New Disney Patent Filed for New Roller Coaster Technology

Disney filed patents for an all-new roller coaster and all new technology! It is described as a “Roller Coaster with Passenger Compartment Motion Powered Through Stored Onboard Energy” “The ride would be rolling under gravity along a track defining a ride path. Includes a chassis coupled to the track to roll on one or more surfaces of the track.” -US Patent Office

This could mean the addition of a whole new coaster at the Disney Parks or an upgrade to current rides within an existing park.

Chip and Company brought you the news of venues closing at the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland. One Starbucks location closed, as did the ESPN Zone, Earl of Sandwich and AMC Theaters. The closures were ahead of Disney’s plans to build a new 700-room luxury hotel.

Disney has now scrapped the plans due to an issue with tax rebates from the City of Anaheim. The Earl of Sandwich restaurant has since reopened, but no other venues have yet to do the same.

However, per the Orange County Register, Landry’s–the owner of Rainforest Café–says they want to reopen the animal-themed restaurant at Downtown Disney. They further shared that Disney is aware of their desire to operate Rainforest Café again.

Disney officials have said there are currently no conversations about Rainforest Café returning to the Downtown Disney shopping and entertainment district, and that they cannot comment on discussions with their tenants.

Disney Posts the First Job Opening for the Skyliner System

Walt Disney World has posted the first job opportunity related to the new Disney Skyliner aerial gondola system.

Though the Skyliner isn’t slated to open until sometime next year, Disney World is accepting applications for the position of Senior Transportation Engineer. This person will be responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the new Skyliner aerial lift system. The position also requires knowing and being in compliance with all regulatory requirements related to the system. The Senior Transportation Engineer will also act as the team leader for between 40 and 50 mechanics. He or she will also play a big role in technical leadership, working directly on troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repairs. Communication with the team is vital to this role.

The Disney Skyliner is an all-new aerial gondola system. The Skyliner will serve as a means of transportation between EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation and Pop Century Resorts. Construction began in January of 2018. At this time, Disney plans to have the new gondola system completed and operational possibly as early as late spring 2019.

So even if you’re not the right fit for the Engineering position, you’ll still get to enjoy the Skyliner and get a bird’s-eye view of the parks once it’s open!

Christmas has arrived at World of Disney in Disney Springs! In July we brought you a sneak preview of the Disney Holiday Merchandise for the Disney Parks, but that was just a taste! The beautiful Disney Parks Christmas collection has arrived, and we’re giddy with excitement.

There is so many stunning designs, it’s hard to choose where to begin. Well, maybe not SO hard, because look, new Christmas Minnie ears!!! So far there are two dazzling pairs to choose from. The first is an update on the Ugly Sweater inspired ears from last year. This year they have black puffs, and a black, red, and white sweater bow design. The second pair is a stunning set I’ve been dreaming about since I got to try them on back in July, the Red Velvet Christmas ears. These stunning ears are a velvety red with shimmery snowflakes stitched onto them, and topped off with a sequined bow in a cheerful green. When I saw these ears are amazing, I mean they are REALLY amazing. There will also be a plaid pair available again this year too.

Another popular item we all love are Spirit Jerseys! There are two new holiday jerseys out, and both go perfectly with the new ears that were released too! There is also a white sweatshirt that says “Magical”, and the “A” is made with a Chritmasy Disney castle! I’m not melting, you’re melting!

Why Halloween Time is the Best at Disneyland – Have you wondered what the best time of year is, to plan a trip to Disneyland? Well, a cast member shares their favorite. Halloween of course!

Halloween arrived at Disneyland September 7th and runs through October 31st. Plenty of time for you to enjoy all the fall delights and Not-So-Scary fun at the park. Favorite experiences are transformed into festive frights sure to bring a smile.

Every inch of the park is magically made over – attractions, decor, characters in their Halloween best. Happy haunts and treats are around every corner.

Just two weeks remain of this spooktacular season. Take a look at the video below with Disneyland Resort cast members as they share their love of the season. Then get to planning a wickedly good time at the happiest place on earth.

When the calendar changes and October 31 is come and gone, all the fall splendor and ghoulish glory will vanish just like the ghosts in the Haunted Mansion!

Joshua Bassett Cast as Lead in New High School Musical Series

The lead in the upcoming “High School Musical: The Musical” series has been cast, and Joshua Bassett is the guy. Disney’s upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming service, which is set to launch in late 2019, will be the home of this 10-episode series. It is based on the iconic Emmy^® Award-winning “High School Musical” franchise and will be filmed in Salt Lake City, Utah, in a single camera documentary style.

Bassett plays Ricky, a dashing high school junior who launches a plan to win back his ex-girlfriend Nini by auditioning to star opposite her in the school’s production of “High School Musical.”

“Joshua’s interpretation of the Ricky character was brilliant – funny, winning and, at the same time, uniquely vulnerable. The audience is going to love watching this charismatic young actor put his stamp on this next chapter of the ‘High School Musical’ franchise” said Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide.

The story follows as a group of high school students who stage a performance of “High School Musical” for their fall theater production, only to realize that as much drama happens offstage as onstage. Every episode will include a new rendition of a beloved song from “High School Musical” as well as an original song.

Bassett said, “As someone whose childhood was shaped by the cultural phenomenon that is ‘High School Musical,’ I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to tell this story. Go Wildcats!”

