SeaWorld Parks Will No Longer Serve Foam Bowls or Plates

Seaworld

SeaWorld Parks Will No Longer Serve Foam Bowls or Plates

SeaWorld Parks Will No Longer Serve Foam Bowls or Plates. As part of conservation efforts by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment the company has decided to remove all foam plates, trays, and bowls from their 12 theme parks around the world.

Andrew Ngo, Vice President of SeaWorld, stated that reducing the company’s enviormental footprint is an important part of the company’s mission. This effort alone should keep about 14 million polysterene foam food dishes from being throw away each year.

Another reason for the decision was to help with recycling efforts since polysterene is rather hard to recycle and does not decompose easily. An alternative to the theme parks dinging dishes has not been announced yet, but will more than likely be a plant based product that can be safely decompose or recycled when disposed by guests, but sturdy enough for use and storage.

SeaWorld Parks Will No Longer Serve Foam Bowls or Plates

This is not the first conservation effort made by SeaWorld when it comes to food and beverages served in their theme parks. SeaWorld has already removed the use of plastic straws and coffee stirrers to prevent them from polluting oceans, rivers, waterways, etc.

We love seeing our favorite parks leading the way to healthier enviormental impacts by global businesses and setting a great example for owning the ability to change for the better. Hopefully other parks and entertainment locations follow suit with efforts of there own.

Construction on Bay 3 at Cosmic Ray’s is Completed

Construction on Bay 3 at Cosmic Ray’s is Completed

Construction on Bay 3 at Cosmic Ray’s is Completed

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, one of the more popular quick-service restaurants, has been under partial construction for some time now. We can now confirm that the purple walls are down, and Bay 3 is now open again.

Construction on Bay 3 at Cosmic Ray’s is Completed

Cosmic Ray’s never completely closed. Work was completed in phases to allow visitors to still eat at the restaurant. Included in the project are new floors. Gone are the days of the sparkly and bright purple and blue floors. New black, white, and gray floor were installed as well as a fresh coat of paint.

Construction on Bay 3 at Cosmic Ray’s is Completed

Construction started with Bay 2 which was completed almost a month ago. Bay 1 was next on the list, and just reopened a little bit ago. Last up was Bay 3.  Besides the bays getting a facelift, the dining room was under construction as well. With the dining room under construction, that meant fan favorite Sonny Eclipse wasn’t available for concerts. Good news, with the completion of the dining room, Sonny has returned from vacation and is performing his classic hits again.

The new floors and a fresh coat of paint along with other minor enhancements look great.

Construction on Bay 3 at Cosmic Ray’s is Completed Construction on Bay 3 at Cosmic Ray’s is Completed

Cosmic Rays is a great quick service option. While in Magic Kingdom, take advantage of the mobile ordering in your My Disney Experience App. Save yourself from having to join the crowds inside waiting to order. Once you’ve placed your order, wait for the notification that it’s ready for pick-up. Follow the signs to the mobile order pick-up window and grab your meal. It’s as simple as that.

Most people probably have never had a good look at the old flooring. Cosmic Ray’s is always busy. I can personally tell you, that the flooring is the last thing I look at when I’m trying to navigate the crowds and not drop my tray of food. I do think the new color scheme updates the restaurant and fits well with the Tomorrowland look and feel.

Want to visit Cosmic Rays and check out the remodel? I can help with that. As a travel planner with Key to the World Travel, the official travel partner for Chip and Company, I can help you with all Disney Destinations, Universal Orlando, Cruises, and more!  Best of all, my services are FREE to you! Bob Iger’s Salary is Being Amended

Bob Iger's Salary is Being Amended

In January, The Walt Disney Company announced CEO Bob Iger’s compensation package for 2018. Just before the shareholder meeting, Iger’s salary has been amended with changes to his base salary and bonus. Overall, Iger will see a reduction in his total compensation with both his base pay and bonus dropping.

Disney shareholders will gather this  Thursday at the Company’s annual meeting. One notable change the shareholders will see is a drop in Bob Iger’s salary. The Hollywood Reporter revealed the changes Monday after the top executive’s salary amendment was revealed Monday in an SEC 8-K filing. The amendment detailed a $500,000 reduction in Iger’s base pay dropping the total pay to $3 million. Iger’s $8 million increase in his annual target bonus has also been removed. His annual target bonus of $12 million will remain.

