Construction on Bay 3 at Cosmic Ray’s is Completed

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, one of the more popular quick-service restaurants, has been under partial construction for some time now. We can now confirm that the purple walls are down, and Bay 3 is now open again.

Cosmic Ray’s never completely closed. Work was completed in phases to allow visitors to still eat at the restaurant. Included in the project are new floors. Gone are the days of the sparkly and bright purple and blue floors. New black, white, and gray floor were installed as well as a fresh coat of paint.

Construction started with Bay 2 which was completed almost a month ago. Bay 1 was next on the list, and just reopened a little bit ago. Last up was Bay 3.  Besides the bays getting a facelift, the dining room was under construction as well. With the dining room under construction, that meant fan favorite Sonny Eclipse wasn’t available for concerts. Good news, with the completion of the dining room, Sonny has returned from vacation and is performing his classic hits again.

The new floors and a fresh coat of paint along with other minor enhancements look great.

Cosmic Rays is a great quick service option. While in Magic Kingdom, take advantage of the mobile ordering in your My Disney Experience App. Save yourself from having to join the crowds inside waiting to order. Once you’ve placed your order, wait for the notification that it’s ready for pick-up. Follow the signs to the mobile order pick-up window and grab your meal. It’s as simple as that.

Most people probably have never had a good look at the old flooring. Cosmic Ray’s is always busy. I can personally tell you, that the flooring is the last thing I look at when I’m trying to navigate the crowds and not drop my tray of food. I do think the new color scheme updates the restaurant and fits well with the Tomorrowland look and feel.
