New Interactive Queue in the Big Top Tent at Dumbo The Flying Elephant

Walt Disney Imagineering just shared new details about the new interactive queue area that will open at the big top tent at Dumbo the Flying Elephant in New Fantasyland this July.

This innovative queue area will completely redefine what it means for guests to prepare for a Disney attraction. Here’s how it will work: Guests arrive at Dumbo’s big top and receive a circus ticket pager that virtually holds their place and notifies them when it’s their turn to board the attraction. Kids (and kids of all ages) can then become part of the show inside the tent by enjoying circus-themed play experiences, while Dumbo flies high above.

First Official From Set of 'Iron Man 3' Has Arrived

It’s been five weeks since the massive juggernaut that is Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ landed and broke records. But don’t expect the studio to go slow down any time soon. Now with Phase 1 of their films complete, they’ve moved into phase 2. And what better movie to start the next phase with then the character that started it all, Iron Man. ‘Iron Man 3’, which is set for a release date of May 3, 2013, has begun production. The sequel sees Robert Downey, Jr. donning the armor once more, with an all star cast that includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Sir Ben Kingsley, Jon Favreau, and Rebecca Hall. The film is being directed by Shane Black, who wrote ‘Lethal Weapon’, ‘Last Action Hero’, and wrote and directed ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang’. 'Evita' Sings Her Way Onto Blu-Ray June 19th

Get ready to sing all over again with ‘Evita’, starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas, with this fifteenth year anniversary blu-ray release on June 19, 2012. The movie, inspired by the true story of Eva Peron, was the winner of the Academy Award for Best Song and the winner of three Golden Globes for Best Picture (Comedy/Musical), Best Original Song, and Best Performance (Comedy/Musical) for Madonna. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this movie, but I’ve never actually had a chance to see it, so I think now is a better time than any to check out this gem. I’m definitely looking forward to adding it to my collection and sitting down to watch it. How about you? Are you a fan of the movie and will you be getting it on blu-ray? How To Get The Best Views for Firework Shows

Many families will line up to steak out their viewing spot up to an hour early for Fantasmic at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Wishes Nighttime Spectacular at Magic Kingdom.  Once they find their “spot” they have to sit on the curb, bench or sidewalk to save this “spot” until show time.  But did you know there are better ways to spend this time at Walt Disney World?

At Hollywood Studios, you can make reservations for the Fatasmic Meal Package at select restaurants.  You can book a lunch or dinner reservation at The Hollywood Brown Derby or Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano  or a dinner reservation at Hollywood & Vine on days when Fantasmic is scheduled.  You can pick up  your VIP voucher at the time of your meal reservation.   With your voucher you will be guided to reserved seating 30-45 minutes prior to show time.  (Other families without the vouchers will wait much longer to get into the amphitheater and may not have the greatest view.)

At Magic Kingdom, you can end your evening with the Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party at the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant.   An hour prior to Wishes, your family can enjoy a self serving buffet full of mouth watering desserts and drinks with the purchase of a separate party ticket.  The best part of this experience is when Wishes starts, you’ll be right where Tinkerbell flies!

You can call (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463) to make dining reservations for the Fantasmic Meal Package or the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party.  Make sure you make your Hollywood Studio’s reservations on a day when Fantasmic is showing!!

Three Men Charged in Disney Scam

Three Florida men have been charged in a free vacation scheme at Walt Disney World. The men, Joseph Geiger, Robert Falk and Steven Nero, allegedly racked up more that $15,000 in one month alone and never paid for them.

The scam took advantage of a loophole in the Walt Disney World reservation system. Investegators say they would book a hotel room with a valid credit card and then when they arrived they would charge the room to a pre-paid debit card that was worth only $1 to $2. They would then visit the parks and charge tickets and other expenses to their rooms. They would stay below the limits set by Disney so they could go unnoticed and then leave before the charges caught up with them or Cast Members noticed.

According to The Daily Mail, Falk came up with the scheme after visiting Walt Disney World on a trip that he actually paid for.  Authorities were notified after a Cigar store worker alerted Disney security that the men were purchasing large amounts cigarettes at one time. Disney security then notified police which then lead to their arrest.

