Hurricane Dorian to ensure our guests enjoy safe and comfortable cruises, and to make certain our ships steer clear of the storm. The safety of our guests and crew is always our foremost concern. Since all tropical storms and hurricanes are inherently unpredictable, our plans may change from day to day based on the most current information. Please check this site often for the most up to date information.

Disney Dream – current sailing

Disney Dream’s current sailing was scheduled to return to Port Canaveral on Wednesday, September 4. However, after careful review of Hurricane Dorian’s forecasted path, and conversations with port officials in Florida, it does not seem likely that Port Canaveral will be available for our return on Wednesday.

Because of this, we will need to further extend this sailing and now expect Disney Dream to return to Port Canaveral on Thursday, September 5.

Disney Dream – Monday, September 2 changed to Wednesday, September 4

While we had hoped to preserve some portion of the voyage for our Guests’ enjoyment, we have had to change our plans given the inherently unpredictable nature of tropical storms and hurricanes. After careful review of the currently forecasted path, and conversations with port officials in Florida, we have decided to cancel the sailing completely. We understand this may be disappointing news, but we feel this was a necessary decision. The safety of our Guests and crew members is always our foremost concern.

Since the sailing was cancelled, Guests are eligible for a full refund of their voyage fare. Additionally, we want to offer Guests an opportunity to sail with us again and will provide them with a 20% discount on a future cruise.

Guests should contact us at 1-866-325-3905 or 407-566-7032 between Monday, September 9, 2019, and Thursday, October 31, 2019, to let us know if they would like to apply their credit to a new sail date between now and December 31, 2020, or receive a full refund. Guests who already moved to a different voyage will be able to apply the discount to their new sailing (some restrictions may apply).

We are truly sorry for the storm’s impact on our Guest’s vacation, and appreciate their understanding given the continued unpredictability of Hurricane Dorian’s path.

Disney Dream on Friday, September 6 & Disney Fantasy on Saturday, September 7 – NEW

Based on the current projected path of Hurricane Dorian, we do not anticipate any impact to Disney Dream’s sailing on Friday, September 6, or Disney Fantasy on Saturday, September 7. We expect to know more on Wednesday when the storm is forecasted to pass Florida’s east coast. Given the inherent unpredictability of tropical storms and hurricanes, we’re continuing to closely monitor the path of Hurricane Dorian and will provide updates as necessary.

Castaway Cay – UPDATED

All is well at Castaway Cay. Due to the tropical storm conditions the island experienced, we have some cleaning up to do related to landscaping and will need to make minor repairs to the roof of one small covered pavilion area. We are awaiting the arrival of survey equipment to evaluate the pier and ship channel, as is required after any storm, before we are able to reopen Castaway Cay to guests.

The Loungefly DuckTales Collection Has Us Saying Woo-oo

The Loungefly DuckTales Collection Has Us Saying Woo-oo

Every day they’re out there making Duck Tales! Well Loungefly most certainly is, spotted recently at Disneyland and coming to Walt Disney World is the new Loungefly DuckTales Collection! DuckTales has always been one of my favorites, and I’m squealing with excitement for the new Scrooge McDuck mini backpack, and Huey, Dewey & Louie crossbody!

Courtney from disneypixie21 discovered gold, that even Scrooge would be jealous of with this fabulous new collection. This collection joins an array of other DuckTales apparel now available at the Disney Parks as well.

The Loungefly DuckTales Collection Has Us Saying Woo-oo

The Scrooge McDuck style is a cosplay mini backpack. This cute bag is dressed up as “Scrooge” with layers of colorful appliques to create his iconic style. It even has a top hat that extends from the top! My favorite touch on this bag is the “gold” money bag zipper pull!

The Loungefly DuckTales Collection Has Us Saying Woo-oo

As much as I love mini backpacks, I also like to change up my purse silhouettes now and then. I might also be 100% obsessed with Donald’s adorably, and spunky nephews. The Huey, Dewey & Louie bag is a crossbody style, that has a lot of room for storing all your essentials. The plucky triplettes are displayed on a beautiful striped canvas bag as embroidered faux leather appliques. Their white feathers are also fuzzy!!

To say these are a must is an understatement! Which bag from the new Loungefly DuckTales Collection is your favorite? It is a hard choice for me!

