Florida bill being introduced to lower Timeshare Property Taxes

DVC Timeshare property Taxes

Timeshare Property Taxes are under a microscope as legislation is under consideration again. Timeshare Property owners, Wyndham Destinations Inc., Hilton Grand Vacations Inc., the Walt Disney Co.’s Disney Vacation Club, and Marriott seek to save million in taxes.

Ellyn Bogdanoff, a lobbyist hired by Marriott’s Grande Vista, which is run by Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corp, wrote the legislation. The bill aims to lower timeshare values and thus the taxes paid by their owners. Owners could save $170 million dollars in paid taxes. The bill addresses how timeshare resales are factored into property valuations. This bill being proposed would according to those who oppose saying it would cost cities, counties, and schools millions of dollars.

Orange County Property Appraiser Amy Mercado and Osceola County Property Appraiser Katrina Scarborough are both against the bill, which would have the biggest impact in tourist-heavy Central Florida, which has more timeshares than any other part of the state.

This argument over “we pay too much taxes” from the Timeshare industry has been going on for many years. Most recently the Osceola County property appraiser won a court case against Wyndham timeshares. The case upheld how Osceola County appraised the properties.

Beach Club DVC

There is no word yet on how DVC members would be affected by the timeshare property taxes change being proposed.

This bill is too be discussed for the first time Tuesday by state lawmakers in the Senate Regulated Industries committee.

Magic is finally returning to the Disneyland Resort theme parks as Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park plan to officially reopen to the public on April 30, with limited capacity.

Per California state guidelines, the name and contact information of each person who purchases a ticket to the parks should be collected for contact tracing purposes. This information must be provided by the ticket purchaser, who will serve as the main contact on behalf of his/her entire party. In addition, at the time a guest purchases park tickets and makes a park reservation, the purchasing guest must confirm that the guest’s party size will not contain more than 3 households and that the guest, and all members of the guest’s party, are California residents, since the guidelines limit theme park attendance to in-state visitors only.

Disneyland has yet to release when park tickets will be available to purchase or what the tickets will cost. More details about the reopening will be provided in the weeks ahead. Stay tuned to Chip & Co!

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Start with the cookie crust. In a mixing bowl, add softened unsalted butter and light brown sugar, and mix until combined. Then pour in all-purpose flour and mix until crumbled dough forms.
Winnie the Pooh Cream Puffs
  • Transfer the dough to a working surface and knead it together until a solid round of dough forms. Place it in between 2 pieces of parchment paper and roll flat. Cut circles with the cookie cutter (you should get around 16 cutouts). Let the dough cool in the refrigerator.
  • Preheat the oven to 425F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper or baking mats.
  • Now make the cream puff pastry. Combine water, butter, and salt in a medium saucepan. Heat until the butter has melted and then bring it to a rolling boil. Add the flour all at once, stirring vigorously.
Winnie the Pooh Cream Puffs
  • Return the pan to the stove and cook over medium heat, continuing to stir until the mixture is smooth. You should be able to form a ball of dough.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool for about 10 minutes.
  • Transfer the mixture to a stand mixer and beat in the eggs, 1 at a time. (The mixture will look curdled at first, but once you add all the eggs in and continue mixing it, it will smooth out).
Winnie the Pooh Cream Puffs
  • Add batter to a piping bag. Pipe 2″ circle onto the prepared baking sheets. Space them about 3-4″ apart so they have room to expand.
Winnie the Pooh Cream Puffs
  • Take the cookie crust dough out from the fridge and place each circle gently on top of the piped cream puffs. (This technique allows the cookie to become a crust).
Winnie the Pooh Cream Puffs
  • Bake the pastries for 20-25 minutes or until they’re a medium golden brown. (Remember not to open the oven door while they’re baking or they may deflate).
  • Remove the puffs from the oven and place them on a rack to cool.
  • Now make the honey whipped cream filling. Pour the cream into a mixing bowl and begin to whip it on high speed with a whisk attachment for about 5 minutes. Add honey, vanilla, and a couple drops of yellow food coloring and mi it on low speed until it’s just incorporated.
Winnie the Pooh Cream Puffs
  • Fill a pastry bag with your filling. Carefully slice off the top of each cream puff and fill the center using a large, round piping tip (#1A) inserted into a pastry bag. Fill each until a round mound forms that’s the shape of Pooh’s head. Using another pastry bag fitted with a smaller round tip (#8), pipe 2 ears on the top of his head and 2 feet on the bottom. Then place the top layer of pastry onto Pooh’s head.
Winnie the Pooh Cream Puffs
  • Using melted dark chocolate, draw Pooh’s facial features with a toothpick.

Enjoy!

Mark Hamill and James Mangold Call for Filming Boycott in Georgia After Controversial Voting Bill Passes

Mark Hamill and James Mangold Call for Filming Boycott in Georgia After Controversial Voting Bill Passes. Several big names in Hollywood are calling for studios to pull production from Georgia after a controversial voting bill passed for the state.

According to EW, “The new election law, which was signed on March 25, brings more rigid voter restrictions including ID requirements for absentee voting, a limit on the number of ballot drop boxes, and it prohibits supplying food and water to anyone within 150 feet of the polling place or 25 feet of any voter in line. It also shortens runoff reelections from nine to four weeks. The bill has been denounced by Democrats and voting rights groups, with President Biden even calling it “Jim Crow in the 21st Century.””

After the bill was passed, Indiana Jones 5 Director James Mangold shared to twitter: “I will not direct a film in Georgia.”

I’m resting my hope in the DOJ taking a hard look at this unconstitutional voter suppression law that harkens to the Jim Crow era,” he continues. “As some consider boycotting, please remember that we did turn Georgia blue and there is a gubernatorial race on the horizon — that’s the beauty of a democracy.

Wyatt Russell Says Fans are Supposed to Dislike his character in 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier'

Wyatt Russell Says Fans are Supposed to Dislike his character in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘. Many Marvel fans have been quick to dislike the swiftly introduced John Walker, aka US Agent, in the new hit series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Walker has been the subject of memes for weeks now, with many feeling that the character could never live up to the mantle of “Captain America” set by Steve Rogers. According to Marvel newcomer, actor Wyatt Russell: “That’s the goal.”

Russell shared with TheWrap, “That’s the goal. I think people had a fun reaction. There’s elements to him where he [John Walker] wants to be able to do it without the super soldier serum. Just be that good,” Russell continued. “He does have those ideas in his head of wanting people to like him, like his version of Captain America. It sort of gets rained on and causes him to have to rethink how things are going to be done.”

Wyatt Russell Says Fans are Supposed to Dislike his character in 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier'

Wyatt also shares that, though they are both good men who used the super soldier serum to enhance their abilities, Steve Rogers and John Walker had different advantages as heroes. Steve used his network of friends, military skills/tactics and fellow heroes to fight the good fight, while John Walker benefits from being raised in the digital age. As seen in the series, John has a team of PR reps behind him that help him appear as heroic as possible, but that pressure does not come without it’s own set of challenges.

“The military man of World War II is just very different than the military man in today’s age. They just operate differently; the PR machine operates differently. There’s many more opinions about what military should be what their roles should be in the world,” Russell elaborated. “He’s a little bit of a guy who’s just been good at doing his job. And he’s done this to serve and protect, based on some of the things that Steve did, and feels like he just wants to do the job but people aren’t necessarily willing to accept him as the person to do it.”
