Classic Movie Monsters Will Be Featured At Halloween Horror Nights

Classic movie monsters such as Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolf Man have played a prominent role in Universal’s history. While these horrifying creatures may not play such a huge part at Universal currently they are about to be featured prominently at Halloween Horror Nights at both Universal Hollywood and Orlando.

This year, at Universal Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights two monster favorites will take center stage in an all-new maze experience. The maze aptly named “Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man” is designed to delightfully terrify guests. The maze will be somewhat based on the film from 1943 with the same name. While the new experience is reimagined from the original movie it will feature the deadly battle that took place between the two title characters, Frankenstein and the Wolf Man. Prior to the battle event goers will find themselves in terrifying scenes from a creepy cemetery to Moors, to Frankenstein’s castle. The maze will be set to a soundtrack composed by Universal Hollywood and the Grammy award winner electric guitarist, SLASH.

Classic Movie Monsters Will Be Featured At Halloween Horror Nights — On the heels of last year’s successful “Universal Monsters” experience, Universal Studios Hollywood will introduce an all-new horrifying maze, “Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman.”

Universal Orlando’s version of the event will feature a new experience called “Universal Monsters” and guests should prepare themselves to be hunted. All of the Universal monsters will be on hand for this experience where those brave enough will come face to face with some of the most terrifying creatures from the anthology in their natural habitats.

If you dare to attend, these events are held on select nights in September and October. The separately ticketed event is not recommended for those under the age of 13. Universal Orland kicks off this year Halloween Horror Nights on September 6 and Universal Hollywood follows on September 13th. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is Replacing the Lobby Floor.

The Disney’s Art of Animation Resort has recently confirmed the replacement of the entire lobby floor. The resort will be replacing the lobby floor in phases in order to cause the least amount of disruption.

The replacement of Disney’s Art of Animation started yesterday, Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 11:00 pm est. Unfortunately, this project will last for awhile due to its phases and is scheduled to continue until Saturday, September 7, 2019! Overall, this project will occur in 6 phases.

For guests traveling to Disney’s Art of Animation over the next few months, here is what you should know:

Guests traveling via the Magical Express will be welcomed at the bus zone that is currently for Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Hollywood Bus stop will be temporarily relocated to the empty bus load zone at the end of the walkway.
Guests departing via the Magical Express for the airport will continue to board the bus under the Porte Cochere.
Sketch artist times will be from 1:30pm to 3:30pm beginning Monday, April 29, 2019 and will be held in the resort airline check-in location in the back of Animation hall near the drop off pool bar.
Front Office Cast members will be primarily roaming outside and inside Animation Hall.

Fans of all ages can immerse themselves in the history of Mickey at the Pop-Up Disney! A Mickey Celebration event. This unique experience is created to celebrate the legendary mouse that started it all!

Located in the Downtown Disney District, fans can salute the famous icon in imaginatively themed room each with its own vibrant display starting with Steamboat Willie. Each room also double as settings for the perfect photo ops suited for selfies or a family affair.

Guests can end their tour in the Finale Room which illustrates how important Mickey is to the Disneyland Resort by celebrating with fantastic floral arrangements, cupcakes, waffles and an ice cream bar. Guests can also enjoy the display of ears that have appeared around the parks throughout the years.

Karen Gillan Wants to Direct an MCU Film for Marvel Studios. In a recent interview with Variety, Gillan stated she wants to direct a film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as discussed some other topics including her time with Marvel, her co-stars, working on Avengers: Endgame, the excitement to film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and more.

You may know Karen Gillan best as Nebula from the Marvel Films and fans of Doctor Who may recognize her has the Eleventh Doctor’s Companion, Amy (Amelia) Pond. The Marvel and Doctor Who actress is interest in directing a film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for Marvel Studios and says she has even expressed interest to Kevin Feige directly.

“I keep asking Kevin Feige when that’s going to be. I’m still waiting,” she said. She clarifies that she “wouldn’t just do any film,” though. “I think it would need to be one where I had a strong feeling that I was the best person for the job. Obviously that’s not every movie that comes your way,” Gillan said.

One of the other topics in the interview was Karen’s reaction to James Gunn being fired, then rehired by Marvel Studios as director of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Over all she was excited for his return, partly due to how it would directly affect the filming of GotG:V3.

“His personality, the tone of those movies, I can only describe as James’ personality,” she said. “It’s his sense of humor, his writing, his taste in music. These characters are extensions of him. It’s a really personal project for him. It definitely wouldn’t have been the same version of ‘Guardians.’”

When asked about the potential of a Black Widow film Gillan was all for it.

“I think we’re only just starting to get together these female-led superhero movies,” Gillan continued. “It’s kind of a new thing and we’re living in this time of change at the moment. To see ‘Captain Marvel’ do so well, I mean, I was crying in the cinema. So happy that she was smashing it and people were loving it. I think it’s time to see the ‘Black Widow’ movie.”

Maybe Feige and Marvel Studios will consider Gillan for the position as Director for the film? Who knows! We would love to see a film in the MCU directed by Karen and what wonderful stories she could tell.

Disney Celebrates World Wish Day

April 29 is World Wish Day. World Wish Day is a day dedicated to celebrating the inspiring impact a wish come true can have on a child who is battling a critical illness. This year, Walt Disney World Resort is honoring the more than 8,400 wishes granted at its parks and resorts every year. It is also investing $20,000 in Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida to assist in making the dreams of children become a reality.

Approximately half of the children that are eligible for wishes through wish-granting nonprofit organizations in the United States ultimately choose a Disney-inspired wish, which also encompasses visits to Walt Disney World Resort. Walt Disney World Resort lives up to its reputation as the place where dreams come true. This is especially accurate for trips fulfilled through wish-granting organizations, such as Make-A-Wish, for these children and their families.

