Universal Orlando Rolls Back Epic Universe Expansion News

Universal Secures Permits for Upcoming Epic Universe Attraction

Universal Backtracks on Epic Universe Expansion Language, But Growth Is Still Happening

Universal may have pulled back on a single word, but the bigger picture around Universal Epic Universe is still very much about growth.

Earlier this week, NBCUniversal released a press statement celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2026. In that original release, the company described itself as “expanding Universal Epic Universe” alongside plans for a new UK theme park, a Universal Kids Resort, and year round horror experiences in Chicago and Las Vegas. That phrasing immediately raised eyebrows, as it marked the first official instance of Universal publicly using the word “expanding” in connection with Epic Universe.

However, Universal has since updated the release and quietly removed the word. The revised statement now simply references Universal Epic Universe without describing it as expanding. The correction suggests that no formal expansion announcement was intended, despite the initial wording.

That said, this feels a bit like a distinction without a difference. We already know Epic Universe is growing beyond its five current portals. A $20 million event venue is actively under construction adjacent to Celestial Park, adding flexible space for corporate events and large gatherings. So while Universal may not be ready to confirm a brand new land or attraction, the footprint of the resort is undeniably increasing.

Epic Universe currently features five immersive worlds: Celestial Park, Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, and How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk. There is also visible undeveloped land surrounding the park, with aerial photography from trusted sources showing site preparation work already underway. Universal executives have repeatedly hinted that there is room for more storytelling and future additions, even if nothing concrete has been officially unveiled.

Financially, the park has already made a major impact. When Comcast reported fourth quarter 2025 earnings, Universal theme parks posted $2.9 billion in revenue, up 22 percent year over year, with Epic Universe cited as a key driver of that growth. In other words, whether the word “expanding” appears in a press release or not, Epic Universe is clearly a living, evolving project.

We will be watching closely to see when Universal decides to make its next move official. If this is just the first chapter, the sequel could be epic in every sense of the word.

New Permit Filed for Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon as Refurbishment Continues

Another wave of updates is rolling into Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park as Disney has filed a new permit tied to the park’s ongoing refurbishment. While the water park closed for the season on February 14 due to colder weather, work behind the scenes is clearly heating up in preparation for its return later this spring.

The newly filed permit was submitted by Disney’s Sourcing & Procurement team and contracts Buena Vista Construction Company to provide labor, materials, and electrical work for construction. The permit is valid for one year and appears to be connected to the Storm Slides, the trio of body slides that send guests racing through twisting tubes before splashing into the catch pool below. Earlier this month, another permit was filed for general maintenance at the park, signaling that multiple projects may be happening simultaneously.

Typhoon Lagoon is scheduled to reopen by May 26 and will operate at the same time as Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park through September 8 as part of Cool Kids’ Summer. Even better, guests staying at a Disney Resorts hotel can enjoy complimentary water park admission on their check in day during that window. Two water parks open at once feels like a throwback summer flex, and we are here for it.

In addition to the Typhoon Lagoon filings, recent permits have also popped up for Frontierland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, suggesting a busy construction season across Walt Disney World. With May just a few months away, it looks like the tropical shipwreck theme will be polished and ready for swimmers, sliders, and wave riders alike.

Indiana Man Arrested After Late Night Chaos at Disney Springs

A late night at Disney Springs took a chaotic turn earlier this month when a 28-year-old Indiana man was arrested after allegedly attempting to break into the House of Blues Orlando and causing a disturbance inside the M&M’s Store at Disney Springs.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s arrest report, Adam Stephenson of Morgantown, Indiana, was observed just before 11 p.m. on February 2 attempting to enter security codes into a locked door at House of Blues. When that did not work, deputies say he began pounding on the door and tried to kick it open. The doors, which were clearly marked and located behind a chain, led to House of Blues offices and the concert venue itself. After failing to gain entry at two separate doors, Stephenson reportedly fled the area when confronted.

Authorities say the situation escalated when he entered the nearby M&M’s Store, knocked several items off shelves, and then ran out. The report also indicates he used high top metal bar stools to block Disney Security and House of Blues employees who were attempting to detain him. Deputies described him as intoxicated, noting that his behavior caused a public disturbance and endangered the safety of others enjoying an evening at Disney Springs.

Stephenson was arrested and charged with disorderly intoxication and attempted burglary of a structure. Court records show he pleaded not guilty. He later requested a public defender, but that request was denied after he reported earning $4,000 bi weekly.

While Disney Springs is known for dining, shopping, and live entertainment, incidents involving intoxicated or disruptive guests have made headlines in recent years. This latest episode serves as a reminder that even outside the parks, security presence remains strong and law enforcement responds quickly to protect guests and Cast Members alike.

