Next month California businesses will no longer have capacity limits in place. The current state tier system which regulated COVID-19 measures, will no longer be in place starting on June 15, 2021.
“On June 15, the color-coded tier system…will no longer be in place,” said California’s Secretary of Health and Human Services Dr. Mark Ghaly. More specifically, he added, “Certain things like capacity limits will no longer be in place in California cities.”
Governor Newsom promised in early April that the state would be fully opening up on June 15. Dr. Ghaly confirmed that the state is on track to meet that date. If the state continues on track, capacity limits will be removed for movie theaters, concert venues and theme parks, though some businesses may require proof of vaccination.
From California’s Beyond the Blueprint page:
“All sectors listed in the current Blueprint Activities and Business Tiers Chart may return to usual operations in compliance with ETS/Cal OSHA and other statewide agency guidelines and standards with limited public health restrictions, such as masking, testing, and testing or vaccination verification requirements for large-scale higher-risk events.”
The state mask mandate will also remain in place. There is no timeline for the mask mandate.
The two main measures California continues to look at are sufficient vaccine supply for Californians age 16 and over and that hospitalization numbers are stable and low. Both measures look good right now.
Disneyland is currently operating at 25% capacity and is only open to California residents. Those measures can change starting June 15 but we will see what Disneyland decides to do.
Multi-platinum and global award-winning artist Florence + The Machine is set to perform a new original song, “Call me Cruella,” in Disney’s all-new live-action film “Cruella.” “Call me Cruella” will be featured in the film and on the original motion picture soundtrack and the original score album. Both albums, from Walt Disney Records, will be available on May 21. Experience the film in theaters or order it on Disney+ with Premier Access for a one-time additional fee on May 28.
On the “Call me Cruella” collaboration, Florence said, “Some of the first songs I ever learned how to sing were Disney songs. And the villains often got the best numbers. So to help create and perform a song for ‘Cruella’ is the fulfillment of a long held childhood dream. I’m so grateful to Nicholas Britell and Disney for allowing me so much creative freedom, and for trusting me with Cruella’s beautiful madness.”
Welch is the Grammy nominated songwriter and bandleader of Florence + The Machine. Her four critically acclaimed studio albums have sold millions of copies worldwide, with 3 top 10 albums in the US. In addition to the Brit Album of Year Award for her 2009 debut Lungs, 2015’s How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, topped the charts in the UK and US. Florence went on to win the Ivor Novello International Achievement Award for songwriting. Most recently, Florence made her acting debut in a live TV theatrical broadcast for the HBO and Sky Atlantic series “The Third Day.”
Commenting on the song and score, Britell said, “I am a massive fan of Florence’s, so it was a true joy to collaborate with her on Call me Cruella. With both this song and the Cruella score itself, the goal was to really embrace the raw rock aesthetic of 60’s and 70’s London. We recorded everything using all vintage gear and analog tape at Abbey Road and AIR Studios in London, melding orchestral elements with electric guitars and basses, organs, keyboards, and drums.”
Twice Academy Award®-nominated and EMMY winning composer and pianist Nicholas Britell scores feature in some of the most acclaimed film projects in recent history, including “If Beale Street Could Talk” “Vice,” “Moonlight,” “The Big Short” and most recently “The King.” For television, Britell has written the score for Jenkins’ “The Underground Railroad” and also scores the HBO series “Succession,” winning an Emmy® for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme. He is currently scoring the third season of “Succession” and Adam McKay’s “Don’t Look Up.”
Academy Award® winner Emma Stone (“La La Land”) stars in Disney’s “Cruella,” an all-new live action feature film about the rebellious early days of one of cinemas most notorious – and notoriously fashionable – villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. “Cruella,” which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute, played by two-time Oscar® winner Emma Thompson (“Howards End,” “Sense and Sensibility”). But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella.
“Cruella” stars Emma Stone, Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Mark Strong. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie, with screenplay by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara, story by Aline Brosh McKenna and Kelly Marcel & Steve Zissis, based upon the novel “The One Hundred and One Dalmatians” by Dodie Smith. “Cruella” is produced by Andrew Gunn, Marc Platt and Kristin Burr, p.g.a., with Emma Stone, Michelle Wright, Jared LeBoff and Glenn Close serving as executive producers.

