After a massive $159.6 million domestic debut—and a $312 million global launch—Toy Story 5 is pacing toward a strong $88 million to $96 million second weekend. By comparison, Inside Out 2 opened slightly lower at $154.2 million but held remarkably well with a $101.2 million sophomore frame. Inside Out 2 eventually went on to gross $1.699 billion worldwide, securing its spot as the highest-grossing animated film domestically and the second-highest of all time. If Toy Story 5 can maintain this current momentum, it has a real shot at dethroning its Pixar sibling.

This latest installment follows the iconic toy crew as they face a modern threat to playtime: electronics. Led by a new tech-toy named Lilypad, these gadgets threaten to completely steal Bonnie’s attention away from her traditional toys.