Four Seasons Resort at Walt Disney World Sells for a Magical $1.1 Billion

There is a new owner holding the keys to one of the most luxurious addresses in Central Florida. The Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World has officially sold for a headline grabbing $1.1 billion, marking one of the biggest resort real estate deals in the area in recent years. The sale was confirmed after reports in January hinted that a deal was close with investment firm BDT & MSD Partners LLC, though the identity of the final buyer has not yet been revealed.

The property was previously owned by Host Hotels & Resorts, which purchased the Orlando resort along with a Four Seasons property in Jackson Hole between 2021 and 2022 for a combined $925 million. The newly finalized $1.1 billion deal includes both hotels but does not include the ongoing condo development at the Orlando location. According to Host Hotels CEO James F. Risoleo, the sale represents a strategic move in their capital allocation plan, monetizing the properties at what they described as an attractive profit.

Numbers from a recent SEC filing show just how strong this resort continues to perform. In 2025, the 444 room luxury escape posted an average nightly rate of $1,241.70 with a 63 percent occupancy rate. That translated into $33.5 million in total income for the year. Not too shabby for a property tucked inside the Walt Disney World bubble, where guests can float along the lazy river by day and toast the fireworks from Capa’s rooftop by night. With new ownership stepping in, it will be interesting to see whether any enhancements or expansions are on the horizon for this five star favorite.

New Disney Reusable Bags Available at Walt Disney World!

If you’ve been looking for a way to haul your park snacks and souvenirs without breaking, the latest merch drop at Walt Disney World is calling your name. The parks have just debuted a brand-new set of Disney reusable bags that are basically a piece of Disney history. The best part? They’re super affordable, with the large bag retailing for $5.99 and the small one for $4.99.

Disney Reusable Bags

The design is a total treat for eagle-eyed fans. It features a massive array of characters gathered around Cinderella Castle, and while you’ll see favorites like the princesses, the real stars are the rare cameos. We’re talking Clarabelle Cow, the mischief-making Huey, Dewey, and Louie, and even Bernard and Bianca from The Rescuers Down Under. It’s a rare win for fans of the deeper Disney vault!

The scene is chaotic in the best way possible: Maleficent’s dragon is scaling the castle walls, while Figment, Orange Bird, and Tinker Bell zip around the spires. To give it that premium feel, the bags are finished with flashy gold trim and sturdy handles. Even the side panels are high-effort, covered in a rainbow of character signatures, some belonging to the characters on the front and others that are just fun Easter eggs.

Don’t let the similar looks fool you; these two bags aren’t identical twins. If you look closely at the $4.99 small bag, you’ll notice Disney played a bit of a shell game with the artwork:

  • Swaps on Side One: Buzz and Woody have booted Dumbo out of his spot, and an X-wing has flown in to replace the Rescuers Down Under crew.
  • Swaps on Side Two: Dumbo makes a comeback here, replacing Peter Pan and the Darlings, while the Millennium Falcon takes over for Orange Bird.
  • The Big Dragon Change: On the smaller version, Stitch takes over Maleficent’s dragon’s climbing duties, and Genie has pulled a disappearing act from the background.

The side panels with the colorful signatures remain the same on both, so you’re getting that autograph book vibe regardless of which size you pick. Whether you’re grabbing the large for a grocery run or the small for your park essentials, these are easily some of the most detailed souvenirs you can get for under six bucks.

New Pint Sized Dole Whips Available at a Grocery Store Near You

Dole Whip Minis Have Officially Hit Grocery Shelves

If you’ve ever found yourself daydreaming about a stroll through Adventureland just for a taste of pineapple swirl, we have some news. While Dole Whip cups have been popping up in stores recently, the game has officially changed: Dole Whip is now available in 14 oz. pints at retail locations!

Now, you can stock up on the ultimate tropical treat without needing a park reservation.

Whether you’re a purist or looking for a twist on the classic, Dole has released three vibrant flavors to satisfy your cravings:

  • Pineapple: The legendary original that started it all.
  • Tropical Guava Passion: A punchy, exotic blend for those who love a fruity kick.
  • Mango: Smooth, sweet, and perfectly refreshing.

For many of us, Dole Whip is more than just a dessert—it’s a tradition. The “Dole Pineapple Whip” first made its debut at Magic Kingdom in 1984 as part of Dole’s sponsorship of the Enchanted Tiki Room. It was an instant hit, migrating to Disneyland in 1986.

Nearly forty years later, the obsession hasn’t cooled down. While the parks keep things fresh with seasonal festival flavors, the core appeal remains the same: a melt-resistant, plant-based delight that hits the spot every single time.

What Makes it Different?

You might be wondering if the pint in your freezer is the same as the swirl in the park. In Disney Parks, Dole Whip is created by combining a dry mix with a dairy-free soft-serve base and running it through a pressurized machine to get that signature “Instagrammable” swirl.