Live-Action ‘The Lion King’ Sequel Casting Call Hints at New Characters and Backstory. Whether you loved or hated the live-action ‘The Lion King’ remake, there is no denying the film was a roaring success at the box office. So much so, that Disney wasted no time announcing a sequel was in development for the studio.
Now, according to scooper, Daniel Richtman, a new casting call will be looking for young actors between the ages of 8 and 13 to voice young Mufasa and Scar in the sequel.
Reportedly the new film will follow Mufasa’s origin story as well as progressing the story of Simba and his family. Director Barry Jenkins will replace Jon Favreau as director for the sequel as Favreau is focused on the development of other films for Disney as well as the Star Wars The Mandalorian series on Disney+.
“Helping my sister raise two young boys during the ’90s, I grew up with these characters,” Jenkins shares. “Having the opportunity to work with Disney on expanding this magnificent tale of friendship, love and legacy while furthering my work chronicling the lives and souls of folk within the African diaspora is a dream come true.”
Disney has yet to share if the original cast, including Donald Glover, Beyoncé, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, James Earl Jones, John Oliver, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Eric Andre, Amy Sedaris, Florence Kasumba, and Chance the Rapper, will return for the sequel. Jeff Nathanson (The Lion King 2019) will return to pen the script for the sequel, with Barry Jenkins acting as director for the sequel.

How adorable are these Eeyore Cupcake Cones! They are too cute to eat!
If you like Winnie the Pooh, specially Eeyore, then you will love this little treat. Making it is super easy and all the family can help, just take a look at the recipe from Disney Family:
Prepare egg yolk batter by whisking the egg yolks and sugar together until the sugar melts. Then add in vanilla extract, oil, milk, and salt. Mix well. Sift in cake flour and mix well.
Then prepare egg white meringue by whisking the egg white with cream of tartar for 1 minute, then gradually pour in sugar and continue to whisk until firm peaks form.
Scoop out 5 teaspoons of egg yolk batter and 10 tablespoons of egg white meringue. Gently fold them together. Then scoop out 2 teaspoons of egg yolk batter, add in pink food coloring, and gently fold in 4 tablespoons of egg white meringue.
Add in violet food coloring to the remaining egg yolk batter. Gently fold in the remaining meringue. Then scoop batter into dome molds (they should be a little bigger then the ice cream cone opening).
Bake at 300F for 15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cakes cool down completely before removing them from the mold.
Use white cake to cut out Eeyore’s face. Use icing to attach onto the cake. Then use a knife to make indentations onto Eeyore’s face.
Use melted milk chocolate to draw Eeyore’s features. Place the chocolate in a zip-top bag, cut a small hole, pipe on parchment paper, leave in fridge to harden, and then peel off. Use icing to attach onto the cake.
To make Eeyore’s ears, use a knife to cut the violet and pink cake into slices. Then use a pair of scissors to cut out ears. Use a knife to make cuts where the ears should be, then dip the ends with a little icing before inserting in.
Coat rim of ice cream cone with melted chocolate before coating with sprinkles. Place cake in cone and serve immediately.
Hamilton, Lion King and Aladdin Returning to Broadway in September 2021. Theater lovers have been eagerly awaiting news on the reopening of Broadway, especially after New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo shared COVID restrictions will begin being lifted in the next few weeks.
Broadway Hit Shows The Lion King, Hamilton, and Aladdin have announced re-opening dates and ticket sale information for September 14, 2021. Other shows looking to raise curtains in September include The Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, American Utopia, Come From Away and Wicked.
The Lion King returns to Broadway’s Minskoff Theater on September 14, 2021 while Aladdin resumes performances at Broadway’s glorious New Amsterdam Theater on September 28, 2021. Tickets are on sale now. Visit disneyonbroadway.com for tickets and information.
As Disney on Broadway returns, it introduces a suite of added benefits that offers guests a flexibility unprecedented in Broadway history.
These benefits, created with the guest experience in mind, include Disney paying 100% of Ticketmaster service and order fees; the freedom to exchange or even cancel tickets at no charge up to and including the day of performance; and Double the Magic, a two-show package, which offers the greatest savings with tickets for both shows starting at $149 total. Broadway has traditionally offered its customers only two purchase models: advance purchase, ensuring performance date and seat location but offering no flexibility when plans change; or last-minute options such as TKTS or show lotteries, which offer greater value but preclude advance planning. Disney on Broadwayoffers far greater flexibility, combining the best of both models for the first time ever.