'Sister Act' Double Feature Blu-ray Comes Home June 19

One of my favorite movies growing up was the original ‘Sister Act’, starring Whoopi Goldberg. It was light, fun, and just a really good time all around. So consider me surprised to find out that to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the movie, Disney is releasing a a double feature blu-ray featuring ‘Sister Act’ and it’s sequel, ‘Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit’.  The movies follow a lounge singer who goes into witness protection and hides out in a convent, becoming Sister Mary Clarence.  This is the first time either film has arrived on blu-ray, and I’m very excited to sit down and rewatch the first in high definition. I admittedly haven’t seen the sequel, so I look forward to finally sitting down and watching that one as well. The 3 disc, two movie collection will be hitting shelves June 19, 2012. I can’t wait. Yacht and Beach Club Resorts - The Lesser Known Things

The Yacht & Beach Club Resorts are most known for their shared pool, Stormalong Bay, Cape May Cafe character meals, and their close proximity to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.  But have you heard of or experienced any of these lesser-known treasures?

Camp Fire Sing-a-long and Marshmallow Roast.  This occurs nightly on the beach in front of Stormalong Bay.  Sticks and marshmallows are provided, but if you want to make ‘smores’, graham crackers and chocolate can be purchased in the Beach Club Marketplace.  For the month of June the campfire begins at 7:30 PM.

Movies Under the Stars.  Following the Camp Fire Sing-a-long is a Disney movie outdoors (movies begin at 9PM during the month of June).  Movies for the month of June (2012) are:

Sunday: Finding Nemo (G)
Monday: Fight of the Navigator (PG)
Tuesday: Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (PG)
Wednesday: Lady and the Tramp (G)
Thursday: Sky High (PG)
Friday: The Muppets (2011 – PG)
Saturday: Cars 2 (G)

Times for these activities vary each month.  You can pick up a Recreations Activity Guide at the front desk of either resort which will inform you of when each activity will begin.

Pool Side Activities.  Also listed on the Recreations Activity Guide are the hourly pool-side activities going on each day.  Bingo, Disney Trivia, Noodle Races, Wacky Bowling, Karaoke, Water Balloon Toss and Freeze Dance are just a few of the many games held daily at Stormalong Bay.

Solarium.  Need a quiet place to relax?  Just around the corner from the Beach Club Marketplace is the Solarium.  A large room with many windows, tables & chairs, 1 tv, and it’s often always empty.  It’s a nice place for a quiet read or to sip some coffee.

Marina.  Located on the Yacht Club side of the resort is the Marina.  Boat rentals, guided Fishing excursions, and Illuminations Cruises are available for hire.  The Albatros Treasure Cruise is a fun treasure hunt available for kids ages 4 – 12.

Beaches and Cream.  This dining treasure is a classic ice cream parlor serving burgers, ice cream and more.  While they do accept the dining plan, they do NOT take Advanced Dining Reservations.  To be seated with little wait, it’s best to visit B&C during off hours.  Beaches and Cream also offers a side entrance for those wanting to grab a quick ice cream treat and go!

Starting Today - Animal Kingdom’s Sundowner Celebration

According to WDW Magic Disney has renamed the Taste of Africa Event held in the past in the Animal Kingdom to Animal Kingdom’s Sundowner Celebration.

Taking place from June 3 to June 30 2012, you will be able to find special events throughout most areas of the park.  The special offerings will begin after the afternoon parade, running through to park close.

Here are some more details from WDW Magic:

Royal Anandapur Tea Company will offer specialty food and beverages, tea brewing and cooking demonstrations, and  a cultural dance and street party.

Discovery Islandwill have two bands – “The Island Groove” steel drum group, and “Viva Gala Street Band”.  Game activities will be held near to the Flamingos.

Harambe Village will offer specialized works of art, food demonstrations, a Wine Walk and Juice tasting, and a street party with the Tam Tam Drummers and Burudika Band.
