New Building Replaces the Pygmy Hut on the Jungle Cruise

New “Boats & Baits and Bites!” Shack on the Jungle Cruise

The changes happening over at the Magic Kingdom’s Jungle Cruise are coming fast. In January 2021, Disney announced that enhancements would be coming to both Walt Disney World and Disneyland versions of the classic ride. Those evolutions are already taking place, and the latest one involves what used to be known as a “pygmy hut, ” but is now a “Boats & Baits and Bites!” shack. Have you spotted it yet?

New Building Replaces the Pygmy Hut on the Jungle Cruise

The Jungle Cruise is undergoing a change that will impact its entire storyline while continuing to delight guests with the same spirit and theme we’ve loved for generations. The tale will be that of a skipper (not the same as the one on your boat!) and his group of unfortunate passengers as they encounter many travel woes. Better hope the same doesn’t happen to your traveling party!

The ride has been getting quite a bit of attention lately. There is a feature film based on the idea, a new Little Golden Book that takes readers through the ride, and changes taking place on both American coasts. It remains a fan favorite, as well as a Disney icon.

Thankfully for those of us who love a good trip down the river, the Jungle Cruise in Disney World will remain open during its update. The work will be done in phases. That is also fun for guests who have the opportunity to slowly watch the progress occurring. Next time you’re on the Jungle Cruise, keep your eyes peeled for the newest business shack in the jungle, as well as any other updates that may be coming along!

Work being done on Storybook Circus Meet & Greet in the Magic Kingdom

Storybook Circus Meet & Greet

Storybook Circus Meet & Greet in the Magic Kingdom has filed permits for work to be done. Pete’s Silly Sideshow is a character meet-and-greet area featured in the Storybook Circus section of Fantasyland. Unlike the past when it housed Meet and Greets, recently it has housed a mask-free zone.

It is vague on the work order, only saying they will “provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction”. I gather by the permits, filed recently in Orange County, that it could be to transform the building back into the Storybook Circus Meet & Greet. Nonetheless, without Disney’s word, we do not know the full details. Furthermore, this could just be an upgrade. Rumor and Innuendo say Meet and Greet returning.

Storybook Circus Casey Jr Splash Pad

Storybook Circus is home to Big Top Souvenirs along with Casey Jr Splash and Soak Station. In addition to a stop on the Walt Disney Railroad, when that is in operations. Not only is Dumbo the Flying Elephant located in Storybook Circus, but also Barnstormer.

Also included in the area is Pete’s Silly Sideshow. Undoubtedly, one of the coolest spots to meet the characters in Circus mode! Goofy as “The Great Goofini” along with Donald Duck as “The Astounding Donaldo”. Subsequently, my favorite is Daisy as “Madame Daisy Fortuna”. We all love Minnie as “Minnie Magnifique”.

Though the attraction is named after Pete, he does not physically appear within it beyond the marquee. Design sketches in an Imagineer’s online portfolio suggest he was original to have been animatronic (with a skeleton recycled from the Timekeeper) at the entrance serving as a carnival barker inviting guests inside

Show your pride in Disney Springs with these new Pride Walls

Pride Walls at Disney Springs

Pride Walls have popped up at Disney Springs this week as part of Pride month 2021. In addition to murals next to Disney’s Days of Christmas, you will find a new photo wall inspired by Love, Victor. The Hulu series Love, Victor is inspired by and set in the same world as the 2018 film Love, Simon. The series premiered on June 17, 2020, on Hulu.

Disney Parks Blog recently shared some more information regarding Pride Month in a newer post where they go on talking about the hopes that the cast will bring their authentic selves to work every day. Furthermore, we hope our guests see their backgrounds and cultures reflected in the experiences, stories, and offerings in our parks and resorts.

In honor of Pride Month, we are taking the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the contributions, culture, and experiences of the LGBTQ+ community. We work every day to make Disney a place where everyone feels they belong. Especially through our recent Disney Look changes. We encourage all of our cast to bring their authentic selves to work every day. Importantly, we hope our guests see their backgrounds and cultures reflected in the experiences, stories, and offerings in our parks and resorts.

At Disney Springs you’ll find murals celebrating Pride Month. In addition to a new photo wall inspired by Love, Victor. A Hulu Original Series following Victor on his own journey of self-discovery. It should be noted that Season 2 will premier on June 11. The artwork is dispersed throughout Disney Springs, and the photo wall is located near Disney’s Days of Christmas.