“After 18 months of being apart we are thrilled to welcome our audiences back and are proud to introduce these unique benefits to make buying Broadway tickets risk-free, flexible and affordable,” said Thomas Schumacher President & Producer Disney Theatrical Productions. “Broadway’s reopening – before tourists fully return – will be the perfect time for us tri-staters to attend Broadway as shows will be more accessible than ever.”
The September 14th return of Broadway – kicked off by Hamilton, The Lion King and Wicked – was announced this morning in a joint appearance on ‘Good Morning America.’ This rare alliance between Broadway’s three highest profile hits sends a message that Broadway is united in its commitment to ending a devastating period of hardship for the tens of thousands who make their living directly on Broadway shows and the tens of thousands in dependent industries.
Beyond Broadway, the North American tours of The Lion KingandFrozen and international productions of five titles will be among the 20+ Disney Theatrical productions resuming performances in nine countries on four continents in 2021.
The New Amsterdam and Minskoff Theatres will follow New York State and CDC guidelines to ensure the safety of all actors, production staff, theatre employees, and audience members. As public health conditions and the State’s guidance for performing arts and live entertainment changes, the theatre will remain flexible and adapt to applicable health protocols, such as face coverings, health screening, enhanced air filtration and ventilation, and rigorous cleaning and disinfection. For information on safety protocols at The Minskoff Theatre visit lionking.guide. For information on safety protocols at The New Amsterdam Theatre visit aladdin.guide.

Production has begun on Disney Junior’s “Alice’s Wonderland Bakery,” a fantastical animated series for preschoolers and their families inspired by the beloved world of “Alice in Wonderland.” Slated to debut in 2022, the series centers on Alice, the great-granddaughter of the original heroine and a budding young baker at the enchanted Wonderland Bakery, where treats bring a new generation of characters together. The announcement was made today by Joe D’Ambrosia, senior vice president, Original Programming, and general manager, Disney Junior.
“The magic and mischief of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ has been treasured by millions for over a century, and we are delighted to introduce this version of a young Alice and her charming friends to a whole new generation,” D’Ambrosia said. “Inspired by the sense of connection that food brings about—and recipes filled with enchantment and heart—the series will showcase whimsical stories with relatable themes for our Disney Junior audience.”
Geared to kids ages 2-7 and their families, each episode will feature two 11-minute stories about Alice’s recipe adventures with her best pals—Fergie, a white rabbit; Hattie, her madcap friend; and Rosa, the Princess of Hearts. The series will celebrate the culture and creativity of food, highlight self-expression and impart age-appropriate social and emotional lessons about friendship, collaboration and community.
Emmy® nominee Chelsea Beyl (Peabody Award-winning “Doc McStuffins”) serves as executive producer. Frank Montagna (“Elena of Avalor”) is co-executive producer and art director, and Emmy-nominated Nathan Chew (“Elena of Avalor”) is supervising director. Emmy winner John Kavanaugh (“Sofia the First”) is the songwriter/music director, and Matthew Margeson (“Rocketman”) serves as a composer. The series is a production of Disney Television Animation.
Recently the Snow White updatemade headlines when some people started to complain about the True Love Kiss scene when Disneyland reopened at the end of April.
For those not keeping up with the news, Disney fell under fire last week for adding that scene to the ride. Those criticizing the scene believe it shouldn’t have been added because Snow White could not consent to being kissed. Acts of physical contact are often considered nonconsensual when one or more parties is asleep, inebriated, or otherwise not of sound mind.
You can see our first look at Snow White’s Enchanted Wish below:
Recently Disney Imagineer Jim Shull commented on the change to this beloved attraction on his twitter account.
Many European fairy tales were published over 200 years ago with an expressed purpose to both entertain and educate. Reading books was a valued public occupation. #storytelling
In a version of the German fairy tale Schneeweibchen (Snow White), the comatose young woman is revived when one of the prince’s servants drops her body which dislodges the poisoned apple from her throat and the prince didn’t kiss her. #Disney#SnowWhitepic.twitter.com/V9r1LQfsWJ
“Allowing for the fact that cultural changes occur over decades it must be acknowledged that in the context of the tale on which the film is based that the ride is accurate.”
I think Disney Fans are having more fun with creating Disney Memes of the Snow White Scene and are less enraged over the new scene.
