We are just a few weeks away from the premiere of Captain Marvel! In the build-up to the release of the film, there’s one new character that fans can’t wait to see on the big screen – Goose the cat!
Captain Marvel tells the story of Carol Danvers, a fighter pilot turned superhero. Carol’s cat is named Goose, in homage of the classic film Top Gun, that features a pair of pilots named Maverick and Goose.
The adorable orange tabby cat even has his own character poster promoting the film in theatres everywhere and was featured in the film’s trailer.
Goose was actually played by 4 different cat actors for the movie. Reggie, Gonzo, Archie, and Rizzo took turns during filming, performing tricks and hitting their marks. Executive producer Jonathan Schwartz noted, “I learned all about cats during the course of this movie. One of them is the face cat, a pretty cat—that’s Reggie. One of them is the holding cat, who only can be held. One of them is the nuzzling cat who will walk up to your leg and nuzzle it. And one of them is the cat who will paw you.”
We don’t know yet if Goose plays a critical role in the film, or if he holds any secret talents. We’ll have to wait until the cat’s out of the bag on March 8th.
