Family Gets Surprised at Disney from Army Dad Returning from Deployment

It’s a special moment for any family when their loved one returns from deployment. This Seminole Florida Army Dad wanted to make it extra memorable creating a big surprise with his wife for his five children to return and surprise them at Disney World. Staff Army Seargent Byron Yates along with his wife Samantha Yate started putting together this plan for his return months in advance.

SSG Yates has been part of the Army for 13 years now.  He is based out of the Clearwater, Florida Aviation Medivac Unit. Yates will be working on base while home from deployment for the time being. It is uncertain of how long he will be state-side.  He has been serving overseas in Syria for over the past year now.

Samantha and Byron have five young children ranging from 11 years old to their youngest at just one. Samantha brought the kids to Disney’s Magic Kingdom all dressed up as princesses and princes. They were having their photo taken while holding a sign that read “We don’t know yet but our dad is home from deployment!” SSG then showed up in uniform behind his family to join the picture, and give his wife a hug before all the kiddos turned and realized their Dad was home. They rushed to give him a hug and the tears of joy started flowing, along with great big smiles. It was heartwarming to see the reaction, and the love this family shares in the most magical place on earth. They will have these photos and memories at Disney of their dad returning home to cherish always.

Topolino’s Terrace is Disney World’s Best New Character Dining Breakfast

Topolino’s Terrace is Disney World’s Best New Character Dining Breakfast

Walt Disney World’s Riviera Resort opened just over a month ago and with it a new restaurant, Topolino’s Terrace. For breakfast guest can dine with four of Disney’s most famous characters. Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends is a dining experience with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy. The characters go from table to table greeting guests and taking photos. They have brand new outfits that are exclusive to this restaurant. We got to experience this new character dining experience and it has quickly become a favorite. Here’s why you need Topolino’s Terrace  on your list of dining reservations.

Topolino’s Terrace is Disney World’s Best New Character Dining Breakfast

The Atmosphere

Topolino’s Terrace is a beautiful new restaurant with gorgeous views throughout. Like the rest of the Resort the restaurant has influences from the Riviera, both French and Italian sides. The restaurant is located on the 10th floor (rooftop) on top of the main part of the resort and overlooks the rest of the resort with large windows all around. The décor inside is simplistic yet so beautiful and gives off a very classy and relaxing vibe. It’s definitely a far cry from some of the more chaotic character dining restaurants.

The Characters

The character interaction at Topolino’s Terrace has been one of the best at any character dining meals I’ve been to on property. Their new costumes are really adorable and fit the rest of the atmosphere perfectly. All four of the characters made their way around quite quickly and took their time once at the table. We didn’t have to sit and wait forever for a character to arrive and once at our table it didn’t feel rushed like some other character meals. They also all came back a few times and even joked and interacted with each other while walking around. They have a cute dance routine that went on a couple times while we were there eating. All the characters joined in for that as well. It was by far one of the best interactions I’ve had with characters.

The food

Unlike most character meals, Topolino’s Terrace is not a buffet. Entrées are $41.00 for adults (10+) and $24.00 for kids (3-9) excluding taxes. There are several drink options for children and adults as well. The food was really unique and delicious. They bring everyone out a pail of pastries at the beginning of your meal. They were served in an adorable “paint bucket” and had a painters pallet with jam, butter, and chocolate-hazelnut spread.

The food was delicious and you can find the full menu here.

Know Before You Go

Topolino’s Terrace is Disney World’s Best New Character Dining Breakfast Topolino’s Terrace is Disney World’s Best New Character Dining Breakfast

Like most restaurants on Walt Disney World property it’s definitely a good idea to make reservations ahead of time. You can make reservations up to 180 days out from your first night of stay. Topolino’s Terrace character breakfast is one credit on the Disney Dining plan but dinner is a signature dining and requires two. As stated above the characters are only at breakfast which is from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM daily. The terrace with the amazing views is open and you can take drinks out there but not food at this time.

Topolino’s Terrace was such an amazing dining  experience. It was definitely the best new character meal on property. The food and character interaction was absolutely amazing. It was so nice to be at a fun and relaxed character meal. It will definitely be one that we return to multiple times. A big thank you to Walt Disney World for allowing us to try this amazing new restaurant. Please make sure to keep following along as we continue to show you any news and tips from around the Walt Disney World Resort.

‘Rick and Morty’ Confirmed To Exist In the Marvel Universe

'Rick and Morty' Confirmed To Exist In the Marvel Universe

Rick and Morty‘ Confirmed To Exist In the Marvel Universe. In the most recent X-Men chapter in the “Dawn of X” reboot line, Marauders #6, Marvel Comics confirms the existence of the popular animated adult television show, Rick and Morty.

The popular animated series follow Rick and Morty on many travels through space and time, and was inspired by the stories in popular 80’s film series, Back to the Future. Rick and Morty take much deeper and darker adventures in this series, but the series has become a cult classic since its debut. With two writers for the series being tapped by Marvel Studios to pen the scripts for Disney+ series Loki and She-Hulk, it’s no coincidence the show has been referenced to in new Marvel content.

'Rick and Morty' Confirmed To Exist In the Marvel Universe

The shout out that makes Rick and Morty “canon” in the Marvel Universe comes from an exchange in Marauders #6 during a report by Yellowjacket.

“What the hell kind of warship is this?” Yellowjacket writes, after seeing some of the weird/mundane behavior of the Marauder crew. “Well, Pyro made himself a couple of Long Island iced teas and now he’s in the yacht’s movie theater watching Rick and Morty.”

Though the characters themselves do not appear in the comic, it does now include Rick and Morty as an existing show within their universe. We love getting to see “real life” content shared in other forms of media, and it’s neat to feel more connected to the characters universe.

