‘WandaVision’ Commercials Parallel the Infinity Stones and Wanda’s Trauma

WandaVision Commercial Images and Wanda Maximoff

WandaVision‘ Commercials Parallel the Infinity Stones and Wanda’s Trauma. The new WandaVision series has had plenty of Easter eggs and nods to the Marvel Comics, but fans were alerted by show runners to pay attention to the commercials featured in the series who shared the commercials tell their own tales.

Eagle eyed fans noticed within the first few episodes that the commercial paralleled both the Infinity Stones and traumatic moments throughout Wanda Maximoff’s life.

'WandaVision' Commercials Parallel the Infinity Stones and Wanda's Trauma

In episode 1 the commercial featuring a Stark Industries created toaster with a small colored, beeping light with a nervous looking couple waiting for the toast to pop. Humerously, this commercial nods to an argument Vision and Wanda have in the comics where she tells Vision, “You’re a damn toaster!” This scene then heavily leads us to the Mind Stone, which is the source of both Vision and Wanda’s powers. The scene is also reminiscent of the death of Wanda and Pietro’s parents in Sacovia due to a mortar bombardment that featured stolen/illegally sold Stark Industries tech. Pietro and Wanda had shared previously that they sat in their crumbling apartment building waiting for one of the mortars to go off and kill them too, before being rescued. This traumatic experience leads Pietro and Wanda to being radicalized against Stark and The Avengers and joining Strucker’s experiments.

'WandaVision' Commercials Parallel the Infinity Stones and Wanda's Trauma

Episode 2 features a commercial for a watch created by Wolfgang Von Strucker. This one is a little more obvious, as a direct reference to Strucker and his experiments on Wanda and Pietro, giving them their powers which was bound to be traumatic for the subjects. The watch is easily tied to the Time Stone, and this is about the time fans realized the commercials were telling their own stories.

'WandaVision' Commercials Parallel the Infinity Stones and Wanda's Trauma

As we entered episode 3 fans began to pay more attention and well, this is where it starts to become a little more obvious. The commercial features a strung out mother who is tired and in need of a break. To kick back and relax in a bath, the mother uses “Hydra Soak” a notable blue soap, making a direct connection with a scene in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. where Coulson learns Hydra took control of the populous with some “blue soap” which was full of brainwashing chemicals. In the WandaVision commercial the soap is conveniently sold in a cube with blue text around it, which makes it, you guessed it, the Space Stone. Likely, this is a direct reference to Strucker’s experiments on Wanda and how Hydra managed to brainwash the twins during the experiments.

'WandaVision' Commercials Parallel the Infinity Stones and Wanda's Trauma

As we rolled into episode 4, the featured commercial mimics the iconic spill commercials we are familiar with. A red liquid is spilled and a paper towel brand named Lagos is used by the couple featured in the commercials. Lagos just so happens to be the location that Captain America, Black Widow, The Falcon, and Wanda went to stop Crossbones from stealing an undisclosed virus from a Disease Control Center. Cap is distracted by Crossbones who shared Bucky is alive and Wanda saves Captain America by using her powers to contain Crossbones who triggered an explosion. Unfortunately, she isn’t able to control the entire situation and the bomb goes off several stories in the air, killing and wounding over a dozen people in an adjacent building and triggering the creation of The Sacovia Accords. The spilled red liquid parallels the innocent blood that was spilled and the reference to “husbands can use it too” refers to Vision accidentally hurting Rhodey later on in Captain America: Civil War. The red liquid also represents the Reality Stone, and shows this event is one of Wanda’s biggest regrets and she wishes she could change it all.

'WandaVision' Commercials Parallel the Infinity Stones and Wanda's Trauma

Episode 5, the latest episode for the series at the time of writing, featured the first animated commercial, using claymation, a popular animation style in the 90’s. The yogurt commercial features a boy sitting alone on an island when a shark comes out and gives him a container of “Yo-Magic” yogurt. The boy struggles to open the contain and slowly withers away as the days go by. This commercial seems to directly reference how Vision can not live without Wanda’s magic (for the moment) and seems to represent the Soul Stone.

This would leave the Power Stone to be featured in episode 6 commercial, which based on the amount of sheer raw power we just saw at the end of episode 5 makes total sense.

'WandaVision' Commercials Parallel the Infinity Stones and Wanda's Trauma

Did you notice any of these clues throughout the commercials? What other Easter eggs have you noticed in the series? We would love to hear about them in the comments. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Marvel!

Disney confirms attendance cap remains at 35%

Disney confirms attendance cap remains at 35%

Disney confirms attendance cap remains at 35%. When Disney World reopened back in July 2020, the phased opening of the four parks also included an attendance cap of 25%. Back in November, however, this attendance cap increased to 35%.

