Disney+ will be an add on for Hulu Subscribers

Disney+ will be an add on for Hulu Subscribers

Soon Hulu users will be able to add the Disney+ subscription service to their plans according to Hulu’s SVP of Originals Craig Erwich at the Television Critics Association meeting.

He attributed Hulu’s growth in subscribers to the quality of Hulu’s offerings, including add-ons like Live TV and premium services that include HBO and CBS All Access. And coming soon, Disney+.

The service will cost $6.99 a month and $69.99 a year on its own, and we are uncertain what the cost will be as an add-on for Hulu. (Stay tuned)

Presently HBO costs $14.99 on top of the base Hulu rate while Showtime costs $10.99.

Please stay tuned to Chip and Co for more information.

12th Annual Tour De Turtles Underway from Disney’s Vero Beach Resort

12th Annual Tour De Turtles Underway from Disney’s Vero Beach Resort

Earlier today at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, researchers from the Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC) and Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment (ASE) team released two loggerhead sea turtles as part of the 12th annual Tour de Turtles “migration marathon.” Tour de Turtles is a fun, educational journey that follows the migration of sea turtles from their nesting beaches to their feeding ground. Each female loggerhead turtle swims to raise awareness about one of the threats that sea turtles face each day.

Through the use of satellite telemetry, STC will track Ariel and Ursula – named after characters in Disney’s animated film The Little Mermaid – to determine how far the sea turtles swim. The one to swim the furthest distance wins. Ursula is sponsored by the Disney Conservation Fund (DCF) and will swim to raise awareness about the threat of plastic debris. Ariel, co-sponsored by Disney’s Vero Beach Resort and Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment team, will swim to raise awareness about the threat of light pollution.

12th Annual Tour De Turtles Underway from Disney’s Vero Beach Resort

“Disney’s commitment to sea turtle conservation along Vero Beach, one of the most important turtle-nesting habitats in the western hemisphere, goes back more than a decade,” said Mark Penning, Vice President of Disney’s ASE initiatives. “Our Conservation team conducts daily surveys along the nearly five miles of sea turtle nesting beach surrounding Disney’s Vero Beach Resort in order to identify, mark and monitor sea turtle nests, as well as determine the number of sea turtle hatchlings. This helps us ensure the resort continues to be a special place for nesting sea turtles and for the conservation science, protection and outreach needed to ensure their survival.”

The data collected during Tour de Turtles helps researchers, conservationists and governing agencies make more informed decisions about sea turtle conservation methods and policies. Since the launch of the event in 2008, STC and Disney have partnered to study twenty loggerhead sea turtles outfitted with satellite transmitters and released from Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. The Disney Conservation Fund has also directed more than $3.5 million to help global sea turtle efforts and ensure a healthy population.

“Disney has been an invaluable partner to STC these last 12 years,” said David Godfrey, Executive Director of STC. “With Disney’s support of the Tour de Turtles program, we have learned new information vital to the protection of sea turtles in Florida. Through the Tour de Turtles, STC has identified different foraging behaviors and regions, seasonal movements based on water temperature, and identified new areas that should be classified as critical habitat for loggerhead turtles.”

In addition to Tour de Turtles, Disney Vacation Club members and guests staying at the resort during this time also have the opportunity to join the team on turtle conservation and outings to observe the sea turtles and learn ways they can get involved.

Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, a Disney Vacation Club Resort, offers spacious vacation villas along the pristine Atlantic coastline. The resort is located less than a two-hour drive from the Walt Disney World Resort, and its design reflects the Treasure Coast region where it is situated. Disney Vacation Club, a leader in vacation ownership, debuted in 1991 with a flexible, vacation points-based system rather than the traditional fixed-week timeshare model. Disney Vacation Club Members are able to choose from among a variety of exciting vacation destinations, including a stay at any Disney Vacation Club Resort or one of thousands of other vacation options in destinations around the world.

Tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. at the Barrier Island Center in Melbourne STC will host a Tour de Turtles event that is open to the general public.

Check Out This Year’s Holiday Minnie Ears And Mickey Ears!

Holiday Minnie Ears

Holiday Minnie Ears

Let’s be honest, when it comes to the must have Disney accessory it is always all about the EARS! It looked like we’ll have plenty of festive ears to accessorize with this season too, with the gorgeous new Holiday Minnie Ears And Mickey Ears coming to the Disney Parks this year.

We got to take a sneak peek at the newest must have ears for this holiday season, and they are all so sensational! There will be two new pairs of holiday Minnie Ears this year, as well as a couple of Mickey ears hats! I may have a favorite or two, but all of them are absolutely sensational this year.

Holiday Minnie Ears

The flannel and sherpa Minnie Mouse ears look like a cozy blanket to curl up in for a cold winter evening. The sherpa bow, and inner lining are as soft as they look too! These ears are part of the Farmhouse Mickey Christmas collection.

Holiday Minnie Ears

This has definitely been the year of Disney snacks, and that tasty style will continue into this year’s Holiday season. The new Gingerbread cookie ears are definitely proof of that! These are plush ears shaped like delicious gingerbread cookies of Mickey and Minnie, with screen art and embroidered frostings for the details. The headband is topped off with a bow that looks like a twist wrapped Christmas candy!

Holiday Minnie Ears

The third pair of Minnie Mouse ears is also inspired by treats! The peppermint swirl Minnie Mouse ears look absolutely stunning. The sparkling peppermint swirls are accented by a fabulous green sequined bow that gives these ears a traditional, and stylish look.