Rena Langley summarizes the experience of all those involved in making these wishes a reality so eloquently. “Seeing the magic of Disney through the eyes of a wish child is an unforgettable experience. Granting these inspiring wishes at Walt Disney World Resort creates magical memories not only for the families, but also for our Cast Members who help make these special wishes come true.”

The Walt Disney Company actually has partnered with Make-A-Wish starting in 1980. That year, the first official wish kid’s dreams came true at Disneyland Resort. Today Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products, sits on the national board of directors for the organization which further cements the longstanding partnership. All through the years, more than 130,000 Disney-inspired wishes have been granted through Make-A-Wish. This includes visits to the theme parks, Disney cruises, as well as met and greets with beloved Disney celebrities and characters. In fact, one of every two Make-A-Wish wishes in the United States comes true every year in conjunction with the partnership with The Walt Disney Company.

Per Anne Cuba of Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida, “Disney-inspired wishes have long been the most requested among wish kids across the country. Granting a child’s wish is already a magical experience, but folding the Disney magic into it as well makes for an unforgettable, life-changing moment for the child and their family.”

As of today, The Walt Disney Company and Make-A-Wish have joined together once again and have launched the #FriendLikeMe Challenge. In short, Disney will donate $5 up to $1 million to Make-A-Wish to assist in granting life-changing wishes all over the world. Visit FriendLikeMe.org for more information.

Make-A-Wish is not the only foundation The Walt Disney Company supports. Walt Disney World Resort has also supported Give Kids the World Village. It is good to be bad at the upcoming Disney Villains After Hours event at Magic Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World Resort. You too can be chillin’ like a villain on select nights from June 6 through August 8, 2019. Tickets go on sale TODAY, so don’t be like Aurora and sleep on this diabolically fun event.

Like other Walt Disney World After Hours events, you can enjoy complimentary ice cream novelties, popcorn, and select bottled beverages included in the cost of admission. But don’t worry your little black heart, throughout the park you’ll be able to find a variety of specialty food and beverage offerings available for purchase. Offering savory and sweet (or maybe just less evil?) menu items inspired by Maleficent, The Queen, Hades, Cruella de Vil, Dr. Facilier, and even Emperor Zurg. The New Disney Parks Donald Duck Headband Is Quack-tastic

Move over Minnie ears, Donald’s rear is here! I don’t care what anyone says, the feathered behind of the one and only Donald Duck is adorable, and the newest Donald Duck Headband found at the Disney Parks celebrates his cute little bootie too.

The new Donald Duck accessory is a fluffy plush headband that feature’s his cute behind. The white fuzzy headband has two stuffed Donald feet sticking up on each side, and is topped off with a super floofy tail. This headband design reminds me of the ending of Mickey’s Philharmagic when Donald goes through the wall and his tail and legs are dangling out.

This accessory is a continuing a trend we’ve seen of headbands that feature character design elements. Previously we’ve seen the Slinky Dog headband, Sulley headband, and Dumbo headband. Minnie Ears will always be in my heart, but it’s fun seeing other accessory headbands branching out with more than just ears!

Netflix Could Lose Millions of Subscribers to Disney+ According to a Recent Survey

Netflix Could Lose Millions of Subscribers to Disney+ According to a Recent Survey. The Survey was conducted by Streaming Observer and Mindnet Analytics in anticipation of the release of Disney+.

The survey concluded an estimated 8.7 million subscribers may leave Netflix in favor of Disney+, primarily due to the content being more family friendly and beloved by established fans. That 8.7 million makes up just about 14% of all Netflix users.

“While Netflix has been steadily adding more kids content to its library, it’s hard to imagine it can match what Disney offers on this front, which could be a source of concern for the streaming giant,” said the survey.

One of the biggest motivators for switching streaming services is also the cost of the subscription.

Disney+ will only be $6.99/month vs. Netflix’s notoriously rising costs, which currently are rated at:

Basic Plan: $9/month
Standard Plan: $13/month
Premium Plan: $16/month

Before the release of the new streaming service, Netflix is phasing out or has cancelled all Disney related content from their streaming services.

Disney+ will include content from Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Disney-Pixar, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm (Star Wars), National Geographic, ABC, Fox, and more. Almost all pre-existing content will be available starting the moment Disney+ goes live for streaming. Disney+ will also stream their own direct to consumer content including shows and films.

“Disney and Apple add a little bit more, but frankly I doubt it will be material because again there’s already so many competitors for entertainment time,” Netflix founder and Chief Executive Reed Hastings stated during a first quarter earnings report video interview.

Netflix is at least giving the appearance that they are not worried about the release of Disney+, but experts in the industry say it will have a big effect on other streaming services despite their denial.

Fancy Nancy character has arrived at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Fancy Nancy has officially made her appearance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Guests can now meet her at a brand new character location inside the Animation Courtyard.

She will also join other Disney Junior characters such as Doc McStuffins, Vampirina, and Roadster Racer Goofy for the Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine at Hollywood and Vine starting on April 30th.

Disney Junior’s animated show “Fancy Nancy” is based on the adventures of six-year-old Nancy, who adores anything French, extravagant style, and all things fancy. She uses her individuality and self-expression to show how it’s always best to look on the bright side of things.

New Epcot Flower And Garden Festival Collector Coins

My family loves to collect pressed pennies when we visit Disney. Those have been a favorite of many over the years, but recently, there’s a new kid on the block – the commemorative coin.

The latest edition of these is a series of 4 coins honoring the 2019 Epcot Flower & Garden Festival. These collectible coins can only be found at one machine, located in the Odyssey pavilion, serving as the festival center in Epcot.

There are four designs to collect in all, each with a different design and finish.
