Mouseketeers Alumni are on hand for Downtown Disney’s World of Disney Reopening! Guests at Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort were able to attend the grand reopening of World of Disney, the ultimate Disney Merchandise location. Both stores, one at Disney Springs in Orlando, FL, the other in Downtown Disney in Anaheim, CA, have been under refurbishment for months. On Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, the location in Downtown Disney, in Anaheim, CA, reopened with a few folks you may recognize. Some former Mouseketeers were in attendance for the reopening. Mouseketeers Bobby Burgess, Cubby O’Brien, Sharon Baird, Sherry van Meter, and Tommy Cole made an appearance.
“It’s an honor to be a part of this wonderful opening,” said Sherry van Meter (née Alberoni). “It’s exciting, it’s so nice to see so many fans; people that the Mickey Mouse Club meant so much to. I think [the ‘Mickey Mouse Club’ collection] is terrific and beautiful. Everything is in such good taste and such good quality. I love it!”
Showcased in the newly refurbished store was some new Disney Merchandise inspired by the “Mickey Mouse Club.” Shortly after the opening of Disneyland Resort, “Mickey Mouse Club” aired for the first time. “Mickey Mouse Club” was an hour-long television show that starred a friendly cast of children called “Mouseketeers” who wore iconic sweaters embroidered with their names and a pair of Mickey Ears. The series ran an impressive 41 years from 1955 to 1996. Classic Disney fans will enjoy this Mickey centered merchandise for the club that’s made for you and me.
Joining the “Mickey Mouse Club” collection are several other collections of select merchandise that have added to the store as well, including new holiday merchandise. Check them out at both World of Disney locations in Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort and in World of Disney at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort.