A native of Oceanside, California, 17-year-old Bassett is an actor, singer, dancer, and guitarist. Since age seven, he has performed in over 30 musical theater productions and had roles in several commercials and television series, including a recurring role in Disney Channel‘s “Stuck in the Middle” and a guest starring role in the upcoming crime anthology “Dirty John” for Bravo.

“High School Musical: The Musical” is executive produced by novelist, former Broadway performer, and Golden Globe^® and Academy Award^®-nominated screenwriter, Tim Federle (“Ferdinand”), as well as Emmy Award-nominated producer Oliver Goldstick (“Pretty Little Liars,” “Ugly Betty”), who also serves as showrunner. Emmy Award-winning “High School Musical” executive producers Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush are also set to executive produce the series.

The Mickey tombstone cupcake has a classic yellow cake, and then, it is filled with a pumpkin mousse. The ghostly graveyard scene comes together with glitter cinnamon buttercream, edible tombstone, and a fondant pumpkin. For $5.99 or one snack credit on the Disney dining plan, it is the ideal addition for any of your favorite Starbucks drinks or as a post-pizza dessert.

Disney Conservation Fund Donates $5 Million to Conservation Organizations

For over 20 years The Walt Disney Company remains focused on their commitment to environmental stewardship through the Disney Conservation Fund.

Recently the Disney Conservation Fund, or DCF, awarded more than a total of $5 million in grant money to support at least 76 organizations that work to protect endangered species, inspire conservation action, and perform field research from all over the world. One such organization, a Florida-based organization, received approximately $782,000 in order to continue their efforts for academic research, wildlife conservation, and habitat restoration.

The fund also awarded 13 people from all parts of the world with the “Disney Conservation Hero” award. This award recognizes their commitment to saving wildlife and promoting conservation efforts.

One such grant recipient is the International Rhino Foundation, or IFR, which works to save the critically endangered Sumatran rhinos from extinction in Indonesia. Unfortunately, there are only about 80 Sumatran rhinos left in the wild. IRF aims at addressing threats to this species throughout Indonesian communities in hope to inspire protection of their habitat.

One of the Disney Conservation Hero recipients, IRF employee Sumadi Hasmaran, was recognized for his leadership in the establishment and management of the 250-acre breeding and research facility, the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary (SRS). While overseeing the construction of the facility he also sought out nearby communities by offering employment and other livelihood opportunities. The sanctuary was pleased to announce the first 2 Sumatran rhino calves born in Asia in more than a staggering 140 years thanks to Sumadi’s efforts and dedication.

This effort is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to conservation. Other conservation efforts around the world have helped protect more than 400 species.

Although The Walt Disney Company primarily funds the DCF it also receives contributions from guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom, other select Walt Disney World Resort location, Disney Vacation Club resorts, or when sailing with Disney Cruise Line.

Just remember, the next time you visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom and are asked if you would like to make a donation to the Disney Conservation Fund while purchasing that long-awaited souvenir you will also be a part of the conservation.

Spooky treats abound at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Get ready to sink your teeth into each of these frightfully delicious treats!

At Rosie’s All-American Café, ABC Commissary be sure to try the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Coffin Cake. It’s a coffin shaped cake with layers of peanut butter and chocolate and topped with Chocolate Ganache. While you’re there check out the Chocolate and Orange Cream Parfait too. Layers of orange cream and chocolate cake topped with creepy crawly gummy worms and a candy jack-o-lantern combine to make a parfait that is truly…well, parfait! Both are available for $4.99.

As of those weren’t enough, head on over to the Trolley Car Café and fall into the delicious seasonal offerings. Try the Chocolate and Caramel Apple- a caramel apple wrapped in Chocolate Ganache! Or check out the Chocolate Cake – topped with [orange] chocolate mousse and chocolate Mickey ears! Pricing information for these treats was not available.

You’ll want to scare up these spook-tacular treats soon though, they are only available until October 31!

Try This Tasty Fall Treat at the Magic Kingdom — Magic Kingdoms #1 Fall Treat

Every fall at Walt Disney World Resort it seems there is another sweet fall treat are around every corner! This year, the crowd favorite at Magic Kingdom is the Candy Corn Milkshake.

An adorable Mickey marshmallow tops sweet cotton candy that melts into the ice cream, sweetening its mild candy corn flavor. This treat will be available at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies through November daily.

As usual, the treats offered at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party are also to die for, check them out here!

2018 Disney Parks Magical Christmas Celebration Taping at Walt Disney World

Formerly known as the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade the Disney Parks Magical Christmas Celebration celebrates the joy of the holiday season.

Disney takes viewers on a magical ride down Main Street, U.S.A. and beyond. The 2018 Christmas Day Parade celebration will be bringing together the beloved Christmas Day parade, magical musical performances, surprise celebrity guests and heartwarming family stories to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.

As we inch ever closer to the Christmas Season, a question a lot of guests want to know is when Disney and ABC will be filming the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade that is shot in Walt Disney World & Disneyland?

Great news! Disney will be doing their taping at Walt Disney World on November 7th through the 11th.

Like last year Disney will be taping their stage shows and musical acts at Walt Disney World and the parade at the Disneyland Resort in California. Right now no official dates have been released for Disneyland.

No ticket information has been released at this time. As soon as we get more info we will post it!