6 year old donates to hurricane evacuees

6-year-old Jermaine Bell of Allendale, South Carolina, has an upcoming birthday. For his 7th birthday, he was saving up for a trip to Disney World. With the impending hurricane coming towards the East Coast, many people had to evacuate their homes.  Jermaine told CSRA news “The people that are traveling to go to places, I wanted them to have some food to eat, so they can enjoy the ride to the place that they’re going to stay at,”.

Jermaine did just that, trading in his birthday money for hotdogs, chips, and water. Jermaine served 100 plus people alongside highway 125 with his grandmother.  Jermaine’s Grandmother, Aretha Grant, even told CSRA, “He actually even prayed for a family while they were here in reference to their house being okay when they got back, so that was really tear dropping,”.

After the hurricane finally passes Jermaine hopes to still visit Animal Kingdom at Disney World.  Saying, “Go to Animal Kingdom and see lots of lions and have a Lion King party,”.

We Now Know How Scar Got His Name Thanks To ‘The Lion Guard’

We Now Know How Scar Got His Name Thanks To 'The Lion Guard'

We Now Know How Scar Got His Name Thanks To ‘The Lion Guard’. A question that has been bothering Disney Fans for 25 years, How did Scar get his Scar?

Fans believed we would finally get an answer in the live-action remake of The Lion King, but when the film left that particular story line rather vague, it was assumed we would never get to know how the scar, and nickname, came about. That is, until a recent episode of Disney Junior’s The Lion Guard, where the spirit of Scar reveals the gruesome details of how he received the iconic scar.

We Now Know How Scar Got His Name Thanks To 'The Lion Guard'

Check out the video below where Scar finally tells us about the event that led him to be named: Scar.

YouTube player

We first learn that Scar used to lead The Lion Guard back in the day. While on patrol near Pride Rock, Scar ran into another lion who was planning to overthrow Mufasa and take over the Pride Lands. He tried to charm Scar with stories of them ruling the Pride Lans together. The lion tried his best to trick Scar into working with him. When it didn’t work, the lion then led Scar to a rock with a snake hidden beneath it. The snake jumped out and bit Scar on his eye, leaving the wound.

The lion told Scar that there was venom in the snake bite and tried to bribe Scar by saying he would help get rid of the venom, but only if Scar agreed to help him with the mutiny. Scar refused and killed both the lion and the snake. That was just the story of how Scar received the wound. Come to find out, it was actually Mufasa who started calling his brother Scar.

When Scar went back to Pride Rock to tell the others that he had thwarted an attempt to take the throne, he thought he would be praised for his effort. Instead of thanking Scar for his heroic act, Mufasa laughs at him and calls him Scar, giving him the name he would be called the rest of his days. Mufasa then quickly moved on to other matters. Mufasa’s dismissal is what ultimately drives Scar to try and usurp the throne and that he should become the King of the Pride Lands.

We Now Know How Scar Got His Name Thanks To 'The Lion Guard'

So there you have it. It appears Mufasa was not always the most caring brother, and his actions led to Scar becoming evil. Not to say Scar’s actions were warranted after Mufasa’s behavior, but it does give us a good look at Scar’s backstory that has been shrouded in mystery for 25 years.

We Now Know How Scar Got His Name Thanks To 'The Lion Guard'

What are your thoughts on Scar’s story? Do you feel he was justified in his actions, or that he should have forgiven Mufasa? How did you think Scar received his iconic scar? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Disney to Donate More Than $1 Million to Relief and Recovery Efforts in The Bahamas

The Walt Disney Company & the Disney Cruise Line, has committed more than $1 million in cash and in-kind support to help relief and recovery efforts for those in The Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian.

“The Walt Disney Company stands with the people of The Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian,” said Robert A. Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company.  “We hope our $1 million donation will provide much-needed relief and help our neighbors, colleagues, and all those impacted by this devastating storm begin the long process of recovery as they work to put their lives and communities back together.”

Disney’s commitment includes a $1 million donation to non-profit relief agencies who will be undertaking recovery and rebuilding efforts, as well as the provision of supplies – including food staples and basic construction materials – to those in impacted areas.

As the needs in these communities are assessed, we are prepared to aid the relief and recovery efforts through funding, the provision of supplies and by providing support to our Bahamian Crew Members.”

Disney continues to monitor Hurricane Dorian and will coordinate on an ongoing basis with nonprofit organizations on emergency response efforts. This includes sharing lifesaving information with families before and during emergencies, prepositioning supplies at-the-ready to respond rapidly to natural disasters, and providing resources to activate large-scale responses as needed in the event of a disaster.