In a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, Iger said, “I am proud to be leading The Walt Disney Company through this important time and believe the changes I, with the board, have made are in the best interest of the company.”

Iger’s total salary for 2016 came in at $43.9 million, in 2017 the top executive earned $36.3 million. In 2018, the executives reported total salary came in at $65.6 million reflecting the 80 percent raise that was originally reported.  Iger has spent considerable time recently working on the massive 21st Century Fox deal where Disney ended up paying $71.3 billion to acquire the media giant. Iger’s initial salary was established in December of 2017 just after the 21st Century Fox deal was announced.

The total reduction is a reported $13.5 million between his base salary and the bonus.

Permits Filed For Entrance Changes to Epcot

Permits Filed For Entrance Changes to Epcot

Permits have been filed in Orange County in relation to the overhaul of the entrance area to Epcot.  “Project G” calls for “Enabling Works at North Pathways, including sitework, demo, hardscape, landscaping”.

Given the information and concept drawings for the new entrance area, it’s likely that the permits are in reference to this project.  Permits are typically filed just prior to work beginning, so we expect the project to be underway in the near future.  There’s no completion date listed in the permit, which will then expire as this time next year.

As reported earlier, part of the renovations will include moving the Leave a Legacy monuments to an alternative site and installing more greenery and walkways in the entrance courtyard.  A reimagined fountain will take center stage in front of Spaceship Earth as well.

Permits Filed For Entrance Changes to Epcot

Other Epcot Projects

The initial announcement of the changes coming to Epcot also included updates to the space between Spaceship Earth and World Showcase, as well as the addition of a Play Pavilion in the remnants of the Wonders of Life Pavilion.  No mention of any of those spaces in the permits that were filed recently.  Stay tuned for more information as it is announced.

These projects are all expected to be complete for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World in 2021.

Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center Expansion

Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center Expansion

Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center Expansion

Last fall, Disney completed a massive overhaul and expansion at the Convention Center at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort. The newly renovated space now is one of the most desirable venues in Central Florida.

Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center Expansion

The completed convention center now offers nearly 100,000 square feet of meeting and event space. This total includes 28,000 square feet of newly added space. Guests attending meetings and events will enter through the Newport Lobby & Gallery. The newly upgraded entrance contains three pre-event areas for attendees to gather for networking and socializing.

Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center Expansion

Look at the new spaces designed to take your meetings and conventions to another level.

Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center Expansion

The new Newport Ballroom is 16,000 square feet and capable of dividing into eight breakouts. This space is perfect for networking events, ceremonies, general sessions, meetings, and celebrations. Besides adding the new ballroom, the existing space received a refurbishment. The new fresh nautical-themed space received new furniture, carpet, wood floor, wall coverings, and lighting. On top of that, the entire area also received a fresh coat of paint.

Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center Expansion

Every meeting room in the convention center got a makeover. Two new rooms, Seaview Room and Bourne Room, have been transformed into designated meeting planner offices.  This an added convenience for groups planning their events.

Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center Expansion

All of the rooms contain state of the art technology.  Additionally, some of the updates include multiple outlets for charging cell phones, tablets, and laptops. High-capacity internet connectivity and hard-wired services are available in the meeting rooms, ballrooms, and convention foyer.  The entire area gives off a new upgraded look and feels to match the rest of the convention center and resorts.

Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center Expansion

Not only has the convention center been renovated, but guests looking to stay near their meetings can now enjoy one of the more than 1,900 guest rooms. Furthermore, take advantage of the new dining options, including Ale & Compass Restaurant, Ale & Compass Lounge, and The Market at Ale & Compass.

Lastly, the location of the Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center to the parks is superior. You are a short 5-7-minute walk to Epcot and a quick boat ride away from Hollywood Studios. The entire Boardwalk area is one of my favorite areas on the property.  Besides the fantastic resorts and pools, there’s plenty of choices of great restaurants and bars. The convenience of two parks that you don’t have to get on a bus at the start of your day is another added bonus.