There is a new Mickey Santa hat this year as well! This year’s new Santa Mickey hat is part of the Farmhouse Mickey Christmas collection, and coordinates perfectly with the Farmhouse Christmas Minnie Ears. The hat has a flannel plaid print, that is trimmed in sherpa, and of course adorned with Mickey’s iconic ears.

If caps is more your style, then let me introduce you to the snowman Mickey hat! There are lots of little details about this hat that really set it over the top. First this hat doesn’t have the traditional Mickey ears attached on top, instead this snowman face is topped by it’s own mini Mickey ears hat! This fuzzy hat is soft like snow to the touch, and has embroidered details, and a plush carrot for the snowman face. A plaid “scarf” is wrapped around the band of the hat, and there is even plush “stick” arms jutting out. The finale for this hat though, is that it LIGHTS UP! This is the ultimate holiday cheer cap if you ask me.

I definitely had a personal favorite for the ears, and it was the peppermint swirl Minnie Mouse headband. I am all about the sparkle, and the way these ears caught the light was truly fantastic. Many of these ears also coordinate beautifully with the four new Disney Spirit Jerseys also debuting this holiday season.

This year’s collection of Holiday Minnie Ears And Mickey Ears is the best one yet! There is no official release date for the ears yet, but last year’s holiday ears began showing up in October.

Top 5 Reasons to Sail Into the Sunset on the Disney Dream

Top 5 Reasons to Sail on the Disney Dream

Have you been on a Disney Cruise before? Have you always wanted to go? Check out the top five reasons why a cruise on the Disney Dream is an absolute dream come true!

1 – A cruise on the Disney Dream is the perfect option for a land and sea vacation. The Disney Dream leaves from Port Canaveral, Florida which is about an hour drive from Walt Disney World. You can board the ship for a 3-4 night cruise and extend your vacation by visiting the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios!

2 – Every single Disney Dream cruise visits Disney’s private island. Castaway Cay offers white sand beaches, clear blue waters, and views fit for a postcard. You can enjoy a day at the beach, swim like a fish, and have an all-you-care-to-eat lunch buffet.

3 – You will be swept away by a tale as old as time. “Beauty and the Beast” is the newest Disney Cruise Line musical. This performance is exclusive to the Disney Dream. “Beauty and the Beast” was developed by talented Broadway artists who have incorporated puppetry, theatrical design, and wonderful story-telling techniques to the show that plays aboard the ship.

4 – There’s no shortage of entertainment! The Disney Dream offers a variety of venues and activities for each member of your family. Kids can pilot the Millenium Falcon and make new friends in the youth areas. Adults can head over to The District which is a playground JUST for adults! You can also savor the precious time you have together at the deck parties, live shows, and the awesome AquaDuck water coaster!

5 – Lastly, there are plenty of ways to pamper yourself on the Disney Dream. Indulge in fine dining at Remy and Palo, treat yourself to a day at the Senses Spa, and splurge on a dessert from Vanellope’s. You can also surprise the little ones with a makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique fit for princesses, knights, and pirates alike.

Sunset Seasons Greetings Returns Once Again to Hollywood Studios

sunset seasons greetings tower of terror hollywood studios

It’s less than 5 months until Christmas and Disney is getting ready in a big way!  Ever since losing the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights, Hollywood Studios has found new ways to celebrate the season.  One new favorite is watching the Tower of Terror come to life with magical holiday projections.  The falling “snoap,” dancing lights, joyful music, and billboards that come to life fill Sunset Boulevard with laughter.  Projections this year will include Mickey and Minnie, Olaf, the Swedish Chef from The Muppets, and Toy Story.  The short featurettes projected on the tower will rotate all night so no matter when you stop by you are sure to catch some fun!

Sunset Seasons Greetings Returns Once Again to Hollywood Studios\

In front of the Chinese Theater, Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM will return.  This high action holiday show features Prep and Landing along with many other nostalgic projections on the theater and surrounding buildings.  Then an array of fireworks are flung into the air to the rhythm of some of our favorite holiday songs.  Both of these shows will begin on November 8, 2019 and end January 5, 2020 so there will be plenty of time to catch them along with all of the other exciting Christmas entertainment coming this season.

Mommy Rant About Millennials at Disney World Goes Viral

Walt Disney World

If you’ve ever been to a Disney Park on a hot summer day, you’ll know that people can get worked up over the small things. Case in point, one mom recently took to Facebook to unleash an angry rant against the happiest place on earth for, of all things, allowing adults to come without children.

Instead of appreciating Walt Disney’s bringing out the child in everyone, this particular guest found it revolting, calling childless visitors “immature millennials” and other much more offensive terms. Her wrath was seemingly provoked by a long line at a pretzel stand, where her 3-year old was forced to watch childless women in short shorts getting their snacks before him. She went as far as to angrily suggest that Disney either ban those who come without children or allow mothers and their little ones to cut in line.

WARNING: the original post uses expletives and offensive language.

After her rant was uploaded to Twitter, users exploded over the issue. Some laughed it off, others retaliated in anger. Many pointed out that Disney relies on childless couples for revenue in areas specifically designed for kid-free adults, such as bars and lounges.

https://twitter.com/orangepeel18/status/1153419759582699520

One can certainly understand the frustration that is felt on particularly hot and crowded days, especially with fussy children in tow. However, Walt Disney World wasn’t only built for children; it was built for the child in all of us. At Disney Parks, no matter their age or reason for visiting, guests are welcomed to a world unlike any other. And how could anyone be blamed for embracing it?
