Sweet New Lollipop Minnie Ears Heading To Disney Parks Soon

Lollipop Minnie Ears

Sweet New Lollipop Minnie Ears Heading To Disney Parks Soon

Lots of sweet things are heading to the Disney Parks this Spring! One of the deliciously cute items I’m most excited about are the tasty looking Lollipop Minnie Ears. These vibrant new ears are a fun twist on Minnie ears continuing the snack inspired style trend.

Sweet New Lollipop Minnie Ears Heading To Disney Parks Soon

These ears are vibrant and whimsical, with lots of little details that make them stand out. The ears are created to look like the giant rolled candy pops we all know and love from our childhood. With sunshine yellow, grape purple, deep pinks, and aqua candy stripes all rolled together, it’ll be hard to resist trying to taste them! The bow isn’t a traditional Minnie bow either! It looks like a hard candy tied up in a glittery wrapping! These ears join the Mickey Ice Cream Bar, and Minnie Donut Ears in the continuing popularity of Disney Snack inspired apparel and accessories!

Other fun ears are also coming to the Disney Parks this Spring too! Be sure to also look for  it’s a small world, and Disney Castle Minnie Ears that will also be joining a whole array of new Spring Merchandise coming to the Disney Parks soon.

Will you be adding these deliciously adorable new Lollipop Minnie Ears to your collection?

Reusable Bags Available Now at Hollywood Studios

Reusable Bags Available Now at Hollywood Studios

Reusable Bags Available Now at Hollywood Studios

As previously reported, reusable bags are arriving at the Disney parks, replacing the traditional plastic bags. So far, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios have debuted the new reusable bags.

Disney is committed to reducing its footprint and is dedicated to omitting single-use items in the parks. One of the biggest areas impacted is plastic bags. I can’t even begin to imagine how many plastic bags are used daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly on Disney property. I’m guilty of bringing home and saving as many Disney plastic bags as possible. Why? I don’t know. I just can’t seem to part with them! Are you guilty too?

Reusable Bags Available Now at Hollywood Studios

The reusable bags at Hollywood Studios are available in three sizes. The red and white handy bags feature popular attractions around the park. One side shows off the heart racing Tower of Terror with fireworks in the background. The other side features toy soldiers parachuting in, along with an AT-AT Walker from Star Tours.

If you’re needing to purchase a bag to bring your souvenirs home, they’re reasonably priced.

Bag Prices:

Small – $ 1.00

Medium – $1.50

Large – $2.00

While some will view it as another way for Disney to make money from its guests, it’s important to Disney to help reduce waste around the parks. I’m a sucker for reusable bags. There’s no such thing as too many reusable bags at my house. These are terrific souvenirs to remember your vacation and have many great ways to re-use them. What’s your favorite way to re-use the bags? Lastly, what else would you like to see Disney change? Silverware, straws, or anything else?

FastPass+ Restrictions Coming to Walt Disney World

Fastpass

FastPass+ Restrictions Coming to Walt Disney World

One of the biggest perks of staying on property at a Walt Disney World is the benefit of the 60-day booking window for FastPass+ reservations. Those who have park only tickets are only able to book 30 days out. Disney has found a way guests are abusing this program, giving some an unfair advantage on those coveted hard to get reservations. Hold on to your Mickey ears, come the beginning of February, a new policy will be set in place to stop the abuse.

Disney has found an alarming number of guests who have been booking room packages to take advantage of the 60-day window, only to cancel their resort hotel room once they are able to book their FastPass+ reservation. This created a “loophole” allowing the guest to keep those hard to get FastPass+ picks ahead of others.

Now, guests who cancel their room reservations will have their FastPass+ reservations canceled as well.  This new policy would immediately also cancel their FastPass+ reservations when their resort rooms are canceled. These guests would have to re-book the reservations once their 30-day window opened for their park only tickets.

This new policy would benefit those who book reservations on property at the Walt Disney World Resorts keeping that extra privilege just for resort guests. What do you think of this change? How will it affect your next trip to Walt Disney World?

TRON Construction Continues to Progress

Tron Construction Continues to Progress

Tron Construction Continues to Progress

Construction continues to progress in Magic Kingdom at the site of the newest indoor roller coaster, TRON.  TRON Lightcycle Power Run will be in Tomorrowland between the Tomorrowland Speedway and Space Mountain in a completely new area.  As long as construction stays on track, Tron will open in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021.

Tron Construction Continues to Progress

Currently, TRON, located at Disneyland in Shanghai (which opened in 2016) is one of the most thrilling and popular attractions at any of the Disney parks. TRON is a coaster style attraction where riders board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles.  Once onboard guests will race through the digital frontier. It’s believed that the Walt Disney World version will be the same as Shanghai.

Tron Construction Continues to Progress

To make room for TRON, a couple of classic attractions needed to close temporarily. The Walt Disney World Railroad closed in December 2018. The train is currently parked at the Main Street Station, allowing guests an up-close look at the train. There is no word from Disney yet as to when the train will begin running the Grand Circle Tours. For now, take advantage of the train and some great photo opportunities.

