Disney World Quick Tips - Packing Your Electronics

Have you ever wondered how in the world you were going to keep all those tiny things safe in your luggage?

Chargers for all your electronic items, iPods, mini video cameras, OTC medications, first aid items, portable video game cartridges, extra memory cards/sticks and batteries are just a few of the small itemspictured above.

All these objects fit nicely in a pencil case where they are protected and can easily be stored inside the in-room safe in most resort rooms. I would refrain from putting anything wet or liquid in with the electronic items in case of spills or leaks. I purchased my pencil case at the beginning of the school year for around $1. Most large box retailers carry them and in a multitude of colors. You can even decorate them with Disney stickers if you wish.

Teen Not Allowed in Animal Kingdom Dressed as Tinker Bell

A teen claims she was denied entry to Disney’s Animal Kingdom because of her Tinker Bell costume. April Speilman, 15, says she wanted to make her boyfriend’s first visit to Walt Disney World special. She put together costumes so they could dress as Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. She says they had no problems at Disney’s Hollywood Studios but they were stopped before entering the Animal Kingdom and asked to change out of the costumes. Speilman says park officials told her she looked too much like the real Tinker Bell, “They just said, You look too good, so you’re going to have to take off the costume.” Disney did give the couple free clothes so they could stay at the park.

Disney’s Dress Policy says:

That they do reserve the right to exclude guests that wear clothing that could create a distraction. Unacceptable attire includes adults in costumes or in clothing that can be viewed as a costume. The only exclusions are for children under the age of 10. Adult guests can wear costumes to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party but guests dressed as Disney characters are not allowed to sign autographs or pose for photos so that they are not confused with Cast Members.

First Look – Disney’s Wreck it Ralph

In this first look at Wreck it Ralph, Ralph is sharing one of Pac Man’s Cherries with Q-Bert and Friends. I will be honest I don’t think I would have ever said that last sentence in my life.

As voiced by John C. Reilly, Ralph is a vintage 8-bit brute who has been bashing buildings for 30 years, only to have the well-mannered namesake hero of Fix-It Felix, Jr. constantly repair all his demolition handiwork.

After attending a support group for arcade evildoers which allows for cameos by such classic foes as Dr. Robotnik from Sonic the Hedgehog and Zangief the wrestler in Street Fighter II, Ralph decides to travel through a power strip and enter other games to prove he can be a good guy.

I can’t wait till November 2nd to see this movie. What about you?

Disney to Stop Running Ads for Junk Food

The Walt Disney Company has announced that all of the food products that are advertised on its children’s television channels, radio stations, and web sites must now comply with a new set of nutritional standards. The ad restrictions will also extend to the Saturday morning cartoons that run on ABC stations. However, you won’t see these changes until 2015 because of existing advertising agreements.

The NY Times reports that Disney’s standards are based on based on the federal government’s Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the Federal Trade Commission’s proposed guidelines for food marketing to children. For example, under Disney’s new standards breakfast cereals that are advertised must contain fewer than 10 g of sugar per serving. Kid’s meals at fast food chains will also be under scrutiny.

Disney also announced it will introduce its “Mickey Check” into grocery store aisles. You will find the logo on Disney licensed products that meet the new nutritional standards. You also find the logo on children’s items at Disney parks and resorts.

Gossiping with Keegan Allen of Pretty Little Liars

Yesterday Keegan Allen, Toby, from Pretty Little Liars, sat down to gossip about his life and his role on Pretty Little Liars. Pretty Little Liars all new season starts tonight night at 8pm on ABC Family!

I have heard you say and read on your website that you are a complete 180 from your character Toby, how to do you mentally prepare for such a roll?

I tend to pull from people in my past. A lot of dark kids in highschool who have turned out to be super cool, I go back to that time and pull from them what I saw them doing, how they interacted with other people.

Is Toby going to form any new relationships this season on Pretty Little Liars?

What is cool is as a cast off camera we all interact so well with each other as much as possible and this season we are able to have some interactions that were not there in the past!

In the book series that Pretty Little Liars is based off of Toby dies early on, how cool is it to play a role that isn’t really scripted in the books?

Its really cool playing a roll like that. The writers add him in where they would see him fitting in and playing out what would happen if Toby were alive here!

Which couple on Pretty Little Liars is going to make it for the long hall?

Honestly, it is really up in the air!

Are Spencer and Toby going to stick it out?

Yes! It is going to be an interesting ride. Toby has evolved and it is very rewarding!

Is Spenser and Toby sleuthing together going to put a strain on their relationship?

They really love each other, but adding that into the mix is going to make it intense. Not to mention they are teenagers growing up which adds extra emotion!

How did you land the role of Toby on Pretty Little Liars?

*Laughs* I actually skated to the audition and wore a beanie, which is a no no when auditioning because it makes it hard to see your face! I still get teased to this day about it!

You have made it clear you are an all around nice guy, just like everyone else. What I want to know is do you go to Walt Disney World or Disneyland like the rest of us?

YES! I actually love Disneyland, I have never been to Disney World, that’s in Florida right?!, but would love to go! I am a huge fan! I actually wear a Mickey Mouse watch everyday! After all it is the Happiest Place on Earth right?!

Well after that comment, if you didn’t already have enough fans, I am sure you gained a few more Disney die hards! Keegan Allen is super nice to sit down and chat with and super nice to look at! People are calling him One of the Hottest Guys on Tuesday Night TV – and you can be certain we will be seeing even more of “Toby” without his shirt on!

Disney’s John Carter Bluray Review

I had the pleasure of checking out the Edgar Rice Burroughs classic tale John Carter over the weekend. How someone from the early 1900’s could write something so futuristic and entertaining for a non fiction era is beyond me.

This movie was great! While my writer Patrick was able to see the film when it first came out and is hands down the bigger nerd than I am I wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t link to his great movie review.

Not knowing much about the story of John Carter I felt I would be a good candidate to fill the Bluray Reviewer role as most people who are going to be reading this review are probably not as versed with Barsoom or the rich lore from the books. I will be honest I have never read or even heard of this tale from Edgar Rice Burroughs. I am lucky that Disney Publishing sent me the actual books which are on my to do list this summer.

I thought the movie was stunning, Disney really transports you in the tale. While for me the beginning was a little jumpy and I wish they would have given us more of John Carters back-story after watching it for a little bit you start to pick the necessary pieces of his past up.

The overall feel of the movie reminds me of Avatar and you can tell Disney really put the time and budget into this film just like Avatar did. I think the storyline is great and the marketing just fell short telling people about the film It’s hard to have such a great film when people are kind of clueless as to what it’s about.

I am not going to go into movie details or plot points. You can look them up online or read the book. What I do what to focus on is the bonus content.

The 19 minute deleted scenes for me was the best part of the bonus content. After watching the movie I was left with wanting more. The 10 or so deleted scenes are far from finished but is a nice addition to the combo pack.

The blooper reel wasn’t really funny what I loved the best was the “100 Years in the Making” feature. It is a remarkable look at how Edgar Rice Burroughs brought John Carter to a world that was dominated by Non Fiction. It was one of the major highlights for me in all of the bonus content.

John Carter was a really good movie and I think Disney did a great job with it. If you are a science fiction nut or love Edgar Rice Burroughs you will really love this movie. I plan on reading the books this summer since last I heard there won’t be a second or third film. John Carter is out today on Bluray & DVD.

Overall I give the movie a B+.