While the pint version is ready to scoop, it keeps the most important part of the recipe: it is 100% dairy-free. By using a plant-based base instead of milk, Dole achieves that creamy, soft-serve consistency that makes it a perfect alternative to traditional ice cream.

Keep your eyes peeled during your next grocery run—these 14 oz. pints are sure to disappear fast!

Living with the Land’s Breadfruit Tree No Longer on Display

The landscape of Walt Disney World continues to shift, and EPCOT’s Living with the Land is the latest attraction to see a significant change. Joining the list of recent removals across the resort—including the upcoming overhaul of the Rivers of America and the closure of DINOSAUR—the greenhouse’s iconic breadfruit tree is officially gone. We caught a glimpse of the empty plot during a recent boat ride.

Beyond its botanical importance, the breadfruit tree was a visual anchor for the attraction, serving as the iconic backdrop for the Glimmering Greenhouses holiday overlay and the defining feature of the greenhouse entrance. According to Cast Members we spoke with, the tree had simply outgrown its home, posing a potential risk to the attraction’s infrastructure.

While the rest of the tree will be composted, the team was able to salvage the trunk. Though no official replacement has been named, it is expected that a new, smaller breadfruit tree will eventually take its place. In the meantime, the view into the greenhouse looks remarkably different.

What do you think of the missing tree?

SZA Is Entering Her Pixar Era with New Single “Save The Day”

We are inching closer to the release of Disney and Pixar’s newest adventure, Hoppers, and the soundtrack is already off to a star-studded start. SZA has officially released her all-new original single, “Save The Day,” giving us a soulful first taste of the movie’s heart and message.

SZA

For Director Daniel Chong (We Bare Bears), landing SZA for the soundtrack was more than just a collaboration—it was a dream come true. Chong shared that SZA’s music was a “lifeline” during the stress of production.

“When we first heard the song, some of us cried; SZA perfectly captured the heart of our main character, Mabel,” said Chong. “‘Save The Day’ is not just an emotional journey… but an anthem for a whole generation just looking for some runway to change the world.”

The track features lyrics by SZA with music by SZA, Ben Lovett, and Rob Bisel. If you want a head start on the vibes, you can catch an on-air first listen on SiriusXM’s Disney Hits (Channel 133)!

image ()

The film’s score is helmed by the legendary Mark Mothersbaugh, who Chong describes as a “creative force.” Mothersbaugh, known for his work with Devo and his iconic film scores, felt a deep connection to the film’s message.

“I like the message and, in a way, it’s kind of a Devo message,” Mothersbaugh noted. “I think everyone will look at this film and they’ll relate. It’s positive information for people to think about.”

For the collectors out there, Disney Music Emporium has launched a stunning exclusive die-cut vinyl of “Save The Day.” The record is shaped exactly like the film’s lead character, Mabel, and is available for pre-order now. This is definitely going to be a centerpiece for any Pixar collection!

The full Hoppers soundtrack—featuring SZA’s single and Mothersbaugh’s score—will drop the same day the film hits theaters.

We Tried The Troll Krem From The New Norway Pavilion Snack Cart in EPCOT

We Tried the Troll Krem from EPCOT’s New Norway Pavilion Snack Kiosk

The new Norway Pavilion snack kiosk in EPCOT has officially entered its frosty era, and we had to put its signature drink to the test. On the menu at this recently opened stand near the Stave Church is Troll Krem, a frozen blend of cranberry and vanilla that immediately caught our attention. At $5.79 for the non alcoholic version, it felt like the perfect mid-day cool down for a sunny stroll around World Showcase.

First sip verdict? Cranberry is absolutely the star of the show. The flavor is tart, slightly tangy, and refreshing, with the vanilla quietly working behind the scenes to smooth everything out. Think frozen slushy texture, but creamier and more cohesive. The vanilla adds that thickness that keeps it from tasting icy or watered down, giving it a velvety consistency that holds together even in the Florida heat.

New Norway Pavilion Snack Kiosk Opens in EPCOT

On a hot day, this drink is a win. It is light, refreshing, and not overly sweet. That said, it does melt fairly quickly, so this is not one to sip slowly while debating your next Lightning Lane. And yes, brain freeze is absolutely on the table if you go in too fast. Consider yourself warned. If you are not a fan of cranberry, this might not be your cup of… krem. The tart berry flavor is front and center, with vanilla acting as the supporting character rather than co headliner.

We tried the non alcoholic version, but there is also a spiked option available for $16.50 topped with Bacardí Dragonberry Rum for those looking to add a little Nordic kick to their snack break.

Overall, we think Troll Krem is a good value for what you get and a fun addition to Norway’s drink lineup. Between this and a School Bread, you have a solid World Showcase snack combo.
