New Social Distancing Measures in place on the Disney Monorails

monorail sign
New Social Distancing Measures in place on the Disney Monorails

Social distancing on transportation at Walt Disney World is still being encouraged even though some changes have been made to other social distancing measures at the resort. Earlier this year plastic dividers were added to the monorail, dividing each monorail compartment into 4 sections.

Now, signs have been added to the monorail compartments. Each section now has a marker with the words, “Please Wait Here”.

New Social Distancing Measures in place on the Disney Monorails

Previously, standing while riding the monorail was discouraged. Only two adults were allowed to sit in each section of the compartment, with larger parties split up. Now, parties of three are allowed in each section with 2 sitting and 1 standing.

The new markers remind guests to stay in their space and maintain physical distancing.

Could more changes be coming to Walt Disney World’s health and safety measures?

More Disney World Park Pass Reservations opened for Summer

Disney World Park Pass Reservations

More Disney World Park Pass Reservations opened for Summer. Previously we reported on Disney CEO Bob Chapek saying that more reservations would be opening up this summer. Clearly, now it looks like it is coming true. We had previously been watching the reservation system. We all watched as most of July was booked, and the only park available some days was Epcot.

Now it appears that all parks and days are available, Importantly, Hollywood Studios have every day of July and August available as of now. The reservations that are filling up deal mostly with Theme Park Guests and Resort Guests. Furthermore, most days have had availability for Annual Pass Holder. Clearly, It should be noted that July 4th is booking up fast for the Fourth of July Holiday.

Above, you can obviously see, that August is completely open for Theme Park and Resort Guests. A reminder though, Disney After Hour Boo Bash starts August 10th on most Tuesdays and Fridays throughout the month.

CEO Bob Chapek spoke recently at the J.P. Morgan Global Technology Media, and Communications Conference. He said they are looking at increasing capacity fully by the end of Q4. Chapek said on the company’s second-quarter earnings call previously that the theme parks had already started increasing their capacity, and he thinks “you’re going to see an immediate increase in the number of folks that we’re able to admit into our parks.”

Disney World Park Pass Reservations appear to be staying for the foreseeable future. Chapek said both systems helped guests stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also stated that the park pass reservation system will remain in place even after the pandemic is over. We suspected as much since the park pass calendar extends into 2023 already.

New Building Replaces the Pygmy Hut on the Jungle Cruise

New “Boats & Baits and Bites!” Shack on the Jungle Cruise

The changes happening over at the Magic Kingdom’s Jungle Cruise are coming fast. In January 2021, Disney announced that enhancements would be coming to both Walt Disney World and Disneyland versions of the classic ride. Those evolutions are already taking place, and the latest one involves what used to be known as a “pygmy hut, ” but is now a “Boats & Baits and Bites!” shack. Have you spotted it yet?

New Building Replaces the Pygmy Hut on the Jungle Cruise

The Jungle Cruise is undergoing a change that will impact its entire storyline while continuing to delight guests with the same spirit and theme we’ve loved for generations. The tale will be that of a skipper (not the same as the one on your boat!) and his group of unfortunate passengers as they encounter many travel woes. Better hope the same doesn’t happen to your traveling party!

New Building Replaces the Pygmy Hut on the Jungle Cruise

The ride has been getting quite a bit of attention lately. There is a feature film based on the idea, a new Little Golden Book that takes readers through the ride, and changes taking place on both American coasts. It remains a fan favorite, as well as a Disney icon.

Related – New Jungle Cruise will open in Disneyland in July, with work finishing in Magic Kingdom this Summer

Thankfully for those of us who love a good trip down the river, the Jungle Cruise in Disney World will remain open during its update. The work will be done in phases. That is also fun for guests who have the opportunity to slowly watch the progress occurring. Next time you’re on the Jungle Cruise, keep your eyes peeled for the newest business shack in the jungle, as well as any other updates that may be coming along!