Kathleen Kennedy Calls for Rewrite of ‘Kenobi’ Disney+ Series Scripts Causing Delay in Production

Kathleen Kennedy Calls for Rewrite of 'Kenobi' Disney+ Series Scripts Causing Delay in Production

Kathleen Kennedy Calls for Rewrite of ‘Kenobi’ Disney+ Series Scripts Causing Delay in Production. Star Wars Fans have been buzzing since news broke that Ewan McGregor would return as Obi-Wan Kenobi for his own series on Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+. The currently untitled Disney+ series will follow Obi-Wan Kenobi between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and will be directed by Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian).

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy went over the scripts for the series and was not pleased with the storyline. Kennedy has ordered a rewrite for the scripts which has now caused an “indeterminable” delay in production.  Though many fans were distraught at the news, the series star and focus, Ewan McGregor encourages fans not to worry, that we will still get to see the series we are hoping for, and the series is still expected to begin shooting in January 2021, as previously scheduled.

“The scripts are really good. I saw 90% of the writing and I really liked it,” McGregor said. “All this bulls— about creative differences and all that stuff, none of it is true. We just pushed the dates … last episode, [Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker] came out, everyone had more time to read the stuff that had been written, and they felt that they wanted to do more work on it.”

McGregor continued, “So they slid the shoot. It’s not nearly as dramatic as it sounds online. I think they want to keep the same release date so it’s not really gonna affect the viewer in any way,” he said. “It just simply gives them more time to write and make the scripts even better.”

McGregor also debunked false reports of the series being cut from 6 episodes to 4 for the first season of the series. “I haven’t heard that,” McGregor told ComicBook.com when asked about the cut episodes.

The original concept of the series was actually slated to premiere as A Star Wars Story feature length film, but with the release of Disney+ and the raging success of The Mandalorian, it makes sense to retool the film into a series, which will allow us to go deeper into the story. Other concerns for the rewrite is that the original concept was too similarly structured to The Mandalorian, with Obi-Wan feeling the need to be protective of one young Luke Skywalker. It seems the series will re-shift the focus of the story to not just Obi-Wan’s sense of duty and responsibility for Luke, but may give insight to how Obi-Wan becomes known as Ben Kenobi within the franchise.

Are you excited for the new Star Wars series coming to Disney+? What other stories would you like to see? How do you think Obi-Wan became Ben Kenobi? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments! Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Star Wars.

Disney Reportedly Looking to Cast Zac Efron as Captain Jack Sparrow in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Reboot

Disney Reportedly Looking to Cast Zac Efron as Captain Jack Sparrow in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Reboot. Previously, we shared that Disney is looking to reboot the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, only this time, without Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. We assumed at the time this meant Jack Sparrow was not going to appear in the reboot, but it seems Disney is going in a different direction than expected.

According to some reports, Disney is looking to cast Zac Efron to replace Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow for the reboot. We still do not know if this means Disney will be remaking the original films, or if we will be getting new stories following a young Jack Sparrow before his time as a Captain.

“I think he [Johnny Depp] has had a great run. Obviously, he’s made that character his own and it’s become the character he’s most famous for now,” Stuart Beattie said to Daily Mail. “And kids all over the world love him as that character so I think it’s been great for him, it’s been great for us, so I’m just very, very happy about it.”

Disney has brought on veteran Pirates writer, Ted Elliott, and hired Chernobyl creator, Craig Mazin, to create an all new story that will give the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise “a kick in the pants.”  Disney Producer Sean Bailey wants to bring fresh faces to the franchise. “We want to bring in a new energy and vitality,” shared Bailey.

Originally in 2018, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, were signed on to reboot the franchise, but stepped down to focus on Deadpool 3 after Disney’s acquisition of Fox. Expected to return to the franchise is Executive Producer, Jerry Bruckheimer.

It is currently unknown if this Pirates reboot will premiere in theaters or possibly as a Disney+ original series or film on Disney’s new streaming service.

New Disney+ Survey Shares America's Thoughts on the New Streaming Service

The Mandalorian was an instant success and has taken the internet by storm for MONTHS now, especially with the obsession of a new character, The Child, also known by fans as “Baby Yoda”. According to HSI’s survey, 38% of Disney+ users have watched every episode of The Mandalorian. This was the first live-action Star Wars series for the franchise and with it’s roaring success, has led to the development of another Star Wars series for Disney+, the currently Untitled Kenobi series, set to be directed by Deborah Chow.

New Disney+ Survey Shares America's Thoughts on the New Streaming Service

Only a small percentage of subscribers have yet to watch any Disney+ Original content such as The Imagineering Story, Encore!, Forky Asks A Question, The World According to Jeff Goldblum, and more. HSI shares that only 16% of subscribers have yet to access this content, and are sticking to Disney classic content. We hope this changes soon! Disney+ has had some excellent content premiere on the streaming service and it would be a shame to miss out on the opportunity for deeper storytelling that we don’t get to see in theaters or on tv.

New Disney+ Survey Shares America's Thoughts on the New Streaming Service

More than half of Disney+ subscribers prefer to stream classic Disney content. 54% to be exact! Not to say that newer films and shows are not performing well, but it seems most subscribers have been excited to access titles that have long since been locked away in “The Disney Vault”. With unprecedented access to titles such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, and more, they are able to see films and shows that have been scarcely available for decades.

New Disney+ Survey Shares America's Thoughts on the New Streaming Service

Disney+ subscribers love the streaming service! So much so that 95% of subs plan to continue their subscription for another year, and possibly longer. This means subscribers find the content engaging, are anticipating new titles that will be available exclusively on Disney+, and are enjoying their experience with the streaming service so far.