In January this year, news broke that it seemed likely that Walt Disney World will keep the attendance capped to 35% until 2022! Reported by the Orlando Sentinel, Disney confirms attendance cap remains at 35%, following an interview with CEO Bob Chapek. That despite the rise in COVID-19 cases within the state of Florida, the parks will remain at 35% capacity. Likewise, even with the COVID-19 vaccinations rolling out, the park capacity will remain the same. As confirmed by Mr Chapek, who said “to us seems like the biggest lever that we can have in order to either take the parks that are currently under limited capacity and increase it or open up parks that are currently closed”.

Current COVID-19 guidelines for the Walt Disney World resort are: park capacity at 35%, the six-foot rule between separate parties and other CDC guidelines, such as spaces between guests on attractions. Disney’s 35% capacity is the maximum amount of guests to allow for social distancing throughout the parks.

To prepare for your visit to Walt Disney World, make sure you purchase your park ticket and book your chosen park via the Park Reservation System! Click here to access more information and book your park! Remember before you enter the park/ wider resort that face coverings are mandatory for guests (and cast members) aged 2 years old and upwards. Prior to entering some locations, you maybe required to have your temperature taken. For further information on COVID-19 guidelines before you visit the Happiest Place on Earth click here!

The Disneyland Resort recently suspended its Annual Passholder program. According to UBS financial analysts, Disneyland Annual Passholders made up 50% of Disneyland’s attendance.

Related – Disneyland Ending Annual Pass Program effective immediately

With an estimated 1 million annual passholders, it is easy to understand why Disney ended the passholder program. Could you imagine how many people would try to visit the parks when they reopen?

Disneyland

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure have been closed for almost a year now. The parks likely won’t return to full operation until late March or early April. When the parks do reopen, it’ll likely be at a reduced capacity and require park passes similar to Disney World.

With the number of Disneyland passholders so high, if even a fraction of them wanted to visit the parks when they reopen, there could be problems.

Related – Disneyland Annual Passholders take advantage of 30% off merch discount before AP is gone

In 2019, Disneyland attendance reached 18.7 million visitors. Disney California Adventure attendance reached 9.9 million visitors that same year. Combined, the parks draw around 28.6 million guests annually with passholders making up 14.3 million of those visits.

Analysis says Passholders accounted for 50% of Disneyland attendance

At the daily rate for visitors, it would take Disneyland 20 days just to let each passholder into the park at once. Disney California Adventure would take twice as long. And that is with letting only passholders into the parks. It also doesn’t account for the parks being required to operate at 25% capacity when they reopen.

So, Disneyland ended their passholder program and will eventually replace it with something new. Were you one of the 1 million Disneyland annual passholders?

Bonjour Village Gifts in Fantasyland Receives a Makeover

Bonjour Village Gift Shop

Something is newer than ever in New Fantasyland! Bonjour! Village Gift Shop over by Gaston’s Tavern in the Magic Kingdom got a very subtle upgrade and it looks “Magnifique!” The shop is currently closed and it looks like a makeover is in the works.

The old exterior of the shop was a tan color, much like the rest of the buildings in the area. The new paint job makes it stand out with a mossy green look. It’s much more vibrant but still has a provincial appeal. There’s no telling what updates are happening inside while the shop is closed to the public!

Bonjour Village Gifts in Fantasyland Receives a Makeover

Bonjour! Village Gift Shop opened back in December of 2012. Much of New Fantasyland debuted at that time, including other Beauty and the Beast attractions. This includes Gaston’s Tavern, Be Our Guest Restaurant, and Enchanted Tales with Belle. These attractions were closed due to last year’s lockdowns, and Enchanted Tales with Belle has yet to reopen. There’s no better time to do a makeover than now!

Bonjour Village Gifts in Fantasyland Receives a Makeover

The gift shop typically sells themed merchandise from Beauty and the Beast. Guests can find T-shirts, dishes, blankets, and more. Since reopening at Christmastime last year, social distancing has been prioritized with plexiglass at the registers and markers on the floor. What do you think they’ll be changing inside the store next?

We love the new mossy green exterior at Bonjour! Village Gift Shop. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!

White House is not considering any new domestic air travel restrictions

Lately there has been concerns that the White House might be implementing new air travel or domestic travel restrictions. Yesterday, the White House said it is not currently considering any new domestic air travel restrictions.

“No decisions have been made around additional public health measures that would change domestic travel,” White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.

Reports of the Biden administration considering imposing restrictions on states with high COVID-19 cases, like Florida, brought major criticism. Florida Governor DeSantis called the idea absurd and said Florida would fight back if restrictions were imposed.

White House is not considering any new domestic air travel restrictions

Earlier reports stated the Biden administration was looking into requiring COVID-19 testing for travelers prior to boarding domestic flights. Airlines have urged the administration not to require testing. Chief executives of major U.S. airlines are scheduled to meet with the White House’s COVID-19 response coordinator today.

U.S. officials say they are not moving forward with requiring domestic testing right now but could revisit the idea if conditions change.