Tron Construction Continues to Progress

The Tomorrowland Speedway recently closed as well.  Adjustments are being made to the tracks to make room for TRON construction. It will reopen as the same attraction in the summer of 2019. We will continue to update the progress on TRON and other attractions under construction as well. I have a feeling TRON will be just as popular in Walt Disney World as it is in Shanghai. Disney certainly has a lot of updates and plans in the works to be completed in time for the 50th anniversary! It’s a year you won’t want to miss!

From History to Art to So Much More, Festival of the Arts Seminars Cover a Variety of Topics

From History to Art to So Much More, Festival of the Arts Seminars Cover a Variety of Topics

The Epcot International Festival of the Arts is in full swing at Epcot. We have come to expect a variety of high-quality offerings with the seasonal festivals at Epcot and Festival of the Arts is no exception, and it does not disappoint. The event celebrates all of the arts including culinary, performing, and visual through dining, live performances, galleries, and seminars.

Throughout the festival, there are 30-minute daily seminars. Many of the seminars give us a glimpse into the past covering different aspects of Disney History. Others sessions treat our senses with music and visual art. Or, perhaps learn a new skill such as artful watermelon carving and how to create a pop-up book.

Recently, Jeff Kurtii was the speaker at the seminar Travels with Walt Disney: A Photographic Voyage Around the World. Kurtii is an author and Disney Historian. He spoke about his new book, Travels with Walt. The book is a photo album featuring images of Walt Disney’s travels around the world. The book contains many photos that are rare and even ones that have never been seen. One, in particular, is of Walt and Lillian on their Honeymoon. The photo is from Mt. Ranier National Park in Washington State. Kurti discusses his presentation and the seminars in a video.

The seminars are free of charge with your park admission. The sessions are held from 11:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Odyssey Festival Showplace.  Not sure if your schedule will allow you to attend a specific session or not? No worries, you do not need to sign up in advance. The seminars are ongoing through the end of the festival on February 25, 2019.

Disneyland Closes Early Due to Rain

Disneyland Closes Early Due to Rain

Disneyland has had some harsh weather this fall and winter. Today guests received a notification on the Disneyland Park app stating operation hours at the Disneyland Park have been adjusted to 8 am to 10 pm and Disney’s California Adventure Park hours will remain 8 am to 10 pm.

Our Disneyland correspondent Eric said today was rain boot weather at the park. This weather is completely out of the ordinary for Southern California.

Sesame Place Is The First Theme Park Designated As A Certified Autism Center

Sesame Place Is The First Theme Park Designated As A Certified Autism Center

Sesame Place is a theme park located in Langhorne, Pennsylvania based on the children’s educational show Sesame Street.  It is here that you can meet classic Sesame Street characters (including Elmo!), take a stroll down Sesame Street, experience rides themed after your favorite characters, and much more! The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) has designated Sesame Place s the first theme park in the world as a Certified Autism Center. IBCCES is a global leader in online training and certification programs.

To achieve this certification, Sesame Place Team Members must receive specialized training in the following areas:

  • Sensory Awareness
  • Motor Skills
  • Autism Overview
  • Program Development
  • Social Skills
  • Communication
  • Environment
  • Emotional Awareness

There is even an IBCCES Sensory Guide which can be downloaded HERE.  This guide provides insight on how a child may process each of the rides and attractions found at the theme park.

Sesame Place Is The First Theme Park Designated As A Certified Autism Center

Sesame Place also offers a Special Access Program.  This program allows priority boarding on up to six dry rides and up to three water slides.  The choices of water slides include Slimey’s Chutes, Sky Splash, Sesame Streak, and Slippery Slopes. Big Bird’s Rambling River is also applicable to the Special Access Pass. To be enrolled in the Special Access Program you must first apply for the Rider Accessibility Program.  Simply fill out a questionnaire and return it to The Welcome Center.

Sesame Place also provides relief from sensory stimulation if needed.  There are now two quiet rooms that are located near Big Bird’s Rambling River that can be utilized.  The rooms include adjustable lighting as well as a comfortable seating area.

Sesame Place will also be offering WhispEars.  WhispEars are noise-canceling headphones that have been provided by KidCo.  Both The Family Care Center and The Welcome Center can provide these.  They are available on a first come, first serve basis.  Remember to return these by the end of the day!

The area behind the Sesame Street Neighborhood is a low sensory area.  There is also an area located by the Twiddle Bug Tracks, next to Ernie’s Teeny Tiny Tidal Wave. While not designated quiet areas, they are generally less crowded than the rest of the park. (I can attest to this being true!  These are my favorite places to take a break.)

Direct character interaction during parade viewing can be avoided.  Guests can watch the parade where it begins and/or several rows behind the parade viewing line.  Character dine interaction can also be limited when requested.

Sesame Place Is The First Theme Park Designated As A Certified Autism Center

Finally, Julia is the newest addition to Sesame Place.  123 Smile with Me! is where she can be found.  Julia is a sweet and curious 4-year-old with autism.  I had the opportunity to meet her this past season and she really is sweet.
